Good morning!!
Phyl- so sorry that your sciatica has flared up. Yes, pain can be so overwhelming that its fun doing absolutely nothing. Think you went to the chiropractor last week and it sounds as though this flare up is calming some. I will pray that the improvement continues. What a cool idea for CJ- to use lightening bug fabric! Pretty sure that CJ has a good eye for what she wants in the design of her mason jar quilt, but if it was me, I would put one jar with lightening bugs in the quilt somewhere just for fun. Anyway, hope you are feeling better.
Ruth, congrats on getting so many hats done! Forgive me, does 3 hats in a week keep you on target for your goal? Did you finish the adorable sweater with the hood?
CJ- yes birds get into places they should not be. Hope you get some weather for at least a day or so, where you can open windows and not listen to the airconditioners. Now that you have gotten all your jars cut out, I am sure you will find a good use for the remaining fabrics. Quilters can always find a good use for extra fabric!! Love the idea of a wall hanging with smaller jars. And your design idea of having the jars on a shelf is so sweet. Wish we could see each others crafting efforts!!
Well, yes I did power wash and got done all I wanted to. I am not a big fan of taking on big work projects on Sunday....we had the weather to do that. Not a very good reason, however. Last night Dh and I sat out under the gazebo, and I built a nice fire (we have a small firepit). All in all a decent evening, Dh was in a good enough mood. This minor break in crafting in a way is nice- giving me some time to think about where I want to go next in crafting. Had a long chat after church yesterday with pastors wife (who goes up with me for BOM). Guess I got my crafting in then, chatting about BOM and the adorable baby quilt she is working on.
A lovely cold front came in mid day yesterday, and we were able to shut off the AC. So nice to feel the cool air (59 degrees) and listen to the birds. Think its a one day hiatus- how weather returns soon.
Have a great day all Ginny

Good afternoon and happy Monday to you all.
Ginny, I'm smiling here because my goal is constantly changing.I was going to make a hat a day...well of course that didn't work out. So now I do thing that a goal of three makes more sense and is more attainable so that's my new goal. I only made two last week I think.
I'm still working on the sweater but am on the second sleeve which originally was the first sleeve. I ripped it out and started that one over and I think it's working out better. Again I hope to finish it today but you never know. I do have to go out and water my plants and maybe cut some more border weeds and I just finished cooking some things which, even though there were things to sautee and cut up it's only one dish so I have to think up some more for this coming week. Of course Thurs is the 4th which really doesn't mean any activities for us.I'm going to take my truck to Honda Wed so they can do some testing on Friday..this seems like an unending thing.

Hey, Ruth, at least you have goals!! And you get somewhere near attaining those goals. You lovingly make gifts for all your family and they are super creative too. (Never ever heard of a domino set crocheted!). Good news that the sweater is working out ok for you. I have always made flat things, never a sweater which actually has to fit. Ok I have made hats.....which are not too painful. Anyway, a goal of 2 or 3 hats is a good goal- and something which should not stress you. Hope you were able to accomplish what you wanted to.
We need rain here...funny it was so wet here and now seems dry. I have gone through some wedding stuff today- am finally starting to downsize some of the mountains of paperwork, now that final numbers are in and we are in the home stretch. Went to Lowes this am with Dh, got a few items to spruce up the front of the house (wedding pics). Its hot here, right now in the 80’s and its almost 7 pm. No crafting today....the closest I did to crafting was text pastors wife with something I found out about finishing a quilt she is making.
Have a good night all G

We have had some intermittent T showers this afternoon. Not very long though.
I've been trying to turn on the sprinklers since Friday without much success. I called my sprinkler guy early this afternoon, and he was here at the house within half an hour. It took him about ten minutes to fix the problem and replace one sprinkler head! He's excellent, and he just happened to be down the street!
This afternoon I had some help with my new rock garden. Tucked a mixture of soil and sand into the pockets between rocks on a slope and will be putting in some sedums and hens and chicks. They do very well even in our super cold climate. I'm creating a living quilt from natural materials!

