Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today.
Ruth - I hope the deer stay away from your plants. I have a small rose bush in my yard and a couple of weeks ago there were several small red roses on it, a few days later there was just a clean stem left - so I'm guessing the deer stopped by for dinner.
Ginny - Hope things go well with your DH's procedure. My crown is staying in, but I'm still taking it easy on that side of the mouth. I really don't want to have to go back to the dentist this month, since I have appointments in Jul and Aug for a bridge.
Phyl - Glad to hear you had fun yesterday, hope your project turns out well.
Sue - Hope your foot continues to improve.
Meg and Betty - Hope you are busy crafting.
I tried the immersion blender today to make some vegetable soup. I heated up a can of sliced carrots, can of green beans, can of tomatoes with chilies, and a can of chicken broth and heated it to boiling. I also added some black pepper, since I like things with some heat, and sometimes I'll put a bit of seasoned salt in the soup, but it's not really needed. Then when it had stopped boiling (after taking it off the heat) I used the blender to make it more of a bisque type soup, which I prefer with these canned vegetables.
The blender worked pretty well, but the motor part came loose from the blender wand a few times. I don't know if I just didn't tighten it or what. This was a lot easier than pouring the mixture in a blender, like I used to do.
I also make this soup with green beans, carrots, zucchini in tomato sauce (Del Monte), chicken broth, tomatoes with basil, oregano and garlic and it makes an Italian version. I can get 3 large servings out of it, so it lasts me for several days.
Weather here is warmer and humid, with rain this evening. Take care everyone!

Hey Sue, I do remember you mentioning that the other foot also needed “work”. Is this as big a procedure as the first one? obviously it cannot be too awful, being bipeds we do need at least one halfway decent foot to get around on. Hope that both heal quickly and that you got your liquid plumber with out much difficulty.
CJ- sorry that the immersion blender gave you a headache.....issues like that is why you wanted to use it instead of a blender or food processor. The soup sounds really good and something that is program friendly. Nice when you can cook once and have great leftovers
Its great to be home.....got hot here today but its starting to cool. Amazingly we made it through the day without the AC. Nice to be home.....Dh is tired but doing well. We made an appointment for a follow up visit with the doctor in 2 weeks....but the doctor was pleased with how the procedure went. I did get a little bit of embroidery in during the wait. In the waiting area there was a woman making a crocheted diaper basket. Cute idea.....and it did not look difficult.
Hi to Meg and Betty..... just trying to think of those who did not make it here today Ginny

Ginny, I'm glad to hear that things went well in dh's procedure. I hope you both get rested as I bet neither of you slept well last night. The diaper basket sounds interesting and I'm glad you were able to get some embroidery done.
CJ, your soup sounds so healthy. i'm always trying to get in more veggies with little success. I guess I should make some of your soup. I'd have to add a lot more flavorings though to get as much heat in it as I would like.Sorry about the glitch in the blender. Yes trying to blend soup in a regular blender is a little dangerous.
I did a bit of cooking today. Made some Thai chicken, boiled some potatoes and made some dressing for German potato salad which will probably go with bratwurst or something similar tomorrow and I'm also going to stew some strawberries to put with rhubarb for in a pie or crisp. Forgot to mention that the neighbor came over the other day with a huge armful of rhubarb and a huge bag of green onions.Tomorrow I have to take the new car for it's recall fix then next week will take the Honda for another try at getting the electrical problem diagnosed. I did talk to the previous owner after I found out he was my other neighbor's son so have more info to give the people at the dealer about the problem So anyway tomorrow I'll be out for awhile and will at least have dinner ready except for the cooking of the brats.

The shower drain is unclogged. Last night I soaked my right toe/foot, then bagged up my left foot so I could take a shower. I will be glad when I don't have to worry about the left foot/second toe. The doctor taped the big toe and the next two together to act as a splint to hold them together. Tomorrow I go back so he can unwrap it.
Yesterday I stopped by the duplex to check. The tenant wants to move in tomorrow. Most of the work should be done, except for the internal doors. The appliances are being delivered this afternoon. Talk about down to the wire!
This morning I'm going to quilting, and this afternoon I have my physical. We'll see whether it's a wellness exam or a physical. My coverage was switched to a Medicare Advantage PPO, so it's supposed to be a physical. I have my lab results back. The main thing I'm concerned about is my A1c which is down to 5.9. I'm very happy about that.
Hot today and then cold for this time of year.

