Good morning from snowy MA Carl is already 'out there' snow blowing. He doesn't mind it...so far....and does 4 of our neighbors. When and if it should get too much for him to handle, he will let them know ahead of time so that they can make other arrangements. Happy they cancelled school in advance, Judy. Love when that happens. That way you don't have to deal with being on the road while they are trying to clean it up. Right now our temperature is holding at 28.5! They did say that some areas could get that infamous 'wintry mix'. I hope they are wrong about that part. Snow I can deal with! I'd love to go to my surgeon and 'get it over with'. Still having discomfort on that side which is very annoying. On one hand, I'm so tired of all the surgeries....on the other hand, I thank God that the cancer is gone. Still can't believe that this 12/18 will mark 10 years of dealing with it. The homemade meat sauce and pasta added 1.1 to me. Will have to cut back today, drink extra water and once again get back to 'normal' Sue, I did think of you and DH with your grilled cheese and tomato soup during the snow storm That puts a smile on my face. Pam hope all is well with you. Will CBL. Going to sit and read a bit. Right ow I'm still working my way through the last pages of 19th Christmas the murder mystery series by James Patterson. A fun read. Take care all.

Hi all,
Greetings from our Massachusetts snow globe! It looks very pretty but treacherous on the roads so I’m thrilled to be home today. DH is already outside snow blowing and clearing off his truck, etc. Boston, only 30 miles away is 10 degrees warmer and just rain.
Ann, I admire how closely you monitor weight as it gives you such good feedback knowing exactly what causes fluctuations. I’m sure the meat sauce was worth the little bump! I do fine with lots of veggies but my downfall is the butter, gravy etc. I need to find a good substitute for butter and have never been able to do so. I don’t like butter substitutes or margarine in things like mashed potatoes. Work in progress- that’s me!
Cyber Monday today but im staying away. Lots of things sound great but aren’t needed and it’s so easy to get caught up in the marketing schemes as the deals really are good.
Sue, I’ve been thinking of your DH and hoping his cough is getting better with antibiotics. Keep us posted. This getting older stuff isn’t easy. DH tells me often he feels like he’s fighting a war with his own body. One thing gets better and another pops up like that Whack-A-Mole carnival game!! So true.
Ill bbl.
P.S. I lied. DH ordered a new TV on Amazon for the Cape which really is needed!

That's one thing that I was never that fond of.....gravies (unless they are red LOL or butter. I'm good with the ICBB spray or the one in the tub. When I journal in my little blue book from weight watchers I immediately put a notation that my weight will be up beforehand LOL....sometimes when the weight shifts I honestly don't have a clue as to why..whether it's up or down...but most of the time I know it's hidden sodium or just a plain old fashion 'pig out' LOL. I still can't be trusted around certain foods.
I just got off the phone with my surgeon's office. I reminded the gal that I was still having discomfort so that she can mark it once again in my chart. Hopefully he'll have a solution to this ongoing problem. The pain comes and goes...but the way I see it is it shouldn't come at all! Let's hope it doesn't snow on my parade on 12/16 when I go to see him.
Carl is still 'out there' snow blowing. Going to finish a few household chores before he gets back.
Tootles.........

