Good afternoon!
I have been moving at warp speed today. This morning a person from the caregiver support group stopped by to pick up some informational brochures I got yesterday when I went in for training. Then I headed out on my walk planning to drop more brochures off at my neighbors' house. The wife has Alzheimer's and her husband is the primary caregiver. Two of their daughters have been coming to group and I know they are struggling with various issues. He worked with my dad for years and I used to be her "mother's helper" when she had twins in my pre-teen years. I ended up talking with him for an hour, in between her interrupting. The range of emotions she went through in one hour was amazing, including propositioning him in front of me, even with a capable sitter there. The sitter's sister was my mom's night sitter.
I finally left and continued on my walk and of course, by then it was stifling out. I called DH to let him know what was taking me so long and then started listening to a collection of Maeve Binchy short stories. But I got done and made it home around lunchtime. Lunch was my version of a muffaletta--low fat mozzarella cheese, deli-thin ham, turkey and salami on an Oroweat Sandwich Thin and 2 TBS. of Boscoli olive salad. I microwave it about 25 seconds and boy is it good! Dinner will be grilled salmon, baked okra, potatoes and Sue's broccoli/tomato/feta salad. I was down 1.4 at WI and that was with a little scale jump from the past few days. I swear that thing knows when it's official WI day and boosts just to taunt me! Anyway, I'm happy as long as the scale is moving downward.
Now I am on a whirlwind of housecleaning, but taking a short break. DD's 1 & 2 are coming Sunday for a BBQ, so I decided to get the housecleaning out of the way today, since I was already sweaty. I am looking forward to a shower soon.
Ann - I'm so glad you are feeling better. Finding a bra is frustrating to me and when I finally find a sturdy, non-wire one, I stick with it for years or until I can't find it anymore. There is a bra store in BTR that caters to breast cancer patients and has the largest selection of bras I have ever seen, plus will do alterations. They are pretty expensive at $60 and up for bras, but guarantee satisfaction. I hear you on the antibiotics. Have you tried taking them with yogurt? It seems to help me both with the burning stomach and the tendency toward diarrhea after a couple of days.
Sue- We do the same with credit cards. We have a MC & Discover that give cash back that we use for everything except Amazon, the Amazon card for Prime purchases and we pay any charges every month. We use our cashback either at Christmas or for a vacation. I hope you enjoyed your lunch out.
Judy - I never minded having to work around holidays when everyone else was off. It made for quiet days and I could get lots of work done without phones ringing, meetings, etc. Safe travels and enjoy the holiday weekend at the Cape!

Pam a friend of mine also told me about using yogurt. They do have a bra store where I bought several. However I am not strong enough to get there. The problem is the bra rubs against the scar. Hopefully the pain will subside.

