Gratitude: Health & Happiness with a Positive Spirit
It was great seeing friends. I have a feeling I won't be joining them if/when it cools down and they want to move inside. Ah well...until then I will enjoy it!
MICHELLE: Hooray for relaxing days! I find it so interesting that each of your dogs is so different from the others.

Affirmation: The Law of Good is at the center of my being radiating outward. Mind: Active Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Serene Gratitude: Running water
I had a very pleasant afternoon gardening. Now I call raking up thousands of pine needles gardening! The weather is just perfect and not a trace of smoke. It did get down to 20 degrees overnight so I located all my winter gloves, hats etc and put them in the K where I keep them during the winter. I also have a coat hanging in there near the door. This means that I do not have to run back and forth getting these items every time I go outside, which is frequently.
Cathy: A day doesn't go by that my dogs don't bring sunshine and smiles into my life. We are scheduled for our Covid 19 vaccine boosters on Saturday. My daughter was adamant about me getting it as soon as possible but it doesn't seem that these vaccines are particularly effective. I am so grateful that I enjoy solitude but would dearly love to be able to do Therapy work with Clair.

Affirmation: I can do anything I set my mind to and believe I can achieve Mind: Focused Body: Healthy Spirit: Curious Gratitude: That I am me and happy to be so
My sister's test came back with greater potential but not confirmed ovarian cancer. The surgery will determine that and I am hoping she will be scheduled sooner than later to have her hysterectomy. No big plans for the weekend. Hope to talk to family via Skype or WhatsApp.
MICHELLE: My daughter's husband has not said he sees much need for the booster (yet) but my son and his wife have had them already. I love solitude, too, and am thankful I do! your dogs bring a smile to my face the days you tell me what they have been up to

Affirmation: I take action on important items. Mind: Determined Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Refreshed Gratitude: Hard work that pays off
Such a lovely fall day! I worked on getting my irises ready for winter and also finished my raking in La Fiesta which is what I have named the area on the right side of the house outside the formal yard. It really is fun to go out there. I have a couple of nice benches and some festive flower pots with bright silk flowers in them. If they had real flowers in them the flowers would get eaten almost immediately.
Cathy: There isn't a day that Buttercup does not make me laugh several times. Today I was playing ball with her and she decided she wanted to play mail dog which is where she pushes the dog door open a tiny bit and drops her ball in the house expecting that I will pick it up and throw it for her. When she mistrusts me she plays certified mail dog which is where she drops the ball through and then keeps her nose poked in to make sure I will do what she thinks I am supposed to do.

Affirmation: It feels good to exercise again Mind: Open Body: Healthy Spirit: Strong Gratitude: positive attitude
Rats 🐀...yes... 🐀🐀...again in the basement. I went down for day two to start the slow but steady exercising again and as the basement is not used daily decided to check the bathrooms...the drains were closed and weighted, the toilet seats covered and weighed except in the working toilet and it was dry SO I flushed it and...out popped a bedraggled wet🐀...trying to hop out of the toilet. I closed the door quickly and ran water in all the sinks, exercised and returned to the 🐀 in the bathroom...and opened the drain too see if it would swim down to join the OTHER 🐀 I could hear trying to reach its probably 🐀-mate? Told my husband and he was NOT happy. I did close the door on the rat with drain open and put the rather rusty 🐀 trap in the bathroom...just in case...as I thought about inviting Bella in to see if she would like to do some assassinations of 🐀 🐀 🐀 🐀 Hubby and I will recon the situation later today and by then...am hoping the visiting 🐀 will have opted to swim for freedom but...won't know till later!🐀 UPDATE: Went down with my husband and the rat had gone through the drain to freedom...I think. I put the drain cover back on, weighted it down and also weighted down th toilet seat. I don't mind rats but they stink and destroy and bring snakes SO am glad the rat disappeared. Hubby left a trap just in case.
MICHELLE: Mail Dog indeed...silly funny happy Buttercup! How fun to have canine companions that bring you joy!

Affirmation: The Law of Good is ever present in my life. Mind: Speculative Body: Walking ,Yoga, OP Spirit: Reclusive Gratitude: A small yard project completed Today my husband and I laid down some pavers in an area that is a safety issue in the winter. I am really glad we got that taken care of and especially grateful that he accepted that we would do it quickly and forget about doing it perfectly. I am recovering perfectionist. My favorite affirmation about this is: Get it done now and then get it done perfectly later. I am very successful at doing things in a average way
Cathy: Yikes! on the rat drama. It sounds like you are an old hand at this from past experiences. My favorite one is the time I almost electrocuted myself in regard to a deceased squirrel. Country life at its finest! These miscellaneous vermin are so disgusting. It's interesting that country folks can find some of these stories very funny while city folks are simply appalled. However I did not laugh at your rat story. I have a scream and run technique I use for items like that.

