Happy Sunday all!
CJ, that must have been so disconcerting hearing all that noise and seeing so much activity. First off, I hope it ends soon, and also hope that your fence repair is covered by the insurance reimbursement. The quilt show sounds like it was a lot of fun! Glad you had the day away and got to see some lovely quilts.
Sue, sounds like good news that your eyes can heal on their own without surgery. Snow already? Wow, its not October yet.
Ruth, a 9 patch block made with 9 pieces of fabric, works up nicely and easily and uses up fabric. They are pretty too. Glad the time with Ds went so well. Think moving nearer him is a good plan for all.
We went to that reunion last nite (dh’s) . I did not attend an earlier get together on Friday nite because I felt that poorly. Last nite we stayed way too long, and I am exhausted today and do not feel any better.
My new wireless keyboard arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to that Ginyn

Ginny, I'm so sorry that you don't feel any better. You know how you're supposed to treat a cold and that is to rest, sleep, etc and since you were unable to do that I'm sure you're feeling exhausted as you said.I hope you can rest today. That idea for a nine patch sounds like a good one. It's one we did at the quilting classes and the edge had the flying geese that she sold us a little gadget for that helped making them easier....of course I don't remember how to use it but I'm sure there's a youtube for it.
I hope everyone else also has a good day and, CJ, I hope it's quieted down in your neighborhood.I was thinking of you when we were looking at the real estate online

There are many flying geese gadgets on the market and they would add a lot of charm to a 9 patch quilt. Even with a plain border and a corner block ( a 4 patch block at each corner so it eliminates the need for a mitered corner) is Charming.
Got a super short nap in and do not feel so pathetically drained

Hello Crafters Ruth - That move will be a big weather change for you, but I'd be happy for you to be near family for help when you need it. I'm glad your DS has had safe travels. I look at real estate for a few days and then get frustrated and stop for a bit, then go back and look again. Maybe one day the right place will pop up. I hope it's easier for you to find something. Ginny - Sorry you still don't feel well, it must have been difficult to go out not feeling well. Hope you can get some rest today. Flying geese and nine patches in the same quilt would look really pretty - like I'm sure your quilt will. It will always be noisy where I live, with the 4 lane road in front of my house, another road running down one side of my house and a military base nearby I wanted to post this link to a really cute crocheted angel ornament I saw before I forget about it if I came here later on: oombawkadesigncrochet.com/2019/07/guardian-angel-crochet-pattern.htmlIt says it's easy, but it look difficult to me. But it is really pretty - maybe I'll try it and see what happens. I'll be checking out the Slow Sunday Stitching blogs later too. Hope you all have a great day!

Ginny, I'm glad the nap refreshed you even if it was just a little. I forgot about corner blocks. They never mentioned that in the classes I attended. I never really got the mitered corner thing and they just mentioned that in the class never taught how to do it because it was just for a quilt top itself so I always though I would just do a plain blocky border or binding not mitered but that corner block plan sound fantastic.
CJ, I've seen the angel pattern and have intended to make one but never have actually done it. It doesn't look too hard but you never know until you get going on it. Yes it does sound as though your area has no hope of ever being really quiet. One of the things we want in a home there is room around it so that we aren't too close to neighbors so at least a couple acres and not on a busy highway. The one we're looking at right now is actually a lot more space than we really need but you know how it is when looking...you see one, like it and then go from there in deciding. I hope you'll be able to find one that you like. It's undoubtedly harder for you to leave a family home where you've lived all your life than for us to leave here. It's hard on my dh to leave here because it's been 30 years and as a child he never lived in one place long. It doesn't bother me at all to move. Yes the weather will be different for sure and dh is concerned about the humidity as he doesn't breathe well in hot and humid weather but we'll have a/c so that will help.
My plan for this week crafting wise is to try to get Christmas things made. One of those might just be that angel and then there's 4 more of the V scarves, toys for the great grands. I do have the things made for son in law and dd's youngest son already....nice hats.

CJ, that angel is adorable! I am no expert crochetter but it does appear to be simple stitches and perhaps even a not very sophisticated crochetter like me might be able to handle that. Agreed looking for a place to live will be a challenge and I am sure that the emotional part of deciding to move must feel overwhelming. Have you gotten an estimate of what your house might be worth?
Ruth, sure seems odd to hear you mention Christmas gifts, but yes that is not too far off. The lack of humidity is something I have observed about the upper mid west. The change in climate will be an adjustment, hopefully a food one.
My short nap helped me a little bit. Have not had to take too much for this cold today. Hope I am getting better
