Welcome! We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched. Welcome to October!

Happy October everyone! It surely doesn't seem like October here. Our high today is once again predicted to be 95*. Not exactly the kind of weather that makes you think of sweaters and hot chocolate.
The whole whistleblower/impeachment thing reminds me of a sweater though. A sweater where you pull a thread and suddenly it just all seems to start unraveling and falling apart. I think this very well may lead to all kinds of "secrets" coming out where the JA has tried to assert Mafia type tactics to his own personal advantage. Some congressman (can't remember which one right now) said this is worse than Watergate, and I think he has a real point there. True Nixon was trying to get dirt on his opponent and broke the law to do it, but I think we are going to find that even far more devious things than that have been going on and being covered up by this administration from the very beginning, and all in the name of benefiting a sociopath.

It's now being reported Trump contacted foreign countries to assist AG Barr's investigation of the U.S. counterintelligence probe into the 2016 campaign. Bill Barr actually traveled to Europe to engage the assistance of British and Italian intelligence agencies to determine the 'oranges' of the Russia investigation. And exactly what else I wonder? Trump made the same request of the Australian PM. Does this sound crazy to anyone else?

I believe he is completely mentally deranged, but what really puzzles me is all these people willing to go along with it. Is being the Attorney General worth selling your soul? Evidently it is to Bill Barr. Mike Pompeo seems willing to sell his as well to be SS. All these people are going to end up going down in shame, or at least I hope they are, and they brought it all on themselves. Not a one of them was willing to stand up and say, "No, Mr. President," and you know they had to know what they were doing was wrong.

nashville11, Considering the sleazy way Trump, Barr, and Gulianni comport themselves, I'm guessing they're trying do an end run around our own intelligence apparatus. I can only imagine how awkward for our allies' these requests are. They will have to game this thing out and decide whether to push back OR to help a U.S. president that almost certainly won't get a second term. Senate republicans will be in the same boat in a way. I had to laugh when Jeff Flake said, I know 35 senators that would vote to impeach IF they could vote anonymously. Spare me!

Pam, I hope you are right that he won't get a second term. As for these senators without the backbone to stand up, shame on them. Ultimately they're no better than Trump.

Joyce I'm hopeful he won't but, they have raised a ton of money for his reelection campaign which puts Dems at a disadvantage. They're now running anti-impeachment ads too.
I'm wondering when we'll get to hear from the State Dept witnesses?

Come on, media! I know there must be other newsworthy events besides the ramblings and tweets of a deranged mental case sitting in the Oval Office
It's the Donald Trump show 24/7. Same old, same old rants and raves.
Got anything else? At all?
Boring now.

Looks like Pence may be starting to get a little panicky. Maybe he should have thought about the possible consequences before he sold his soul to the devil. No sympathy for him here.

Pence is as evil as Trump. Maybe even more so. I'm suspicious of anyone who claims to follow Jesus while doing harmful and evil things to others.
Jesus calls them hypocrites, liars, and thieves. If the shoe fits...

Sanders heart procedure is probably going to end his chances, IMO. He's older: strike one He had a failed campaign(though not really his fault) : strike two Potentially failing health: strike three (even though having stents put in at his age is fairly common, both sides will use that against him) Understanding Bernie Sanders' heart treatment

I think you're probably right DotRen, Even though he raised more than any other candidate this quarter, it does raise serious questions about his age (78) and the riggers of office.

Bernie's not my top choice, but I hate to see him go down because of this. As DotRen said, it's a pretty common procedure. Heck Cheney actually had something like his 3rd heart attack while he was running for VP. Most likely you are both right, however, that this will be the end for him.

Things seem to be looking worse and worse for the JA-in-chief, but I won't trust that until I see him fully out the door (and in a just world behind bars). Even as more and more comes out, he and his stooges just continue to ignore subpoenas, loudly shout their lies, and generally behave as they've been behaving every since he was sworn in. They have no respect for even common decency much less the rule of law or the Constitution which they're supposed to be sworn to protect and defend.
I'm going to be missing on the thread for a few days, so hold down the fort. Hopefully, I'll return to find something more hopeful in the news. I know I surely need a dose of something good, clean, and hope filled right now. Most of you, I think, know that I lost my mom not quite two weeks ago, and I had lost my dad back in November. I just need to take a break and do some "de-stressing," but all is well.
