Good Morning Chicks,
BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDA!!
Linda - very nice picture of you and the grand niece! I'm glad you enjoyed the birthday celebration and song! Nice that the tree is now gone and one less thing to deal with. Sounds like Micki managed to get through the fireworks pretty well. It's terribly humid and soupy today outside, I felt almost like I could chew the air when I took the pups out about an hour ago. It was a milk container that gave way Linda, thank heavens not an actual mechanical part in the fridge. I had white liquid down 4 shelves!
Chele - your lunch yesterday sounded yummy! I am working on the elevating and walking. It's easier to walk than elevate with any degree of effectiveness unless I go into the bedroom and elevate on the bed. The pain continues in the hip and knee; was bad yesterday but did my best to deal. Are you doing the farmer's this morning?
Kathy - very nice to be able to see the pics from DN's trip. My SM has been there but that was many years ago. What's new with the bear patrol? Any sightings lately? What are you up to this weekend?
Becky - I'm so sorry to hear that the knee is hurting you like that and definitely empathize immensely! That is very good news about the reduction of the penalty for healthcare. i'm going to see if I can get a cortisone shot in the hip to buy some time. I know I need to have the surgery but the timing just stinks. Happy you enjoyed the salad at lunch. I've been wanting to trade in my FB Flex (yep still have one) and was just going to get an Alta HR. I'm looking for basics and nothing that I have to spend too much time with. Like Karen, I like changing bands.
Karen - how did all the Arya cooking go for you? I'm happy Dale will be able to help with the Adirondack chair and stool. How are the "feets" doing? What's new with the shoe situation? Isn't it crazy that people who volunteer will be so intrusive that they cause others to leave? We were talking about just the general lack of civility out there now and how people will literally walk right into you, over you and just not even think about it. People run people over and leave; sometimes Grand Central looks like a small city of drones attached to their phones. Gary will take my car to the shop this morning, there seems to be a slow leak in the right rear tire that's recurring. I will once again attempt to elevate and walk.
Going to go make some coffee and try to read for a bit while elevating. Have a good day ladies; ciao for now~

Thanks for the start, Liz. Are you getting any precipitation with that soup? YIKES! on the milk. Was it a paper carton or plastic jug? I remember when I was a kid when someone spilled a glass of milk, it seemed to go everywhere. Good to hear that "walk, elevate, repeat" is working for you this weekend. I wondered if you had replaced your Flex yet. Mine died years ago. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Fitbit no longer makes the Alta or Alta HR. It has been replaced by the Inspire and, as Becky said yesterday or the day before, the reviews on it aren't that great. You might want to look on Ebay for a new in box Alta or Alta HR and could probably catch a deal. Amazon might even have a few still available. If that's what you end up with, I will gift you with a bunch of replacement bands, some I haven't even worn. I also have a few really nice non-silicone ones--a red leather, a black and white paracord, and a colorful metallic one. "Feets" are improving. I need to start putting my special herbal salve on the scars because the scars are starting to hurt a bit with wearing closed toed shoes more often. I can bend all my toes except the pinkie toe on the right foot and balance is coming along nicely. Sorry about the tire. I hope they can find and seal the leak. Mine seems to be doing well so far, so I hope you will be fortunate with that as well.
Becky, I had an idea on how the Vivosmart 4 might work for me. I wouldn't need to wear it if I am swimming, kayaking, or am wearing my other Garmin (735XT). When I'm gardening or doing something that I might get the band dirty, I may be able to cover it with a wrist warmer like was popular back in the 80's thanks to Olivia Newton-John and Richard Simmons. That would actually allow me to get a lighter colored band. The Versa or another model with a watch face wouldn't work as well for me. I like the band style. The 735XT is a watch style and counts steps but doesn't do sleep tracking. I did see some of the flyovers from Thursday and really loved the stealth. I hope Space Force becomes a reality. Nice that you're getting a raise from Medicare, but the penalty stinks. DB/DSIL ended up in the same boat when he went on disability and she was still on medical leave from shoulder surgery. She ended up having to quit her job to avoid the penalty. Since they have now moved anyway, it was just a minor inconvenience.
I thought you were going to Flemings for your birthday dinner, Linda. But I know you like Cheesecake Factory, too. What did you have that Micki was so fond of in his doggy bag? The fern should do nicely on the stump. When will the tree come down?
Chele, I know you have a busy day ahead of you. Enjoy the baby shower and the Dragons game. Did you visit the farmers this morning?
Are you ready to go to Japan, Kathy? I know DN enjoyed his trip. Our a.m. news on the weekends shows live cams from places across the world and this morning they showed Ft. Myers. I hope your weather is as nice today as theirs looked. With the heat and humidity, what are you doing for exercise right now?
I'm happy to say that I'm down 0.6 lbs in the past 2 weeks. Not a huge loss but I'll take it. As we are all fond of saying, "a loss is a loss". Dale ran 3 hours in the neighborhood. The other neighbors had fireworks last night and they are a couple of coves over, so there were some booms that spooked my little girl, but it wasn't as bad as the night before. We still didn't get to bed until almost 10, but were able to get Arya settled down pretty quickly. I cooked her beef this morning and have 3 weeks worth in the freezer. I watered the garden beds and the berries so, of course, we got a shower about half an hour ago. Maybe I won't have to water tomorrow. We're watching last nght's Giants game and as soon as I post this, I will start working on a presentation on growing shiitake mushrooms that I'll be giving at the September master gardener meeting. I did get the newsletter done and out yesterday, so that's done for another month.

