Hi all,
Happy Saturday! The kids are playing nicely with toys and it’s a bit of a misty day but the sun is trying to come out. DH and DSIL will he here in a few hours. I’d like to spiff the place up before they arrive but it’s mostly toys so no sense in doing that until nighttime! This brings back memories! Poor DSIL’s flight was canceled on one leg so he’s 5 hours late arriving and had to take 3 flights! San Francisco to philly to Dc to Boston! Yikes!
Wishing all a great day. My DGS will be 3 tomorrow ! Big part planned!!

I have run all my errands and am now back home and ready for lunch. I went to the jeweler to have batteries replaced in two watches, and they had a long line. So I was there for quite a while but finally got it done and then on to Meijer for a short list of perishables.
I now have all the ingredients to make bulgur/mango/avocado salad and Barley Tex-Mex salad and white bean/grape tomato salad as well as Krab macaroni salad - and lots of green salad makings! DH offered to help out with meals next week (when I'm working 3 full days in a row) so with the cold salads we'll be in good shape. I have plenty of meats to grill to go with.
Now on to making a small tossed salad for my lunch and then a sweet yogurt treat afterward. THEN on to finishing my book that I have so much invested in. I will hate to see it end, I am sure.
Judy ~ Enjoy those little ones. I would never let toys become an issue, they just go with the territory. At our house they always had to be picked up by day's end, but otherwise just enjoyed as decor. Bummer about DSIL's flight cancellation. Bet he will be really glad to get there!!
Ann ~ Enjoy your quiet time and reading. I plan to as well.

Sue, what are you reading? The book I'm into is Final Appeal by Lisa Scottoline. Next is another James Patterson series (I think #3) called Liar Liar. So many books, so little time as the saying goes

Ann ~ I am reading "A Price Worth Paying" by Kathryn Shay. I am enjoying it very much.
I made myself a salad for lunch using up some leftover chopped romaine and the rest of a tomato that we cut for our burgers the other night and a grilled chicken tender. I swear having chicken in my fridge is an absolute life-saver for me!! Because that all was 0 SP I enjoyed a Ken's Lite dressing (Creamy Garlic Parmesan) which tasted like a real treat for only 4 SP.
I got a text from DH's VBF's #2 son asking me to meet them for lunch. I had already eaten but enjoyed an iced tea and a fruit bowl - and DH was able to join us in between jobs - so it was a real get-together!! Now we're both home and I have the bulgur and the barley all cooked and in the fridge chilling to make my salads this week. I am also thawing out a pork loin for the crock pot and some Krab for a Krab/macaroni salad soon. YUM!! Planning is certainly KEY for me!!
Now to get back to my book and hopefully finish it before we think about supper.

Thanks for the book info, Sue. I just wrote it down.
Nice you were able to enjoy a real get together. I love when things fall into place like that.
Planning is key for me as well.....especially in the hot summer.

Good morning ladies. Got in another good sleeping night and woke up pain free. Win win in my books. Today we'll be hosting a cookout for our new neighbors. Looking forward to getting to know them better. They seem like a nice couple. It's going to be hot here today. We can either eat in the screen room with the fan on or if that's too hot, we'll come in with the AC up on blast Wishing AWF a wonderful OP Sunday.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Sunday!! We have a beautiful day on tap. We were able to open the window at bedtime last night and woke to temps in the 60's so now all the doors and windows are open. It will only get to 80 today (and late in the afternoon) so we may stay opened up. I certainly do appreciate the fresh air!! But it promises to become sweltering during the week, so we may have to close up and restart the A/C. Nice to have choices.
I received my delivery of two new pair of sandals from Shoe Carnival yesterday. Unfortunately one pair does not fit properly (my feet would need to be much taller) and they don't adjust, so they have to go back. My plan is to drive out to the Mall and return them to the store there and see what else they have. A bit disappointed, but all in all it will work out. I ordered brands that I have in the my closet already, so was certain they would be fine - but that was not the case.
Later will be lunch with DH's VBF for a visit before he heads north for his traditional 4th of July trip. We are planning to stay home this year as we missed our (traditional) Festival last year when we went to meet up with DH's baby sister and her hubby instead. We are looking forward to our 4th this year.
Ann ~ Enjoy your cookout and getting to know your new neighbors. Glad you also have choices in where to sit and how to stay cool. I agree that waking pain-free is a blessing!!
Judy ~ Hope your DSIL arrived safely. Enjoy the birthday celebration today!!
Pam ~ I am sure you are busy, as usual. Looking forward to hearing from you.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue so sorry the shoes need to be returned. Nice you have a shop in town you can return them to and hopefully find a more comfy pair.
It's raining on and off here. Right now the sun is out so I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
Waving to Judy and Pam.

