Seeing as I'm still online, I figured I'd jump start us for the week. Now I'll go back and let y'all know LOL. Finally cooling down and we were able to get a pretty decent 'hood walk' in. My steps have dwindled with this heat and humidity not to mention the mosquitoes that seem to LOVE me. Sleep well, all!

Good morning 😃,
Thanks for getting us started, Ann. It’s a much cooler day today so I’ll get in a good walk with D&D.
I expect I’ll have a much busier week at work since several folks are back from vacation and gearing up for the fall already. I do really love summer and it seems to fly by. But, it’s not over yet! I have a much bigger summer wardrobe than winter - even in shoes - so maybe someday I’ll be in a warmer climate.
My poor DH is in a lot of pain lately with arthritis in his foot and a hip flexor muscle strain or tear. He’s been given exercises to try to help it heal. He’s like one of those athletes who just plum wore out his body with so much work and activity over the years plus aging doesn’t help. 😔. He gets frustrated that he feels he can only tackle one job a day in the yard now like trimming all the shrubs, etc. I tell him I was born that way! Moderation.
Last night we decided to try a nearby Mexican restaurant that is always crowded and gets good reviews. We didn’t love it. Then we wondered if we are getting too picky in our older years. Lol. After living in AZ for a decade, we found out what really good, authentic Mexican food is like and it’s been hard ever since to find it around here. Well, at least we tried it, but we won’t be going back. People tell us from western parts of the US that they can not get great pizzas except for in our area and NYC. Same with Italian except for Chicago so I guess we all have our specialties. Mexican is not one here except a very few spots.
i grocery shopped last last night after we got home and I am marinating a flank steak for dinner tonight with corn on the cob and zucchini and a little rice.
Better get crackin’ so I’m not late. Have a great Monday all.

Good morning Judy. Yes it feels better outside today. I just need to pick up some fat free Greek yogurt that I forgot yesterday. Sometimes I like just the plain to add my own stuff to it LOL. Your supper sounds great. We are having pork loin that I'm just going to season and put in the crockpot. Sides will be determined later. I'm leaning toward coleslaw and a veggie and some rice but we'll see. Hope DH is out of pain soon, Judy. enjoy your busy day, and I'll CBL

Good morning!
After a near-sleepless night, I found I must have slept after all. DD1 called last evening to say they were heading to the ER at a different BTR hospital as DSIL was spiking a low-grade temp and still in a lot of pain. The kids were in bed and she felt they would be fine until she and DSIL returned. At 2:50 am she sent a text, which I didn't hear, so I must have slept at some point. DSIL has pneumonia, partially collapsed lungs and blot clots in both lungs. They spent the night in the ER as no beds were available. They started IV blood thinners and when I spoke with her at 7:00 AM they were hoping to get a room within the hour. They are very pleased with this facility (where my DSIS worked for over 35 years) and DD says the doctors they have seen seem very perplexed that he was sent home from a hospital with a misdiagnosis, as all of his symptoms are classic for pleural effusion. I am relieved he is now getting proper treatment, but am very concerned as to the cause. I googled some, but had to quit because it was scaring me so badly. My guess is he has blood clots resulting from back surgery he had a while back or possibly from sitting too much driving tractors. Prayers are appreciated!
DH is trying to repair the ceiling fan in the livingroom and is having great difficulty. Off to lend moral support!

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Monday!! We have a beautiful sunny day on tap, but it does promise to heat up later this afternoon so I will keep the house closed up later and the A/C set to come on when needed. I will be away all afternoon.
Ann ~ Thanks for starting us up for the new week. Your pork loin sounds delicious, as that is what we're having as well, only ours is leftover from the freezer. I thawed it out yesterday for tonight, as we have a sweet potato and some NSA applesauce chilled.
Judy ~ I could relate to the summer wardrobe dilemma. I LOVE my summer clothes and really enjoy wearing them. This year I really refreshed my capri wardrobe, so I am especially enjoying them. I will wear capris until it gets too cool to do so; and same with sandals.
Yesterday DH went to Kroger to replenish our f/v and brought home a Subway sandwich for our supper. I don't know if it was just because it has been so long since we had one, but it tasted exceptionally good!! He also brought home 2 small DQ Blizzards and we each ate half of ours and put them back in the freezer for anotther day.
Today I am going to A Matter Of Taste with my Red Hat GFs for lunch. One of us was sick the day we went there before so we all offered to go again so she could see and experience it. Today is the day! I am picking her up later, as our roads are still a mess.
Speaking of our roads, they removed and replaced the concrete curbs and sidewalks on the main street. BUT they left big ditches on either side of the roadway and the driveways are only half opened, so it is very tricky getting in and out (especially in DH's truck). It has been since the middle of last week, and when I checked the original email we got it says the driveways would be completed and reopened middle of last week. Well, that didn't happen! So far I don't hear them working today either. I sent an email to the management company, so I'll see if I get an answer.
DH's VBF texted me last evening that a family came and took home one of the Boxer puppies (so now there are only 5). He is glad, but it really IS time for them to go to new families. They are at such a cute age, and so attentive and people-oriented.
Summer lingers on and I couldn't be happier! I am in no hurry to be closed up indoors again soon. I would like some cooler open-window weather, but we'll take what we get. Our humidity has been low and it really only heats up late in the day. Last night I put the window fan in the bedroom window and enjoyed the fresh breeze overnight. Ahhh.... Summertime ..... love it!!
BBL. Make a great day!!!

