Good morning!
The sun is bright! Not much planned for today. Just glad to be done with bursitis.
I am waiting to hear from a surgeon’s office for consultation regarding my broken tooth. Oh, joy! I may go for the implant!

Phil that's one of the problems - all cats are on the counter! This morning I did distract them so got it done quickly. But feel so sorry for Maybean as he just looks so tired and his tail is swishing all the time. Not sure what that means with cats. He did go downstairs this morning to see what the kittens were up to and once again had to cover their business and then just sighed and sat down to keep an eye on them. I think he's missing not only Debbie but Maija as she's been gone two weeks with four more to go.

Sandy, just as you are thinking, a cat swishes his tail to show agitation. You might scoop him up and take him home with you for the day. The kittens will probably be fine on their own. ~~Molly

I've been through South Dakota, but we didn't stop visit the museums. We saw the Corn Palace and Mount Rushmore from a distance. We made two trips to Detroit, one in an RV and one in a car. My late husband's parents and siblings lived there.
Robins have built a nest on the light above the garage and another on the beam under the back deck. The babies are ready to leave the nests. Yesterday I startled a baby rabbit when I was watering the flower pots on the front deck. Soooo cute!
One of the dogs got out yesterday. The big gate wasn't properly closed. There's a piece of metal tubing that is supposed to drop into a metal pipe, and it hadn't. Either that or the wind which was extremely gusty the night before. I found her about four houses down the street. She was headed for home.

Hi! No, I haven't been to Mt Rushmore. Darn it! Another place I'd like to see, but too much walking. Sandy, I feel so sorry for poor Maybean. I am also amazed tha t he feels responsible for the kittens' behavior.
It will be another warm day here -- about 92* or so for a high -- with sun. We went to breakfast this morning, and are now in. Well, DH has gone to pick up DGD3 and when they get back, I'm ready to make her favorite breakfast -- scrambled eggs and toast. She'll probably spend most of her time on the computer, but she'll also visit with us a little while. DS will pick her up about 3:00 or so.
The dryer has just buzzed, so when they get back, the laundry will be folded and put away, and that should be our last chore.
No other plans right now, so, as Doris says, "We'll see what comes up!"
Be happy!
Diane

Cat,
I hope you can get that broken tooth fixed soon no matter what you plan to have them do. The dentist may have some good suggestions too.

Have not visited Mt. Rushmore. I did visit with friends in TX and we enjoyed San Antonio and the River Walk. It is a busy place at times. Great tacos!

It's going to be another hot & humid day. I don't get along very well with heat, humidity & bugs. That's why I prefer winter.
Waldo took off chasing an adult rabbit this morning. DH saw him so went to get him right away. Another camper saw him too & thought that was pretty cute. A stray cat came through our site & Waldo took after it also. Guess he got his exercise for today ..... while protecting his domain.
Sandy, congrats on the loss. Wish that was happening here. Of course strawberry shortcake doesn't help me lose! Think I'm retaining fluids also - my rings are tight. Between rain & heat I haven't been walking either.
Lucy, I never considered us any different then anybody else when growing up & we probably weren't. I lived in the country & went to country school so all of us "were in the same boat". I was always ashamed of being on welfare though so I must have picked up on the negative talk regarding welfare recipients. Words do hurt when we least expect it. I remember visits from our welfare rep checking up because people reported Mom for earning additional money. I know once was when she babysat for my pre-school niece all week & my brother gave her $10.00. That was laughable, but legally wrong & shameful to me. Welfare thought winter fuel bills justified an extra $10.00. Thank you for your comments.
Phyl, yes thanks for a great job with the thread. I learned so much about bugs(yes BUGS) and everything else. You made it special & now it's almost time for you to take a rest! I'm looking forward to October & the other months to see what the gals have for us.
QOTD, yesterday & today. Yes I've been to both places but only seen one. I had a horrible headache when at the Grand Canyon & only got out of the car long enough to look into one cavern. At the time we were on a trip west with the boys to Philmont Scout Camp in NM. I wanted to see the painted desert too but DH got so upset with me over the Grand Canyon episode that he drove through the painted desert at night. He had seen all this previously so was a little bored. He doesn't like tourist spots & definitely wants to breeze through if we do go. Maybe if you've seen it before I can understand that. But in his defense it was a crazy trip & we were rushed. We were tent camping & at a different campground every night. Our tent was huge(two rooms) & a beast to set up & take down every day. That became the real issue for him. On the way home he never stopped one night except for a break & to nap in the car at a rest area. He refused to set up that tent another night & I don't think he ever did.
Mt Rushmore was a different trip that just the two of us took. DH had seen it before too but it was a more enjoyable trip. We had a small trailer then & got our rest with less work. No squabbling kids either. It was a slower pace - no deadlines to meet. I loved Mt Rushmore & really enjoyed the evening patriotic program. Things like that are very emotional for me. I tear up singing the Star Spangle Banner.
The San Marcos Mall was open & bigger then ever 4 years ago. Quite a few higher end stores that I never shop at. We use to go to Outback Steakhouse for a special occasion. Cracker barrel is also there:)

