Well, had DD and the grandkids here for several hours, so it was a crazy day indeed. Gotta say they do better when its just me and I just lay down the law... so I suppose you could say it was a slightly stressful morning.... Heading out tonight to run some errands....doubt there will be any crafting today.
Its gotten hot and a bit humid here. Blessed to have an airconditioner working so that I can remain human. Ruth, CJ, Phyl, Becky, Sue and Meg, hope each of you has a great day Ginny

Ginny, as I've mentioned my dd and her children have always lived in this same town and I have to say that when they were little and came over here or I babysat them at their home they did much better too when it was just me and them. I hope your errand go quickly and you can get back home and relax. Sorry that you won't be doing any crafting today...maybe tomorrow. Sue, so sorry about your dear friend and I hope that the others at quilting will respect her memory. When I went to the CAps for Kids meetings there was never a political discussion for which I was very happy. Even if other's agree with my point of view I don't think that it's a topic to be discussed at a crafting get together. Well I've finished the body of the sweater and the ribbing for the bottom. Now I have to decide if I really want to make the hood. It would be easy to make but it doesn't really serve a purpose because there's no drawstring to pull it close around the baby's face so I may just go for a ribbing around the neck.Plus then I won't have to do the seam down the middle of the top of the hood. I'm not good at all with seams. Then I'll just have the sleeves to go. What do you think, ladies? Hello Crafters Sue - I'm sorry for your loss. Ginny - Hope you get some rest after the family being there. Ruth - I hope disarming the alarm will help with the car problems. That's a cute little sweater, thanks for sharing the link. It's very hot and humid here. I was outside around noon for only about 10 minutes (picking up trash in the driveway and in front of the house) and was sweating before I came back in. So I'm staying in and keeping cool by not doing much. Looks like we have another week of all 90+ days. I cut out the pieces for one of the canning jar quilt blocks this morning and I'll try to put it together in the next few days. I want to go out next week and get the fabric I need for the background and the lids. Take care everyone!

Good morning!
Just gonna post quickly here and will BBL
Ruth, that sweater is adorable!! ( I forget what color are you making it and are you doing stripes?). I love the hood....but absolutely see what you are saying that it does not have a drawstring to close it. What I like about hoods, especially for the 3 to 6 month age is that if you were putting that on a baby at that age (and at that age they are not moving a lot) just pulling the hood up over the babys head while in a car seat would suffice for protection from a chill. But if you are not a big fan of doing seams, I get it. So skip the hood. Noone will know the difference.
CJ- cannot wait to hear how you fare finding cute fabric for the mason jar quilt! Do you have a store in mind, or will this be a day of travelling from store to store for you? Hope that the weather is better for shop hopping when you go next week. Its hot here too in NY. Hope that AC is working well and you are staying comfortable.
Gotta throw a batch of muffins in the oven and then go outside to do some weeding. For wedding pictures I want the front walkway looking its best....and it needs some work . G

Good morning Ginny and all. Yes I need to do some weeding too but not because of a wedding of course. It's to be quite hot today but it's also windy so may put that off for a couple days. There's a lot to do though. Yes I was thinking the same thing about the hood. It could be pulled up just to cover the head. I might still do it. Oh I'm making it in Pound of Love in creamsicle color with white stripes. It's for my oldest grandaughter's expected baby.I love the narrow stripes but I'm already thinking of how many different ways you could make it with thicker and thinner stripes and even little spike stitches or make the stripes in a different stitch pattern...Maybe an X stitch or moss stitch or something like that for a different look and texture.I'm working on the sleeves now...first is almost done, then I'll decide on the hood but I think I may go ahead with a hood. I love hooded sweaters.
Have a good day everyone. I'll bbl too

Hello Crafters
Ginny - Hope you don't have to stay outside in the heat too long to do that weeding. I do have a quilt store in mind to go to next week, so hopefully I can get there.
Ruth - The creamsicle color sounds pretty for the sweater, nice for a little girl.
It's very hot here today and will be for the next week. I'm staying in as much as possible
I finished piecing my test block for the jar quilt and it went together very quickly. There are quite a few pieces to the block, but I think I might be able to do some chain piecing once I start. I like the black for the background so I need to get out and buy some more fabric. I'm hoping to do that next week. Maybe over the weekend I can get the jar part of the block cut out from all the fabrics I have - I think there are 10 or 12 different ones.
Take care everyone!

