Pam, that makes me mad and sad to hear about your patient. No excuses for that. I know they can’t watch her every second but they could get her in a safe position when they aren’t with her. 😒 I hope she’ll be okay. Keep us posted. I’m off to bed! Work for sure tomorrow after a week off!

Good morning friends. Another cold day on tap. No snow or wind, so we'll take it. Today will be spent running the errands that have been put on hold. Also have a few neighbors that we will check in on that have not been doing well. Waving...........and will pop in later. Stay safe and warm

Good afternoon! The OLLI presentation was fascinating! The speaker, Randy Deaton, is an FBI agent who helped investigate the largest known folk art forgery ring. You can actually see one of his presentations here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=k04XxsbnUwc. (Note the youtube clips are about 45 minutes.) Clementine Hunter, the original artist, was a fascinating lady herself, having become a celebrated artist very late in life. I have seen many of her paintings at the Louisiana State Museum. One of the biggest clues to the forgeries was the amount of cat hair embedded in the suspected fakes. William and Beryl Toye, who did the forgeries, had 20-30 cats in their very messy home. We ended up coming home for lunch after a quick trip to a Tractor Supply which did not have a lamb ornament. I started laundry when I got home. Later in the afternoon, I headed a little north of here for a veteran pinning ceremony for one of our hospice patients as part of our We Honor Vets program. He served in Viet Nam and was very pleased. Also, we were able to convince his family to accept volunteer services, which they had previously declined. Later, I went to RCIA. Today, I am still working on the mountain of laundry. Last week, I did it early because of our little trip to the camp, so I had a bigger than normal batch. Also, with cooler weather, we have been wearing bulkier clothes which take longer to dry. I only have one load to go. I am trying to get up the gumption to do pre-Christmas decorating cleaning done, so I can start decorating. Since we had sloppy joes last night, dinner tonight will be tamales and rellenos. Breakfast was yogurt, fruit and seeds and lunch will be a turkey salad sandwich, carrots and fruit. I hope you are all having a great day!

Pam happy that you enjoyed the presentation. I shall watch that later on. Love all the links you send I hear you on the mountain of laundry. I did that over 2 days and yes, I do have more today...but that can wait! Where it all comes from, I'll never know. Your meal sounds great. Sorry they didn't have the lamb ornament at Tractor Supply. Glad that the family of the Viet Nam veteran is accepting services. WE ran all our errands. It was a mad house out there. I guess these past 2 days of the snow storm gave lots of people cabin fever and they were all strolling the same shops that we were in. Took us longer to navigate, but we were able to get all that we needed. Didn't bother to go to the bank, as the lot was too packed. Perhaps they were giving out samples LOL Taking miss LuLa for a walk and then I plan on getting jammified and reading a bit before supper. Tomorrow I go for a much needed cut and color. So looking forward to that. Take care, all.

Hey all,
i realized I never had a chance to pop in to drop a line or two today. Work was busy with about a week off for the holiday and the storm. I spent a frustratingly long time today on the phone with Amazon over a messup with our account due to fraudulent charges that caused the account to be blocked. It was quite the fiasco as our Chase amazon card did not have any fraud but instead it was on a Discover card that was not even associated with us or our account but somehow got tangled up with our Prime account. Scary stuff but it took three calls and about 3 hours to start to get it unblocked. IT will take about 48 hours to clear.
I went to lunch with work pals in the college cafeteria today for a special discounted luncheon for staff. I chose pretty well with a big salad and a half of a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich. Tonight we had Kosher National low fat all beef hot dogs and fruit smoothies! Easy peasey dinner for a long day.
Ann, enjoy your color and cut!
Pam, your talk sounded great. I’m fascinated by FBI stuff and the art fraud story is very interesting. I’ll watch the video a bit later! What kind of seeds do you have with your fruit? I’ve been adding flax seeds to my smoothies. I use frozen mangoes and peaches with some ice and peach nectar and the seeds. It’s an easy way to get my fruits and so yummy.
off to bed for me! I hope tomorrow is a day without customer service calls!!

Good morning all. Judy so sorry about your phone fiasco. It's so frustrating when things like that happen. It really shouldn't take that long to 'undo' but I guess it is what it is. I also hope that today will be customer service FREE.
Pam I enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
Sue we did have tomato soup and grilled cheese in your honor after snow storm #2 LOL. It was good and tasty.
Will CBL...nothing new to report on my end.