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
Happy Cyber Monday! I just got home and started some supper. I sacked up the trash throughout the house, because DH comes in and laments about having to take off his shoes to gather it, then put them back on to take it to the curb. I had some things that needed to go out, so I just sacked everything up and put the bag with the one already waiting in the garage. He was so happily surprised when he got home!! He just took down the turkey flag; and it putting up the Merry Christmas one!
I had a good day at school today. We went outdoors for a short time even though it was cold and especially it was damp and no sun. Nothing like what Judy and Ann are describing, however. Oddly enough, last year on the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend WE had a snow day from school!! After school I made a trip to Hobby Lobby to get a Graduation card for our MSU student who graduates on the 12th. We decided not to go to the graduation, as she graduates at 10 a.m. and then her boyfriend graduates at 2 p.m. and all of both their families will be there. Anyway, I asked her some time back and she was in total agreement. She reminded me that she doesn't particularly care for ceremonies and would skip it herself if she could <LOL> I did want to see her before she leaves Michigan (for who knows how long?) and last evening we texted and made plans for Friday evening to have dinner (and she added dessert) together. I'm sure I'll cry all the way home, but that's OK. I can remember a dozen times she cried all the way home from the airport when we left St.Louis from a visit in years gone by, so I guess it's my turn.
I bought my final Secret Santa gift at Hobby Lobby - a most delightful looking snowman about a foot tall!! I fell in love with him, so that's what she's getting. On the way home I stopped at Kroger and bought eight $10 Starbucks gift cards to put into Christmas cards for my teachers & assistants - and get DH 320 (4X) more fuel points. He is so happy!! I am just about all finished with my Christmas shopping, except for a couple more things for DH - but he's fun to shop for!!
Ann ~ Hope that pain that comes and goes decided to GO!! Or at least you'll get some answers on your next visit.
Judy ~ My DH is doing much better. He finally was able to stop the cough medicine (daytime and nighttime) so he sleeps better and feels more like himself. He is taking the antibiotic and Emergen-C with good results. Our PCP absolutely swears by Emergen-C and has told me for years, but this is the first time I have bought it. Since we have it, I am taking it as well. Yep, this aging stuff is not for the faint of heart.....
I was pretty lax with my eating over the long weekend, so today I am back on track - we are having rotisserie chicken breast with baby potatoes and broccoli/cauliflower/carrot blend for supper. Then we'll have some Crustless Pumpkin Pie for an evening snack.
Time for the news to come on, so I'll go see what's happening in the world. BBL. Make a great day!

Still a snowin' and a blowin' out there. From what I just read, it'll stop tomorrow 7 am. Lol. Now they can predict the time I made a throw together beef stew for supper using leftover beef and fresh veggies. Carl loved it. He's easy to please in the food depatment. Sue glad DH was thrilled and that you have your flag swapped out. The gifts you picked up are perfect. I especially love snowmen lol. Carl and I bought each other a 65" QLED tv via anazom for Christmas. We will now just shop for stocking stuffers. Finished reading James Patterson and had to go back to the beginning of a book I started reading called An Affair To Dismember by Lise Sax. It's on the idea of Janet Evanovich..funny and lite. Sleep well all.

Good Evening! You are all probably tucked in for the night, but I will post anyway and you can read it tomorrow.
I had a wildly busy day. I was up and out at 7:15 to pick up DGS and take him to the orthodontist. Afterwards, we stopped back by his house for Advil, then I dropped him at school and took the car in for servicing. They finished it just in time for me to get to yoga. Unfortunately, yoga was cancelled and she forgot to let me know. Apparently, her agreement with the owner of the health club where we are practicing has expired and they are negotiating a new agreement. Since I had time, I decided to go visit my hospice patient. When I walked in the room, I was shocked to find her slumped over, head down between her lazyboy and the foot board of the bed, one leg on the floor and no shoe on the other foot. She wasn't hurt--yet. She is quite petite, so I was able to get her back up in the chair and then went to get help to position her correctly. The facility nurse was visibly irritated and said, "She does this ALL the time!" Well, yes. She has Parkinson's and is losing the ability to sit up and is unable to right herself once she starts slipping. Anyway, she came in, checked her blood sugar and left to get insulin, but never repositioned the patient. I helped her get comfortable, put her shoe back on and got her lap blanket off the floor and onto her lap. We laughed and joked and she told me on the weekend, she slipped the other direction and hit her head on a bookcase. She had a purple knot on her forehead from that episode. After the nurse gave her insulin, we talked about the weather, Thanksgiving, etc. When her son & DIL came in to bring her lunch, I stayed a little while longer and then left.
From there, I stopped at Tractor Supply to pick up a sheep ornament for Leah, who is very into "baa-baas" right now. I give each of the DGKs an ornament each Christmas. When they grow up and have their own Christmas tree, they will have a good start on ornaments. Just before I went inside I got a text saying the Hospice Christmas party was being moved up to this Friday because the Catholic high school football team will be in state playoffs at the Superdome next Friday. The administrator's son is on the team, as well as the kids of several other employees. I decided to look for some country-themed ornaments for the ornament swap/steal game. I found a red bell, a white star and a silver & burlap star, all made of tin and within the $10 range. I also got the very last sheep ornament.
I stopped at the office to turn in my visit note and explain that I forgot to turn in two poinsettia orders, one for a neighbor and one for DD2. I learned they had not finalized the order, so got that taken care of and promised to bring the check from my neighbor later.
As I was passing the local Stage store, which is closing, I decided to stop in and see what was left. I found 2 shirts and a light sweater for me and a burgundy Van Heusen shirt for DH, all 50% off. I also saw a cute set of Frozen 2 pajamas, but wasn't sure of Abby's size so I left them. When I went to put my purchases in the back seat, I found the poinsettia order and check, so back to the office I went. While there, DD1 called and gave me Abby's size so BACK to Stage I went for the pajamas. I finally got home at 2:00, starving! In my haste, I mis-juggled packages and dropped the bag with the ornaments. The poor lamb lost 2 legs. I could have cried, but DH reminded me there is another tractor supply store not too far away, so I may try there. I had a turkey sandwich, some sugar snap peas and a banana and then DH and I started online Christmas shopping. We got the Michigan family done and much of the rest of our shopping and saved a bundle! After 4 hours, I was too brain-fried to do any more, so we put it aside. DH made a grilled chicken cutlet wrapped around asparagus and topped with sauteed onions and mozzarella cheese paired with rotini pasta and veggies. It was delicious! I think he combined what he liked from several recipes.
I am mentally and physically tired, so will unwind with a cup of sleep time tea and my book. Sweet dreams to all!