We had just a little rain last evening but very soon the sun was back out again. Sue your yard sounds like a artist's pallette for sure. I never thought of hens and chicks for between my rocks on my slope. I might have to steal that idea.I'm glad you got help...I hope it was human help and not doggie help I'm sure the puppies love to help you. Well the sweater is done. I even weaved in all the ends. It's not perfect but hopefully my grandaughter will like and use it. It, of course wont' fit a newborn. Everything is always too large for them and her last baby was at just 5# If I get time I may make another with baby yarn and a smaller hook. I have about three months in which to do it but I have a lot of other things I need to do too so we'll see.Do babies even still use sweaters? Now I have to get my list and see what my next project is. I hope you're all having a good and enjoyable day.

Hello Crafters Ruth - I wonder if people put babies in sweaters anymore too. Maybe they do when they are taking them out somewhere. I hope that your DGD will be able to use it for her baby. Sue - I'm glad your sprinkler was fixed. I've always though rock gardens were lovely, I'm sure yours looks beautifu. I have a container with the hens and chicks in it. My father put them in there many years ago and they just keep coming back each year. I rarely do anything to them unless we have a bad drought and then I put some water on them. Ginny - I'm glad to hear things are coming along with the wedding plans and getting your yard and house ready. The wedding is this month, right? Is your DD doing well leading up to it? I see some brides doing well with everything and others are a nervous wreck It's very hot and humid here and will be for days. I had hoped to go out yesterday, but I was in a mood where I didn't want to do anything. I did go out this morning and went to JoAnn Fabrics and found the rest of the black fabric I need for the canning jar quilt and also found a goldish-beige for the jar lids. It's not exactly the color I want, but I hope it will work. I can't take any credit for the design of the canning jar quilt I'm going to use. I searched out many pictures and websites before deciding to use the shelf idea. If you ever want to google or search bing for canning jar quilt images you'll see lots of different ones. Hopefully I can start working on this quilt a little bit each day. The most time consuming thing is that I have to sew a 1 1/2 inch piece of black fabric in each corner of the jar unit - so that's 4 per jar and 56 jars - that will make 224 little squares to sew on!!! I'll try to see if I can chain piece them, even though it will be a bit awkward. Hope everyone has a great day!

think tomorrow is the end of the super busy days for me.....
CJ- good to hear that you got your black fabric and the lid color. I would think that a beige color should work out just fine and probably off set the black background also. As much as Joanns is not an end all for fabric, for basics like that they usually do a great job. Several months ago, I needed some fabric for sashing, and found that they had Kona at Joanns, bought that there instead of spending a small fortune at the quilt shop. Yes we are in for some miserable weather. Its July on the east coast and historically this is one of the hottest times of the year. You are right about the wedding, its soon- its in 11 days. Things have been tense here, thanks for asking. This is just a storm I have to ride out- I will miss Dd#2 a lot, but will not miss planning a wedding.
Ruth, yes babies still wear sweaters!(and hats, my grand kids did!). All 3 of my grandkids wore pure white cotton sweaters knit by my mom for their baptism- and I have put sweaters knit by my mom on them for those chilly days. Yes, you need to check out your to do list, and see who needs a gift next. Your area sounds very dry.....must be difficult to keep up with watering a garden. Are your vegetable plants outside now?
Sue, indeed hens and chicks fill in beautifully in rock walls/rock gardens. So does sedum which comes in some pretty colors other than green.
Swept the walkway today, to get the sand into the cracks better. I wanted to use something other than sand, but Dh did not want to spend the money. I will have to sweep and water the walkway several times before the wedding so it looks nice. At least there are no weeds now. Ran a bunch of wedding related errands today. More to do tomorrow, but that is the end of the big errands. After this, most of my running around will be very local. Dd is a nervous wreck, and Dh is not handling this well either. Its hard to keep my head above water at times with all the flippy moods.
going to do some reading - Dh is in bed and Dd is out. Get a little chill time in.....I am looking forward to next week when I get to go to my BOM meeting for next month. A welcome reprieve from all this nonsense. Ginny

