Yup, lots of walking and a beautiful day to do that! Kids were really good and the animals behaved. Some, like the porcupine who is normally asleep all day were up and active this morning. We also got to see them training the bobcat to move from cell to cell and DGD and I got a special show when all the coyotes starting howling! It was pretty impressive.
Not much crafting today- I worked on a pillowcase while DGD slept in the car and Dh went into Mickey Dās with DGS. Hope I have the energy to get to study group tonight. G

Ginny, it sounds like you had a good time at the zoo and got in a lot of exercise. I love zoos. Unfortunately there aren't any anywhere around here.
Finally got a chance to get here. Dh and I sat talking this morning waiting to hear from the saleswoman and never did so I finally took the car to the dealer anyway.Talked to the person at the service section's desk, She told me there were not app't times avail until May14th for electrical system checks and she was telling me how much it would all cost for the testing after I had already told her that the sales dep't was paying for it. The young woman went out to do what they consider a battery test and I went to the sales dep't and asked them to page the saleswoman so she came and the two had a powow then asked if I could leave the car which I was happy to do. So now we'll wait and see what happens next and how long that will take.
Got home, explained everything to dh, sat outside in the fresh although cold air for a few then came in and have just put two loves of cranberry/blueberry bread and a casserole into the oven. Tomorrow will be cleaning day, wed the other car dealer, Thurs shopping, then Friday last minute cleaning. If I'm not around much don't worry, just busy.
I did try to crochet while waiting for the shuttle driver to give me a ride home but although I wrote out the pattern to take with me I had left some out that I thought I would remember but by the time I got to crocheting I was tired and stressed from all the explaining so didn't get a lot done...working on second star blanket...but I did get the stars established so I'm ready to sit and crochet and relax.

I can't believe how pretty this star shaped blanket it. I have just the edging row to do on star blanket #1...it's just a lovey size.. Then I'll finishe the one I started at the car dealer today and then make the heads and arms for both of them. I'm not sure what I'm going to make for the one but I did see a zebra lovey on the crochet group today made of two of the three colors used in the blanket part and it was really nice so I think I'll do that for one.
I cancelled my new car recall fix because they say that there is 3-5 inches of snow possible that day and if so I don't want to drive in it. I wanted to let them know as soon as possible so am not waiting till the last minute to cancel. and that will give me an extra day to do some more visitor prep.
I hope you're all sleeping peacefully right now. I'm about to go do that too. Good night

We took Willy to the vet early this morning. He had the wire removed from his jaw. It's been eight weeks, and his jaw has healed nicely. Mindi will go with us for her shots.
hb wants to go up to the cabin to check on things. Lowes called, and they wanted the corrugated steel for the roof on the back room of the cabin picked up. It was ordered in October, and snow arrived before the hole could be patched. The piece of steel will be delivered in about ten days ... to the cabin. It's a huge piece ... eighteen feet. The hole isn't very big, but it will be interesting to see how much snow got inside.
Strange things are going on around here. Two houses are suddenly empty. One coincides with the end of the school year and a divorce. The other is a mystery. Lots of cars and trucks and a huge moving van. The two families had been neighbors and bacame friends before moving here. The house across the street is sandwiched between the two houses involved. In clear view of the backyard someone is building a very large shop. - huge. Down the road a new roof is going on.
I went out back with the woofers and cut three large branches off scotch pines. I need to call the tree trimmers, but I want to see if some judicious pruning will do the job or if the trees should be removed altogether. They may have become a fire hazard.

Sue, glad to hear that Willy is doing ok and that his jaw has healed well. Oh, what we go through for our furbabies....Yes, its a gamble how much snow actually got in the cabin. Gotta hope that the snow actually sealed the hole off for a while and prevented massive amounts of snow from entering in. Is the cabin far from where you live? Are you out of danger for getting more snow this year? Everytime I hear from Ruth that she is getting more snow I shiver...guess your weather is not too much different. Indeed its odd about the two families moving out. Is there anyone near you that might know what is going on without you having to snoop?? its a strange coincidence indeed....
Ruth, its looking good that they will take care of your vehicle at no cost to you- or at least we can hope that it works out for you. The star blanket sounds really pretty- I lose track easily, what colors are you making it? Is it for your new great grandchild to be? And yes we will miss you, but totally understand that as time goes on you might not be able to stop in as much. We will miss you though!!
Had fun with DgD- she is at such a cute age- but she was tough to get down for a nap because of the teeth that are coming in.

Sue, I hope all is well at the cabin and that despite the hole in the roof that no snow got in. Strange that two families are moving at the same time.
Ginny, sorry about the little one suffering from getting teeth. It sounds like she's usually such a great baby to be around. I smile every time you mentioned how adorable she is because my dd says the same thing about her grandaughter. The star blanket is gray, yellow and white. The colors look so great together. One is for the new great grandbaby and the other is for his or her big sister who will be 2 then. I think I've decided to make bunny heads for on them. I looked at other animals but they all have a lot more pieces and I really don't want to sew a bunch of arms, ears, muzzles, horns and whatever. If the children were older and had a preference I'd do it but they're babies so I'll take the easy route.
Yes they said it would be very cool today but we were outside earlier and it was wonderful. At least 60 and sunny after me waking to a miserable looking day. Now it's turning miserable again, and as I mentioned, it's supposed to snow. I don't think it will stick. It's to be warmer starting Saturday and 70's all next week...my kind of weather.
Now I have to go clean up the kitchen so see you all later.

Ruth the colors of the afghan sound lovely, a great color scheme.

Phyl, I have a huge list of baby blankets. All free patterns. The one Ginny mentioned is great. The star shaped lovey I just made could be made larger into a blanket also but does have large openings which infants tend to get their little fingers stuck in. I wonder if Betty has tried just putting "free crochet pattern for baby blankets" in her search then she could see them for herself or I'd be happy to post links here that she could go to.Ginny or I could send you the one you mentioned in email then you could forward it to Betty. I don't know that there's a way to post it on here and that may even be illegal since it's probably copywrited.
Well the car dealer called and said they couldn't find anything wrong with my vehicle or the battery. Well that sure is strange that on three separate occaisions here it was completely stone cold dead. Of course he also said "we've had it here two days and it started fine". They had it one day. So I'll just go pick it up since it's obvious that they aren't going to do anything more and maybe even believe that there isn't a problem
