I went out in the snow to cover my pots on the front deck. Oh dear! I check the weather report fairly carefully, and it wasn't supposed to be below freezing. I didn't realize it was snowing until I let out the dogs. Hey Mother Nature! It's June!!!

Oh My Sue!!! Snow in June?? Hope you had your feet covered when you went out. (Lots of times I will go barefoot on the deck).
Ruth,I do not even want to ask how many projects you have going!!! I do love the pillow idea! Pillows are an awesome way to express color and use color that the owner loves but might not want to wear. Well, I am somewhat relieved that your DMV lines were not horrific, but also made the situation in NY here sound more normal. I gotta say- I know you have been out of NY for many years and they have gotten much better. It used to be horrific, and a wait at DMV felt longer than the gestational period of an elephant. Its better and some of the DMV folks are actually pleasant, much better than it was years ago. But its still not a fun endeavor. Wish we lived close enough that I could pick up another $15 chair for you. My friend and I looked pretty funny walking out to my car pushing chairs. I am hoping it solves a lot of issues, and will be helpful with all the stippling I will be doing toward the end of this year. So glad you got into HL. Its a great store.....the one here plays spiritual music softly on the store audio system. Its so soft that you can hardly hear it, but still a nice gentle reminder of our purpose on this planet.
I was way too tired to quilt last night. Gonna take a look at those directions now. Keep your fingers crossed.... my friend is going away for a week (starting 6/15) and i think she “got it” more than I did. if I can just get one block done, then I should be ok with the process. Maybe. I hope. CJ- thinking of you happily going to that quilt show! Phyl- hope that you are comfortable today and get some bummin time in. Meg and Betty- you are missed!!! THink I will email Meg again- just to say hi.
Peace Ginny

GODO MRONING, NO THE BACK WILL NEVER BE 100%. SURE IS BETTER THEN WHEN I STARTED WITHE BACK CLINIC AND DR.PILITO.
THINKIG ABOUT IT NOW. 2 YEARS AGO WHEN THE URGENT CARE DOCTOR SAID HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING MEDICALLY WRONG WTIH ME AND WE CANCELED OUR TRIP TO GOT KY FOR OUR CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION THERE. REMEMBER THAT TIME?.
I BET IT WAS THE SICAIC NERVE AND THE ARTHRITIS AND DEGENERATION THEN ALSO. BOY THAT WAS PROBABLY THE MOST I HURT.AND FOR THE LONGEST. EVEN WENT UP THE UPPER BACK.THAT LASTED A FEW DAYS.YES I HAVE HURT SINCE THEN..
SUE GREAT ON THE CHAIR PRICE. ALSO GREAT LOST. LOSING TEN POUNDS IS WONDERFUL.
SUE OR GINNY CAN'T REMEMBER WHICH ONE LIKES PAPER PIECING. I HAVE NEVER TRIED THE ENGLISH PAPER PIECING. JUST THE REGULAR.PAPER PIECING. HAVE TAKEN AT LEAST 3 CLASSES. HAVING A HARD TIME GASPING IT. THINK BECAUSE I LET IT SCARE ME. ALSO I DON'T DO IT ENOUGH TO KEEP IN PRACTICE.
RUTH MOST QUILTERS USE A OFFICE CHAIR TYPE FOR SITTING.
I DID GO TO A MEDICAL STORE AND GET A CUSHION FOR PLACES I GO TO QUILT THAT JUST HAVE REGULAR CHAIRS. ONLY USED IT ONCE.
WILL TAKE THE CUSHION WITH ME NEXT WEEK WHEN WE GO TO JIM AND THERESA'S. THEIR COUCH DOSE ME IN. THEY HAVE LIKE WOODEN CAPTAIN CHAIRS WE WILL SIT ON IF WE SEW. MY CHIRO SAID THAT WOULD HELP ME. IT IS CALLED A KABOOTI . 25 OR 29 BUCKS.YOU MIGHT BE ABLE LOOK IT UP ON LINE IF YOU THINGK IT WOULD HELP YOU.PHYL

