Happy you got to enjoy a fireside chat and great meal, Sue. Love hearing about the puppies:) Your meal sounds delish. We are having pork loin chops coleslaw and rice.
My chores (just laundry and ran the vac) are complete. Now it's time to kick back.
Carl mowed the lawn and he's now at our neighbors helping him with a project.
After he showers, we may go out...or not! I'll leave that decision up to him.
It's beautiful here as well.

Ann ~ Yay for you getting your (chosen) chores all done. I did the same, plus I read a whole book (short one). I was listening to Sirium XM Oldies Party on Alexa while I read and it was perfect! When DH got home we went for a walk before supper. We had corn-on-the-cob with our turkey burgers and it was perfect. DH brought home some fresh peaches from a local fruit stand and has sliced some up to put over vanilla ice cream later this evening. Perfect summer supper!! Glad you also have beautiful weather!!

Sue your day sounded heaven sent Our weather got pretty nasty. First we had darkness, then heavy rain followed by hail...then the sun came out and stayed out for about a half hour and it started right back up again. This time, the lights flickered and luckily we didn't lose power. It was just enough to knock out the alarm clocks which I reset. Now it's back to 'normal' LOL. Hopefully this will last Oh I love fresh peaches. We picked some up earlier in the week at a farm stand here in town. Will stop again tomorrow to see if they have any. Sleep well, all.

Good morning all. I slept really well and for that I'm most grateful. Today I will take a walk with Donna and she wants some help with her new phone. If I can't do it, I'm sure Carl will be able to. We'll visit with them for a bit then run errands. I'm praying that we don't have another strange 'weather day'.
Wishing all a wonderful peaceful and fun filled OP Sunday. Will CBL

Hi all,
It was fun to read all your updates. Sue, I’m envious of that puppy time but grateful I have lifelong lap pups with our Cavaliers. In fact, Doug is sitting with me now! 😀🐶. The fire chats and your dinner 🥘 sounded great. Healthy, too.
Ann, we had a glorious day yesterday here at the Cape. I saw that your area was hit with storms. For a smallish state, we sure have a lot of varied weather!
We had had a relaxing day here. Got the house ready for the next group of visitors next weekend. We’ll be back Thursday night and here Friday with our son, family and their friends. I’ll have to get my act together and pack for two weeks this week since I’ll fly out on Sunday the 11th leaving from here. I am determined to pack super lightly since I’ll have the washer and dryer available and I want to keep it simple. It’s a challenging job for me!
Yesterday I had a great visit on my neighbor’s deck overlooking the bay. We caught up on all the summer activities and each told our own stories. We go back to childhood together and our moms were good friends. That is why this area means so much to me and DH loves it too. Soooo many memories of m6 grandparents, parents, cousins and family plus everyone who has ever meant a lot to has been here visiting.
I hope you all all have a great day.