Good morning all. We are still in the 'digging out' process. Poor Carl. He has been back and forth all day yesterday and back at it this a.m. We are taking Donna to a medical appointment here in town and she wants to treat us both to lunch. More than likely go to the Chinese restaurant here in town...that's is Carl is up to it. We may take a rain check and I know that Donna will fully understand. Wow Pam...you have surely been busy. That is no excuse to say that the patient 'does that all the time'. Happy that she is petite and you got her in a more comfortable position. Sorry about the lamb losing legs...hopefully the other Tractor Supply will have another one. Yeah on all your good deals. I just LOVE a bargain Your meal sounded wonderful. Take care, all and I'll pop in later. Judy be careful out there.... Sue, we may have grilled cheese and tomato in honor of you and your DH tonight Easy peasy and oh so good!

Good morning! I have had a good night's sleep and am on my second mug of coffee. It is a crisp, sunny 33 degrees, but should reach 60 by the afternoon. I have joined the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, a group for adults over 50 that sponsors coffees with interesting speakers, field trips and classes on various topics. I had been contemplating joining for a while when Tonya proposed trying to get our yoga class sponsored. Even with the $50 registration and a $70 course fee, it would significantly reduce my costs as the class would run from December through March. (She told me yesterday we only have 6 of the 12 necessary members, plus the issue with the space so who knows?) Since there is no group in town, I had to join the one across the river in the quaint little town of St. Francisville, but it's only a 25 minute drive. Today's speaker is a retired FBI agent and should be interesting, so DH has agreed to tag along. I went once before to hear a speaker on Alzheimer's who was excellent. I am hoping DH will also decide to join, though he didn't care for any of the class offerings this semester. We may have lunch afterwards. If we get back in time, I will drive to a little town just north of here to witness a pinning for one of our hospice patients. We are part of a system connected with hospice called We Honor Veterans, which has retired service members conduct pinning ceremonies to honor veterans in hospice for their past service. It is something that seems to give many veterans and their families a great deal of joy. We have pinned some who had never spoken of their WWII experiences to their families until then. DH has chosen either Mexican dishes or sloppy joes for dinner. Since I will be at RCIA class, he will be cooking and he dearly loves both of these. I think he is leaning towards rellenos as we have some poblano peppers in the fridge. Delicious, but not very WW-friendly. I saw film and pictures of your blizzard on the news and you are all wise to stay put when driving conditions are so treacherous. I am down a whole pound at daily WI, but I think it is because I didn't drink much water yesterday. It still motivates me to keep on keeping on, anyway. Ann - Carl is wonderful to help out neighbors in this way. I know with very heavy snowfalls it is difficult to keep driveways clear as everyone needs it done and there are only so many commercial providers of the service. I love your idea of a new tv as a joint Christmas gift. There is so little we need and it is difficult to buy gifts at this point in life. Sue - I wish my DH was easy to shop for! All he ever has on his list is books, books and books and the stacks grow and grow. I am glad your DH's cough is better. Your gifts for co-workers sound perfect. I am also a fan of Emergen-C. I hate the orange-flavored one, but the raspberry is pretty good. When I feel a cold coming on, I start drinking it and it does seem to help. Judy - I'm with you on real butter. Nothing takes it's place and I would rather use smaller amounts and take the points hit than switch to margarine. I grew up using margarine or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, but my maternal grandmother made the best butter with fresh cream (in an electric churn) and homemade bread and there is nothing like it. I have found that with lots of dishes, like mashed potatoes, you can cut the amount of butter to 1/2 or 1/3 and still get good flavor, but less calories. Have a great OP day!

