Ginny, I'm glad you were able to notify your elderly neighbors' son! That is one of the miracle stories of your power outage!
I'm making a trip out to mail our property taxes. If I hadn't felt so miserable, there wouldn't be a special trip which I don't feel like making. They were late getting out this year. Nice whopping increase. We're at a crossroads here with some overbuilding of university housing, so I see a crunch in rentals ahead.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm sorry to hear about your partial power outage, but glad that you and your family are safe. Hope you get full power back on today. We've had transformers go out around my house and it is a very scary sound. I want to thank you and your DH for looking out for your neighbors - so many people don't do that these days and I'm sure the family appreciated it. Sue - Hope you were able to run your errand and get your property taxes mailed. Mine go up every year too! Phyl - I hope you can get everything ready and that you have a safe trip. Ruth - Hope you made some progress on the earwarmers and that they clear the streets in your area in case you need to go out. It's partly sunny here today with temps around 50, so not bad weather for December. I haven't gotten back to the quilting I was working on, that's pretty much the way it is for me with my crafting these days. I start something but don't have the desire to finish it. So I just enjoy when I do work on something. I have to go out one day this week to mail some bills and get money for all the Christmas gifts for family, and buy Christmas stamps. I'm already getting stressed thinking about all I need to do. I'm starting to get that feeling that I just don't want to send any cards or gifts to anyone and just can't wait for the holiday to be over. I'm going to make a list and I hope that will help me to see it all in writing and get it out of my head. I know I'll get it done but just don't want all the stress that comes with this holiday. Take care everyone!

CJ- making a list is a great way to destress!! Be sure to put some super easy to do items on the list, so that they are easy to cross off and help you feel like you are getting stuff done! You are! Stamps can be ordered online from the PO.....I know its a lot of work and we have less time this year with Thanksgiving being a bit late.
Got our power back at 3 and it looks like no damage was done. Our elderly neighbors are back too (I called their DIL to let them kno the electricity was back on).
Off to church....helping out with the kids tonight for Pioneer girls G

Hi all. I hope everyone had a good day. I can't believe it's so late already. I did a few things around the house including making a nice stew with pork tenderloin and lots of veggies. Then some corn muffins and blueberry muffins. I rearranged my yarn a little and did a tiny bit of crocheting. there are so many things I want to make that I don't know where to go next with my projects. I need to make one of those lists too CJ. As Ginny said it's a great idea and you can see what all you've accomplished that way. Ginny I'm so glad you got all your power back and I bet the neighbors were happy to be back to their own home. I hope you had a good time with the Pioneer Girls. I've never heard of those. I know my grandkids had two different Wed night groups in the churches they've attended but neither of them Pioneer that I've heard. Sue good to hear you got the taxes taken care of. Luckily I can pay them online which I do with all my bills. I wonder how long Phyl will be on her trip. I think I'm going to go make myself a cuppa tea and either read or crochet....or read about crocheting There is a series in cozy mysteries based on a crochet group. I really like the stories.

Good evening! Where is everyone???
Ruth, I would LOVE the name of the series of books that you are reading. I could use something calming like that right now. Sound like good stories. Hope you got that nice cuppa tea and was able to relax a bit.
Worked this am, then baby sat. I know it does not sound like much but was a very busy day. I have only one appliance that I have not yet tested out yet, and that is my oven. Hope to do that tomorrow and then can declare the power crisis over and done with. Think I need a 2 week vacation....but we all know that ainโt happening. So I guess a few days off, meaning this weekend will be fine for me. Still no word on my machine, the store opener said her husband was working a lot on his real job, and would get to finish my machine as soon as he could. Perhaps tomorrow am I can get the tree skirt done and then move on to starting the Bible cover.
Hope everyone is doing well. Ginny

The are very relaxing to just sit and read. No deep insights are needed. Just plain little stories that you can relax to. I hope your oven works and since everything else does it probably does too. I hope you're testing it by making something really good. And I hope you can get the tree skirt done. Did you find the regular foot in the accessories box? And not too much time left to Christmas. Today is already the 5th so only 20 more days...eek...less than three weeks.
I would say that I shoveled snow today but it was hard as a rock so it mostly consisted of breaking off chunks of very hard pached snow then throwing it out of the way. I was trying to make a path to get my truck our because even with 4 wheel drive it wouldn't have been able to get over that hill snow packed like concrete. Dh had started earlier so I think I got it wide enough. Now to back thru it tomorrow without ending up hitting the remaining part. We're going to do a little grocery shopping.
I also was able to get some things done in the house and a little crocheting but then I watched part of the football game and was playing a computer game at the same time so no crocheting was done during football but I'll do about an hours worth now before going to sleep.
Get a good rest everyone.

Ruth, thats one of the challenges of dealing with snow- its not a big deal when the snow is soft and fluffy, but iced over and hard is almost impossible to get through to get rid of. Was your path big enough to get the truck through??
Yes, found the regular accessories box, and will finish the tree skirt this am, I hope. Thanks for the list of books by Betty Hechtmann, I see my library has some, and when I finish the book I am reading I will go take one out. For me, I just like the feel of holding a real book and hate to buy them when I can get them at the library for free.
Got some errands to run today...then have to pick up DGD from school at the end of the day. BBL Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I hope your oven works alright. Congratulations on finishing the table runner, I'm sure it is beautiful. Hope you can get your list of things to do together - I still need to do mine Ruth - I hate snow when it's icy and hard like, it's so difficult to clear and shovel. Hope it will melt some so it's easier to work with. I'm glad you've been enjoying reading your books. I'm sure glad that I enjoy reading and have read so many wonderful books in my lifetime. I just finished one that I had bought last year and wasn't in the mood to read, I'm happy that I read it this year since it was a really good story about 3 sisters who come home for Christmas in Scotland. I went out yesterday to run a bunch of errands. I got Christmas stamps and mailing envelopes at the post office, money for Christmas gifts at the bank, a few groceries, my Norton Security for my computers since mine is expiring soon, gassed up the car and got lunch to bring home. Now I just have to go out on Sunday to Target since they have their gift cards on sale for 10% off. It's like getting free money. They only have this once a year and I bought them last year there too. I have some family that have school age children so I like to get the Target cards for them. Today my DB and DSIL and I went to the cemetery and put out the Christmas flowers so I was glad to have that done. Hopefully I can get everything ready next week so I can get to the post office and mail stuff. Then I can relax and maybe enjoy the holiday Take care everyone!