Sue, It didn't snow here yet anyway. It just rained but I don't know about tonight. I'll definitely be covering my plants just in case. I don' tknow what the temp got down to last night but they survived anyway and I hope your's did too.Although many parts of my state get snow into the summer, we've never had snow right here in June before...not that I can remember anyway and I thihnk I'd remember that. Friends of ours went to the Big Horn mts camping in July and had snow...it's not unusual there.
Ginny, yes after you finish the first block you'll know for sure if you love the process or hate it. I was going to ask how your friend did with the EPP and if she could help you if she understood it better but if she's going to be out of town guess that's not an option right now anyway. So each month they seem to be having you make one more block. Sounds like you'll soon have to make six blocks in the month so I hope they upcoming blocks are easier.
Phyl, yes most of the time they can't diagnose a back problem at instantcare type facilities. Nothing will show on xray if it's sciatica or other nerve pain except the arthritis and they still can't tell if it's causing a nerve compression for sure but they should know by the symptoms you describe. Mostly our symptoms may not be the so called "classic symptoms" and sometimes the PA's that work at those places aren't experienced enough nor had enough education to be able to diagnose when symptoms don't go exactly by the book.
I added the second color to my earwarmer. First color was wool ease in gold and the color I added is also wool ease but in a nice green so they work together very nicely.Next time though I'll use a smaller hook and maybe #3 yarn instead of #4. Now that I've made this particular cable I can visualize many things I can make with it.I'm glad I found it accidentally.

Ruth, wool ease is a lovely yarn to work with. I find it does not stick to the crochet hook and does not snag much. Its very stable to work with...the gold and green combination are beautiful. This cable stitch is a work horse for you- what else are you considering making with it?
Phyl- think its a great idea if you carry a kabooti or other cushion with you! Whatever works to keep you more comfortable. Yes, I do remember how uncomfortable you were a year ago, and even went to consider surgery. Not sure what the difference is between EPP and regular paper piecing- I do think that what they called EPP in class is really just paper piecing- and that is what I am doing. Yes, practice makes it easier.....I guess there are certain projects that lend themselves to using the technique. Anyway, will keep you in my prayers that your discomfort disappears or becomes managable.
Looked at the directions again, chose my colors and brought out all the cutting equipment. Guess I better start cutting this fabric. Lets hope I do not mess it up too badly G

Ginny, a friend was trying to cut the size of her yarn stash so sent me a ton of wool ease and wool ease like yarn. I use it mostly for the hats I donate and now have started to use the small amounts for ear warmers and will donate those also. She didn't specify that I should use the yarn only in things to donate but I know she is happy that I am using it that way because she is a person that cares about those that are less fortunate than she is.I also do use the small amounts left on skeins to make hats since hats are something that look great when you combine colors. I like to make stripe hats and especially stripes or sections with a different stitch and also love the way they look when you do a spike stitch. She also sent me a wonderful yarn that she had leftover from making her first greatgrandaughter a baby blanket so I used what she sent along with another yarn I bought to make it large enough for a baby blanket and made it for my first great grandaughter.Couldn't get the same yarn because it was discontinued but what i bought to go with it worked perfectl

hi, Ruth this was the walk in at our regular clinic. he could at least had said it was the arthritis. I think I could have gone once I was on the pills.
THE CHIRO showed me Thursday where the hip bone is narrowing. so for now the hip is not as bad as we thought it was. the ortho said most of it stems from the back. I MAY NEED HIP SURGERY SOMEDAY. SURE BETTER HAPPEN BEFORE I Am 80. that is 3 years. after that depending on my health I may not want surgery..
I HAD IT PLANNED FOR 4 OF US COUPLES TO MEET AT SLOOPY'S TONIGHT.. MARY JUST CALLED, TOM'S MOM FELL AT THE N.H. SO TOM AND HIS SISTER ARE AT THE HOSPITAL.
THE ONE COUPLE GOT SATURDAYS MIXED UP AND WENT LAST WEEK. SO IT COULD JUST BE TWO COUPLES.
MAYBE ANOTHER TIME WE CAN GET TOGETHER..LIFE HAPPENS.
2 OR 3 COUPLES WE ALWAYS HAVE FUN.
we have a couple of beers and eat. when the young crowd comes in and get loud we are out of there. we are usually home by 8 or a little after.
collage kids are out so may not be to bad tonight.phyl

