Sue, I love lilacs. I have two varieties but the one doesn't bloom every year. Sometimes it's because they bud and the buds freeze but sometimes there doesn't seem to be any explanation. My lilac bushes are getting very old and the best bush we've been planning on getting rid of for several years but haven't got to that yet. It has to be removed because we need to do driveway and garage apron work in that area and the bush is in the way.
It's a better day today and we do have some weak sunshine. It's warmer which is what I like. We've had a lot of flooding in the state and some here in our town.Between all the rainand the snow melt the little creeks can't handle all the water. It's certainly not like in a lot of places though.
I did a little work and Have been crocheting for about the last hour or more. The baby blanket is coming along and should be finished this week. A woman posted a picture on fb of her cross afgan which reminded me that I need to get started on finalizing the plan for mine...colors, setup, which yarn to use, etc. I have several other things too that NEED to be done for birthdays, etc and as soon as I get those done I can concentrate on that cross afgan.I also have to take breaks now and then and do something simple like those earwarmers. There are just so many things I want to make!

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. My bread came out alright, tasted better toasted. The No-Knead bread just doesn't get the best texture compared to a bread that is kneaded. But it's an easy recipe. The weather here is hot, but I'm glad not to get the strong storms and tornados and flooding which is so terrible for those affected. I haven't been doing much, it's just too hot. I sure hope this isn't a preview of how the whole summer will be There's a possibility I might get to go to a quilt show this weekend, but I'm not sure yet. If not, I know that I will definitely go to one next weekend, since it's a lot closer than the one this weekend. The one this weekend is a big one though with lots of vendors that have great stuff, it takes all day to go through the vendor and see the quilts (200+). I finished reading through the Quilt Sampler magazine. After I finish it I like to go online and check out the website for each shop. I really didn't care for most of the patterns the shops provided - just too modern or too much work for me. I find that I'm really just looking for easy and simple patterns now. I don't feel up to taking on complicated projects. Hope you all get some crafting in. Take care!

I have a recipe for english muffin bread- which is essentially a loaf of a bread (no knead) that tastes a lot like Thomas english muffins. Its got that kind of grainy texture, as CJ described. CJ- so sorry that you are experiencing hot weather already. Seems like it should not be hot, but its almost June. Hope that you are able to sneak away to a quilt show...that 200+ vendor show sounds so nice and a really pleasant day. Would your DSIL join you? I liked the baby quilt in the Quilt Sampler magzine. It looked pretty easy to, just cutting charm packs. I hear ya, if you are not up to a complicated pattern, then why bother? Think we are doing this to have some fun.
Ruth, good news that you are able to get some crochet time in! I thought you had an organized list of your upcoming projects? You are an inspiration to all of us with all the different projects that you take on. Cannot wait to hear what your plans are, and what different yarns you will be using.
Sue, so glad you are enjoying the different lilacs! My mom used to love them,, so they will always have a soft spot in my heart. Enjoy them for their all too short bloom period. Are the korean lilacs as fragrant as the others?
Phyl, good news that your back is improved. Hope that sitting in a long meeting today did not make it worse. Hope you rest well tonight....
See ya tomorrow Ginny

CJ, I agree 100% with Ginny. If something isn't fun we should not force ourselves to make that.
Ginny, I love English muffin bread. Of course I don't eat it now but when I did eat bread I ate Eng Muffin especially when it was toasted. Yep, do have a list of my projects and I had an idea of how I was going to make the cross afgan too but I keep changing my mind. The picture that was posted in crochet group on fb the other day was so pretty. She made it with the cross in the upper right corner and the rest was all a log cabin type pattern...crochet log cabin that is.
PHyl, I'm glad your back is feeling better.
Strange thing happened earlier. My dh was outside mowing and the next door neighbor came over and said "I see you bought Guy's car"...referring to the Honda truck we just bought that doesn't run. Then the woman that lives across the street and down a little (she's lived there for over 30 years but we never got to know her) came over and mentioned that it was her son's car!!! She then went on to say that the reason her son traded it in was because after he had all those electronics installed he ended up having electrical problems....just as I thought. So then he apparently tradded it in without telling the dealer about those electrical problems. Well at least now I can tell them that it is indeed an electrical problem. They still are not obligated to take the truck back and give me my money back but I'm hoping that now that they will know at least that it's definitely the electrical system that they might be able to figure out what the problem is in it and maybe fix it.

Will have to check out the sunflower quilt in the magazine. I forget it....must be adorable! Yes, you could do less beads. You need another project, right Phyl? ha ha ha
Ruth, ah the plot thickens with respect to the truck. At least you now have someone to substantiate what happened to that truck. Praying that something fair can be worked out for everyone. Hope you are able to find a crochet pattern for the cross afghan that you like.
Babysitting now- then have to go with Dd#1 to help set up for the bridal shower on Saturday. And am babysitting again tomorrow all day, DD’s MIL is ill so its a swap for Monday, which I now have off from Babysitting. (Happy about that).
Hope I can sneak in some crafting today, but its doubtful.