Hi All ~
Well, I guess all's well that ends well. I went out to Shoe Carnival and had a great experience! I took both pair of shoes and was able to do an exchange as well as get a small refund.
The pair of Skecher sandals that were too tall were returned and the nicest young lady helped me find Skechers On-The-Go sandals in natural that came in my size and fit perfectly! I just love them!! The other pair were Earth Origins hiking sandal in Sedona Brown. The pair that were delivered had a couple of frayed threads on the right sandal, but my store had them in stock, and in my size - so we just switched them out for a brand new pair! When they re-rang my purchase I commented that I didn't want to pay more than I had, and sure enough the Skechers had just gone on sale so I got a $5.29 refund (which just about covered my original shipping cost). At any rate I am home with 2 new pair of sandals both of which I LOVE!! This is how I had expected to feel after the Fed-Ex man dropped off my package yesterday, just a tiny bit delayed :-)
We've had lunch and visited and now DH is watching Golf and I have some bills to write out and mail; and some emails and texts to answer. I hope to start a new book this afternoon as I have several waiting. The rest of the day will just be chillin' ......

Hello friends! I have had a busy couple of days! Yesterday, I went to early Mass and then attended a theology class on scripture. It was all day with breakfast, lunch and snacks served. I brought a yogurt with me and had that with fruit and skipped the donuts and sweet rolls, though they did look delicious. They had placed little piles of Hershey's miniatures on the table in front of each seat. I kept out 2 dark chocolate ones and pushed the others aside. Lunch was pastalaya (jambalaya made with spaghetti, instead of rice) salad and a roll. I skipped the roll and ate double salad. I did indulge in a cookie at afternoon break, but had points to cover. The class was very good and I felt like I learned a lot. While there, I was asked by another attendee if I would facilitate a weekly Bible study in the fall and I said yes. Usually, between our church and the chapel 10 miles north, there are several sessions on different dates and times, so they need several facilitators to make it work. I will take a turn and do the Sunday afternoon class. When I got home, I went next door to let the neighbors' cat out for a while. We ate a quick burger and then went to a retrospective on the 1971 Celebration of Life music festival which was held just north of here at McCrae, LA. Several local musicians(including the sheriff) performed music for an hour or so, then a professor from one of the state universities gave a talk on the history of music festivals, including McCrae, that was fascinating. He mentioned the Ozark Mountain Music Festival in Sedalia, MO in 1974, which I had also attended and I enjoyed relating my experiences to him afterwards. Finally, they screened a video about Celebration of Life that had some local people in it, which everyone enjoyed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlvMH42r4vg if you want to see it. When we got home, we went next door to round up Sam and get him settled indoors for the night. We had fun visiting with friends and acquaintances last night. I talked to a gentleman who was obviously not local (he was wearing a sports coat) and learned I already knew him as he was an attorney and had worked at the same state agency where DH and I worked back in the 1990's. His family had owned property at McCrae and he went with his dad to check on things during the 8 day rock fest. He was 9 and "saw some sights!" We also met a couple who just purchased my deceased uncle's house in my neighborhood and will be moving here from New Orleans to retire. Turns out, the husband is my cousins' cousin from their mom's side of the family. They seemed very nice, so we invited them to church and to join the Cultural District group once they are settled in. This morning, I went to early Mass here and sang in the choir, came home for a quick breakfast of fruit and yogurt, then went to the later Mass at the chapel to support our RCIA candidates who received a special blessing today. Lucky for me, Father's homily was very good and I really enjoyed hearing it a second time. I let Sam out, had a light lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon in the lazyboy reading the paper, napping and playing computer games. DH made Cajun Soutache, one of my favorite dishes, for dinner. We had fresh tomatoes and deep-fried squash slices as sides. I would have preferred the squash baked in the oven, but since I wasn't the chef, I just had less and thanked DH for cooking. He did use lf cream cheese in the soutache, for which I was grateful. We got Sam settled at home and then watched a couple of episodes of Covert Affairs. I am on my 2nd day staying OP--again! It seems I struggle so much lately. Sue - Good job with the shoe shopping! I hope you got all rested up. Spending the day with a bunch of 3rd graders would tire me out, I'm sure! I am not at all familiar with bulgar or barley as a salad ingredient. I will have to google and see what comes up. Ann - Congrats on making some new friends. You did a good deed in giving them a welcome and a new friendship is your reward. Judy - So sorry your DSIL had such a difficult travel day. I hope Anna and I fare better when we fly to MI in a couple of weeks. Wishing birthday blessings for your little one! Time to get jammified and read some.