Didn't sleep well so this post will be short and sweet. The antibiotic is working as far as the heat in my implant is concerned, but I have horrible indigestion. Need to add more yogurt to the mix.
Doubt I'll get back online today. I feel very sleep deprived!
Take care, all.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Saturday - and happy holiday weekend! Our temps got quite cool overnight and remain so this morning. We are only predicted mid 70's this weekend - with our warm-up coming Monday and Tuesday (back to 80+) then a big drop off to highs of 70ish and lows of 50ish. I will be fine with that.
Ann ~ I hope the bra works out for you. I am glad Pam mentioned yogurt to you, because I thought about it yesterday, but had already posted. Hopefully it will help you. Love & prayers.
I tried the Dave's Killer bread this morning and it is definitely a keeper. I had one slice toasted, and it did not disappoint in the least. It was crunchy and substantial. What I don't like about most "diet" breads is that they feel like air in my mouth - but this one did not. I can picture a sandwich on it and I look forward to it. I am so appreciative to you all for the recommendation. I also used 1 Tbsp of peanut butter on it and pitched my old jar of Better 'N Peanut Butter (that was almost empty). I like the real thing better and would rather use a smaller amount (duh!).
Today promises to be a quiet day around here. I have a few little chores to do and then some R&R time. I think DH and I may be going out for spicy chicken sandwiches sometime this weekend. Then we have our Holiday Alkathon on Monday - and then a visit to DH's VBF to play with dogs and puppies and time around the fire pit - then dinner of his homemade Chicken Parm (a favorite!!).
I never made it to the big mall yesterday, so that may be a trip next week (when it will be quiet because the kids will be back in school). But I got my Sam's Club trip done and we had rotisserie chicken for supper. I had tried a Meijer one recently and got one supper out of it, whereas Sam's gives 2-3 meals and tastes MUCH better! I cooked corn-on-the-cob and made broccoli/feta salad with the addition of some raw cauliflower. Beautiful colors on the plate as well as flavors. Very satisfying. Since I am trying to drop a few pounds, any little tricks are helping.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Happy Saturday!
I got my walk in this morning. That makes a solid week of either walking, yoga or both. I am proud of this as I have to push myself to stay active. Other than that, I have puttered around the house doing various little tasks and then watched the Nebraska football game, which they won, thanks to a defense that was on the ball and scored most of the points.
I had the rest of Tuesday's shrimp & veggies for lunch and added steamed okra (with vinegar)and a banana. Tonight's dinner will be an attempt to clean out the fridge some. I am leaning towards bbq pork loin on a bun and the rest of the broccoli-feta salad. I also added cauliflower to mine, since I had some. It certainly does make a colorful plate.
LSU plays tonight in their first home game. DD1 scored tickets which included VIP parking and access to a club suite, I believe through Farm Bureau, their insurer. DD2 is hoping DSIL can't make it and she is 2nd choice, lol. Tomorrow, DH will grill chicken for dinner and they will all come over. I haven't seen DD2 in several weeks and am looking forward to some family time.
Ann - Sorry about the stomach upset. Hopefully, it will pass. You are smart to get lots of rest.
Sue - Glad you liked the bread. I really like the texture and flavor of it. So much better than plain old whole wheat bread!
Enjoy your weekend! We are keeping a watchful eye on Dorian. I don't trust any hurricane to do what it's supposed to do.

good morning and happy September! I for one am looking forward to cooler weather. Last night we did get to sit in the screen room. It was a little chllly, but the air felt so good I slept better than the night before and for that I'm grateful. Stomach issues are still with me as well as the pain. No more fever so there's that! Still will continue to lay low. I see my surgeon on Sept. 9th and looking forward to getting the stitches taken out! That's where the problem is. Pam I envy your walking! I have not been out of the house since surgery. Maybe today I'll feel up to the task. Wishing AWF a great day and weekend. Stay safe from Dorian!

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Sunday - and welcome to September! We have those cool temps that Ann is looking forward to. We actually had to close the front door last evening because it got too cool in the house. I love it right around 70 but otherwise my feet get cold. It is still in the 60's this morning and raining.
So far this morning, we have split an orange for breakfast as we slept in a bit and are going to lunch at noon with DH's VBF. Yesterday I went online and purchased tickets for this afternoon to see the movie "The Overcomer". Several of my GFs saw it and said it was wonderful, so we'll see. We are planning to eat out after the movie (which will be over about 6ish). I am still deciding what to have, as the Culver's Spicy Chicken sandwich would take a big hit on my SP, whereas the grilled chicken sandwich would fit nicely. I am thinking I will go with the healthier choice and just taste DH's spicy one (if he gets it). That is the benefit of posting ahead of time rather than after the fact. My scale had edged down a bit more this morning and I don't want to lose my steam. Once I'm "in it" I try to stay "in it to win it" if that makes sense.
Ann ~ So glad that you slept better. Sorry about your tummy, but at least that is temporary. Glad to hear that your fever is gone. That is great news indeed! Hope you get your walk, just remember to start off slowly and easily. I always tend to overdo then am sorry later.
Pam ~ I agree that bread is better than plain ol' wheat. My DH buys Seeduction bread at Whole Foods and it is thick and grainy as well, but the slices tend to be smaller and it is higher in SP. I want the texture and flavor without the big SP hit (don't we all?). I eat bread so seldom that I double bagged mine and put it in the freezer.
Judy ~ I do hope you and your family are having a fabulous time! Enjoy your weekend!
Time for me to start getting ready. BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue it dropped rather quickly last night. We did get to sit out, but I had a little throw around my shoulders. Not complaining as I do not play well in the heat. Sorry for your rain. I am going to get out of the house today. I feel like Jack Nickleson in the Shinning LOL.....won't over do it...and not going far...just a few in town errands. It will feel good to smell the air (as my gramma used to say) and see a change of scenery. Wishing AWF a great Sunday