Waiting for DGD to wake up- so this will be brief
Ruth, so glad that you have some insight to the electrical issues with the truck. I am hoping that the dealership cooperates and attempts to rectify the problem. Our mechanic says that electrical problems are hard to diagnose- but you have some idea where the problem might be. Best of luck. Glad you got some cooking done to make your day easier. Its rare that you do not mention crochetting in a post....hope your day is going well
Sue-hope you enjoyed quilting! I understand how confusing this insurance issue is- we hit a big snag with Dh’s insurance with his medical procedure. Hope that your feet are healing well and that the temporary “splint” can come off tomorrow.
Got Dd and all 3 grands over for dinner- another busy day. Looking forward to quilting class tomorrow, except this month is English paper piecing. I hear I will either love it or hate it. Tomorrow will tell Hope to BBL G

Well finally home from the car dealer. They are great in that they give you several options. You can wait there, they will give you a ride home and pick you up, or they will lend you a vehicle at no cost.So I opted to borrow one for a short time. I had heard that Hobby Lobby had some yarns on a huge clearance and Hobby Lobby is over on that side of town to I went there...yep bought more yarn.It was a great price but there were only certain colors marked down and limited quanitities. I want to get some of the one yarn to make the blanket for my dgd but they didn't have enough but I bought it anyway because I might find some on sale somewhere before I need to make that one.
Sue, I'm glad your toes are healing well and that your drain is unclogged. It can be very expensive and a mess if you have to get a plumber.
Ginny, I hope you like the paper piecing. I have no idea what it is but I'm going to look it up. It will be nice to actually like what you have to do rather than just struggling thru it when you don't.
I didn't do any crocheting after my shopping trip just sat in the waiting area of the dealer and read a book I picked up at the airport when I was there. They have one of those bookcases where you can drop off books you no longer want and pick up any you see there that you would like to read.I'll save this one and when I have to go to the airport in the fall I'll take it back along with some other books I want to dispose of. I used to donate them to the library but I don't go to the library anymore. It's kind of nice to have a real book in hand although all my Bible study books are real in hand books.

Hello Crafters Ruth - I have trouble getting enough vegetables too, so something like the soup helps me. I'm happy you were able to go to Hobby Lobby while you were out Ginny - Hope you enjoy the class tomorrow. I've done a bit of English Paper Piecing and I enjoyed it, and I think since you like embroidery you will too. Regular paper piecing and I don't do very well together. For some reason my mind just can't grasp sewing those pieces of fabric onto paper with all the angles and numbered spaces Sue - I'm glad to hear your A1C was down, hope you foot is feeling better. I've been watching videos on making a Jelly Roll Rug today. My SIL and her niece are interested in making one and she suggested we all get together at her house one day and work on them. I ordered a Jelly Roll Sashing Tool and a roll of the 2 1/2 batting to use for this project, as well as some jean needles from Amazon today and should have them next week. I need to check on the Jelly Rolls I have, but I don't think I have but a few of them, to see if I'd like one of them for a rug. If not, I'll buy a new one. My SIL told me she can't make the quilt show this weekend, but I'm going to go myself. This one is about 40 minutes away from me, but it's an easy drive. I'll probably go both days because they have a few demonstrations I'd like to attend. It's fun to go with my SIL because we like much of the same styles of quilts, but I don't mind going alone. It's in the 90s here today, so I'm staying in to stay cool. Take care everyone!

Yesterday was so windy that the screen door blew out of my hand and slammed against the house. I was letting out the dogs! No damage, fortunately.
I am really happy with the results of my exam, the lab results, blood pressure. Everything is normal. I even lost ten pounds! I still have all the chronic problems, but they they're not going anywhere. Back, feet, OA, I'm going to try a new to me prescription to see if it helps with the IBS-D. If it doesn't, he suggested another one that is new, but will require an appeal. TMI! Next week, hb has an appointment with him.
This morning I'm going to the podiatrist so he can check the toes he wrapped after releasing the tendon on one. Then I'll check on the duplex. My property manager recommended the contractor who had done work for her. He is excellent. His carpenter is meticulous in his work (a little OCD which is probably a plus!). The only problem is that it has taken so long because they have too much work. This isn't their only project.
Quilting was fun yesterday. Our hostess has a new puppy who is.about five months old. She's a mix of mixes, and she sat on my lap or next to me the whole time, mainly because she tried to escape every time the door opened. She seems smart but needs a whole lot of work on chewing, walking on a leash, etc. She's from the shelter and had been returned.

CJ, thanks for the links. I never thought of quilted rugs. Some of the ones I saw online are really beautiful,. I would never allow anyone to step on mine if I made some not on any that I crocheted. I see people posting picture of the ones they made with the t shirt yarn they got for $1 at Dollar Tree.
Sue, sounds like you have a lot of medical challenges. Isn't getting older fun? Luckily it sounds like you have a good doctor.j Gotta go soon to take care of getting title, pay tax, and get registration on my vehicle that doesn't even work. The time of the temporary "plate" is up tomorrow and of course they aren't open tomorrow at the mvd so today's the day. Nothing like waiting till the last minute. I was hoping the situation would be resolved by the time I had to do all that.
I did crochet last night. Followed a youtube which I hate doing but it was a pattern for such a pretty earwarmer so I did follow and write it all down. I like videos when used just to see what the person is trying to say in the written pattern but to have to crochet along with a video just is not something that I want to have to do and so many of these people don't have written patterns.
Ok gotta go shower and dress