Phyl, I've never seen any discussions on Ravelry at all. I never to to their groups only to the patterns so I have no idea what this is about except for when I went to the general Ravelry page the other day to look for a pattern, one of the mods had that thing about not allowing people on there that support the president. Then she had the while speil about gays so don't know what that was about either.I've only gone there to get free patterns...nothing else

Ginny, it's too bad it's so hot and humid just when you need to be outdoors weeding. Wish I lived near, I'd come and help. I did a little here today too but very little actually but that spot does look a lot better. Maybe after the wedding you'll have more crafting time. I did stop working on the sweater for today. Today was the day for the weekly new hat pattern for the CAL. ...as if I need more patterns . As I mentioned I didn't care for last week's pattern so did a different hat. This week's pattern looks really nice but she has you do a dc in the third loop which is really time consuming and not all that easy. I did one but now I've decided to revise her pattern and do a hdc in the third loop which is much easier. And I'll adjust as needed to make it large enough since using the hdc's will make it smaller. My first one actually came out really small but since they aren't for a specific person it's fine. I went to the group and another woman is doing the same thing I am. I also am going to do the first sleeve on the sweater over. I don't like how it came out. I left it intact though till I see how the second one comes out before I rip out the first. It could be that the second will be the same and if they match I might leave it. I am going to make the hood. I've decided that I'll never learn to make nice seams if I don't try. It's hot here but I'm not complaining. Better hot than cold and have things happen like pipes freezing and getting stuck in the driveway.

Ruth, you need more patterns! That is what keeps you inspired!!!! 😃 I am sure the hood will turn out great. Wish we lived closer, and I would just have you over for tea instead of helping me with the dreaded weeding.
Got up early, and by 8:30 I had gone for my walk and finished the weeding- plus 2 other things on my to do list. And its already 82 degrees here. Yuck. Got the grandkids coming over soon- am babysitting them until 4:30. Hope to get some downtime tonight. Ginny

Yesterday one of my dogs turned into an escape artist and took herself for a walk. The big back gate was slightly ajar. The little rascal was found four houses away and was glad to be rescued. The gate is secured.
Badly robins are ready to fledge in two different nests. I saw a baby rabbit. All this without having to leave the yard!
Last night I almost finished winding a skein of yarn. It's taking longer than it should because one of the dogs thought it was a new toy and it got a little tangled before I started.
The temperature is lovely this morning but will be too warm for me this afternoon. I'd better get busy now!

Ginny, you are definitely an early bird. Congrats on getting the weeding all done and your walk in already. Have fun with the grandbabies.
Sue, yes little pets make good escape artists. We have baby robins too. I haven't seen any other birds nesting yet but I'm not outside much. Our hummers didn't like the new feeders I got and the old ones leaked so no hummers this year. I need to look for new feeders for next summer. We've had a lot of what I think are nighthawks lately. I don't know what they're doing flying around so much during the day.Sounds like your little helpers were at work on your yarn
well the truck saga continues. Dead as a doornail this morning so disconnecting the alarm didn't help. Next will be a trip to the Honda dealer for more diagnostic tests.
My revision of the hat pattern turned out great. It's really pretty. I made it with wool ease in a lilac color with a middle section of white. The white is pound of love so is thicker than the wool ease which is a thin #4 so the white section stands out and looks really nice. Some little girl will love this hat.Normally as you all know when you mix thicknesses of yarn it doesn't always have a very good look.

Hello Crafters Ginny - Hope you can get your weeding done before it gets too hot each day. Sounds like you have the same heat and humidity I have. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to change up the new hat pattern to work for you. It took me awhile before I could do that with patterns - I always felt like I had to follow them exactly. Hope you can get that truck running. Sue - I'm glad you dog didn't get too far and was alright, I'm sure you were worried. Phyl - I hope your back is feeling better today. Sometimes there are animals in my yard too, which you would think wouldn't be here with all the traffic. It's fun to see the baby bunnies but I always worry about them, the mother seems to make her nest in the worst places. I had a bird build a nest in the exhaust fan of my bathroom this year. I kept trying to chase them out but I can't reach the fan from outside, so I just gave up. I've heard two different groups of baby birds in there but it's been quiet for a week, so maybe that's all for this season. I also have a groundhog in the yard too, they are interesting to watch. And then this morning there were 2 turkey buzzards in the road that runs beside my house. I was not too happy to see those, they are fascinating in a morbid kind of way. I starched and pressed the fabrics for the canning jar quilt this morning. I have 14 fat quarters of fabric and I can easily get 4 "jars" out of each piece, that would make 56 blocks, which is probably as big as I want to get. I was thinking I could do 7 jars across and 8 jars down. I'm going to have borders on this quilt too, so it will end up being pretty large. I also pressed two other fabrics I have (each are 2 yards). The colors are pink and white and I think I'll use these to make another square in a square quilt top. I really liked how easy that was to make and with more fabric I can make a larger one. Take care everyone!

CJ, there used to be birds that built nests in the exhaust opening for our clothes dryer. Finally dh climbed up ther and make a gulaard for it with fishing line. The animals in your yard sound interesting. We don't have groundhogs here but we do have those ugly turkey buzzards. It sounds like your mason jar quilt is going to be quite large and it sounds interesting too. I've never seen one so I'm going to go now and look them up
I wasn't paying attention while crocheting and in the middle of a row way back I suddenly changed to a different stitch so had to rip it out all the way back. I decided that I am going to do the dc in the third loop because like seams, I need practice with that. I'm always in a hurry to get things done but I made myself do this and now know where that loop is.
