Good Morning, WW Friends ~ Happy Tuesday!! We have mild temps so far today because it is overcast and we've had off and on showers. I have been on the computer since DH left, paying bills and updating some accounts, etc. The time can really get away from me as well!
Judy ~ You are so smart in packing for your trip. I also tend to over-pack (because I think I won't know what I want to wear) but the truth is I would wear what I have, right?? I am so sorry to hear that your DH is struggling. I fully relate to the woes of a man "of a certain age" who has overused his body all his life and now wonders why it isn't working "like it used to". I have one of those as well. I have to hide my laughter when he says things like "it didn't used to feel like this". This aging process is not for the faint of heart.
Ann ~ I have to agree with you that The Olive Garden is not a favorite. I have gone there mostly with my niece who loves the soup and salad and breadsticks lunch. Otherwise it never makes my short list. Their ads look fantastic, but we have some family-owned Italian eateries that we prefer.
Pam ~ You really do have a full schedule! It reminded me of when my DH was in the hospital a couple of months ago, and having to run home to quickly shower and grab phone chargers and meds, etc. Just the luxury of washing my face after having on the same make up for over 24 hours! I am so glad that your DD has enough support to help her through this with kids - and especially at this busy time with school starting as well. Your family remains in my thoughts and prayers!! BTW, we went to A Matter Of Taste on Union Lake for lunch yesterday .....
We had a fun lunch outdoors yesterday sitting on a deck overlooking one of the local lakes and the weather was just perfect for it! We sat in the shade instead of the hot sun and the breeze was perfect!! We all four enjoyed our lunches. One went for a haircut and two went Thrift Store shopping, but I opted to come home and I was glad because DH was home so I got to spend some quiet time with him.
We had leftover pork loin with sweet potato and limas and NSA applesauce for supper and enjoyed it very much!! I think I will pick up a rotisserie chicken today when I shop at Meijer and have it for supper with whatever sides I come up with.
I have today and tomorrow free, so will Meijer shop today and then Costco shop tomorrow (when the new sale starts). They will be featuring Premier Protein (a new flavor called Cookies & Cream) so I will pick up a case of that. I have quite a supply downstairs, but it is my GO TO lunch four days a week once school starts, so I don't mind having an abundance in supply. Also, that way I can only buy it when it is on sale.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Judy ~ I couldn't agree more about the importance of socializing young puppies. We started holding them from the day they were born (the mom said "yes, please") and once their eyes opened they really started developing personalities. DH's VBF pays a lot of attention to his dogs (more than some people pay to their kids methinks) and so when there is a litter of puppies, they get included. The older dogs follow that example as well and are very good to play with the puppies and teach them. They are virtually housebroken by the time he sends them off to their forever homes, as well as very cuddly and lovable and playful.

Sue, that socialization is so key to happy puppies and happy doggies. I think one of the reasons why our Cavaliers are so friendly has to do with the breeder who held them and played with them from day one. They are known to be extra affectionate, but our two are sort of over the top affectionate. LOL They even give their own version of a hug when asked to do so. They rub their little heads all over your neck and shoulders since they don't have arms. Ha ha. Your VBF's dogs must be in demand with such a good start.
I wish I were smarter at packing. I lay out all the stuff I think I might need and try to pack only about half of it. Do I really need 5 pairs of shoes? NO! Sneakers, sandals and one semi-nice pair is fine. One dress just in case and some shorts and tops and of course the necessities and "condiments" as our friend Carolyn from this board used to call them - such as meds, ibuprofen, personal care and makeup, etc. I am even going bare minimum with makeup and have a tiny bag of stuff. It will be a lot easier overall. And, Los Altos, CA is not the moon after all so stuff is there, too. Has it really been a couple months since your DH was hospitalized, Sue? Yikes, time flies. Your meals sound great I love those rotisserie chickens. We have the Blue Apron meals coming today. I don't have to think but just read the directions and all are WW choices. That helps.