Pam ~ We were posting at the same time it would seem. When I "sent" mine, yours popped up. I am so sorry about your DSIL! That is terrible - but what a blessing that he is now receiving the proper care. Good thing they pursued medical care. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers! Keep us posted.....

Oh my gosh, Pam. I am so sorry to hear about your DSIL. Thank goodness they got right to the hospital last night so they can treat it. My DH has that condition with fluid around the lungs with the congestive heart issues. But, your DSIL is so young. At least they now know what is going on and I am hoping they will have him feeling so much better soon. Keep us posted and I'll hold him in my prayers and thoughts.
Sue, have a nice time with your Red Hatters today. That sounds like fun.
I'll check in soon.

(((Pam))) Prayers for you DSIL continue. It's comforting to know that he is getting the right care now. As Sue said, please keep us posted. I hope the fan gets installed. Right now Carl is in the process of cutting down more brush in our yard. Always something for him to do and he so enjoys being active! Sue that is SO frustrating about the road work! Not to mention dangerous. I hope you get a response from your email and better yet ACTION TAKEN! LOL Sue our pork loin roast was also frozen That was when our freezer went and we were doing a cooking marathon LOL. It was cooked and vacuum sealed so should be very tasty. Judy forgot to say that I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your Mexican meal out. Stinks when that happens especially if the food is 'pointy'. Donna is coming over for a cup of coffee and we'll sit in the screen room and chat a bit. It's beautiful out there. I SHOULD walk, but not just yet LOL. I did get my yogurt so I'm all set there. Take care, all

Sue, meant to add that it sounds like your VBF does an amazing job of socializing those Boxers and that is so important for all puppies to be held a lot and get used to people. :-)
Ann, enjoy the time on the screen porch chatting with a friend. Sounds lovely. I spent my lunch-hour at a sweet table in the shade reading a library book and nibbling on my salad. Alas, my two lunch buddies are retired. :-( First day without them. But, I do have plenty of younger folks who generally have lunch with us so it'll be fine. I actually enjoyed the solitude today as I am feeling tired.
This place is a minefield of pointy food, Ann. I had someone call this AM saying she brought in bagels and to help myself and I just got an email from another friend upstairs saying she's back from Friendly's ice cream with ice cream sandwiches and frozen eclair bars. Yikes ! It is so thoughtful of them but I am avoiding it because I have my treat all picked out for after dinner tonight. :-)
Have a nice day and thinking of Pam and her DSIL.

Quick update as I eat my very late breakfast/lunch: DSIL finally got in a room around noon. He is feeling better and the terrible headache he had since last night has eased. DBIL went to stay with him until DD gets back there and DSIS has also checked on him as she works near there. I am so ready for the doctors to figure out what's going on!
DD came home to get a shower, clothes, snacks, phone chargers, etc. to bring back to the hospital and to get her car inspection sticker (expired)updated and to tend to some paperwork for their rental house business and to get me straight on who has to be where and when for the next couple of days. I called DD2 and she will come and take the older 2 kids to the school open house/parent/teacher night while I take Abby to her parent/teacher night. It's looking like DH will have to take the 2 older kids to school in the morning for their pictures and then Anna has a 7th grade orientation to attend. I have hospice team meeting and can't miss it as I am filling in for my supervisor this week and next while she is on vacation, which means I may have to bring Abby with me. So far, Wed. is free, thank goodness. We will all need time to recuperate by then.
I managed to stop by the hospice office and do what needed to be done, got groceries and picked up Rx and also picked up a shrimp-stuffed boneless chicken which will be tomorrow night's dinner. Now that I have had lunch, I will take a quick shower and head back to town to take the kids shopping for school supplies. My DD1, much like me, is a world class procrastinator and hasn't purchased anything from their lengthy lists. I just hope Walmart hasn't run out of anything!
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers! Just being able to vent here is a comfort to me. I have to be careful what is said around the kids as DD has only told them their dad has pneumonia and has to stay in the hospital a couple of days and Anna is already anxious and teary. Having Aunt Rae come tonight has cheered her up though!