Hi all,
Nothing new to report except that this morning our Amazon Prime account was up and running. Good grief. They turned it into a mystery to figure out why it was locked with no explanation. Long complicated story, but I guess when the Discover card was mistakenly charged to my account, someone reported fraud and the Discover bank refused to pay amazon for fraudulent charges. Amazon locked my account - asking ME to pay the charges not knowing But the worst part was that they never contacted us in any way, but just froze the account and then customer service told us they couldn't access it to give us any reason because it was locked. It was crazy. Finally, though a series of emails, I could communicate with someone there. Talk about wasted time and headache causing phone calls - no less than 3 hours of that stuff. Sorry to vent. We've all been there, I know!
I am really looking forward to a dinner tonight with a group we call the Classics - people who have retired or are getting up there here at work. I'll see a bunch of fun former co-workers. They meet once a month but this one is the first one I have been able to attend. It's right in the college neighborhood after work. I'll eat wisely today! I have a Dave's Thin sliced Seeded sandwich with ham and Alpine Lace Swiss cheese.
We did not sleep well last night. Every time I nodded off, our little Daisy started "coughing and gagging". She was not getting sick but seemed to be struggling. I wondered if she had kennel cough after her last visit and stay at the kennel, but she gets the shots for that. So, at 2 AM, I gave up and brought both dogs downstairs and outside for a bit. I remember hearing long ago that some fresh chilly air helps the lungs sometimes. She was out for about 10 minutes and came in covered with snowballs again. But after that I just slept in the recliner until 7 AM and she and Doug joined me in their own chairs. She seemed much better today. These guys are our babies! I wanted DH to rest since he gets up at 5 AM. But, I've learned through the years that I can survive with very little sleep when I have to so I'll be okay. It's not the best feeling at all, but I'll make it and get a second wind.
I'm enjoying another smoothie now with peaches, bananas, flax seeds and a small container of dole snack peaches for sweetness mixed in the blender.
Pam, how is your patient? I've been thinking about her.
Have a great day!

Judy that classic dinner sounds fun. Enjoy. Always nice to see old friends. So very happy fur baby is doing better. I can so relate to that. My friend in Cali that lost her DH about a month ago had to put down both of her dogs 1 day apart. I can't even begin to imagine what that all feels like.
Also happy that Amazon business is straightened out.
My hair cut and color looks good. Nothing like good hair to lift your spirits.
My weight dropped 2.9 overnight!! Fluke? Probably lol. We'll see what my weight watcher weigh in has got to say at 4:30 tonite.

Back from weight watchers. I actually stayed for the meeting as Carl dropped me off and wanted to browse Ocean State Job Lot. I lost 2 of the 2.2 that I put on the week before last. I was quite pleased with that.
Can't believe how cold it is. I'm happy that I'm tucked in at home for the rest of the night.

Ann - WooHoo on the big loss! I guess I would make you jealous if I told you we had a sunny, 70 degree day today, so I won't do it. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Judy - Carrington Farms makes a flax & chia seed blend, but if I can't find that, I just buy flax seed and chia seeds and mix them myself. I haven't heard anything else on my patient, so I'm hoping all is well with her. It's sad, but you really need a sitter whether at home or in a nursing home if you require 24/7 care. That's one reason we have long term care insurance.
Sue - Waving!
Today was quite a day. I left early to get to DD1's house by 8:00 am so she could go to work while I sat with Abby for a couple of hours before her dental appointment. She had an abscessed tooth that needed to be removed after a week on antibiotics. It was quite infected and swollen by the time she mentioned it to her mom. Well, I got her to her appointment and they took her right back. Then, they came and asked for DD's phone number because the tooth right under the infected one was also infected and needed to be removed. Luckily, her 6 year molars will soon be there to fill in the gaps. Per doctor's orders, we stopped on the way home to get her a vanilla shake to eat with a spoon so she would have something on her stomach to be able to take the pain medication. We made it home and then, as she began to come off the anesthesia, all hell broke loose. She cried and couldn't settle down, going from room to room. I would cuddle with her on the couch and then she would jump up crying because it hurt. At one point, she said, "WHY did they have to pull 2 teeth?!?!? This is the WORST day of my life!!!" It made me want to cry. We tried ice packs, cuddling, more frozen ice cream, cold milk and back rubs. She would take a bite of the shake or a sip of milk and it would dribble down her chin because her lips and tongue were still deadened. I offered to put something on tv to help her stop thinking about it and she decided she wanted to play a board game, of all things. It did keep her distracted, but it was funny to watch her trying concentrate enough to play while still under anesthesia. Gradually, the meds wore off, DD1 came home with her Rx and a dose of the pain Rx helped. We played restaurant and Strawberry Shortcake doll house until Jude and Anna got home from school. Jude listened to her story very patiently, oohed and ahhed over her teeth in a little blue plastic box and told her the tooth fairy would probably be very generous under the circumstances. Such a good big brother! Anna was less enthusiastic, but I hugged her and told her to cut her little sister some slack tonight. We played 2 more rousing games of Lady Bug before I had to leave for yoga.
DH, bless his heart, had a salad bar ready for me when I got home--lettuce, cabbage, bell pepper, celery, radishes, carrots, cauliflower, onion, cucumbers, tomatoes, yellow squash, boiled egg, bacon bits, shredded cheese, ham and turkey. I had a big bowl with Bolthouse Cilantro Ranch dressing. If today's WI was any indication, tomorrow's official WI should be a nice loss.
Tomorrow, after Mass and quiet time at church, I will need to get dressed and go to BTR for my aunt's visitation and funeral. Only one of my dad's siblings remains now. We were not close, but I always liked her and her kids, so I will go and pay my respects, as they did for my parents.
I am jammified and will settle in with my book for a while before bedtime. Yoga relaxed me from the tensions of the day, so I am winding down fast.

