Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - Those plans to visit your DD and DGK with your DS sounds great, I hope you have a wonderful visit with everyone. Ginny - I'm exhausted just reading how much you did and 26,000 steps is crazy! I think the most I ever did was 20,000. Hope you get some rest today. You are right about emotional attachments to "things". I cried driving to the bank to close the checking account I had with my father after he died. It was the bank his retirement and SS check was deposited into, so I couldn't keep it open after his death. The phone number I have is attached to every aspect of my life - business and personal, so I'm very happy to still have it. Betty - I'm glad you found an easy pattern, hope it turns out the way you want and I'm sure it will be loved. Ruth - You might get a few "steps" on your Fitbit while you're crocheting, just from the movement of your hands, but not as many as just normal steps. Another thing to know that if you are walking but not moving your arms, i.e., pushing a cart in the grocery store, it won't measure your steps. You have to move your arm. I try to push the cart with one arm and swing the other as much as possible so I get credit for those steps. I do a lot of walking in place and swinging my arms to get steps, like if I'm heating a mug of water in the microwave, even talking on the phone sometimes. I've been enjoying my rhubarb-strawberry sauce. I like it best mixed in with some vanilla greek yogurt - it's so good. I'm going to try to find more of it before it's gone and freeze it, like I've done a few times. I'm making some green beans with a piece of country ham in them today and I'll eat them for a few days. We went to the cemetery this morning and put out a bunch of flowers. My mother, grandmother, aunt, and great aunt are all buried at this cemetery along with my father, my grandmother's second husband, my uncle and great uncle. My DSIL's parents and grandparents are also buried there, so it works for us to go together. They used to take very bad care of this cemetery but over the last several years it has gotten better and it's looking good again. Unfortunately it's in a very bad area of town (used to be nice a long time ago), so I'm afraid to go there by myself. I'm thankful by DB will take me. Take care everyone!

Quilting was good yesterday. The house is across the valley and up on a hill. Beautiful views of the valley, the immediate rolling hills and the snow capped mountains.
Today I slept until nine and have been taking things easy. I talked to my neighbors across the street who have the chickens and the next door neighbor whose package I received. The neighbor on the corner did not sell the house. He moved into a basement apartment and is renting the house to a contractor. I had the wrong house down the street. That one was listed last Thursday, and by the next day there were eighteen offers. Crazy!
I have a new idea for utilizing wood from the trees. If I cut the branches into "cookies" to make designs and pictures for trivets, wall designs, coasters. At the moment I have aspen, Lombardy poplar and pine. With all the power equipment in the shop, it would be really simple to cut the slices. I might even be able to talk hb into sanding the cookies for me. Maybe.
At the moment I'm waiting for a time when hb isn't paying attention to move a new printer into the house. One of my technological advances. I also bought several outlets that have a USB slot so I can charge my cell phone anywhere in the house.

Good evening! Phyl- so very sorry that you are not feeling well and I hope that this passes quickly. guess you’d better feel pretty good to take over an hour drive to the quilt shop in the magazine....but it is probably worth the trip! Picket Fence is an awfully cute name for a quilt shop. Feel better !!!
Sue, those wood medallions are really popular now, so if you could find a way to make things and market them- its a great idea. I have seen everything from wedding favors, to Christmas tree ornaments or just cute decorations made from those... a shop sells them down town. Good to hear that you were able to get to quilting and enjoyed the outing.
CJ- I can relate a lot to how you are feeling, as I had to settle my parents estate/home and be the final judge of what stayed and what was discarded. Yes, getting rid of that old phone # was a bear for me, but I had to- there was no practical reason to keep it and cancelling that service did simplify my life. I am really happy for you that you can keep the phone number. Change is good- but that does not mean that everything has to change!!! Great advice to Ruth on the fitbit. Like you, I use the spare arm to swing while in the store...did you know that if you were charging your fitbit or could not use it for another reason you can log in manually your activity? Glad you are enjoying the strawberry rhubarb sauce!! Remember it freezes well....and nice for you that you and your Db can attend to the cemetery together. I am sure it makes it easier for both of you.
Ruth, hope that Ds’s flight works out- and arrives on time. Do you have a long journey to the airport? Glad you got a fit bit- and once you get used to it, it is a great way to make sure you get activity in your day. It might track a few of your crochet movements, but not much. Surely not something I would worry about....hope that you and your Ds enjoy getting together after all this time!!! I am praying that its a great visit for both of you.
26,000 steps is NOT normal for me. My all time high which I hit ONCE was 30,000 steps....and I do not remember when that happened. I strive to get over 10,000 steps a day and succeed most days at that. Got to work on the second block of my required 4 for this month. Have one small adjustment to make on the center and then will go on to finish it. So I got some crafting in... busy day today running errands with Dh.
Have a great night all G

