Ruth, sounds like you had a busy but pleasant day, visiting with DD and the rest of the family. Guess it was a blessing that the human dynamo was asleep the whole time- at least he was not causing any trouble. Two year olds are awfully cute though!! Glad you were able to spend time with your family.....so sorry about the message in cyberspace. Happens to me a lot also.
CJ- well, I think it was a great idea to put those tapes in the middle of the living room floor- that way they get done and you can figure out what to do with them. Are the tapes the last of what you have to go through? I hope that you make the mason jar quilt! Sounds like an adorable project, plus its bright and cheery too! Were you able to get the warm wishes fabrics ironed? Hey, what do you use as a starch for your quilting fabrics? As part of my BOM class they had me buy Best Press- which I did. I figure I will get to use that for the first time on Monday. Anyway, I hope you can get some crafting time in- or at least spend some time checking out slow stitch Sunday tomorrow.
So, I goofed (but realized that mid afternoon) that the concert at church is in a week. So I got a nice walk in and spent a little time working on the embroidery pillow case this evening. They are so pretty and cheery....think I will make some for both my Dd’s and their spouses....after I make my BOM quilt and falling charms quilt. In my spare time. Right!!!!!! Anyway, hope everyone is having a nice weekend. And that Meg, Phyl, Becky and Sue get a chance to stop in and say hello. Hope I did not miss anyone. Ginny

Good Evening Ruth - I'm glad you had a nice time visiting with family. I hate it when I lose a post!! Ginny - I'm happy to hear you were able to have a nice walk and work on your pillow case. I've been thinking about making another Falling Charms quilt too - with a Charm Square pack that I have. Hope you get to go to the concert in a week. I had success today and finished going through all the VHS tapes and some DVDs too. I have 2 large trash bags filled up with VHS tapes to throw out - some were pre-recorded movies I bought but most were shows I'd recorded over the years. I was excited to find several tapes of old quilting shows, and I want to watch those again. I do still have a lot of VHS tapes, but I only kept the ones for shows that I really liked and would maybe watch again and also some of the pre-recorded ones. I also have quite a few DVDs, but I pulled some of those I don't want to put with the donation things I'm gathering. That was one of the last major projects I had to do in the house. I still have 2 storage totes I'd like to go through and re-organize. One has papers, pictures, and other things from my childhood and things that are sentimental to me. The other tote has old paperwork, photos and sentimental things that were my parents. I just kind of put everything in there without separating papers, pictures and things, and I'd like to do that. I also now want to go through every room again and see if there are things that I would donate that I passed on the first time. I'm hoping to have another donation pickup by the end of the month. Maybe after that I'll finally feel like I can relax and breathe again. Thanks to you all for listening to me as I went through this process, it's been very overwhelming and I appreciate the support I didn't get to the fabric pressing today, but might still do it before bedtime. I use the Mary Ellen's Best Press starch. I was never a "fabric starcher" when I first started quilting - for some reason I thought it wasn't good for the fabric, even though it was difficult to get creases out of my fabric. But once I started using the starch, I loved how nice my fabric looked and I now starch pretty much everything before I cut fabric for a quilt.

good morning CJ and all who come in later. It's an overcast day and very windy but temp is good...still feels cold with the wind
CJ, I've been to poshpooch site many times and she does have some very nice patterns. I agree about the mug block. It's really nice and I bet there are many really pretty variations. I like the sewing machine block too.
I never did get back to crocheting after I got home yesterday. I was tired so I went to sleep early. I don't think there's anything I have to do today so I'll just do a little cleaning up and then crochet most of the rest of the time.
Ginny, sorry that the concert is not for another week. It's strange that they have it on EAster. It's great though that you were a able to work on your pillow case and what a great plan to make a set for each of your daughter's. It's something they will treasure and can pass down to the next generation.
DD loved the Dragon wing shawl and immediately put it on and wore it the whole time we were there and she also liked the other crochet items I had made for her.Dgs who is 13 grew about a foot since I last saw him on Christmas. His dad is 6'6 so he's catching up but I don't think that he will end up being that tall. He's sure a LOT taller than me but since I'm just a touch over 5'2 many people are
Have a great day everyone

It's alreadynfternoon, and I'm not sure where the time went.
hb's caregiver has another two plus weeks here. He's going to work for a construction company this summer for fairly obvious financial reasons. If the care agency he's working for doesn't kick up a fuss, he might be available for a few hours late afternoons. Not ideal, but better than finding someone new. He is of tremendous help to me and does all kinds of things that make my back hurt. Like sweeping, loading and unloading the dishwasher, bringing the groceries upstairs, mopping. Just about anything! hb watches TV as a default activity and doesn't interact with J very much anymore. He likes J, just has trouble following conversations. J will be working four ten hour days and is quite serious about a fellow student. I've met her, and she's a super young woman.
Snow is melting. I can see grass in about 50% of the yard. There's still a layer of frost , so the water from the rain and melting snow is pooling on the surface. The robins are busy building nests and twitter pating! A misguided Northern Flicker is rattatting of the chimney. The starlings seem to have moved on, but I'm not going to put any feeders back out until the trees have leaves.
Ruth, I am glad your husband isn't going into the shed moving business! Hope the new one gets ordered and delivered before he changes his mind!
Ginny, germs seem to linger and get passed around a lot when children are young. You are a trooper for baby sitting. Here there is a business that takes children when they are too sick to go to school or the regular babysitter.
CJ, thanks to providing the links you post. Your work in downsizing, sorting and tossing or redistributing things is inspirational. I've downsized, moved too many times and cleaned out my parents' house where they had left bed for 55 years. My mother was a hoarder, but as I'm going through boxes of meticulously labeled slides, I am getting another picture of her altogether. Mismatching impressions ... one of the things I am finding is all the family photos. Thank goodness I saved them and moved them with us in 1994. Different medium and difficult to go through now without a working carousel or slide tray projector.

Well just lost another message.
Sue I'm sorry to hear that your caregiver is leaving. Of course he has to go where he can make some real money. I hope he will be able to help out at times because he sounds like an excellent caregiver and does help you a lot
Well I did work on the bunny this morning...no I didn't complete him in time to take over yesterday. Then I did a bunch of other things. I repotted a couple plants then repotted one again because dh thought the pot I put that one in was too large. Then I filled my containers and planted my tomato seeds, vacuumed up spilled dirt..I used a drop cloth but missed it. Also vacuumed up some dropped leaves, etc from the other plants.Cleaned up the kitchen some...never ending job as you all know and now I intend to spend what's left of the evening crocheting. Dh cleared off a coffee table he was using in his man cave and brought it up to me so that I could use it for my tomato plants. I also rearranged the dining room a little bit. Now I intend to spend what's left of the evening crocheting.
See you all in the new week