Pam,
Phew! Your schedule sounds exhausting for a few days, and I think about how lucky in one way that your DD is to have so much support. Thank goodness you are nearby. What a scare and I hope you get some kind of news from the doctor's on the cause of this. I'm sure the kids are afraid but how great for your sister to pitch in, too, and your other daughter. My DD tells me that is something happens with her, she has really no support system. That's what happens when families are scattered as they seem to be these days. I know you have that situation with you MN daughter. I'll be thinking of you. Hang in there. Sounds like you are pretty organized overall with groceries bought and drivers lined up.
I'm barely awake today. I am glad I prepped our dinner for tonight. I'll just toss it on the grille.

OMG Judy....talk about tempting foods!!!!! Good for you for being able to turn a blind eye to them. Happy that your supper is prepped and just needs to be put on the grille. I hear you on sometimes just wanting peace and quiet. Seems like we never get enough of that some days. Hope your DH is feeling better. Pam you surely will have an exhausting few days. Wish we lived closer together so that we could all pitch in to help. It is comforting to know that your DD has the help and support that she needs. Feel free to come and vent here anytime. We are all here for one another.....we are a very close knit small group We had a wonderful time with Donna just sitting and chatting in the screen room. There was a nice breeze and we also have a ceiling fan which we had on to help cool things down LOL. Carl got a lot of her stuff loaded on her new phone and she is so happy and appreciative of whatever you do for her. We had Carl's extra Garmin (first edition) that he thought he lost so he replaced it. It surfaced so Carl set it up for her. Now I'll have another 'walking buddy' LOL...... Tomorrow we invited her to go with us to Leominster to hit BJ's and a few other places and then we'll stop at Olive Garden for lunch. We were gifted a $30.00 card to use and forgot all about it. May as well use it up LOL...... Judy I am now very tired. I am going to sit quietly before we eat supper. Carl already said that he would do the clean up...what a guy Take care and talk at some point tomorrow.

Geeze just realized I messed up on the dates......sorry about that! I went back in time LOL. Slept well once again. Today we are off to Leominster to do all our jaunts there. Donna and her mom Sheila are coming with us. We'll shop and then stop at Olive Garden for lunch. It's not my favorite place to dine as no matter what you order it is loaded with sodium, but we were gifted a gift card and just want to use it up. Hope y'all enjoy a pleasant day.

Hi all,
It's a beautiful day today again. I walked D&D and they enthusiastically enjoy every little walk and chance to explore. They really thrive on it. LOL I wish we humans were so easily pleased with the same routine and food, etc. There are no creatures sweeter than our pets. I just saw a video of a very overweight dog (over 200 lbs) who was adopted by a family. He could hardly move. They had him moving little by little and he lost over 100 lbs. You should see how happy he is now! If I can send it to you all, I will because it is inspirational.
I have to work on my own routine a bit. No matter how early I get up, I am a highly skilled and advanced lolly-gagger! I can waste more time with crossword puzzles and puttering around or just reading the paper and drinking coffee. So, I'm always rushing out the door and feeling late. I don't function too well without some caffeine and I love my first cup of coffee. I am going to try to walk the dogs first instead of last thing. I'll be happier overall!
DH as given exercises for his flexor issues with the hip. He is doing them and they help but the caused another issue. His knee was so swollen last night! Good grief. My poor guy. He's disheartened that he is having so many physical issues. I know it is because he has overdone it all his life. Right now even walking much is hard and stairs are very hard. Thanks for thinking of him, Ann.
I started laying out clothes for my trip last night. I'll do some laundry tonight - smallish load - and get out my suitcase. As long as I have the basics, I'll be fine. Often I over pack, and then I wear the same few things the whole time since washers and dryers are usually available on trips if we rent a house or visit kids. Less is more! That's my mantra if I can stick to it. Luckily I don't pack things like shampoo toothpaste and blow dryers. DD will share!
Ann, I liked your back to the future dating system! We knew what you meant so no worries. Have fun at BJs and the Olive Garden. Want to know something funny? I have never been to the Olive Garden. The main chain restaurant I usually go to is the 99 and it's just a local chain. We tend to go to the smaller, local restaurants. They are my favorites especially for Italian around here. I think you agree. :-) Worcester now has a reputation as a food lover's paradise with all the great restaurants. Ann, if you have a chance stop into a small - not at all fancy place on Hamilton Street for Italian called La Cucina Italiana. It is so good!! Also Mare e Monti on Wall Street which is more expensive but a very nice special occasion spot.
Pam, I'm thinking of you today.
Sue, have a great day, too!!!