Affirmation: Believe -> See
Mind: Focused
Body: Feeling good
Spirit: Strong
Gratitude: Friends and family, internet to stay in touch, the body's ability to heal.
I have no idea what triggered the way I felt yesterday but am glad I am back to normal today! I hate feeling icky and my husband tends to hover when I do feel off. Hooray for feeling better today! We tried to talk to our son yesterday and kept getting cut off. It as partly that my 3G ran out of credits and had to be refilled and then that didn't kick in quickly...we finally gave up. All day yesterday I kept thinking and visualizing whatever bug came to visit being washed away by water I was drinking and then flushed out of my system. Thinking positive has to help!
MICHELLE: So glad you were able to have a nice long restful nap!

Affirmation: The Law of Good is at the center of my being radiating outward. Mind: Visionary Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Uplifting Gratitude: The voice of truth Yet another very pleasant fall day which I thoroughly enjoyed which is good because we have the start of winter weather headed our way. Cathy: I loved your post about visualizing and couldn't agree more about this type of thinking and believing. On another topic, it seems that just when I make up my mind to try going out in public with Clair I hear yet another story about the horror of the after effects of Covid that include such things as apparently permanent brain fog and vertigo causing the person to no be able to drive or work for months and nothing is changing. Just so scary. Then I go back to my decision to play it safe.

Affirmation: I look for the positive
Mind: Open
Body: Healthy
Spirit: Wise
Gratitude: My husband who loves me and traps poor unsuspecting rats in our basement (and doesn't' tell me how he dispatches instead of releases them)
Hubby did find a rat in the trap this morning but, thankfully, did not show it to me or tell me how he killed it. I don't see the reason for live-trap traps if he is going to drown or bash them instead of releasing them! Oh well.
My sister, in California, is going to see the oncology surgeon today. She has a quickly growing ovarian cyst that is "suspicious" but they can't be sure if it is benign or malignant without surgery and it seems ob-gyn oncology specialists provide better results than ob-gyn physicians not specialized in oncology surgery. I am hoping it is benign, her surgery is done quickly, and she has many years ahead of her. She is four years younger and my BFF.
MICHELLE: in regard to positivity and visualizing...I will continue to focus those on my sister. As for covid and being safe. I am rethinking the Wednesday cards. I don't know for sure who my friends are interacting with and whether or not they are being safe even though they say they are. I think being with my husband and only doing the essential things for now does make more sense. Stay safe!

Affirmation: I am open to possibility Mind: Positive Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Cocooned Gratitude: Heaters
Today I worked at my gardening hobby by cutting back the four large butterfly bushes and hauling away the branches which took a couple of hours. Also I finished getting some little bricks put into an area to keep the annual mud from being a safety problem. I am glad these two items are taken care of.
Cathy: We have Have a Heart traps for the squirrels. Supposedly they need to be released farther than three miles from their homes otherwise they find their way back. I checked out the mileage for a rat and apparently it has to be over two miles. I used to do an annual squirrel roundup, setting four traps at a time, and the most I ever caught and relocated in one roundup was eighty. I kid you not.
Sending lots of positive healing vibes your sister's way!!!

Affirmation: I do what needs to be done
Mind: Focused
Body: Strong
Spirit: Healthy
Gratitude: A plan in place for my sister's surgery - internet ability to stay in touch
My sister saw the doctor and has a complete hysterectomy scheduled for 15th October. They will determine during surgery if the situation is benign or malignant. I have decided NOT to go to cards today as one woman wants a ride and I gave her one a couple weeks ago and hubby was not happy. All of the women have had both vaccinations BUT this woman is involved with grandchildren attending school, extended family gatherings, etc. So...no more cards for me for now...perhaps for a long while.
MICHELLE: I can't believe trapping and releasing EIGHTY squirrels at one time. I bet the new location was FILLED with squirrels! Why did you move them? How long did it take to catch them all and how did you contain them till you moved them? Yikes!

Affirmation: I see the big picture. Mind: Inventive Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Cocooned Gratitude: Cooler temps I have divided up the yard work so that I get some done each day. I finished my watering cycle for the week. Possibly it will rain so that I don't have to do this so much. The cooler temps are a definite help. Cathy: Good news that your sister will have surgery very quickly. Isn't it just incredibly disappointing about having to socially isolate. I work hard on being positive but sometimes this makes me very sad. Anyway I am staying strong and not giving in to pretending that it is OK to socialize without maintaining distance etc. I can do this! The squirrel roundup: It was a number of years ago before the weasels began to live with us so that the squirrel population is mostly taken care of by them. There were certainly a lot! They had a bumper crop of little ones which were very cute to see running around but not so cute when they got big. I worked every day on the project and tried to set those four traps three or four times a day. Then I put them on the back of my quad and drove them to their new happy home complete with complimentary piles of sun flower seeds for them to eat while they adjusted to their new digs. It is surprising how time consuming the process is. Of course when I started out there were so many that my traps would get full fast but as the population decreased so did the trapping success. However it was a veritable squirrel ghost town around here by the time I got done.

Affirmation: Believe -> See
Mind: Inquisitive
Body: Healthy
Spirit: Content
Gratitude: Positive Attitude
I am content that I did not get together with friends. Even if the chances of catching something are minimal...I don't want to risk it living here with the medical situation the way it is. I will miss socializing but won't miss the worry.
MICHELLE: Do you still have squirrels or did you get rid of all of them? Are there chipmunks, too, or only squirrels?