Happy Sunday All!
We headed to the MS Gulf Coast Friday, mid-morning. I was supposed to take Abby to the splash pad, but the weather was not good, so we headed to the thrift store and picked up a movie--Homeward Bound, The Incredible Journey. After our delicious supper, we watched it together. I remember watching it with my girls when they were little.
Saturday morning after breakfast Abby and I headed to the splash pad. She only got to play about 10 minutes before a big thundercloud arrived and we had to leave due to thunder and lightning, even though it wasn't raining. She enjoyed the 10 minutes to the fullest and was good about leaving when I told her it wasn't safe and that it would give us more time at the museum. We went home and ate a quick lunch and then headed to Gulfport to the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, a fun kids' hands-on museum. It's about an hours drive from the camp but we drove the beach road so it was entertaining and pretty. Abby had a blast and we ended up staying until the museum closed at 5:00pm. She especially liked being a veterinarian and treating several stuffed dogs and cats, worked hard at Winn Dixie as a florist, checkout lady and a shopper, starred in her own talk show and then was the weather woman, played with various things in the science room and the space travel center and climbed all the tree houses outdoors. We walked out to the Gulf view point and she ran around the grounds like a track star. Well worth every penny of the admission fee!
On the way home, we stopped at The Ugly Pirate for DH to drop off some brochures for the Cultural District's upcoming Easy Rider 50th Anniversary event and we had beers while Abby enjoyed popcorn and root beer. Then we ate out at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Avocados. Abby loves tacos, but this time opted for a cheeseburger. I had my favorite chicken, shrimp and avocado paella, but only ate 1/3 and saved the rest for lunches later. We ended the evening with popcorn, jigsaw puzzles and story books. We were all pooped!
After Mass this morning, we had breakfast and then headed home. We dropped Abby at home with her dad & brother and have been in our chairs since we finished unpacking.
Now, to the less pleasant events of the weekend: DSIL called DD1 (She, DD2 & Anna were in Shreveport watching Oympic-level women's volleyball)Friday evening to say he was having severe chest pain and difficulty breathing and was wondering what he should do. Men!!! Of course she insisted he go to the nearest ER and called my DSIS (an RN)to go meet him. After several hours and tests he was told it was a kidney stone and sent home with pain Rx and told to see his family doctor on Monday, if the stone didn't pass. Unfortunately, they didn't wait for MRI results before discharging him. He has a pleural effusion (fluid in the chest cavity, not a kidney stone. I looked up the various causes of pleural effusion and am now concerned. Cancer, infection, heart problems, blood clots, liver failure and autoimmune problems are some of the causes. Treatment is usually to drain the fluid from the chest cavity under anesthesia and test the fluid to try and find the cause. Recovery is a couple of weeks in the best of cases. DSIL owns his own land leveling business and works 7/7 days per week unless it rains, so this will be a blow. Add to all this, parents' meet the teacher nights, school pictures and first day of school for the older kids this week. We will be keeping Abby once the older kids start school and have assured DD we will do whatever is necessary to support them until this is all straightened out.
Secondly, the 32 year old son of a former friend and co-worker died and will be buried tomorrow. I know he had drug problems in the past, but had settled down, married and has 2 small children. I don't know what happened but my heart aches for my friend. She and I had offices next to each other and we often confided in each about our children and aging parents. Her husband and I went to the same high school, but he was a year or so behind me. Depending on what happens with DSIL, I will try to attend visiting hours and funeral tomorrow.
Ann - I am finding Escape to be fascinating. I saw some women and children who wore the long dresses and undergarments (you can often see the long pants peep out from under the skirts as they walk) when we were in Salt Lake City visiting my cousins a year or so ago. My cousin's husband complains that all the laws, holidays, etc. are based on the LDS religion. For a long time, you could not get a glass of wine at a restaurant.I am so glad you found a vet's office where you feel comfortable, especially at such a hard time.
Judy - I read Educated a while back and that's probably why this book (Escape) caught my eye. It seems so crazy in this day and age that women put up with such treatment. You are staying quite busy this summer! You must get lots of vacation days. I earned so much time when I worked with the state, I got 2 year's retirement credit with what I couldn't use. I agree about packing lightly. I am still a work in progress. I managed a week at DD3's with a small carry on and a tote bag and still felt like I over-packed because one outfit never got worn. I do leave some toiletries at her house to save space. I also bought a flat iron to leave there and just use DD's hair dryer.
Sue - Your weekend sounds perfect! Is there anything cuter than a small puppy? Animals are so affectionate and appreciative of attention. It sounds like staffing levels at your job are either feast or famine. I'm sure it was nice to have some unexpected time off.
Going to read a little more of my book. DH bought some fresh tuna for our dinner. Not sure yet what will go with it.

OMG Pam keeping DSIL and the parents of your former coworkers in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure she will understandvif you can't make the service.
I read a few other books on the idea of Escape. Unfortunately none come to mind. It really was an eye opener.
Still hot here. Will wait till the sun sets before we go for our last walk.