Cheesecake factory because Bob insisted I should not cook on my birthday. I like the Romano crusted chicken with spaghetti and usually take most of the pasta home and often half the chicken.Micki gets pasta. Flemings has a nice special on Sundays this month with sliced filet on mashed potatoes and a salad for $45. Also I have a 40$ bonus from the last three special occasions over the year. Their small steak is $40 alone usually. It will be week before New Year's eve before they see us again.
Milk...what a mess. Tree is still there...that was the tree doc and estimate..,it will be 2-3 weeks before we we into the schedule. They are good and have lots of work. just hope it us hone before a big monsoon storm which is late this year.
People who volunteer often have extra time on their hands to become a pain and often used to be in control at their old jobs and miss that feeling or just are used to being bossy. Some people are just pimples on the ass of progress wherever they are. I usually had at least one in every high school class, often a mean girl.

Thanks for the start, Liz. With all the steps you get in I am not surprised that your joints ache continually. How is the wound? It is hot and humid here. We call it āair you can wear.ā Please continue to take care of yourself.
Karen, busy as usual, I see. I bet you are all glad the fireworks are over.
Becky, I think the Brits took a page out of Trumpās book. They had a flyover Wimbledon. The planes were not as impressive as those that flew over DC. I am sorry to hear the shot has not helped your right knee. Good news on the reduction in Medicare penalty.
Kathy, I wouldnāt be walking in your summers either.
Linda, I was LMAO at the pimples remark because it is so true. I think Bob was absolutely right about not cooking on your birthday. Enjoy Flemingās tomorrow.
Iggy has not been feeling well the past few days due to GI issues, so we are skipping the festivities and the ball game. I didnāt really want to go without him. We skipped the farmerās market, too. It has been another quiet day but I think he needs it.