It's a pretty good day and starting tomorrow will be nice. I'll plant my tomatoes outside next week probably Monday. They're so tall. Took dh for a ride today and we stopped at a fish hatchery. They grow little trout to stock the reservoirs and the river with. I don't like trout. We're fished here i nthe past and caught a bunch of trout but always threw them back.Dh seemed a little grumpy though so nnow we're home and I'm waiting for him to take a nap
I doubt that the woman across the street will be substantiating what she said about her son's car. She would be admitting that he had a serious problem with it and didn't tell the dealer when he traded it in. And not only is he her son but he has mental health issues and can be violent when he feels threatened or just when he feels like being violent I guess. Dh disconnected one of the wires from something that man had had installed and we'll see if that helps. Otherwise I'll take it back to the dealer next week and tell them what I found out and maybe that will give them a clue as to what is wrong and what they can do about it.
Have a great day. See you later

I went to quilting this morning! Our treat was Linzer Torte. It was delicious! I would probably never have tackled something so labor intensive, even when I was younger. It was superb!
Afterwards I met my property manager at the duplex. The contractor was there. A larger refrigerator will fit, so I changed the order and paid the bill. The appliances will be delivered on Thursday. I have a tenant. Who will be moving in on June 7.
The high is 74 today.

good evening, I looked up the tort recipe. won't even think about making it. I am not a hazel nut person.
I did go through the sampler magazine. guess there are few more I like.doesn't mean I will start any of them.I do like the last colorful one.. think that would take alot of work, time consuming also.
today was the chrio. now I am to ice the spot for 15 minutes .2 hours later use the heat.keep repeating this.we will see if this will cut down the pain that wakes me up at night.
I did stop in joann fabrics. they did not have what I wanted. Target to pick up a script.not sure if I like target anymore. they are making the cafe a starbucks. never been nuts about them. they have
more stuff coming in. some of the aisles are so crowded and close together.maybe when they get done rearranging or what ever the store will be better.
then it was walmart for vitamins. found some fat quarters there that I will use for a project.
stopped at joyce's for ghe fabric I loaned her to make 3 baby came home
sue what did your caregiver and friend think of the place you showed them?phyl

I've never had a Linzer torte but I'm not a hazelnut person either. I'm glad you liked it.
I never go to Target and I don't like Starbucks at all. I recently used a gift card there that I got quite a few years ago for filling out a survey. The hot drink I got with it wasn't even as good as one I could have made at home and their regular coffee is the worst I've ever tasted.

Sue, congrats on the tenant....hope that ultimately this will simplify your life. Yes Linzer torte is a TON of work to make, but very good.
Ruth, I am joining you in the club of those who dislike Starbucks. I make much better coffee at home and honestly do not understand the attraction of overpriced mud in a cup. How is your weather - are you able to think about getting your vegetable garden set up?
Phyl- praying that the icing at night will enable you to sleep.....and that the pain will go down. A painful back is absolutely no fun.
Babysitting at Dd’s but will be bringing the kids back to our house shortly. Today will be very busy. I did get the center pinwheel of the last block done last night- hope to finish the block over the weekend.
Hi to CJ and Becky and anyone I missed. G

Oh Phyl, I forgot about Seattle's best. It's even worse than Starbucks. Burger King made a big deal of the fact that they switched to SB coffee and it is horrible so at BK I never get coffee anymore. Like Ginny, we make much better coffee at home and it's much less expensive too.
I do hope the icing and heat helps your back. I haven't done ice yet because of it being so cold.Same in Jan when I hurt my back muscles while lifting that bookcase. Now it was the pullout couch ...still too cold for ice.I know you're supposed to use ice
Yes I do think that spring is finally here...just in time for actual calender summer ..well in three weeks so we will have 3 weeks of spring I guess
I didn't do even one second of crafting yesterday unless you count putting my yarn into a tote bag and taking it with me just in case there was a time while out that I wanted to sit and crochet. That didn't happen.
So having bought a smart phone, albeit a reconditioned one, I'm wondering, when you go to a grocery store and want to look at their coupon site, do most stores have wifi that you can access in the store so that you can view their site? I'm so behind the times that I don't know anything about all this.
Ginny, we you able to get everything situated for the bridal shower? I hope your dd gets some really nice gifts but more importantly has a good time with family and friends.
Going shopping today but dh is taking a nap right now so I have a little down time before he wakes up and is ready to go. He likes to get out so always goes with me but then he gets grumpy. I wish he would just say that I should go ahead without him.I did a little grocery shopping while my sister was here. Had her wait in the front of the store and was able to buzz through and pick up the things I needed and that was much easier not to mention more enjoyable

Phyl, I didn't wind up renting to hb's caregiver. They found a place that is much better suited to their safety wise to their needs. She has a three year old daughter and a German shepherd. He needs to be closer to the university. There is a playground and there will be all sorts of other advantages for them.
The new tenant is in his 40s and has no children. My property manager says he checks out as more than okay!
The whole valley was filled with smoke from fires in Canada. Alberta is having a really bad fire season, and it's still very early.
This morning I did some grocery shopping, went to the bank and flew past Home Depot where I bought some annuals and planters and some mulch. J the caregiver is here so he unloaded the car for me. I kind of sort of planned things that way. I did the things I may not be able to do next week. Tuesday the podiatrist is cutting something on the second toe on my other foot. My big toe is still more sensitive than I would like it to be.