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today phyl - I couldn't believe how many papers I had when I went through them these last few years. I try very hard to keep on top of all paper trash now and either throw it out or shred it. It's crazy how it can take over Ruth - I'm glad you found a nice earwarmer pattern. Hope things go well with the vehicle registration. I have a car that needs repaired too (the old one) and I feel like you do - paying for a car that is just sitting and I can't use it! Sue - That puppy sounds cute. It's always fun to be around animals when you don't have to take care of them I hope you can get good results from all your health concerns. Ginny - How did the class go, what type of English paper piecing project did you work on? Hope you enjoyed it. Meg and Betty - Hope you both are doing well. I looked through my fabric yesterday and I only have 2 jelly rolls. One would be beautiful for the rug, but I like the fabrics in it so much I'd rather use them in a pattern where you can see them better. The other one I do want to use in another project. Oh well, guess I'll just have to buy a new jelly roll It's warm and humid here today, but cloudy. The quilt show is the weekend and I'm hoping to go. They have some interesting demonstrations that I'd like to sit in on. The show is held in a High School, so it works well for setting things up. I think there will be around 20 vendors, but not all with quilting products. I saw this crocheted shawl yesterday when I was surfing around and I'd really like to try it. It looks easy enough for me to do: www.mamainastitch.com/smoky-mountains-crochet-triangle-wrap/Take care everyone!

Happy Friday all!!!
Phyl- well its good to hear that you are doing pretty well with the chiropractor. Yup, get to the Y as much as you can- which will be good for your back/hip discomfort and your spirits. Chair yoga sounds great! Hope you give it a try.
Ruth, you have my head spinning....another earwarmer pattern? Amazing that you take on so many different projects. Glad you were able to pick up a good book from the dealership and now have a good place to deposit books you no longer want. Like you, I like a book I can hold in my hands. Hope all works out with both the car and the truck...
Sue- congrats on the good report from the doctor and the weight loss! Glad that the house sustained no damage when the wind blew the door out on you. What did you work on at quilting?
CJ- aw crap, wish we lived a little bit closer as I would meet you at the quilt show (probably would only be a 4 hour drive for me....ha ha ha). I am sure you will have a great time and those classes they have there (lectures) are usually very interesting. Enjoy. Safe travels and share your fun with us! Thanks for the jelly roll rug ideas....so very pretty.
Got to class this am. My head is swimming with the EPP directions, I hope to start tonight and see if I can make some sense out of it all. Funny on the way up to class my friend and I were discussing how important a chair can be especially for stippling. We got there and they had sewing chairs on special for $15!!!! What? I had a $10 coupon- so I got a chair for $5. She bought one too. Hope to give it a work out later on. But so far it seems perfect. Also bought my fabric for my sashing....now just have to master the 4 blocks (yikes) that I need to make this month. Hope I can figure out this EPP thing. The directions seem decent. I think.
BBL to see who else checks in G

CJ, thanks for another link. The shawl sure is pretty. This woman usually has her patterns written well so it should be easy to follow. I'm going to make one too....someday. I really need one for winter. I do have the Heartland yarn she suggests but I don't know what colors I have or how many. I'm sure it can be made in any yarn though but Heartland is a nice one.I hope you enjoy the quilt show and especially the demos.
Ginny, My head would be spinning also. I'd have to do the same and come home and work on it right away to get everything straight in my mind. That chair sale sounds fantastic! Wish I could get one like that. I need either a better chair or a better table to put my sewing machine on and actually probably both. I was at a thrift store yesterday too...it's next door to HL...I should have looked there and next time I go there I will.
At the Motor Vehicle the first line went very fast because there's not much that you do in there but the next line was quite long and took awhile.Nothing like it was back in NY though.Good thing I went though because while standing in line I finally read some of the paperwork and it says that if you're late in paying they charge a fee of 10% of what you owe or a minimum of $25. Just what I want to do is spend yet another $25 on a vehicle that I may not even be able to ever drive.
It was very warm today but tomorrow there saying now will be only in high 50's and dip down to low 30's in the night
Phyl, well I guess that's both good and bad. I guess your back is feeling better but it must not be 100% if the chiro said "this is a good as it will get" It would be great if you could do chair yoga on say a Mon and Thurs...spaced out a little. CAn you get a dvd and do them at home on one of the days you can't do them at the Y?
Oh and Ginny, I'm smiling at what you said because I also have another thing going which is a crochet letter s that I'm going to make into a pillow for my dgd. Her name starts with S.This headband is going to be a two color one because this cable uses a lot of yarn and I was using scraps so I have to do the second half with something that will look ok with it.I also still have one more bunny blanket bunny to finish...so many things in different stages of completion.