Pam we normally do the biggie Christmas gift. You are so right...I don't need a thing now a days. I buy as I go along and only if it's on sale LOL. The high end stuff can stay there. Also a fan of consignment shopping. Being retired does have its drawbacks Hope you enjoy the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. From the type of volunteering you do, I'm sure you will. Time for us to get a move on. I explained to Donna that we would just be taking her to the appointment and then coming home. She fully understood. Perhaps she will come over for coffee. Take care........be safe...........and I'll pop in later.

Hi all,
Both DH and I decided to stay home today as the roads are actually much worse than they were yesterday when the college was closed. Yikes! It’s clearing now but I’m not rushing in for a couple hours of work. I’ve managed to keep up with emails etc from home. We just had another bowl of chicken soup for lunch along with a slice of wonderful chewy Italian bread from a bakery. I put garlic and unsalted butter on each slice but just a bit. Pam, my whole family hates margarine. We never had it in the house. Lol My Swedish mom liked all the “real” stuff, fresh veggies never canned and so firth. She was a big believer in portion control and not eating between meals. Guess it worked for her because she never topped 130lbs. Partly genetics, I’m sure. Lucky her!
I have to to run to make a work call. I will finish later.

Judy happy to hear you and DH are taking the day off. Roads here are very narrow. Of course you always get the daredevil types out and about. Sounds like your mom and my gramma had the right idea. My gramma used to say if you want to 'reduce' eat less and move more. She didn't believe in diet foods at all. I found some black licorice and have been nibbling on that. I just had to have Carl hide it lol. Hopefully I didn't do too much damage.

Hi again. Thank goodness for all our devices. It allows me to solve problems and help people from home on a snow day. I’m all done driving in bad weather. I’m taking the “senior” pass! Lol
Ann, great idea on your fancy new TV. Those QLEDs are the best! You’ll have a lot of fun watching all the shows. The one we bought was a Samsung 50” for the Cape. That’s what we gave at home, too. Hard to believe we used to think a 26” Sony with color was the cat’s meow! 😂. Then we bought a new dishwasher for home and a new Breville toaster oven. So guess we did some shopping, but all much needed! The dishwasher was a good quality one for home and a good deal from Home Depot. Ours just stopped draining well last week. We will call these items our holiday gifts. My DH is impossible to shop for especially in the clothing department! We don’t really need another darn thing this age!
I spent some some time going through a closet and filling another bag for goodwill. I never feel like I’m making a big dent in weeding out but little by little progress is being made. I cleaned out my makeup drawer and pitched old stuff and need to do the same with the bathroom closet, too.
Sue, I’m so glad your DH is better. I was getting worried. 😀 I love snowmen, too!
Ann, your new book sounds fun! I like Janet Evanovitch.
Pam, phew you sure did have a busy day yesterday. So sorry about your “Lieutenant Dan” Lamb!! Hope you find another nearby. I was also appalled to hear about that careless nurse and your patient. So many elderly are not getting quality care. It’s awful. Banging her head? Good Grief. Thank goodness you showed up when you did. That nurse should be fired.
Off to do do some knitting. I’m loving my time off! Snow has stopped but freezing temps are back. I’m hibernating. ☃️❄️