Phyl, I'm so sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. If this continues I hope you will see your doctor about it because bloating can be caused by many things. Ginger and ginger ale and 7 up are always good in these circumstances but I hope you will be able to eat regular food very soon
CJ, what a blessing to have someone go to the cemetery with you. Yes, ;please don't go alone.
Ginny, I hope you get some time over the weekend to do some crafting and other things you enjoy. And congrats on getting it 10000 steps every day. That is a really great accomplishment that I hope I can attain during the next few months. As a couch potato I know I won't be able to do it right away. Well my dd wanted to go pick up her aunt at the airport so now dh and I won't have to go. It's actually not far. Maybe 20 miles from dd's house...less from ours.
It was kind of a wasted day today. I did do some crocheting this morning but after dh got up he went out and tried to start the new to us truck and it wouldn't start. Then we did clean and dh helped a lot but the rest of the day has been spent talking about the truck. I'm really getting tired of that I can tell you! Wish he would calm down and quittalking about it. It's 9pm and I want some me time to relax, maybe watch tv and crochet. I did call the service person at the dealer who tested the truck and he really is working with us and will even come to our house if the truck doesn't start on Monday.

You know.....I miss Meg.
Happy Saturday all.
Just started a post and voom.......gone into cyberland.
Ruth, glad that Dd will be picking up Ds from the airport. Sort of like an early Mothers day gift for you....not having to go to the airport. I hope that the person who offerred to come to your house if the truck does not start really does so. What is wrong with this vehicle?? And I am so very very sorry that it has made Dh so difficult to deal with. Got a similar situation here- plenty of bellyaching from Dh but he shows no interest in solving the problem. Just complaining. Not easy to live with. I understand.
Dh wants to go to Lowes. When we get back, I will continue work on the second quilt block. I have to rework one small section of the center (just do not like how the seam allowance came out, easy fix) and then finish the outside flying geese. Hope you all have a nice Saturday

Good morning all. Ginny, I hope you find something interesting at Lowe's and also what your dh wants to go there for.I hope you get time to work on that square
It's a very overcast dreary and cool day here. So far very cloudy and foggy and only 39 degrees. I may have to grab a couple logs and start a fire. This weather is not going to make a good first impression of Wyoming. Then we'll have about five nice days before it gets cool again. In fact a couple days would not be to the liking of Ginny and CJ because it's to hit 80
Yes the service person said yesterday on the phone that what our truck is doing is very strange. After being completely dead with the volmeter saying dead and no interior lights and no starting power that we charged for only 10 minutes and it started. Autos never do that. It takes hours to charge a battery. So it's not the battery. There must be a short somewhere which is what I told them in the beginning, but how they will ever find it I have no idea. Next time I'm out I'm going to stop at the Honda dealer and see if the previous owner of this vehicle had it in there and didn't put that info with all the hundreds of other service visit receipts he had and left in the vehicle to prove he took good care of it, and see if there was something they found. There's probably a reason he suddenly traded it in after spending over $4000 on audio components and it's also the reason he traded it in at the Ford dealer when he always dealt with the HOnda dealer..I think he couldn't trade it there because they knew what the very serious and unfixable problem was. Now whether or not they will tell me is another question. So luckily we have two other vehicles and CJ, you are so right, if I were alone here I'd still keep at least two.
I miss Meg also. I was just thinking of her yesterday.

I just found out my grandaughter is having another girl. Guess I'll add the blanket I started in a blue and white yarn to my pile of UFO's and start one in a more girly or gender neutral color...or get out the one I started with Ginny's pattern in the antique white. I saw a lot of patterns for little girl things and will make some matching ones for both girls.

Ruth, congrats on the great granddaughter!!! I know all you want is a healthy baby- I will pray that this little girl is healthy, happy and a blessing to all....Yes, that pattern I did works up beautifully in neutral. I made two afgans of that pattern from pound of love- in a cream/off white pattern and it is stunning.
Electrical problems are a problem.....we had a truck with electrical issues, and our mechanic (who. Is pretty good) said that they were very hard to diagnose. With all the work done on that truck it makes me think that perhaps the installation of all that audio equipment is at fault.
Slept poorly last night...I could use a nap. Doubt I will get one however. Take care all Ginny

Oh Ginny, I do hope you get that nap. I don't know what's with all of us having sleep problems lately. I always toss and turn a lot and wake about every two hours but was always able to get back to sleep but lately I've been like Phyl, waking early and not being able to get back to sleep. Oh and my sister's name is also Phyllis and some do call her Phyl...my dd calls her Aunt Phyl

