well I figured out what my problem was with the hat. I'm not good at cables..haven't had much experience doing them but I figured out I was doing. The part that said "going behind the crossed treble, fptc in the first and second stitch" I was doing wrong and doing a bptc instead so it thru the while thing off. I remembered that the last time I was doing this in a pattern I had no idea what they meant and watched a video. Iremembered what they said to do in that and now I'm on track and on the decrease rows so am nearly done. I'm using some yarn that belong to my ddil's mother and it is in only 80 yarn skeins so it looks like I might use at least two of the 4 skeins that I have. It would be great if I could finish with two then I'd have enough for one more hat. If I have to go into the third it means that I'll have most of that one left and not enough with the fourth skein to make that kind of hat anyway and I have no other yarn that will go with it.I guess I'd try another hat that uses less yarn than this cable type and hope for the best.
I hope all of you have had a good day. I hope you will get some rest Ginny and hope that CJ has good programs to watch or a good book to read. Sue I hope you're not getting snow up there. Phyl, I guess you're on your way to wherever they're having the class. Have a good time. Hello also to Meg. We miss you.

Ruth thanks for mentioning Meg! I heard something about wildfires in California and though of her. Hope that she, Devin and JAnet are ok. I am glad you have the patience to work through the YouTube’s for your crocheting issues. (Right now I do not have the patience to work through crochet issues). I always like it when a new project uses up just the right amount of yarn... sounds like you are in that position. I am trying hard not to buy more yarn no matter how pretty it is.
I ended up working just this afternoon. They were so short drivers. Dd#2 will be over tomorrow, but I hope I can at least iron the sashing fabric before I cut it. Then I have to seriously co sided layout and what block goes where. Ginny

Phyl, I thought you were Hannah's grandma. Sometimes I get mixed up on all these names you mention but at least now I do know how Delona is I made stuffed peppers yesterday. They were delicious. We haven't had those in awhile.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I didn't make it here to post yesterday due to my adventurous day I'm sure you all are interested and want to hear about it It started out fine and I actually pressed and cut the fabric for my class tomorrow. It took me about an hour and at the end of it I wasn't very happy with the cotton muslin fabric I had picked to use. It has a very silky feel to it and is a bright white. I saw that I did have another piece of a cream muslin that looks and feels more to my taste, so I figured I could use that instead. As I left my sewing room I thought I was going to tell you all that I figured out why I haven't been quilting. I thought it was lack of motivation or something like that, but it's really that I'm just lazy I hated cutting out that fabric and trimming it. I was laughing at myself. A bit later after that I started having a problem with my vision. I was seeing a circle with jagged edges that were bright and shimmering like diamonds. It went away in about 5 minutes or so and I was left with some sinus pressure. It scared me a bit and when I researched on the Internet I was concerned that it could be a retinal detachment happening. So I called the eye doctor and they said to come in that day, which I did. They ran a bunch of tests and took pictures of the eyes, and dilated them but everything looked fine. I told the doctor about staring at the bright white fabric for almost and hour and she said that could have contributed to what happened, but that it was likely a visual (ocular) migraine, even though I didn't get a headache. I do think staring at that white fabric was a part of it. I was relieved it was nothing more serious, it really shakes you up when you think you might lose your vision. Last evening I put the white fabric aside and cut out the 2 pieces of the cream muslin and that's what I'll use for my class tomorrow. It's a beautiful fall day here, sunny and in the 60s but supposed to rain tomorrow. I need to make up some lists of what I have to bring tomorrow (including a packed lunch) so I'll be ready. I have all my supplies for the class ready too. Take care everyone!

Yes, Ruth, I thought that Hannah was Phyl’s granddaughter also. Funny how we chat about friends and family like we know all the people in each other’s lives.
Phyl, enjoy your stuffed green peppers! my Dh likes them, I just like the stuffing as I am not a big fan of peppers.
CJ, glad you are ok and I am very glad that the doctor saw you immediately. It could have been something serious and it was good to get it checked out. Have fun packing for class tomorrow. Cannot wait to hear how it goes.
Hi Sue, how is your foot doing with the new treatment regimen? Ginny

Ocular migraines can be scary when you don't know what they are. Unfortunately, I have had a lot of them in the last five years. Light from certain angles, eye strain, LED and halogen lights.
I won't be getting my orthotics for about a month, so my foot will be squawking until then. Hopefully I can get it retaped several times between now and then. I can't tape my foot myself.
The dogs' outside water dish was frozen solid this morning. We may have snow tomorrow and Monday. This is a quick change of seasons!