Hi all!
We had a busy morning. Abby and I were out of the house before 8:00 to head to my hospice meeting. She was very good and played quietly with my iPad until we were finished. DH took the other two to get their school pics and orientation and we all convened back at their house by about 9:45.
DSIL is doing better, but still having problems breathing. They started him on an incentive spirometer to encourage deep breathing and changed some of his meds. He will possibly be discharged tomorrow. He is still running fever periodically, which the doctor attributes to the blood clots breaking up. They finally called his mom last night to tell her what is going on. She will arrive by 7:00pm tonight, which DD understands, but sighs over because it is one more person to coordinate/look after.
The kids and I got bedsheets washing and cleaned the house in preparation for their Mimi, who is a much better housekeeper than either DD1 or I. Then, I brought Abby home with me, while a hard-working Anna is enjoying some tv. Jude was down the street with a friend, but I left him a list of chores to have done by 5:00 pm. DH and I will prepare a boneless stuffed chicken, dirty rice, corn, beans and salad for dinner and then head back to DD's house. I will spend the night, get the older kids off to school and bring Abby back here. Either tomorrow or Thursday, I need to get in some hospice desk work and a patient visit.
I was so busy yesterday, I didn't get much food in. MFP chastised me for not eating enough calories and refused to produce a daily report until I eat more. What a difference for me, lol! I am taking more care today, though.
Too pooped for personals. I'm just gonna chill in my chair for a while with a big glass of flavored water.
Meanwhile, I rebooted my laundry, cleaned the kitchen and straightened up a few things around here.

Really tired so no energy for personals. Pam I shalk follow your lead and relax.
I also agree about socializing puppies. Makes for a happier companion.
Yes I agree OG has never been a favorite of mine. I'm happy the gift card is gone. I told Carl if we are ever gifted another one I shall pass it on.

Happy Hump Day, WW Friends ~
We have a hot day on tap so I have the house closed up and A/C turned on. Our high yesterday happened later yesterday evening, so we had to turn on the A/C at bedtime, which is most unusual.
I have been to Costco this morning and stocked up on just a few things, mostly because I needed coffee. I got back home in time to have a Premier Protein shake for lunch. It is time to get back to my usual routine. I found that I came home from vacation with a couple of extra pounds, and that is unacceptable.
I received an email from our Payroll Department yesterday about a security update to our Employee Online accounts and found out my partner at work is without a computer right now, so I printed it for her and am off to school to turn in my time sheet and also to give her this information.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hot as heck out there in my neck of the woods also, Sue. We are in for 'weather' but so far it hasn't hit...yet.... I'm just happy that our errands are all done and over with. Perfect day to stay put and read or play with Alexa and music When we went to BJ's yesterday, we also stocked up on coffee LOL. GMTA I found a few #'s and also need to reel myself in. Summer is the hardest season for me for some odd reason. Too much FOOD around...seems like whenever we go for a walk with LuLa, someone invites us in for coffee...and y'all know how that goes LOL. That is nice of you to print out the form for your friend. Well, I'm going to unplug after doing a few more things online and just sit and relax.
Waving to Judy and Pam...catch ya tomorrow!
Hope y'all keep cool.

Hi All
We are gearing up to leave tomorrow. I packed MOST of my stuff last night and have a list going so I don't forget the necessities. We'll head to the Cape tomorrow night so that we can be there with DS, DDIL and DB (dear baby!) for a couple days.
Pam, your schedule sounds exhausting. Wow, your DD is SO lucky to have you nearby to pitch in with the kiddos. You take a huge burden off her shoulders and you are such a generous and good grandma! I hope you get some rest too. I have had episodes very, very far and very in between where I forgot to eat. LOL Just doesn't happen and I am apt to eat the wrong stuff when under pressure. I'm so glad your DSIL is doing better and did they figure out what caused the blood clots? Poor guy.
Ann and Sue, you two know how to tackle and extra lb or so very well! I am sure you will be downward bound fast.
I have a hair appointment after work and it is looking like a thunderstorm now. The heat is back. Supposed to be a good weekend, though.
I will check in tomorrow! Have a good night all!

