Dogs love their belly rubbed but have never had a cat that likes that. Watch out for that swishing tail. My cat loves her head scratched behind her ears and sometimes her neck but then off she goes. they are independent critters not like dogs who want all your attention all the time. I am going to feed my DDs two tuxedo cats and believe me it is tough to just rub behind their ears a little. But they will meet me at the door and I talk to them and they seem to like that. The one likes to go out and sit on your lap on the deck of the pool but the other ones won't go out with you at all. He will sit at the door and look out but when you come near the door she is off and running through the house.
When I stayed over night when they had the dog, the two would sleep together on the bottom of my bed.
Calli will be listening to the fireworks in the neighborhood and no they don't bother her, neither does thunder, lightning and down pours.

Lucy, what is your birthdate? Mine is the 22nd. I brown bagged it, too. Not sure how long but think I did a few years when I went to grade school in town. Don't recall what my sandwiches were. During winter at the country school, we could bring jars of soup to have with our sandwiches. There was a two burner hotplate & someone would be assigned to heat a large pan of water. Our jars of soup would be put in the water to be warmed. That was our hot lunch. Only the upper grades got to heat the water/soup & I couldn't wait till I was old enough to do it. I don't recall ever doing it so maybe we moved before I got old enough. Soup with our sandwiches was quite a treat when it was cold out. My teacher lived in town which was about an 8 mile drive. We lived about a block from the school so Mom would get up early to go to school & start the wood burning furnace so it was warm when the teacher arrived. That was not a paying job. Perhaps it was a perk for the teacher in addition to her salary. When roads were bad the teacher would stay overnight at one of the students homes. Times sure have changed.
Connie, my Waldo loves his belly rubbed. Also likes his ears & head scratched but we could rub forever on his belly. He is a very person orientated cat so maybe that is why. He'll lay on our lap for long periods of time too. When we have been gone, he meets us at the door with a hello 'meow'. Depending on how long we've been gone, he follows us around meowing till we sit down so he can lay on our lap. Some days he'll follow me around meowing & circling my legs till I sit down & hold him.
Wow, page three already. Maybe I've been too gabby today:)

My birthday is 16th. I started school in one school district. Then we moved just a few miles and I was in the school district that I was in until fall of 6th grade. I remember there was not a cafeteria. The meals were cooked and trays were brought to the classrooms and we ate at our desks then went out to play as we finished. When we had to move to the other side of the school district because of the lake taking people's property which was a farm for us we moved to a farm in the country school district. Son called and talked a good while and I lost my train of thought.

Yes Maybean does like his head scratched behind the ears and he also greets us with a meow when we go in. I can't bring him here as I have no litter box and it would just be a big hassle so I just let him work through things as he still has to deal with the kittens even when Debbie and Maija are there.

Oh gosh, I love talking kitty!!! There are so many people with dogs that I sometimes feel like I am the only one that is a kitty person. Have had so many over the years and all are different with loads of personality.
I brown bagged my lunch through all 12 years and then even into my first job. everything from Balogna sandwiches, one of my favorites-- no peanut butter and jelly though that one I hated and still do. but give me peanut butter and pickle and I am happy camper. My Mom made pizza before pizza was popular and it was so good cold, my friends used to bed for some!! I like the stinky salami also in my sandwich. In grade school there was a lot of different things in brown bags. No free lunches back then. the one school I went to you could go home for lunch if you walked to school but my Mom was usually busy with babies so I didn't do that. Hated milk which we did get at school. Not even chocolate milk so drank out of the water fountain. they are a thing of the past as well anymore. All our schools have bottled water now.

Connie, I love PBJ, but I carried tuna sandwiches and had my PBJ on a left over crispy browned breakfast biscuit after school. Mama would cut the leftover biscuits in half and stick them back in the oven to brown.
Now my DD was a different sort and if it were today I would be turned in and she would probably be taken away from me. She made her own lunch when she got old enough and she put mustard on both slices of bread. Put them together. At lunch she would pull them apart and crumble her potato chips on it and that was it.
Son carried PB and butter and sugar mixed together and spread on his sandwich. A little more healthy.
Wow it is H O T out. Bearly wanted to go out so we walked up to the mailbox. Hard to breath. I won't be talking about going camping for awhile!

Thunder. It has showered already and dropped the temp to 75. Evidently the weather did not know it was to stop at the river. Bearly and I took our walk. YEA! GOODNIGHT

Connie, I'll be happy to talk cats with you! Casey rolls to his back to get his belly scratched. The large white patch on his belly is in the shape of a bird! He likes to be petted and scratched most anywhere at any time. He will sit on anyone's lap if they happen to sit down in the living room. We keep lint rollers in every room -- he isn't long-haired, but sure sheds a lot!
I've spent the afternoon going through the shows and movies available on Amazon Prime. I really like what's available, so I may cancel Netflix. It's the same price, and I sure don't need both. The new watchband and covers arrived today. I'm very stylish now with a red-rimmed cover and a navy blue band on the watch.
The muffins are baked as well as some lemon bars (Wow! They are good!) We finished some leftover spaghetti meat sauce for lunch -- didn't actually have the spaghetti pasta, but used bow-tie pasta instead. My fridge was overflowing with take-out boxes from restaurants. I threw some out, but I think we will have catfish and steak for supper. The counter is clean and dishes are washed.
It's 6:30 p.m. and 92 degrees -- so you know it's been hot today. With all the rain we've had, the humidity is heavy.
Phyl, thank for the additional info on Nancy Zieman's business and life. Were both of her children adopted? I see one is Asian, so I'm pretty sure he was. His wedding photos were online as well. Thanks, too, for doing such a wonderful job keeping the thread interesting! You have done well, my friend!
See you tomorrow! ~~Molly

Wow, look at page 3!!
AOTD: I have never been to Mt. Rushmore but have driven thru South Dakota. We always were headed from NY to CA when we drove so didn't stop to see anything....Had a looong trip and too few days to enjoy the sights.
Connie: I told my DD #1 about the mall. She researches things before we go so she'll find out if it is still there. We have a San Marcos here in southern CA also. It is north of San Diego but not far. Jim's oldest DSon lives there - less than an hour from us.
We leave for the beach house tomorrow - not looking forward to it at all....Just too hard there.
Tucking you all in now in SKY BLUE BLANKETS COVERED WITH BLINKING FIREFLIES....sweet dreams!