Hello Crafters Lots going on with all of you. I've read all your posts and send good thoughts to those that need them. I went to the quilt show today. It was nice to see all the quilts, but I guess the style of quilt I like isn't really popular right now since I only saw a few out of 200 that I really liked. And the things the vendors were selling didn't interest me either. But there are lots of talented and creative people. I bought a few things in the guild's store (where members donate fabric and other items they don't want). I tried to keep it to a minimum since I don't really need any more fabric. I sat in on a demonstration on putting binding on a quilt by machine and that was interesting. I thought about going back tomorrow for some other demonstrations, but I'm just not that interested to do the drive again. There was a lot of traffic when I was leaving the show and I had planned to do some shopping, but just decided to come on home and get off the road. Take care everyone!

CJ- well I am glad you went! I hear ya, sometimes the quilt shows just do not have any quilts that appeal to a certain taste. I tend not to like the landscape/picture quilts. My taste tends toward the traditional, symmetrical almost Amish looking types. Other quilts do not really interest me......but it sounds like you had a good day anyway. Maybe the next quilt show will be more to your liking. Hope that the weather was good and I am glad you got home ok.
Phyl- so did you make it to sloopys this evening. That is too bad about Tom’s mom, who I hope is ok. Are they talking about hip replacement?
Ruth, well with a good creative effort you are using all that yarn in the most efficient manner. I love that you were able to find another yarn to perfectly work with the other yarn.
Still got nowhere with the quilt block....hope I can find some initiative. G

I don't care for landscape quilts either. I'm pretty much a traditionalist and prefer the "regular" quilts. CJ, I'm glad you found a couple things you liked.
Ginny, you will get your initiative back. You're pretty busy right now but you'll get back into it again.
As far as I know it didn't snow even though it got down to 30 in the night. If it snowed at all it was in the wee hours and I was asleep then it melted. I haven't heard anyone say they saw snow though
I finished the headband and am now working on a crochet tic tac toe game for my youngest grandaughter. The pattern calls for one layer for the "board" but I'm going to make two and put them together to make it sturdier. I'm also going to leave the top open so that the "board" can be used to store the tics and tacs which in this case are x's and hearts. I decided I should focus on her birthday for now but after doing one layer of the "board" I've been doing a little work around the house and then looking at patterns which I really do NOT need
I hope you are all having a good day. You must all be busy and I hope it's with something enjoyable. I've been thinking of Meg too. Have you heard back from her, Ginny?

Good evening!
Absolutely stinks that tomorrow is Monday. Just had to put that out there!!
Ruth, you had me howling, you are making aa crochet tic tac toe game?? Amazing and it sounds so adorable!! What a cute gift idea and something I have never heard of before. Is her birthday soon??
Dh and I hiked with an archeological group this afternoon to investigate rock formations once used by indians for shelter. (The indian inhabitants of our area is something that Dh is very interested in and has done a bunch of reading and research on.). Great weather and great views- we could see for hundreds of miles....too bad its supposed to rain tomorrow so that did interfere with a clear view in some directions.
Started on the newest quilt block and gave paper piecing a try. So far so good. Will finish the block in a day or so by adding the flying geese, which I have done before.
See ya’all tomorrow. Will email Meg then Ginny

Ginny, the walk sounds fantastic. They have something like that here every once in awhile too. Dh and I love to see rock formations and also collect rocks. I'm glad you found that the paper piecing was easier than you thought. I knew you could do it. I do love flying geese. They'll make a nice border if that's what you meant.
Well her birthday isn't until the end of August but you know how things are. Things come up, so I want to get this done. There are so many birthdays in the family from then until the beginning of Dec so I need an early start especially because I want to get going on that Cross afgan. The person that said she was going to post her pattern of the Cross and Dove wall hanging did post it. It's a paid pattern but I wouldn't mind paying if I thought I could do it but it's a c2c following a graph and I don't know that I could do that. Even if I could it probably would take me forever so guess I'll stick to the afgan. For the birthday girl Im making the game for I also want to make a crochet birthday cake and crochet Ice cream cone. She'll be 8 so still in the age range to enjoy crochet food and tea parties.
And yes, I was thinking earlier that it's Monday again tomorrow already.
