Thanks for the start, Karen.
Iggy and I went to the 2nd Street Market and the farmers were there. The ladies did not have much -just flowers amd lettuces. The Hungry Toad no longer has a booth but our other farmer had strawberries, asparagus and green onions. The young urban farmers had salad turnips and we picked up some bagels from the Bread Man. We also went to the butcher for the carnivore and I bought a Dream Cream pie to take with us to the niece’s house tomorrow. It has a chocolate crust and peanut butter filling. I am glad it is not staying at our house.
Iggy is going to finish the planter so I can put in-the cucumber and cherry tomato plants. I am staying indoors because the cottonwood is flying. It is gathering in the grass and looks like snow. I am glad they have a short season.
I hope you all have a great Saturday.

Karen, thanks for the start and hope you got a better sleep last night. Glad to hear Liz is having great weather. We've been in the low 90s so far, but with lower than normal humidity. That's interesting on the financial institution having insurance options.
Linda, those dogs are adorable. Hope they find a good home for them.
Chele, sounds like a productive trip to the market. I saw where there is a Klan rally in Dayton today. Hard to believe that's still going on in this day and age. I hope everything stays calm there. DS's pool has a screen enclosure and they're not close to any bodies of water, so they're probably safe from gator invasions. You never know in Florida though. 🐊 They're forecasting temps up to 96 or 97 here, so not quite record breaking, but close enough. I heard Gainesville and Ocala might hit 100 and that would be record breaking. I'm hoping the rainy season kicks in soon before fires start not to mention all of our lawns frying.
Becky, walking with that much pain doesn't sound like fun. Hope the shots give you some relief.

Kathy, even if not record breaking that is hot. 🥵 You know, the alligator float sounds like a new drink, something with creme de menthe, rum and ice cream. The news has been talking about the Klan rally for weeks. They are from Indiana. The streets around Courthouse Square will be closed and there will be a protest a few streets over. Most of the businesses downtown will be closed. Iggy got home a little early yesterday because the members are staying in the hotel across from his office. We passed a caravan of police from nearby cities headed downtown on our way to the butcher. Tomorrow afternoon a group will perform a symbolic cleansing ceremony at Courthouse Square. I hope all will be peaceful today.

Chele, it's way too hot for me, that's for sure! I think the hottest days are supposed to be Monday and Tuesday. That drink would be fantastic to have while floating in the pool on the alligator float. My dad used to make a drink called a grasshopper that was similar. I hope all remains peaceful today too.