Good news! DSIL came home from the hospital today and is feeling and breathing much better. The doctors surmise the clots were caused by too much sitting in commuting to work and driving tractors/dirt-moving equipment, but DD and DSIL aren't buying it. His uncle, a well-respected physician with 2 specialties surmises it is a genetic C-Reactive Protein which predisposes one to blood clots. Whatever the cause, I am glad they are dissolving and hope they never come back.
I got the older kids off for their first day of school and also managed to take the pic their mom requested. Abby and I chilled for a while and then came to our house. We played games and she watched several episodes of her current favorite program--Kung Fu Panda. DH took her with him grocery shopping to kill a little more time so DD1 & DSIL could get home, showered and rested. About the time the older kids got home from school, I brought her home and then went to choir practice while DH prepared a supper of stuffed crabs, smother okra and "good" potatoes (potatoes cooked in a little butter, water and onion soup mix. We enjoyed watching "Harvey" with James Stewart on TCM. It is a favorite for both of us.
I caught up on my Words with Friends, FB and got all my meals for today tracked. After two days of being under on calories, hunger hit with a vengeance today. I tried to stick with healthy snacks, like hummus, applesauce and almonds. I was 600 calories over, but am not stressing about it.
Tomorrow, I really need to get into the hospice office and catch up some paperwork. I have hardly been there to cover for my vacationing boss, but it couldn't be helped. In the afternoon, we will take Abby into BTR for a movie. I also need to start planning what I will pack for our vacation to Colorado & Nebraska. We leave on the 15th.
Ann & Judy - I hope you fared well weather-wise. Sounds like things got tricky up your way today. Maybe things will cool off a bit for you, Ann.
Judy - Safe travels!
Sue - It was nice of you to help out your friend with the printout. Socializing puppies sounds like the best job ever!

Pam so very happy to hear that all is well and under control with DSIL. I shall continue to keep him in my prayers.
Wow not having children I am out of the loop as far as going back to school is concerned. Seems like it gets earlier and earlier lol. Nice you got to connect with FB and not stressing over extra calories.
I took a long nap after supper, went to bed at 11 pm and woke up at 4 am. Guess this is going to be a long day for me.
I had breast pain all day Wednesday. I'm thinking it was humidity related. Weather here has been way too hot and humid for my liking.
Hope an OP day is enjoyed by all.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~ Happy Thursday!! We are predicted to have better weather in the near future. It is cool this morning (at only 70) but that dratted humidity is still with us (at 75%). They are saying it will let up later today. Yay!! Pam ~ Such great news that DSIL is home and is feeling better! I agree that it seems unlikely the blood clots "just happened" because he was sitting too much. The other option sounds more plausible. Hope he continues to improve! Is he going to remain on the blood thinners? Take care of yourself!! Judy ~ Safe travels to you! I am sure your packing will go well for you. You're right <LOL> that you are not going to the moon. My DH's mantra on every trip we left on was to remind me "if you forgot it, they sell it there". He was always right! But I was a born worrier - better now. Yes, it has been over two months since DH was in the hospital. I brought him home the day before Memorial Day. Ann ~ So sorry to hear that you are experiencing breast pain. Does the humidity do that? I do hope you are feeling better today. I am so with you in being out of the loop with youngsters. Last evening DH asked me what the favorite cereal was for little ones, and I honestly don't know. Ah, well ...... Today will be a fun day for me. I got up early because DH said he wanted to leave early and we had breakfast together before he left and I packed his lunch & hydration. I have done up the morning chores around here plus some; and pruned all the patio flower pots. I cut them way back before we went away two weeks ago and they are loaded with new buds now! I still want to prune the daisies out front that are all done blooming. I cleaned off the porch table and chairs as we plan to eat outdoors tonight. I am meeting my work partner for Mexican lunch after my trip to Hobby Lobby this morning. Then I have to do my pedicure and then go for a late afternoon nail appointment. DH will pick up pizza and chop a salad before I get home, and we will enjoy the (hopefully) cool evening air together while we eat. I am glad I will be gone much of today as the concrete crew is back (after a week) and working on our roads again. I will have to hope I can get out of here and back in and out again later on (we live in the very back of the complex). They make me feel very crabby! They are so inconsiderate and I am tired of only having the use of half of our driveway. Stepping off my soap box now ..... Sorry ...... BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue my guess is humidity is causing discomfort.
Wow you accomplished a lot so far. I hope you and DH get to enjoy your pizza and salad in a nice cool atmosphere. Enjoy the pedicure. Always a nice treat. Lol to kids favorite cereal. I would flunk that one for sure.
I hear you on noise. I have sensitive ears so that would greatly annoy me as well.
Despite the lack of sleep I'm still holding my own. TG for coffee:)