Liz, thanks for the start. Soupy is a good way to describe this weather. Right now, the skies are angry and we just had a big downpour. It's amazing how much of a mess something like milk can make. I had a similar thing happen to an orange juice carton and it took forever to clean up. Another bear was killed on the interstate just recently and there have been quite a few sightings in the local area. I'm not sure what the answer is with too many bears and too many people. Glad you're getting in some elevating and walking and hope it helps with the healing.
Karen, even when it looks nice out, it doesn't feel nice with the heat and humidity. I've been using my treadmill and DVDs for exercise. I have a pretty large collection of exercise DVDs, some of which I haven't even done yet, so I haven't gotten bored with them yet. Congrats on the loss! Any loss is a good one when you're trying to lose. That's always the way with watering and rain. One of my watering days is Sunday and for some reason, that seems to be the day we get the most rain. I don't think Japan is high on my list of places to visit, but I'm glad DN had such a great trip.
Linda, nice not to have to cook on your birthday. I think you're right about people bringing in whatever attitudes they had at the workplace and some people are just always a pain. I don't miss that part of working at all! Enjoy the meal at Flemings tomorrow.
Chele, hope Iggy is feeling better soon. He's been really busy, so he probably does need a few quiet days.
Becky, the Blue Angels are really impressive. I'm sorry to hear that the shot hasn't helped your knee that much, especially after all you went through to get it. That's good that the Medicare penalty has ended. They sure do make things complicated. Have you been getting the emails from WW? They have the same 3 month deal we did before.

Linda, the volunteers who seem to be causing the biggest problems right now are not only retired but are very tight with a dollar. They think the greenhouse is an unnecessary expense and are upset because we can't give them a cost to the penny because we are building it ourselves. Of course, none of them is helping any and the 3 main complainers haven't been to a meeting in 2 and 4 months. Pimples on the ass of progress describes them perfectly.
Hope Iggy is feeling better, Chele. Will you go to a farmers market during the week because you missed it today.
Kathy, you definitely are not having the same weather as Ft. Myers but I would guess it's humid there as well. It would be nice to get rain on a day other than your designated watering day. Sorry to hear about the bear but not a huge surprise. They need to capture and relocate them, maybe somewhere in Georgia. Are you going to buy into the WW deal this time? Good that you've accumulated a large quantity of DVDs to keep you interested. I forgot you had a treadmill.
My right hip has been giving me fits this afternoon, so I'm back on the TENS unit. Don't know if I pulled something, got kicked in the middle of the night by furry little legs, or something else. It resolved rather quickly when it happened earlier in the week, so I hope it will do the same this time. Not much other than working on the presentation and doing a load of workout clothes tomorrow.

Thanks for the start Liz.Yuck on milk on 4 shelves.I guess it could have been worse. The knee is feeling a little better today. For my walk I drove up to the road gate and didn't walk as long.It made my session on the bike a little less painful too.
Karen The vivosmart 4 Amazon kept showing was the one with the light blue band.Although I like blue I don't like light blue so I like this darker color and I like that it isn't black. My vivofits were both black and I didn't care for them. The Medicare penalty has been rough all these years but now that it's going away it will be lots better.Good for you on your weight loss. Two weeks I was up 0.4 and last week I was down the same 0.4 so I will call that a maintain.Kenneth said he will be happy when our neighbors up the road run out of fireworks. It's a younger couple who have only lived here a couple of years. It doesn't bother Scooter that much but when Kenneth goes out after dark he hears it.
Linda Is that $40 for one steak?I hope it's a good one.
Chele I'm sorry Iggy hasn't felt well.I hope y'all can do something tomorrow.
Kathy I am still on my free month of WW until the end of the month although I did cancel yesterday.I'm sure I will start getting them again next month though.

Linda, hurray, the women won the World Cup. Letās hope they win the same amount of money and respect the men get. We go to Flemings for one of our birthdays. They have good shrimp as well as steak. Enjoy!
Iggy is still not feeling well. I am encouraging him to call the doctor tomorrow. Meanwhile he is still taking it easy today.
Waving to all.