Chele, you did well with the farmers, given how early in the season it is there. The pie sounds amazing and, like you, I'm glad it won't be at my house. I hope your strawberries are as good as our SC ones have been. Sorry about The Hungry Toad. Cool name! Did they go out of business or are they just not participating this year? I have some local bagels that I got last year and stuck in the freezer. Guess I need to get some of those out and put hummus on them. That would be a good lunchtime meal for warm weather. I'm surprised the klan is so far north. Good that you didn't have any issues while you were out and I'm sure Iggy didn't mind an excuse to come home early yesterday. Good luck with the plants, but I don't blame you for staying inside while the cottonwoods are doing their thing. I know how they give you fits. LOL on the alligator float. What would your choice of ice creams be? Plain old vanilla or something more exotic like pistachio or chocolate chip?
We got to bed a bit earlier than usual last night, Kathy, and, despite Dale getting up at the normal time to go to his shoot, I got in a little over 7 hours, which is about usual for me. Around 6, my little girl decided we were getting up as well. I wish she was more of a late sleeper. She loves breakfast too well to sleep for long. The klan is alive and well, especially after Trump's comments post-Charlottesville a couple of years ago. They take you to court if you don't approve their assembly permit, so most places do what Dayton did and ask for law enforcement assistance from surrounding jurisdictions to try to keep the peace between them and the folks protesting their existence. Your DS should be pretty much gator-proofed in her pool. How far from bodies of water do gators tend to roam anyway? We were also very surprised when our FA said they could help with health insurance. Our first thought was bundle it with our auto and home through State Farm, but they don't offer it here for some reason. I know when Dale came off my insurance 2 or 3 years ago, I was paying $600 a month but so much has changed since then, I'm sure it will be a lot more.
Becky, if my leg hurt when I walked outside, I don't think I would do it until a few days after the shot out of fear of doing more damage to what ever is going on. Are you still having to put drops in Scooter's ears? If so, is that getting any easier? Are you having heat like some of the rest of us?
Are you sore from all your outdoor work on Thursday, Linda? How many more coolish days are they predicting? What's on your Memorial Day menu?
Dale is on his way home and should be here in an hour or so. I watched a couple of gardening shows this morning and then transcribed both sets of minutes from Monday night's meetings, so that's done. I am going to steam up some greens for dinner, so that's all that's left on my agenda.
Liz, hope y'all are having a great last day at OBX.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele You made quite a haul it sounds like.It sounds like today is a good day to stay in for you. That pie sounds too good to have around the house.I hope you have a good time.
Kathy We have been in the low 90's also but humidity has still been high although we aren't expecting any rain for the weekend.
Karen The ear drops were only to be given for 7 days.On the 6th day she stopped shaking her ears so I guess she is over it.We are noticing she doesn't care to lick out paper plates or bowls as much as she used to when it comes to human foods. She does love her Dogster ice cream since it's been so hot.I also put doggy treats in her Kong toy and she has a good time.
When the lady from the Austin ortho office called on Thursday I thought every thing had been settled. So color me confused and surprised when we were grocery shopping at HEB and I received a call from the WM pharmacy. It went to VM and they asked for me to call them back.First that was strange because I have only been using the HEB pharmacy the last 2 yrs.The WM pharmacist said they had a prescription called in on 5/10 for an injection to be taken to a doctors office. She said they hadn't filled it yet because it would cost me $3000 to have it filled there.I asked her the name of the medicine and the Dr's name and it was the correct medicine and yes the ortho I have been going to.She was really nice so I just thanked her and said not to fill it and she said she wouldn't.He is supposed to be bringing the meds from his Austin office to the Bastrop Satellite office next Thursday for my appt.So I will be calling Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday morning if I have to keep calling b/c if it does indeed cost that much I will be asking where I can pick up my x-ray CD and go to someone else.I thought he was an idiot from when I saw him 2 yrs ago but thought well he is closer than RR or Austin but most of his office staff has been totally unprofessional. However I didn't know he was totally incompetent. This is not acceptable and totally UNBELIEVABLE!!! They can kiss my skinny butt if they think they are going to charge me that much.
Liz I hope you are enjoying yourself.

Becky, un-fricking-believable what that doctor’s office is putting you through. $3000 is an outrageous amount. I am glad Scooter’s ear is better.
Karen, pistachio is my favorite but hard to find in this town. I hope Dale enjoy his outing and has a safe trip back. How is Arya’s weight doing from when she was so skinny? She seems to enjoy your home cooking. Health insurance is not cheap that is for sure.
Kathy, if it is that hot you sure need the rain to keep the fire threat down. We are expecting some storms later this evening.
What have you been up to, Linda?

Karen, I think the klan has been active in the Indiana and Ohio areas for a long time for whatever reason. My great-grandfather was a county sheriff in the 1920s in Ohio and the klan tried to disrupt a dedication ceremony for their new courthouse. He wound up turning the fire hoses on them! I agree that the Charlottesville comments just fueled the flames and you're correct that they have to give them a permit. The best thing is to just ignore them instead of giving them the attention they want. It's hard to go far in Florida without hitting some kind of water, but I think the gators will travel a few miles on dry land if they need to. Better to be safe with the extra fencing if you have small pets.
State Farm doesn't offer health insurance here either. I'm using COBRA for now and it's about $450/month for the health insurance. That's for the high deductible plan that my employer has, so that's why it's cheaper than what you had. My sister got a quote for hers in case they want to use it in retirement and it was $1400/month for the two of them. Her DH's employer doesn't offer anything for retirees, so they'll probably have to do that or the ACA. Definitely not cheap.
Becky, that is just unbelievable on the shots and I hope that office can get it straightened out for you. Glad to hear that Scooter's ears are better.
Chele, send some of those storms down here. I just went out on the porch to water the plants and it's stifling out there. Glad I don't have to be out in it for any length of time.

hmmm. They charge Medicare 1250 for each of mine.Plus an injection fee with ultrasound guide.
For 48 hours you are not to do extensive walking or working on the knee, but you do need to bend it off and on to distrubute the gel. They should tell you, but your dr is, uh...well.
KKK brazen rally today is disgusting.
Glad I am nowhere near that pie!
SW is cooker tgan nirm and the opposite of a Polar Vortex is heading SE...can't remember the zippy name,