Ginny, I feel for you having two nervous Nellies in the house. IN a way it will be great when the wedding is over so you can all relax. It's sad because it's supposed to be a great day and I'm sure it will be once it gets here and everything gets started but until then the anticipation can be nerve wracking.
After I finished the sweater this morning I had things I had to take care of like calling the garbage company to find out when they will be picking up this week since it's a holiday on our regular day and also to find out why they didn't pick it up at all last week. Left a message and no response. Before I called though I found that my home phone ( thru the cable company) was dead so tried to use my cell phone and found that my service had been inactivated. I was on an auto pay plan...tracfone... so someone there messed up and cancelled my auto pay and my service time ran out. After spending an extended period of time with them they finally got it straighted out. Then there was an issue with my credit card on Amazon... I had forgotten to put my new card on the list so I didn't have the rewards I was supposed to have. Now I need to try to call fitbit because my device is still not synching with my phone. Last time it synched was June 17th. Yep I'm whining again. Seems like there was something else too...oh I remember, it was a missed call listed on my home phone that I missed two calls from Soc Security adm. I have no idea why they'd be calling me and they didn't leave a message so of course I'm going crazy wondering about that.
Worked on and made a hat today. I was using my "ugly" yarn but put it with another yarn and the hat turned outnice.I have a whole box, albeit a fairly small one, of "ugly" yarn.

good morning, Ruth don't call that number. most of the SS CALLS ARE SCAMS! SS DOES NOT CALL. THEY WILL SEND A LETTER.
the ss scams have been around for years.
WE have gotten messages about owning the government money, my ss is in trouble.
any doubts call you LOCAL SS OFFICE.. anytime a caller does not leave a message it is a scam or they want to sell you something. even calls with message can be a scam.listen to the message 2-3 times if you have to. you will be able to tell if it is as cam.
don't know the number don't pick up the phone. you can block these numbers. these guys are smart , block their nu
today Delona and I will meet at they y.go for lunch. we are skipping chair yoga. turns out she was at our chiro place last week also. we just missed each other. her si acted up also. mine seems to be settling down for now. we don't want to undo anything he did.
well I better get ready and eat and go phyl

Phyl is right, Social Security will NEVER EVER reach out to you like that- its a major scam. About 2 weeks ago, we got a bunch of phone calls from the scammer, same thing, claiming its SS. Its not. Ignore the call. If you feel compelled, call your local office, but again- its a scam. Ruth, I have had good luck communicating with fitbit- keep trying whether email or phone.....my experience is they will help you get through the problem. Congrats on completing the sweater!!! Phyl, sounds like you have a lovely day planned! Enjoy your lunch with Delona (somehow, I figure that when the two of you get together you laugh way too much! . Its good news that your sciatica is calming down. A good trend which will, Lord willing, continue. Another day of running continues. Gotta go to the bank and the reception hall. Just some details as we approach the day. Weather here is disgusting, its 76 degrees already and the humidity is high- and getting worse. I made sure to get my walk in this am before it got too obnoxious out there. Better get in the shower to start the insanity. Peace Ginny

