Quiet here today.....
Got to start quilting on the tree skirt, which I decided at the last minute to do a standard free motion quilting (random stipple) cause I like the way it looks. G

Where is everyone? My internet has been down all day until this very minute. I was on the computer reading a book that could be read offline and an email popped up so I knew it was finally back on. I also did some crocheting by finishing a hat who's brim I started last night then I started another brim for another hat.I couldn't do the hat I wanted to do today because the pattern is in my bookmarks and not in files so I couldn't access it.
Ginny, I don't know what random stippling is but I'm sure since you chose to do that it must be very nice.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here has been much milder, it's going to be in the 60s today and fortunately sunny too. But I think we're supposed to get rain and colder weather over the next few days. Hope everyone is ready for Thanksgiving - do any of you have a lot of cooking to do? I'm going to do something different this year and not have a turkey breast and pumpkin pie like I usually do. I did want to have some stuffing, since I only have it once a year - so I bought some of the packaged Pepperidge Farm bread cubes and I'll make some of that. I went out yesterday to buy just a few things at the grocery store and run some errands. The grocery store was very busy, I'm always amazed at how many more people are grocery shopping at Thanksgiving time. But since I don't have anyone to cook for but me and don't have any weekend plans I guess I forget how many people have a busy weekend with family and events that involve food Take care everyone!

CJ,no I'm not cooking a traditional Thanksgiving dinner andwill have no company and won't go anywhere. I don't know what dh and I will eat that day but it will be a simple thing. And as far as shopping goes, there's too much snow to venture out among all those that forget how to drive in snow every year even though most have been doing it all their lives.Still, that being said, dh might decide we should go anyway.I think he's getting cabin fever and there are some things we could use but nothing we couldn't live without.
Today I did a few things to clean and organize some more and started to work on the heart hat so I'll go back to it now

I did some necessary grocery shopping on Monday and plan to stay out of stores until next week. I was early, but the store was fairly crowded.
Today I had my new winter snow tires put on. We had a little bit of very fluffy snow last night with a little more in the mix for Thursday and Friday as well as much colder temperatures. Think single digits! I think I will hibernate for a while now.

Me??? I went in to work this am and then had to baby sit all day.
Sue, hibernation sounds wonderful. Happy for you that you have snow tires on. Did you see any footage on the news about those out west who could not drive in the snow? Its always nice to be prepared for the snow, But sometimes just a good idea to stay home. Think we all know that.
Ruth I am sure you will make something that Dh really likes on thanksgiving...you take very fine care of him with your culinary skills. Who is the heart hat for? Did you get much cleaning up and organizing done?
CJ- enjoy that stuffing and whatever you chose to make to go along with it. Its pretty amazing how wonky the stores get, as people seem desperate to get their supplies for a big meal. Yes, I think we are in for a big weather change. For us here its snow.....not sure about your area.
Phyl-you are quite a caring friend, making gifts for so many! How far along on the baby quilt?? Again thanks for the pattern....after the holidays I will get to play with it and see what I can make. Thanks for the good advice too.
I did get to stipple a bit more....but ran out of bobbin thread. Will work on it more tomorrow. Random stipple is a meandering free motion quilting- you just sort of sew along around in squiggle designs. No set pattern.
Have a wonderful night all Ginny

good morning, I have to sandwich the blanket and quilt it.might put another boarder on it. the baby was 8 something pounds. was born on hall-o-ween. so about 3 days will be a month old.the top is 35 inches square.most blankets are 40 -42 square.
we have some errands to do today.we had rain, sleet and ice most of the day. then bout 11 pm snow.this is a wet heavy snow.
did not sleep well. up a little after 3. boy you should have seen the big snowflakes and wind at that hour.
our neighbor Skippy is usually in bed by 9.30. his light was still on at 11. when I got up a little after 3 his light was still on.this is very unusual for Skippy..HE DID LEAVE AT 5.45 TO MET HIS BREAKFAST/COFFEE BUDDIES.
Other wise later I would have sent Don over to check on him.
Skippy does not own a coffee pot. So when the weather says stay home he goes without coffee.
we have to do our regular grocery shopping today.
also going to look for a coupe of stocking hats or something. I keep losing my hats. I do have a couple of hats with scarf like ties on them. they don't seem to be very warm I like my ears covered.even with aids I do not like wind in my ears.
well I better get started on my day.phyl

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's cloudy and windy here, but fortunately we won't be getting snow. Hope the weather where you are is not too bad. I'm really relieved not to have to cook my normal Thanksgiving meal tomorrow. I didn't realize that it was a bit stressful for me until I realized how I feel this year. I always thought I enjoyed it so much I haven't been doing any crafting, but enjoy reading what you all are doing. Hope you all have an enjoyable holiday tomorrow

Got home just a little while ago. We decided to go out to take care of the banking business today since Friday is going to be horrible with traffic and next week is to be very cold and snow. We actually had about 4 inches of snow here...maybe more, I'm not good at judging. Got the bank stuff done with no problem but then stopped at Walmart to pick up some things dh ordered online. It was a madhouse and we were so glad to get out of there. No I'm, like Sue, going to hibernate and who knows when we'll go out again.Dh was going to stop and get a pizza but there was so much traffic that he decided against it.
Probably going to mostly sit and crochet the rest of the day.

Good evening!
Phyl you are a kind and considerate neighbor. I wonder if Skippy just forgot to turn off his light or fell asleep on the couch. Anyway, glad he is ok and made it out for coffee with his buddies. Hope you got your food shopping done, with a holiday tomorrow and snow on the way I am sure the loonies were out in the store! Stay safe.
CJ- I spent the day cooking....prep for tomorrow. I totally get it, if you do not want to go through the whole shebang and make all kinds of food that you do not really want, why bother? Hope that whatever you have planned for yourself suits you and makes you happy. Stay home and stay safe....and out of the wind.
Ruth, agree, its going to be nutty on Friday- so getting errands done today makes a ton of sense. Were you able to get that crocheting time in today?
I cooked up a storm today, in preparation for tomorrow. No crafting for me, but I think I will read awhile. See ya tomorrow Ginny

CJ, yes it's best not to pressure yourself. Since there's only you, you need to do what's best for you not follow set traditions if you don't feel like doing it. Pick something you like and eat that. Thanksgiving is not about food, it's about being thankful for all our blessings. You and I can count one of our blessings as being able to eat what we want not what's mandated by tradition.
I didn't get much crocheting done after all. I mostly read about crocheting but I did start some fingerless gloves for myself. My hands get cold even inside the house.
Phyl, it's good of you to be concerned about your neighbors and I'm glad your neighbor is ok

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!!
My hope and prayer for each of you is that you can find some (and hopefully many!!) things to be thankful for today...and can smile knowing that you are indeed blessed. I know for many these holidays are a mixed blessing. Just last night my Dh opened up about his personal struggles with this particular holiday, due to issues left from his childhood. Many of us have that, residual and unresolved struggles....but still we are here today and blessed with each other. Thanks to each of you for being a friend. Yes in most cases we do not really know each other well, but its a blessing to me to sign in to this thread daily, catch up with what you are doing and find encouragement and a friendly smile. Ruth, CJ, Phyl, Sue and Meg- I am thankful for each of you and wish you a very happy Thanksgiving day.
Gotta start looking for another crocheted baby afghan pattern....Dd #1 is expecting her 4th in July. Ruth, nice to hear that you are actually making something for yourself for a change!!!
Gotta go check email. Catch yβall later. Ginny