Ann ~ I also prefer adding a layer to being too hot! Today, in fact, since it is only 60 dg I have on a T-shirt with a sweatshirt zip-front hoodie over it. I know my arms would be cold. The restaurant is always too cool for me as is the movie theater so I guess I am dressed for the day! Good for you for getting out of the house a bit. My DH quotes his mom as saying "blow the stink off" which makes me wrinkle my nose, but I get the idea. Being housebound can be tedious at best. Take care!!

Sue some places you really do need a sweater even in 90 temps lol. I keep one in the car for that purpose.
Got a kick out of blow the stink off. My aunt used to say that all the time when we were kids.
I did get out. Took my time and when I got home I was tired but it was a good tired. Hopefully tomorrow I'll feel stronger than today.
Take care all.

Good evening!
I am laughing because my mom also used to say "Get out and blow the stink off". I wonder if that phrase came from The Honeymooners or some old radio show?
Ann - I'm so glad you're feeling better! Now that you can get out and about a little, you may find the time flies and before you know it, the stitches and the antibiotics will be gone. I know what you mean about getting a little stir-crazy. Just take things slow and easy for now.
Sue - I usually divide my Dave's Killer bread into 6 slice packages and freeze a couple, then put the rest in the fridge. Glad you liked it. Please stand outside, face south and blow me some of that cool weather. I am SO ready for fall!!!
After Mass this morning I got my walk in--2 miles--under the shade trees in the cane field near our house. I listened to my audio book, short stories about women, by Maeve Binchy. By the time I finished, I was dripping wet.
DH and I decided to have brunch today, since we planned an early dinner with the DDs & kids. I had scrambled eggs with ham bits and shredded cheese, a slice of Dave's toast and 2 pieces of bacon. That held me fine until late afternoon. We had bbq chicken, potatoes cooked in onion soup mix, mac & cheese for those who didn't want the potatoes, corn, smothered okra & tomatoes and butter beans. I took small servings of most things, but a larger helping of the okra and split a huge chicken thigh with DH. DD1 made a dessert pizza and I enjoyed a small slice of that. Once again, I am a tad over plan for today, but the scale is still moving downward, so I'm okay.
After dinner, we played a dice game called Left, Right, Center. I like it because even little Abby can play and players aren't eliminated until the very end. DDs and I also started planning for a trip to BTR to see the Downton Abbey movie later this month. I loved the series, so it will be fun to see the characters again. DD2 also wants us to see The Goldfinch, so I need to get the book read soon. I always like to read books before seeing the movie.
As the girls were leaving, the young man who grew up next door was walking the dog with his two daughters. DD's seemed to enjoy trading info about themselves and former classmates and laughing about school bus shenanigans, while Abby and his DD played with our cats who seemed quite interested, but not necessarily friendly towards the dog.
I got the kitchen all cleaned and the 2nd load into the dishwasher, got jammified and headed for my chair. It was a good day! Now I'm going to read a bit before turning in.

Follow the yellow brick road to Monday....September 2 Pam I have not idea where that saying came from. Perhaps you are right, and it was from a radio/tv program Happy you had such a wonderful day playing games and enjoyed brunch and dinner with the kids. I too love to read the book and see the movie. Most times I enjoy the book better