Thank you PHyl, I never thought of that but I did wonder why they would call instead of sending a letter. I'm glad I asked here and you were here to let me know, I've never had a call from anyone claiming to be Soc Security before. I never answer calls if I don't know the number but I probably would have answered this one since I thought it was them. I've never heard of this particular scam before. I'm sorry to hear that both your's and Delona's sciatica are acting up. I'm glad that yours is clearing up some and hope it's completly gone soon. Yes sitting seems to be the worst especially in chairs that are already uncomfortable. My dh's is too and his hip joints also. He can barely wall and has been groaning while trying to sleep but he's stubborn and won't go to a chiro. If it gets to hurting too bad I guess he'll go somewhere. Guess I'm not one to talk since I didn't go anywhere for my back when I hurt it so bad in Jan.Anyway thanks for the info and have a great time being out with your friend
Ginny, thanks to you too for the info. I don't know why I've never heard of this. On my computer yesterday I got one of those messages that tell you to call microsoft immediately because your computer has been locked.(and provide the number so you will be sure and call them and not the real microsoft) I've received a bunch of those over the years and knew enough to just ignore and get rid of but it takes work. Ginny, this will all be over in 11 days..maybe 10 now. You can enjoy that day and relax afterward. I hope your dh's anxiety about all the prep is not making your dd feel bad. And sorry the weather is making it even worse with all the humidity.
It's been very overcast and nasty looking so far but now the sun is coming out. I have to take my truck to Honda at some point todayfor the work to be done Friday. Dh charged it yesterday which is probably what aggravated his hips and back so hopefully it will start so that I can get it there.I'll take some crocheting to work on while waiting for a shuttle ride back home. ON their site it says they have latte in their waiting area. Interesting. I'll have to check that out. It's kinda nice how these car dealers have made such nice waiting areas and provide rides home and back there to pick up your vehicle. If it didn';t take so long I'd just wait there like I did at the other dealer for my new car when I had the recall work done. That dealer though will provide a car for you to use while your car is being worked on.
CJ I hope you're having a good day too and glad to hear you were able to find the fabric you wanted and needed. I did look up pictures and the one with shelves to me is the nicest. And yes, that is certainly a LOT of little squares to sew on. I hope you can find an easy method. In the one and only series of quilt classes I attended they showed up ways of doing a lot of things that normally you (well not you personally) would do one square at a time and I've also seen some quilt shows on tv where they showed better and easier ways. Of course I don't remember them now.
Sue did you get rain in the night. It looks like we did

afternoon, Ruth another thing these scamer's will do is change their number at times at times. also they like to use a local area code number to make you think it is your friend or some one you know calling. if a id number does not show up on your tv screen or a real friend is not leaving a message then you know the call is not real.
we started the day out good.I kept telling Delona let me know when you need to go home. we don't need to bum.
after we did the treadmill and sat I could tell she was hurting. then the hot flashes started . tried to get her to go home. we went to lunch. at culver's ,tried again to get her to go home.Delona said we need to spend sometime together. by the time we were done with target and kohl's she was ready to go home.
stress is adding to this.she has been looking after mom since dad died. (WILL BE 2 YEARS) also dh has a big balance problem.she feels burn out. she is an only child. WISH I COULD SEND HER SOMEPLACE. WOULD LOVE TO TAKE MOM TO THE STORE FOR HER.
MOM PROBABLY WOULD NOT LET ME.
SUCH IS LIFE. PHYL

I did do that yesterday. I decided that if they wanted to talk to me they would have left a message so I didn't call back. If I had seen the "Social Security" name show up while it was ringing I may have answered it without thinking. People really don't call me because they know I can't hear well enough on the phone so if I see any calls I usually ignore....this one I may not have.I definitely don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number or name that shows up. CAn't be too careful these days so I learned a lesson from yesterday's experience
It sounds like Delona needed to get out with you today. She has a lot on her hands. Does her dh got to PT for his balance? Do they know what the balance problem is caused by?
Sure getting dark here. It may rain yet.
I'm working on a tote bag I was planning to send as a purse for dgd who will turn 8 but following directions by using two strands of yarn together it's turning out too thick and large even though I cut the chain down by 10 so I'm going to save and finish that for one of her older sisters and make her one using only one strand, a smaller hook and a different yarn entirely. I will line it too and put in at least one pocket. She loves purses and bags.
I finally remember that in making a list of all I needed to do before Christmas I forgot one of the dgds! Don't know how I could do that. I don't know what to make her either. I made her a nice purse last year. She likes giraffes so I made her a really nice ragdoll giraffe to sit on her bed. I may make her somc crochet jewelry but I don't know what else to make...maybe a spa set for her too. I already made one for her oldest sister.
Didn't take any time at the car dealer. I explained everything and then the shuttle driver was right there so I didn't even get to check out the waiting area. It was good to get back home fast since dh could barely walk and needed my help. Now he's feeling better..for now anyway
