Sorry-- late start today to reading our thread. My time was consumed w/ "stuff." Never got dressed. Decided just to jumpstart Monday's thread and "chat" on it. Apologies

Ann So very sorry that your neighbor passed. Sending prayers and a warm hug. Am glad that you could bring some cheer and kindness to his last days.
Pasta is easy to "under estimate" what is a portion.
Audrey So thoughtful of you to help your neighbor in their time of sorrow.
Bee j Offering up prayers for your son and his steady improvement. Sending a warm hug to you.
Becky Glad the satellite fix is in effect. Never would have thought about the tree limbs interfering w/ the signal, but it makes sense.
Cathy Cute story about the many hands that helped cut your long hair. My hair is letting me know that it's too short for the weight to pull it down. It's looped in to a big fat curl below each ear. I will definitely pull out the flat iron on school days!
Mj Glad that the grands got along well. Always a plus for the babysitters! Hope that your taxi schedule gets solidified soon.
LaDonna Kudos on your string of "good days" and putting together a strategy for the shindig.
Pam Hope that Sunday was another good one for you. Napping and watching football sound like a fine way to spend Sunday.
susi Hope that you had a blast!

Monday's goals
Start the day w/ my best Earl Grey. If weather permits, I will walk the inner & outer quad on campus. Hit the grocery store.
Ha ha ha. . . I will be the ins, company's star caller on Monday. I have 3 different inquiries.
Sorry, can not recall who asked when R's surgery is. He is scheduled for 7 am on September 17th. A good omen-- it's his dad's birthday. Am sure that my DFIL will be w/ R. They were very close. The doctor will perform a cervical fusion and bone graft.

From Saturday: "Wish that I did not feel like I was forgetting something important in the usual "stuff" that June handles." Random DivaThought: Is the payment for COBRA all in place? (that was MY biggest <omg> when things were shifting)
I'm IN for Monday.

Ann, I hope you have a good appointment tomorrow when the stitches come out. June, enjoy that tea I hope everything goes well for Rโs surgery. MJ, I panic about the weirdest stuff I think Iโve forgotten. I will try to track, move and hydrate. I have been straying out of my lane too often. This morning I am setting up for our first club meeting of the year, which will be at 9:30 Wednesday morning. I plan to walk before breakfast to get in a lot of movement even though itโs not all exercise. Dinner will be leftover beer can chicken with salad and a vegetable.

Doubt I'll be back tomorrow. Will be a long day going to surgeon and having stitches out and also need to address the slight discomfort on that side. Also want to stop and see Kay, dear Sunny's wife.
Take care.

Ann Prayers for your neighbor's family.Good luck with your doctor appointment.I'm sure Kay will appreciate you and Carl stopping by.
June The day for R's surgery sounds like a good omen.I'm sure his DF will be with him.Kenneth knew there were limbs over the dish but since the programs were just on certain channels and other channels were fine he didn't think that was the problem but it was enough to keep us from getting enough signal.I hope you get your insurance questions answered to your satisfaction.
Monday goals:Track, move and hydrate. We need to go to the grocery story and buy something for dinners for the next few nights.I need to get some healthy produce.

I had a great op Sunday despite the huge table of food/dessert. I took yogurt and a graham cracker to eat and I ate breakfast as planned right before I left for church. Our friends and family day turned out great. We had lots of folks show up, kids too! Now if we could just do that every Sunday. Jayleigh came over and spent the afternoon with me. Finally got to see my Button We went to town and I bought her 3 pair of shoes LOL One pair was rain boots. I was going to get her an outfit but she could not find anything she liked. We ended our visit at Dollar Tree where six dollars bought her two bags full of treats. We had a blast. I'm worn out and ready to execute another OP day tomorrow. June, I asked when the surgery was believe...that's right around the corner. Hope it comes quickly so the healing process can begin. Great Monday plans, Ann, good luck with the stitches...will be thinking of you. Sorry to hear about Sunny...hugs and prayers. Hi Mj Audrey, I was straying a lot and that's why I decided to start back with meetings. So far its helping. Becky, glad all is well with the TV. Have a great Monday. Cathy, Even though the other meal was more than the pasta meal its sounds like it would satisfy more than the pasta. Me anyway. Sending prayers for your sister and BIL.

Ann May all go smoothly for you tomorrow. Hope that the doctor can find a way to relieve that pain.
Knowing that others care helps as much as anything can when a loved one dies. Your presence will be a comfort.
LaDonna You rocked it, Sunday. You really put that "want power" to work. Glad that the church event drew a large crowd. Thx for sharing what a fun visit you & Jayleigh shared. Put a smile on my face.
Mj That & approval for R's surgery were my biggest <omgS>! I have all the "big stuff" associated w/ R's termination handled. Some tasks required certain amount of relentlessness and a big sledge hammer. I just wonder if some routine tasks that has not percolated to my consciousness. Am going to sit quietly on M or T afternoon to see if anything pops up.
No worries w/ COBRA, I already paid up to September 30th. There is no way I would have waited anything like the 45 days allowed for first payment. If it had been possible, then would have paid the COBRA the day after R's job ended! Will set up payment all known bills for Sept. 17 - Oct. 17 this week. That should help.
Last night I had a nightmare about school...
Becky Kenneth sounds like R. K & R can figure out those kind of problems. Ha ha ha... sounds like we have the exact same shopping plans.
Cathy Hope that your DBIL bowel condition is improving. Did you manage to claim any more territory in the kitchen?