CJ, that must have been so frightening. I'm glad the eye doctor could see you right away and that everything turned out ok. It's funny how migranes can work. I had a problem a few years ago where at times especially aftger walking a distance I would get a little nagging headache in the right temple and my left leg would go numb. My doctor at the time said it could be tia's. My present doctor told me it's probably a form of migranes. Anyway, I'm really glad you're ok and have found a substitute for that bright white fabric. I does sound like it was the stimulus for that visual event.
Sue, I hope all goes well with your feet until you can get those orthotics
Ginny I hope you're having a good day and doing something fun. Were you a able to work on your quilt last evening. If you said, I must have forgotten.
I think that our temp today is higher than they had forecasted. It's a nice day. I'm still working on organizing and determining what we'll take with us on this first trip whenever that happens. I also need to just force myself to do some crochet finishing work.
See you all later

Well it snowed in the night and is still snowing and it's cold. Good day to stay in the winter quarters and crochet but it's also a good place to weed out things. The storage area under the stairs is right outside the door of that room so I can grab boxes, pull into the WQ and work on sorting thru them. And then there's all the bins and boxes of pictures in the walk in closet that I need to sort thru and give to the grandchildren

Thank you Phyl. that makes it all much clearer so when you talk about these people we know who they are. When people talk about their families or friends on a message board like this it almost feels as though we know those people too and thru you they are our friends and family also. Just like Doris' family. We were there when the girls were born

Good afternoon! Phyl thanks for taking the time to explain all the family relations and the names of the loved ones you chat about. I did not see Delona on the list....but I assume she is a a dear dear friend. Funny we all know each other pretty well here, but the family and extended family relations get to be a bit confusing. Of course I forget a lot too- so what you might have told me, I might have forgotten. For the sake of Jeana and Carrie, I am glad they are making it work- times are tough for many but with 2 incomes its doable. And yes, I always thought that Hannah was a blood relation. What a blessing that you all have each other!!!
Ruth you continue to organize and put things together to get ready for a trip. Bet it feels endless sometimes, but I know if you persevere and etch away at it, it will all get done. Were you able to get any crochetting in?
Sue, I hope orthotics are the answer for you!!! Are you noticing an improvement since the foot has been taped?
CJ- today is your class!!! Cannot wait to hear how it all went and what you learned today.
Attended my HS class reunion last night. It was a pleasant evening, got home pretty late so I am tired. I really wish we had a week off from all responsibility so I could just get stuff done. I am tired today....got home late last night. Ginny

Hello Crafters - HOpe you are all doing well today Sue - thanks for the info on the migraines, I might start having them, or maybe it was a one time thing. Ruth - Hope you didn't get too much snow. Ginny - I'm glad you had a good time at the HS reunion. Phyl - You have a lot of friends, that's a really special thing. The class today was very good. We were given instruction on marking a quilt top, threading needles (and knotting them), 3 different hand quilting stitches (rocking, stabbing and running), quilting with or without a hoop/frame, how to stitch between places on the quilt top, and ending the thread. We also learned about many different types of supplies for hand quilting. The class was about 5 hours. The instructor also showed us several quilts she has done. She does a lot of hand quilting and also a lot of applique. Here's a link to her website: www.barbaramburnham.com/It was a rainy, cold day here and driving to the class wasn't too bad since it was early, but driving home was tough because I was in traffic from a NFL football game that had just ended. But thankfully I was safe on the road. I'm really happy with the class and I almost finished the small design I picked to make. I feel more confident now to work on some of the other projects I've had around waiting to hand quilt. I wish this store was closer to where I live since they have some really good classes and they have several longarm quilting machines that you can learn to use and then rent them to quilt your pieces. I may still think about taking the class to learn and then going there to quilt some tops. I could probably get 3 tops or so done in a few hours, maybe even more since most of my tops aren't that big. We'll see Take care everyone!

Phyl, that's amazing. I don't think I even know that many people!
CJ, it sounds like your class was great and very informative. I'm glad you liked it. It does sound as though it's worth the drive to go there when you have time and get a bunch done in one visit each time.
Today I'm working on a pattern for a hat called Alpine cable. It's interesting and challenging. This is what the instructions say dc, FPDC* x 10 (20sts). So I had to read it several times because I thought they meant fpdc and dc in each stitch but then the total stitch count for the row didnt work. So finally I had to resort to going and watching a youtube video and found that they mean do the dc and the fpdc in separate stitches so that you're using up 20 of the stitches. I'm now on the right track I'm also using yet another yarn I thought was ugly. Got it on clearance at HL but bought only 3 because of that and now that it's being used it actually is great and I wish I had bought it all
