Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Focused Body: Moving Spirit: Bright Gratitude: The ability to stay focused and OP today!
Had a delivery yesterday so got dressed for the first time in awhile. Mosquitoes are still abundant since it has not really cooled down enough to get rid of them. That means I usually have a fan on as they seem to like my blood. Hubby has his winter garden in...or at least sixty plants in so far. We should be fine for food if the underground and above-ground animals don't eat them all. I will walk in a bit. Lunch will involve garbanzo beans...took them out of the freezer to defrost. Maybe hummus wraps with arugula, tomatoes and onion or pasta with arugula?
MICHELLE: I don't know if my knees are happier with less weight to carry...but...I am I am also able to cross my legs better should I want to, cut my toenails with greater ease and do bendy things since the middle of me has less in the way so bending in the middle is easier. I see wrinkles in my face and arms as the fat leaves but am happier with those changes than having the extra weight to carry around. I don't go to the basement daily as I once did but do go upstairs to the bedroom daily...have to see if I find it easier or not? Still need to lose 30 more pounds and THEN I will notice it big time...maybe?

Affirmation: It's time for some changes! Mind: Decisive Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Strong Gratitude: Another pleasant day on this planet
Spent the morning cleaning the house. I did DH's vacing since he had to drive to the hardware store to get items to repair the fixit project of yesterday. A woodpecker came to the bird bath today. I was very excited about that--as long as it doesn't start pecking on the house.
Cathy: We had a mini winter this summer that killed all the mosquitoes. I was very grateful for that since they bite me when I do my Yoga outside in the evening. Speaking of evening, I went outside while it was getting dark and swept the front deck. That was very pleasant and something different that I don't normally do at night. So even though it is a small change it was something different I thought to do because of my affirmation.

Affirmation: I am content Mind: Open Body: Moving Spirit: Content Gratitude: Internet - to stay connected
Talked to our daughter yesterday and hope the weather allows talking to our son and his family today. I am hurrying through online this morning as there is thunder in the background.
MICHELLE: Hooray for finding something different - even sweeping outside at night - to change things up!

Affirmation: It's time for some changes! Mind: Determined Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Contained Gratitude: Lovely piano music
Today DH helped me to get a really big pine needle raking project done (for the most part). I was glad he helped since it cut off 2 days of this chore for me. If the weather holds tomorrow I will rake in the yard that goes around the house. The pine needle project worked on today was for the trees that are outside of the yard that goes around the house. Anyway, possibly I will only have two more days of this raking. Such a really big job for me! It is part of EMP and so necessary because of the wildfire danger. The dogs were so cute, digging holes (for me to fill up), cavorting--just so happy to have both DH and me outside with them.
Cathy: I hope your internet is OK. Right now I am listening to some very mellow lovely piano music.

Affirmation: Back on program and eating healthy makes me feel good Mind: Focused Body: Willing Spirit: Calm Gratitude: cooler weather with sunshine
Talked to our son and his daughters yesterday...it was nice to catch up with their news. Nothing really happening here that is new or different but it is good that we are healthy and happy.
MICHELLE: Love that you were out with your husband and the dogs were frolicking and happy you were both outsisde with them.

Affirmation: It's time for some changes! Mind: Focused Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Happy Gratitude: Where I live
Monday: Just the loveliest day imaginable today! I spent the day outside and managed to get some painting done which I thought would have to be put off until next spring. Raked.... Got the rest of the enclosures for the bushes installed. It's supposed to be another lovely day tomorrow so I am going to spend the day outside again in my shirt sleeves. Doing my happy dance!!!
Cathy: Today I made a big pile of leaves. Then I laid down in them--the dogs loved that. I threw them up in the air all over us. It was just so fun! This idea came to me because of my affirmation. I love leaves that are in piles that can be kicked in the air etc. because when I lived on the desert trees did not exist. Such a treat for me when we moved to a city that had them and also a river running through the city.

Affirmation: Positive thinking -> positive day Mind: Focused Body: Will be moving Spirit: Bright Gratitude: Scale was up (again) but my attitude is unwavering as I move toward goal (again)
I realized that by The Secret's standards I probably went over 180 this morning because I said I would NOT go over 180 again...kind of like the universe doesn't see the negative only the words...so...back on track big time with yesterday a completely Core day. I still wonder if it will work but need a week away from counting every single point for every single thing that goes into my mouth. I also think the swift rise of nearly 7 pounds in a week has more to do with my body having a setpoint at 180 and wanting to return to it more than it has to do with the extra calories taken in. Ah well...slow slog down again is in my future...unless it becomes a brisk bright beautiful bounce back to 174...
MICHELLE: I love the idea of you enjoying leaves and piles of them. I can't remember if we jumped in them when younger or not. I do remember reading that they can, if left awhile have fungus and such that are allergens for some. Still...having fun with leaves sounds...fun! my sister-in-law also posted photos of her dog with leaves...not sure if they were real or paper leaves, though. Finding joy in small things is wonderful!

Affirmation: It's time for some changes! Mind: Unstoppable Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Dedicated Gratitude: Electricity
I had a relaxing day today doing my homemaking duties inside since the wind decided to reek havoc in the form of an epic dust storm.
Cathy: I get what you are saying about wording being so important. I read an interesting book years ago "Metaphors We Live By" which helped me understand many things about choice of wording. Surprisingly it helped me also to understand the subversive nature of the concept of "losing" a pound. I quite thinking about weight in this manner and changed to the idea of "using" the extra poundage. Some of my affirmations I use have had dramatic effects in a positive way for me. Underlying these is a careful choice of wording that I respond to by losing and then maintaining. This has been a very long journey for me. My eating life in my rear view mirror is something I never ever want to go back to. Just chatting......

Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Focused Body: Moving Spirit: Bright Gratitude: OP days have seen a scale reward
The scale was down 2.8 this morning. I "saw" 179 before bed then thought that was puny so told myself 169...either way a down drop was nice to see and I know the trend will continue as I continue on program. I also got in the walking and that always helps mentally even when there is no change on the scale. I also can see that winter nightwear/robes are looser than they were a year ago so all is good and I am much more comfortable in my skin than this time last year.
MICHELLE: How nice to be inside during a wind/dust storm! I hope you were not DUSTING as those storms usually make dusting a thing to do later. Do the dogs come in during storms?

Affirmation: It's time for some changes! Mind: Determined Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Happy! Gratitude: Cute little display for Thanksgiving
Today I made a list of a bunch of small items that need to be done and worked on them. I find it very interesting what happens when I run into my procrastinatables. It doesn't look like I put things off because I am always busy but I do and it is like pulling teeth to get me to do these things. I will overcome!
Cathy: Contgrats! on your WL. The air was so fresh today that it made me very happy--after yesterday when the epic dust/ash storm took place. The dogs couldn't handle being out in that so they stayed inside. Today they were running around chasing each other, frolicking around outside because they were loving it too.

Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Clear Body: Moving Spirit: Bright Gratitude: That the scale rewards me when I follow the program
I am working to catch up on the reading but wonder if I ever will. I think I might have to stop requesting books and focus on the ones I have already on the list BUT there are authors I adore and the opportunity to read their work titillates and tantalizes The scale was at 174.8 this morning so have .8 still to lose to get the last of the 6.8 pounds that came to visit back where they belong. I am finding that on Core I don't feel hungry and wonder if it is the power foods I am eating...whatever...it is nice not to be hungry, eat till satisfied, see progress being made.
MICHELLE: Hooray for clean air and frolicking dogs! As for procrastination and jobs to be done...if I made such a list of things to do I might give up...perhaps I *have* given up and that is why I hide myself in books

Affirmation: Without discipline there is no life. Mind: Feisty Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Placid Gratitude: A warm home
I wanted to work on my long list of items but had to work on the pine needles again today. The Epic Wind Storm blew 60-80 mph so more needles dropped and I must be vigilant about this situation for wildfire EMP. Speaking of that five wildfires got started during the Epic Wind Storm two of which were about 15 miles from me in different directions so both of these could easily now reach my valley depending on which way the wind blows. Just a reminder to me to take this deadly situation seriously. Fortunately it rained significantly so most of these fires were put out. It took every ounce of self discipline I have to get me to go out there and rake for hours in cloudy 40 degree weather especially since I just raked last weekend which was a huge job. Thank goodness DH helped with that chore.
Cathy: I think it is wonderful that you have something that interests you so much and that you review the books! Surprisingly, I consider homemaking my hobby and just love the results.

Affirmation: I enjoy life Mind: Perky Body: Content Spirit: Open Gratitude: Cozy afghans to use on cool rainy days.
Nothing exciting to report. The weather is rainy today and gray. It is nice to be inside and not out in the rain, living in a tent, or unable to stay dry and warm. I am reheating makhlouta (mixed beans and grains) and will add lemon juice and garlic to it for lunch. It sounds perfect for this rainy day.
MICHELLE: I love that you look at housekeeping as a hobby...wish I did! I am sorry the fires returned...do hope they stay away and that your vigilance will keep the fires from finding a foothold if they do come close.

Affirmation: I enjoy the day! Mind: Affable Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Playful I ran errands today. My plan was to leave as early as possible, go to the store that usually has the most people and long check out lines first before it got busy and limit the number of places I went so that I wouldn't suffer Covid crowd burn out or get too tired. This worked great! Some stores tend to totally overwhelm me because of the narrow aisles or the closeness of the people so I didn't go to them today. We are mandated to all wear masks and cannot check out at any store etc without our masks or basically appear anywhere in public without them. When this was implimented my stress level did decrease significantly. My goal is always to take this situation just as seriously as I did when it first started.
Cathy: Do you know how much rainfall you get annually? Does it rain significantly more at certain times of the year? We get 7 inches a year which is not much at all.

Affirmation: I am...here Mind: aware Body: here Spirit: Aware Gratitude: weekends...and talking to children
We have to go out to pay the phone bills and perhaps pick up produce and a few things from the store. I wish that we didn't have to go out but we do. My husband wants receipts and is not willing to do anything with money online SO we will be going out. My daughter mentioned sending a Christmas box and we are kind of hoping she won't because what if we have to pick it up or pay taxes on things or...whatever. Will talk to her about that this evening.
That said...it is a lot like California for weather with the coast, two mountain ranges, and a more level area between the mountains. It rains from about this time till spring and not much if at all during the late spring, summer and early autumn. One can snow ski and water ski on the same day if desired. As for how much rain? Some years more than others and some years there is snow where we live and not others. We get a LOT more than you do and when it rains in winter there are thunderstorms with heavy rain and they don't catch most of it so it pours down and washes away topsoil.