Update from my sister said they are still working on issues and a few new ones have cropped up. I think being in pain, not really being able to relax, sleep interruptions and all the rest are causing some of the side problems my BIL is dealing with. The staff in the hospital seem wise and on the ball so am hoping things will improve over the next few days. As my nephew told my sister, "If this were a person who broke his back and had to have it reconstructed one would not expect the person to be doing better than my dad is doing." Anyway...hoping the next progress report from my sister shows gradual improvement. Leaps and bounds of improvement would be better but incremental would be just fine.
We talked to children and grandchildren. The granddaughters were intent on folding laundry scattered all over the living room. Son was back from a business trip to NZ and Australia and will travel to the Middle East next week. Daughter is busy teaching and preparing for her university course lectures.
Today I will tackle the kitchen and perhaps another room. I have a review to write for a book I read last night and more books waiting to be read. It will be a good day. Oh, have the timer set and will walk more today than yesterday Five minutes walked already and will do five more when the timer rings again. Also hydrate, fruit/veg at every meal and close the kitchen after the third meal of the day...whatever time it may happen.
ANN: The leftover pasta is lurking in the frig. Had a huge serving yesterday. I sometimes throw it out but hate to do so... Sorry to hear your neighbor died Hope the doctor's visit for stitch removal will also find you completely healed.
MJ: I can see wanting to go home to sleep in my own bed...especially if there are young children around to wake me up early after a late night! It was nice your son and DIL were able to have a good time with friends. I babysat babies of five couples when in HS so they could get together. Talk about nervous...was afraid all of them would wake up crying at the same time but instead they slept like angels and their parents had a great evening. How many schedules do you try to accommodate and fit into your own schedule? Sounds like air traffic controller type logistics!
PAM: have not watched a football game in decades...hope you enjoyed it!
BECKY: I hope that your sister's rehab time will see her stronger and more fit at the end. I am sorry she looks frail and thin.
AUDREY: I feel for your neighbors and find it very kind that people, including you, are providing meals for them.
BEE: Goodness...sorry to hear your son went septic. I am glad they caught it in time. Sending healing energy his way for a complete and quick recovery.
LADONNA: Your day shopping and buying for a friend sounds like so much fun! Good job staying OP with temptation around you!!!
June: I remember my cousin ironing her hair...and I always wore curlers to bed since mine was straight. Flat iron and curling irons that are electric are a godsend. I think once my BIL is healed from this big lower back realignment and fusion he will be going in for the cervical fusion. I like the idea of your husband having his father watching over him during his surgery. It is wise that you are calling the insurance company, following up and asking questions. The kitchen is my big projecct BEFORE I filter water or start another book or boil more drinking water. Hubby still has 2/3 of the counters covered but may try to consolidate it in one area. Need to find a better way to deal with compostable materials that now are beside the sink in a bag taking up counter space, too.
Okay...off to walk then tackle the kitchen counters and wrestle them into submission.

The ones with the auditorium seating?

Cathy Love the timer strategy. It's reasonable and effective. Sometimes I march in place because it's more energetic.
Truly wonderful that Skype can connect you w/ such a typical, and thus endearing, moment in the the lives of your grandchildren. Can just imagine all that laundry, the grands' hands hopefully busy folding clothes while that chat w/ you.
I wonder if you could "go" vertical w/ a few stacked shelves. Even two nested boxes would give his figs counter space, then one or two drying surfaces aover that space. Plus boxes could be easily recycled.
Becky Will continue to pray for your SIL.

How many schedules do you try to accommodate and fit into your own schedule? Sounds like air traffic controller type logistics! We have three children, who have gifted us with seven grands. Two families are within 5 miles of our house; Son#2 is about 40 miles away. MissMouse (DD) is the one who seems to have the most 'drama' - not from her personality, just from uncertainties that are cropping up this year. Her DH has a new job that has this apparently unexpected travel component. He trained in CA and went back for the annual budget meeting, but this other stuff was not discussed in the interview process - perhaps at "this level" of executive it was assumed by the company but his previous position only had an occasional day trip to NYC. As of yesterday, the only firm news is that Tuesday is NYC and Boston "sometime" - no times, no details <bleckh>. DD is now a department manager in L'Oreal's accounting team so while she can WFH it takes more planning than when she was simply a team member (SHE has executive meetings now). She and I are both taking deep breaths; this is not how we prefer to function. I, of course, must maintain calm neutrality to support her... <ai-yi-yi>... Son#2 & DDIL don't ask often; however, sometimes they are "last minute" - he's a lawyer and occasionally there's an add-on to his schedule that could not be seen in advance. We looked at the DGKids' school schedules so we have a bit of a heads-up on "possibles" and the "definite" (the Christmas party, to which we are also invited LOL).