Good morning all. LOL Pam 70 weather is just perfecto in my book. Here it's 25 with the real feel of 19! At least we don't have wind so I'll take it and just bundle up Sorry for Abby's tooth. OMG to having to have 2 pulled at once. That poor child. I am so happy that you were able to quiet her down with distractions. Keep us posted as to how she is doing today. Also keeping your patient in my prayers. Hope that no news is good news. So sorry for you loss. I bet the yoga really did relax you from your trying day. Today Carl goes off once again to grand jury duty. I will spend the day with Donna avoiding as much as possible talk about her mom. Her mom is very controlling when it comes to Donna and tries to run her life. Donna is 57 and really doesn't need all that supervision. Just listening to her talk about what she endures on a daily basis has opened my eyes up to Sheila (her mom) I felt in my gut that something was not quite right, but never said a word. She was in tears last night when talking to me. Today is going to be a long day. I shall listen and try to keep the conversation as upbeat as possible. Wish me luck! Waving and will CBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
TGIF!! I don't know how this week got away from me. I was able to peek in a few times to see how all of you were doing and ooh and aah and nod my head and say a quick prayer for you, etc. It is so good to know all is well with everyone, except for the normal life's hurdles.
Monday was the last time I posted when I got home from shopping. Good thing I got that done as the rest of the week was very busy. I grocery shopped on the way home Tuesday and by the time I put everything away, it was time to start supper. I knew I wouldn't be home early enough to start roasting the turkey breast, so I picked up a Stouffer's Meat Lovers Lasagna and popped it in the oven when I got home and DH made a gorgeous salad. The lasagna made four generous servings, so we have another supper in the fridge.
Wednesday I came home right from school and got the turkey breast in the oven. We had it with mashed potatoes, gravy, lima beans and corn. What a comfort food meal that was!! We loved every bite - AND we have enough leftover for another meal. After that I'll still have enough turkey to put aside to make a turkey pot pie. I got to spend some time that afternoon finishing up the wrapping and tagging all my Secret Santa gifts so they are ready to go. I have my school gifts ready to wrap (sack) and Christmas cards to write out.
Thursday I had a nail appointment after school - right on the way home, but had a time lapse, so I stopped in the Thrift Shoppe where I donate my stuff and found a cream bulky open cardigan sweater and a red/black plaid polar fleece top for lounging around the house - and used my 50% off coupon and got change from $4! Last night we had leftover Turkey 3-Bean Chili with a tossed salad for supper. I didn't get on the scale this morning, but my jeans are loosening, so I am thinking I am chipping away at the slight holiday gain.
Today we are going to MSU in East Lansing to take our college student out for supper (and dessert, she says). She graduates next Saturday on the 14th and then leaves to return home to Missouri for the next half year or so (at least). She is waiting to find out where she is accepted for her post-grad work in the Spring. It seems like this 3 1/2 years of having her so close just flew by!! We have enjoyed going to see her and her coming to see us, and enjoying dinners and movies together (making memories). Today we will pick her up and take her to the Outback Steakhouse for supper, then her boyfriend will join us after he gets off work. I am looking forward to a very good time.
We received some sad news yesterday regarding my DBIL. Yesterday was his birthday and when DH called him, he said he wasn't feeling very well, and we heard later in the day that he had gone to the ER at a local hospital and the last we heard last evening from his DD (who drove up there) was he was still in the ER (so not admitted yet). We are both considerably worried about him. He hasn't been up-to-snuff consistently since his open heart surgery in early November last year. Of course, a lot of that is due to not having a doctor, not following up appropriately, etc. We really are in charge of our own medical well-being - something I have convinced my DH of, so that he knows. But now he's getting to see it firsthand with his own brother. So sad ....
The rest of this weekend will probably fly by as well. We rescheduled my lunch with my VBF for tomorrow to breakfast time so she could keep her audiology appointment; which will free up my day and I will get a lot done. Then Sunday my Red Hat group is going to a Christmas High Tea in the midday - then DH and I are going to his VBF's restaurant Annual Christmas Party in the late afternoon. All of this is, of course, dependent upon what happens with his brother. Prayers will be appreciated.
I have started some laundry this morning and will get it done before we head to EL. Wishing you all a wonderful day!!
BBL. Make a great day!

Snowing here again. Sheesh.
Will try to pop in later. Short and sweet as I'm on my phone.