Becky, that is UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!!! Where i want my prescriptions sent is one of the standard questions every medical office asks. I'm glad the pharmacist was nice about it. Yes, I would definitely go elsewhere. Is there anywhere east or south that would be closer than going to RR or Austin? If you go to a different doc will you have to have 2 appointments, first for the consultation and then for the shot? Isn't it nice to have a skinny butt? LOL If Scooter isn't bothering her ear, the drops must have done their job. Good news!
I like pistachio, too, Chele. Haven't looked for it around here. My favorite was from Baskin-Robbins and in the summer when I lived near one, I would get a take home quart and was very disciplined with it. Arya definitely has grown into her adult body and, as long as she and Dale get in their daily walks (which they didn't today), she is staying trim. I was giving her lunch of yogurt with pumpkin for a couple of weeks and she decided she didn't want it anymore (which wasted about a quart and a half of organic yogurt). So if she's not hungry mid-day, she probably doesn't need the extra calories and that's ok. Good luck getting some rain to abate your fire threat. Hope you don't get t-storms, just rain. Dale had a good time. It was a small group, as several of the original group are no longer with us. There was Dale and one other guy of the old group. He hasn't shot with them in a while because every time he plans to go, the weather doesn't cooperate. Maybe things will be better this year than they were last.
Kathy, the klan is somewhat active in some parts of NC. Ignoring them is a good plan, except it seems that some of the anti-klan folks just can't seem to do that, which sometimes leads to conflict. Dale has the option of COBRA for 18 months, but he will need 60 months total until Medicare kicks in. Are DS and DBIL planning to retire at the same time? If the $450 plan is what you've been getting by with, hopefully no reason to pay any more. We should talk with the insurance expert at the bank this week to see what they have to offer. ACA is also an option, at least for now. I'm having to water the raised beds every morning and some of the plants still aren't particularly happy. I've lost 2 tomato plants. I thought Dale watered the blueberries and elderberries yesterday but found out that he didn't, so I'll have to do that in the morning.
Singh Meadows sounds beautiful, Linda. Did you have lunch or dinner at the restaurant? Do they sell their own products at the market? I'm glad you had a nice day there.
My dinner was good. I figured that I didn't need a full-fledged meal, so I had Korean BBQ tempeh and sea vegetable salad from the restaurant and added bbq butter beans and sauteed greens and mushrooms that I had in the fridge. Blackberries for dessert. I hope this dog lets us sleep late tomorrow. Good thing the windows are closed and the AC is on because the lake is cranked up. And the people at the cabin on the next cove seems to love sharing their urban contemporary music with the rest of us. Dale plans to get even in the morning by firing up the weed eater.

Karen, sorry your neighbors are so inconsiderate.
The restaurant is an order-it-and-carry-it-outside place with huge lines and long waits..nice breakfast or lunch food, but we don't usually want to wait.
allegator float does sound like an odd ice cream drink

New problem this week...allegy itch. Micki and I both! drags his tummy in carpet. So he has a prescrption for the times of year it happens. I have not had this for years...it was so bad one Oct I could not work and had to stay home in a nightgown! never did figure out what set it off...next two years again but nit as bad. Then it was Feb, for two years! You can write on my skin with finger nail and see it for quite a while. If I give in and scatch I look clawed.Allegra antihistamine stops it, but it takes and hour and I tried Claritan 12 hr thinking I was better. Claritan takes two hours to work and wears off the last two.. So hope in an hour I can settle down. Usually his problem only lasts a week or so...hope it goes away for me soon. Pollen just gets worse and worse and goes on this year with low heat.
Mesquite and ragweed and grass now....but just found out that creeping ficus vine I got scratched up dealing with causes rashes and itching in a lot of people...had shirt sleeves and did not wear gloves...sigh. also worse allergies are common after a lot of antibiotics until good bacteria in gut recover.

Linda, nice goodies from the market. It sounds like my kind of place big Iggy and I aren’t into to long waits at restaurants either. Sorry about the itch. The juniper bushes used to get me like that. Once the body gets out of balance it takes work to get it back. Good luck with the itch and remedying the gut bacteria.
Karen, it must be Memorial Day madness at your place. Watch out if you get out in the lake. I wouldn’t like any loud music but the kind the kids listen to is especially irritating. Now I know why my prog rock irritated my DM.
The rally was a bust for the hate mongers. Only 9 of them showed up and there was only 6 supporters. It cost the city $650,000 for fences, snow plows to block streets and security not to mention the income for the businesses that closed. Better safe than sorry, though.
Have a great Sunday, all.