Linda, how many ounces is that $40 steak that comes with no sides? You'd have to get a lot of meals out of it to pay full price and then have to add sides if you wanted them. How much do they charge for sides? I don't blame you for it being a rare occasion to go there. The women's team pulled off the victory. Exciting! Did you hear the exchange between Megan Rapinhoe and President Trump? Don't think they will be invited to the White House and I don't think they want to be.
You are definitely maintaining, Becky. Congratulations. I also noticed your tag line. Good that the fireworks don't bother Scooter. We had distant fireworks again last night and they got Arya's attention but she didn't react to them. Hopefully everyone ran out by now and we won't have any tonight. I don't know what color Vivosmart 4 I will end up with but, like you, it definitely will not be black. I think the reason I'm drawn to the blue one is because it has silver hardware and I wear mostly silver jewelry. The gray has rose gold and I like the look but have almost no rose gold jewelry. Amazon seems to have a lot of extra stuff with the Vivosmart 4s they have right now and I don't need any extra stuff. I just want the tracker by itself.
Chele, sorry Iggy is still feeling poorly. I hope he will take your advice and call the doctor tomorrow. This has been going on long enough. I agree on the women's players getting parity with the men. Women who play professional basketball get paid much less than the men, even if you equalize for the women playing a shorter season. They do much better overseas, which is why so many of them play there as well.
And, how are you feeling, Liz? Hope the walk and elevate has improved things.
Kathy, has your rain moved out? I hope the humidity has decreased a bit. Any plans for the upcoming week?
Dale did a run in the mountains and I made a loaf of bread, did a load of workout clothes, and got plants for the fair transplanted into their new homes. I just have to keep them well watered and happy. They are in self-watering planters, so I hope that will keep them from dying during the 2 weeks they will not be under my control. They seem to get over watered or under watered while on display and don't look too good when I bring them home. Hopefully getting them in their display planters 6 weeks will help, too.

That is an 8 ounce prime filet...We can only eat half. Bob loves the shrimp cocktail.
After to tonight, i need to really keep track and cut back...all time high of 12 pounds extra since 2012 when I lost 30.. rats. I needed to dump 15 more then. It has become much harder since I turned 70. Being stuck inside with heat doesn't help..
.going to go late to museum Wed and try pool aerobics class 8:15 and hope it has nothing to do with the seven weeks if itchy skin and dermagraphical hives. Almost at three days between Zyrtec. SoI think it is my system after the antibiotics not something external. Brother's pool is salt with some chlorine and Mu legs dangling in were ok.
Hard time getting down to sit on the side and back up . I have got to get myself into the PT exercises again. I let so much go when I was sick.

Linda I DVR'd the game since it started at 10:00 Central and our church service starts at 11:00.That game had a fantastic 2nd half.I'm not a soccer fan but have watched the last 2 women's games.WTG Team USA on back to back world cup titles.
Chele I'm sorry Iggy still isn't feeling well.I hope he will take your advice about the doctor if he still doesn't feel well tomorrow.
Karen Thanks.Maintaining is definitely harder than losing but it's better than gaining too.I really like this wine color band with the gold dial.I don't wear any other jewelry so I don't have to match. Both of my vivofits were black and I didn't care for black especially in the summer.I didn't buy anything besides the tracker and it came with the charger so that's all I needed.I really like the Connect app.I also like how the vivosmart 4 gives me laps when I am walking or riding the recumbent bike.I figured out 20 minutes will show up as a lap.
Linda If I had only gained 12 lbs since 2012 I would be happy.I gain so easily if I don't watch it.Being stuck in the house because of the heat doesn't help I agree.I walk around 8:00 before it gets too hot here but it was already 80 and humid at 8 AM this morning.I do enjoy the recumbent bike more now that it is hot and humid in the afternoon. It is harder to lose as you age.I was in my late 50's when I started WW the last time.I love the picture.
Kathy Are you doing My Fitness Pal or Itrackbites?I am doing carb conscious(the ole points plus program)with calories being my secondary metric. It seems to help.I cancelled my free month yesterday even though it's effective until the end of the month.

Becky, that is plus 12 after years of fighting it back down...constant battle..trying to lose more and only maintaining or adding. if I had not, I do not even want to think of those constant additions for 7 year!
There were five women at brother's pool. one tiny thin 30 year old exercisesholic, me and three in the pool younger than me who made me look thin. I do nit want to be them. Pool at Y Wed AM , if I get it together, I will fit right in with half of the class of older women.