Hi all,
It's a "Friday" for me since I am out of the office tomorrow so I'm gearing up for two weeks of nonstop! DS, DDIL and DBaby arrive tonight late from NJ. I volunteered to do some babysitting for them - tough job, right?- lol - for the baby while they go to the beach or out to dinner. I really love the alone time with the baby. I will leave at the "crack" of dawn Sunday for the 10 days in CA. Then the very day after I return, my DH and I head to NJ for the weekend with DS, DDIL and their family at their beach home on the Jersey shore. OUr DS wants to take us out on the new boat. I am excited about all the activity, but honestly, I'll be happy to settle back in to a routine in September.
We received the most beautiful wedding invitation ever to our DDIL's sister's wedding in NJ in October. It's Black Tie which I'm sure my DH will grumble a bit since it will require him getting a tux. The venue is ultra formal - a true "castle" built for weddings. I am sure it will be fairy tale like and bound to be very lavish and fun. I'll pretend I am at the prom again. LOL My DDIL chuckles because this is the sister who never wanted a fancy wedding but instead a backyard or on a farm type event. This is about as far as you can possibly get from that notion.
Pam, I am so glad that your DS is doing better. I concur with them not buying that reason for blood clots. My close friend's daughter developed blood clots on her lungs. They suspected it was from all the IVF treatments she had to conceive her first child. She was on so many hormones and treatments. She is perfectly fine and healthy now. And, you get a gold star and your halo is really shining for all the work you do for your kids to help out and for the church, the hospice and more. You'll never have to wonder if you did enough. Abby is a lucky little girl with so much love all around and the big kids, too. My DD had a little boy named Jude in her class, and he was adorable. We loved the name.
Ann, enough on the humidity, right? We are supposed to have a good break so we can get outside and really enjoy it. I like it warm, but not the humidity. I am more of a 75-80 degree girl! San Diego, here I come...lol NOt really, but no harm in wishing. I am sorry that you are having pain. Hope it subsides.
I've been listening to Terry Gross on podcasts lately. Today was Willie Nelson's interviews with her. I love him. He is such an interesting person in interviews and funny, too. He talked about his spendthrift ways and said once he made a tiny bit of money, he was "throwing it away with both hands" which I thought was a great expression!
Last night I had a cut and color. At the last minute, my hair stylist (second daughter) - told me she'd always been dying to give me a Brazilian blowout to get rid of the frizz. I have really thick hair and the gray is hiding under the caramel color, so the hair is more wiry than ever. I was getting a "lampshade" look. LOL She offered to do it at her cost since it's an expensive deal. I said "why not do it now?" so about an hour and half later and my hair looks and feels like brand new silky hair. I cannot believe the difference. She said it is very good for the hair and will dry in about half the time or less. It is sort of like laminating each strand of hair. I love it!! Just in time for travel, too.
Sue, you have a fun day planned. I just read your post as we are posting at the same time. You are one productive person! :-) I finished my packing last night and I removed a pile of clothing. My hair stylist and I were laughing about packing last night. I told her that I look at my closet and say "wow, I haven't worn this in ages -I'll bet it'll be perfect in CA" or "wouldn't these green shoes be great?" It echoed what you said about packing what you always wear--that's the best way! Have fun at Mexican - my mouth is watering- and your dinner sounds great, too. You are a good planner.
Take care all and I will bbl.