thank you all for the nice comments from day today I appreicate them.
Lucy thanks for the jumping pig, cute and I love it.
yes I agree now that molly has joined the group in starting us (I hope) it is nice to have a 3-4 or 5
do not make any plans for Sunday we are going out of June with a big bang. food is taken care of so you bugs can relax.more tonight.
yeah I have outdid myself this month, sure don't know where all the ideas popped into my head.
MOLLY I have been to Nancy's in Beaver Dam several times. I would get the girls together and be the driver. haven't been there for several years.
we would go in May when they had the sewing expo. we would shop, eat, sit in on demonstrations and lectures ,and maybe take a Class.
sometimes we would sit in on the sewing for charity.
watching the style show was fun. amazing to see what the kids would make.
they did not do the sew day. they had designers come in and you could talk to them and watch demos.
when I called they said the sew expo would be back next year. my doubts started then.I figured changes would be made when she died.
the quilt expo is is Madison this September they suppose to keep that going according to her farewell letter.we will see.
when she came out about her cancer the quit expo was packed with more people then ever. think they may have thought it was the last one.not sure if we will go this year.
I feel sorry for her 2 granddaughters . she was teaching them to sew. they will never know the talent and tricks grandma had.yes they can watch the videos, not like having grandma there.she could tell them something that is not on the videos.
Nancy will be gone 2 years in November.
I have her book all my seams. was a little disappointed in it.Nancy talked alot about her life and going up.also very much about farming. nothing wrong with those subjects.
several of us feel she could have talked less about those subjects and more about the business. we would have liked more information on the business.
2003 is when she sold out to Tacony people.they are a company that buys small business.that is when she stopped carrying pfaff machines and switched over to baby locks.
how that got started is when financial people and lawyers asked where did they want to be in so may years.
on the way out of Beaver Dam a friend pointed out their house.big house on a hill.does her dh still live in it I do not know. they use to have a house in town.
there is you rhistory lesson. phyl

Phyl, that dancing pig is Wilber. That is Charlotte's Web. The first book DD read and she read it many times even hiding to read it when she was afraid she would be laughed at for being too old. She still loves to watch the movie.
Marlene, I think you must be younger than me. I grew up before anything like that. I went to a 3 room school after we had to move out of the other school district because the lake was coming. I then went on to highschool in town. As far back as I can remember there were no free lunches at least not where I was. So I don't think welfare had started yet.
I remember carrying my lunch after I got in highschool because I could still have my 'lunch money' which my dad alloted for each day. I would save it. I was a penny pincher and still am. I ate school lunches all my elementary days.

AOTD - yes, I have been to Mt. Rushmore. It's awesome when you go around a curve and there is the sculpture in front of you. We took a bus trip when my daughter was going into second grade. It was mostly Senior citizens on the bus and she was the only child. She had lots of "grandparents" on that tour. We saw the Passion Play, the Corn Palace, Wall Drugs, buffaloes, and lots of other things. Tried a buffalo burger and really liked it. Plans for today include Puppy Cuddling and church. 9 golden retriever puppies 7 weeks old. They are future Service Dogs. We as volunteers get the first chance at cuddling, then it opens up to the public. They are cuddled to get used to different people handling them. (Waylon can't go since the puppies don't have much immunity yet. No big dogs are allowed.) It's currently 88 degrees with predicted high of 90.

Lucy, I will be 81 in August. When we moved in town & I first heard of the school lunch program, I don't recall any free lunches either. Mom had a good paying job by then & we were off welfare so even if there were free lunches, I would not have gotten them. I did eat the hot lunches. In fact I worked in the lunch room for a while making sandwiches or just buttering bread. That didn't last very long. Maybe they had a law opposing kids helping. We didn't get a discount on our lunches for helping anyway. That was probably my first volunteer "job".

Oh, Marlene, I will be 80 in August. Maybe they just did not have anything like that where I lived or I just was not aware of it. Lots of kids brown bagged. I even folded my brown lunch sack to be reused over and over. Almost daily I carried tuna sandwich an homemade cookies, usually oatmeal. Bought a coke at the store across the street for a nickel. Sometimes I would get a nickel package of Fritoes.

QOTD yesterday
It has always been illegal to buy or sell fireworks in Pa until last year but still not selling all the big stuff. As a kid our town had a big parade on the 4th and fireworks in the evening in middle of town in the high school fields. Even after we moved to returned to that place as lot of relatives lived there. We rented a room from year to year so we could get a room on the street side. Lot of the elderly family would come to our room to watch out the windows. NO AC in those days and just remember that little fan not doing much for that one big room. No kitchen just a bedroom and bath.
We have done fireworks in here ourselves. Yes were are those idiots. My DH was a big fan and we invited all the neighbors and friends and had one big 4th of July blow out. We were out in the country and lot of property and we did pick up the next morning early if some ended up in the neighbor's area. Now I just sit outside and watch the fireworks that go off around me, do not go into town to the park to watch the big ones and the trees have grown so much can't see them from here. Can hear the big boomers and they bring back very good memories. Lot of them.
QOTD today.
No I have not traveled that way in my life time. But Phyl, love your posts about traveling. We did the east side of the US and I did make it Punta Cana 10 years ago and also flew a couple of times to my brother's in California. I met with a girl I met on WW board when I first started on it and we had lunch. My brother took me to the restaurant and said call when you are done as he knew we would want time. Well told her I would call my brother when we were ready to leave, so she left and then I realized I didn't have the phone number in my cell phone, nor did I have my address book!!! Oh boy. I called my DD at work and and with her organizational skills she had put the number in her cell phone as she knew I would be there for 2 weeks. WHEW!! Never told a soul but her and now you guys. I was so embarrassed!! and a little scared!! Well maybe a lot scared!!! ( Couldn't even remember his address I was so upset!! )
Phyl, I agree you have really outdid yourself this month and I have enjoyed every minute, was going to take a break but was afraid I would miss something.
Looking forward to tomorrow now!!
oh Cat I really do hate anything dental. All my vacations I could have taken have been taken away by dental procedures. Have no insurance!! I bet my dentists of all kinds have been on a cruise thanks to me.!!! My brother and I both wonder why we have had so many issues. My Dad never even had a cavity and had beautiful teeth all his life. Couldn't get those genes from him???