Hello Crafters Phyl - Hope you are feeling better today. I always buy that Quilt Sampler magazine twice a year, it's the only quilt magazine I do get anymore. I love to look at the shops and also see what pattern each shop does. Ginny - Hope you were able to work on your quilt block and maybe get a nap. If not, hope you sleep better tonight. Ruth - I'm glad they are taking you seriously now on the truck problems, hope they can figure out what it is. You're right, I wouldn't want your 80 degree weather Hope your DS makes it into town safely. I'm sure you'll enjoy making another little girl blanket. I almost dread going to sleep these days. I will usually wake up about every 3 hours, have trouble getting to sleep and going back to sleep and generally just feel miserable many nights. Sure makes me miss my younger days when I slept like a log for 8 hours. We had a cloudy day here, and now it's raining. It's been cool in the 60s and the week ahead is supposed to be cool, so I'm happy about that. The heat will be here soon enough. I tried working on a crocheted potholder today, but couldn't get the hang of the stitch from the pattern and video, so I put it away. I have 3 unfinished projects I should be working on instead. Hope everyone else is getting some crafting in. Take care and enjoy your Mother's Day tomorrow!

CJ, sorry the crochet dishcloth pattern didn't work for you. Do you have the name of it? I'm glad it's going to be cool there since that's the weather you like. It really improved weatherwise here today and ended up being a nice day after all. I even took a walk with my 13 year old grandson. He's very tall and walks much faster than I do with my very short legs.
Phyl, I'm glad you're feeling better. I hope you get your energy back and don't tire out easily. I'm happy to hear that you had a good sleep too. My sister is 14 years younger than me and I hated her name as much as I hated mine. My mother, though, named her after her (my mother's) cousin who died at age 14 from some muscle disease. She was my mother's best friend.
Thank you all for kind thoughts and prayers for my sister's safe arrival. She did arrive safely. She does look better in person..not quite as heavy as she does in the selfies she posts. Her walking though is even worse than I thought. She still works as a deli clerk and I have no idea how. She can barely walk from my living room couch to the bathroom which is not far away at all. And even though I'm using my hearing aids I can't hear her. She used to talk very loudly but now speaks softly. This is going to be a long two weeks. I do love mysister but I think we've already run out of things to talk about. Luckily my dd will be over here a lot and she always has lots to say. She brought me a birthday book that my grandmother used to keep track of her family and friends' birthdays. She also had the dates that the people died. My grandmother lived to 101 so a lot of family and friends died before she did. Then my mother took over the book. When I saw it I immediately thought of CJ and the family treasures she's mentioned lately. She also brought me a report card of mine from when I was in 6th grade..that was interesting too although I do already have several of my old report cards. I asked her about her diabetes and she said she hadn't had the tests done she was supposed to have last year let alone this year. I showed her our blood glucose monitor but she didn't seem interested in finding out what her blood sugar was. She needs to have an A1c.
Phyl, thank you for the suggestion for the car. I'll tell dh about it so he can check.
I did do some crocheting before she got here and just before dh and I came down to the bedroom for the night while she and dh were watching tv.
See you tomorrow sometime...probably after we come downstairs then too if I don't get time during the day.

Ruth, I do hope your sister will check her blood sugar level and get an A1c. Playing with fire. The good news is that she came to visit. Sister relationships can be very close or very complicated or a combination of both. i really like the saying that friends are the family we choose for ourselves. And that's true even today. My family was wonderful. My cousins were my best friends, but as adults we have dispersed in all directions.
This is a beautiful day here. Looks like the east coast and the south are not so lucky.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and enjoying your Mother's Day Ruth - I'm glad your sister made it there safely and that you are enjoying visiting with family. It is funny how probably the biggest thing we have in common with siblings is our parents. The potholder was made with the thermal stitch. I just had trouble seeing which loops to put the hook through. I should just stick with SC and DC Phyl - I'm going to look for that magazine in the store, it must be a bit exciting to have a local store featured. It's cool and rainy here today. I'm happy for the cooler weather. I set up my laptop today, since I have was having so many problems with programs on my desktop. It took a few hours to get everything loaded and I bought Microsoft Office 365 since I use a lot of those programs. Now I just need to see if I can get used to the keyboard. I bought a separate keyboard in case I have problems. I did hook in a mouse, I just can't deal with that pad thing on a laptop. I'll be checking out the Slow Stitching Sunday blogs but that's the extent of my crafting. Take care everyone!
