I'll always be thankful for the receptionists and leader at my original meetings. I joined under the original point plan which in 2 months changed to points plus. I joined during the "fire sale" and walked up to purchase all kinds of things.....they looked at me and said "Trust us, you don't want to do that".....so I didn't! The planned changed and then I understood why!
I could never understand though why people pitched all their stuff in the trash when the plan changes (or they are told it's changing). I still have all my books and stuff from all the plans....I do give new plans a good try but I always want to be prepared, lol!! Someone was on a board one time complaining that she ditched all her stuff and didn't like the new plan...I asked the obvious, why did you trash your stuff? Her response: "Because the leader told us to as a new program was coming." I wanted to ask if the leader told her to jump off a cliff would she.....but I remained nice, though she wasn't.

I am right with you. I have all the books, calculators, etc., from all the previous plans I have been on and glad I did so I could go back to Points Plus.

True, some of us do still follow older programs (Points Plus), but I do it voluntarily. My problem is that it is kind of deceitful on WW side to not tell people that the program is going to change. There are people who have never been through a program change and will be surprised to find out that the plan is changing. I have seen the shocked looks (mine included in the past) on people's faces when the program changes and they just bought items thinking they were getting a good deal only to find out it is obsolete. As I just replied to Zazzles, perhaps the people purchasing the older material actually want the older material. Let's not assume they don't know the program is going to change. Maybe that's the very reason they want the older material. They want to continue following the older program even when it changes. Not everybody embraces change.
Most of the time, the buyers are unsuspecting that the plan is changing. Believe me I have been there. I have fallen for the fire sale and then found out the plan was changing and felt duped that I had spent more money on something I was possibly not going to need and then having to buy the new items so I could at least try the new plan. Of course, this was back in the days when you actually needed a calculator or slide to figure out the points.

I kept mine for decades...from the first time I went in 1984 BUT in some fit of madness while my daughter was here and we were purging items in the basement and truly fed up with dieting...I threw in all of the WW stuff, too. I figured I could find it or would remember it or was fed up with it so it is gone. That is why I did it. Took that stuff to four countries!

limefan, I understand what you are saying. What I am saying is that perhaps the person buying the older materials actually WANTS the older materials. There are a lot of reasons to purchase older WW materials.

I used to buy multiple hand-held calculators for whatever plan was operational at the time. Lost track of how many would go missing over the years, but they were always handy. Hate that WW discontinued them altogether to make you totally dependent on the App.

Have you ever looked on Ebay for WW program materials?
Wow, you'd think they are selling gold.π
I have my old plan stuff too, even my paper trackers from 1997.
My mother in law gave me her old WW program info, she passed many years ago, I still have that too.
I'm a WW hoarder apparently lol