Ginny, congratulations on getting the tree skirt done. I saw a pattern for a beautiful one in crochet yesterday but it didn't have a side opening like all the others do so I guess you have to put it over the tree holder before putting the trunk of the tree through the hole in the middle.
CJ, That's a great buy at Target,, as you said it's like getting free money. I too have to make a list. I'm pretty good at making them but following them is another story. I also have to go to the post office but not to mail Christmas gifts...it's the birthday gifts I haven't mailed yet.
I'm going out on Monday to get my car registration. You can do it by mail here but I sent it in and ended up getting it back because I accidentally made the check our for too much. I transposed numbers. Guess I'm becoming dyslexic in my old age. Anyway while I'm there I get the registration renewed for the truck we're going to use to go to Indiana and we'll be gone when it's due so I'll get it early. Plus today we found that the current registration is not in the glovebox so I searched and searched and couldn't find it so hopefully the early renewal will work to use instead. Then I'll go across the street to the postoffice. Oh also have to go to the library to make yet more copies.Library is near there too.
Well it's official now. I am now a property owner in Indiana. We'll just go there for a couple months this year and next and in 2021(that is 2020 and 2021 because we're not going right away. It will prob be Feb), Lord willing, we will move there to stay.
Ginny, the oopening in the driveway wasn't quite wide enough so dh made it wider. I also prefer to have a real book in my hands but now since I don't like to go out I read online. Our library doesn't have a very good selection online though. I checked the requirements for getting a library card in Indiana but you have to show an INdiana driver's license which I won't have till we move there permanently.
Ok now it's crocheting for the rest of the evening.

Good morning! CJ- sounds like even with out a list you checked off most of the items on your list already. Hahaha. You had a very productive day indeed. Thanks for the reminder that I need to get my Christmas stamps also. I still have stamps leftover from DDโs wedding (when I bought a ton of stamps before the price increase) but like you, I like to use Christmas stamps on my cards. Were you able to get a good deal on your Norton Security? I figure that would be one of the good cyber deals this week. And yes, a good book is such a blessing- glad you got the time to read that book you just finished! Speaking of blessings, nice to hear that you had company putting the flowers out at the cemetery That is just not a job I would want to do alone and I am sure it was nice having the company of your DB and his wife. What a great idea to go to Target tomorrow and pick up those gift cards! I know that you give gift cards for most if not all of your Christmas gifts so you might as well save money doing so. The ONE gift card I want to pick up it seems you can only get at their store or online.....so I guess I am in for a trip to a Hobby Lobby soon.
Ruth, did you ever make that crocheted tree skirt for Ds and DDIl?. I remember you ordered the kit and then found that they used wool yarn for it, and decided (rightfully so) to use the wool yarn for something else and switch to red heart for the actual tree skirt. Its a smooth move to get your car registrations done..I had the same thing happen in the fall when I could not find the paper copy of the registration for our main car. Also knew we were going away for a week so I had to order another one from NY. Like you, it was not over due, I just could not locate the little certificate that you are supposed to keep. Sorry that Dh had to widen the opening for the driveway- that is a boatload of work when dealing with ice. And congrats on being a homeowner in Indiana!!! It does sound like a good exit plan- giving yourselves time to acclimate to the new location and see if you really like it. Just think of the cost savings of not having to mail all your homemade treasures to Ds and his family....because you will live much closer. Kind of stinks that you will need an IN drivers license for a library card....but you can always order your books from one of those used book dealers and get pretty good deals.Hope you can get your errands done and packages mailed before it gets too crazy out there.
Started getting setup to make the Bible cover last night. No cutting, just getting materials out and completing the calculation sheet used to cut each piece, based upon the size of the individual book.. Think I am going to make a pot of pea soup today....we had a ham the other day so I have the bone. Dh loves Pea soup....not a big fan myself. My friend, Dd#2 and I are attending the local craft fair. It used to be huge and absolutely wonderful.....in recent years its gotten smaller. Have not been there for several years, but will give it a try this morning. After that think Dd will be here to do her laundry.. She is easy to be with....love having her home again. Got a decision to make. My machine is not done yet, and I texted the store owner to let me know when it will be. Gonna sound nuts, but I really like the way my $400 singer sews instead of this $1200 machine. Yes some of it is what I am used to, but the singer seems to be a heavier machine and more steady on its feet. (Does that make sense?), There are some nice features of this machine but if I had to replace the singer I would upgrade to a much larger machine...and yes have to spend a lot more. I just cannot see spending this much for a machine that IMO is only marginally better than what I have. So anyway, I will cut out for the Bible cover and then decide if I really want to use this machine for the gift, being that I am not totally thrilled with its performance. Perhaps I will get good news today that my machine is done and the problem will be solved.
I am reading a biography on Princess Kate. I needed something mindless to read...this sure fits the bill. And she is not really very controversial- with what has been in the news recently with Prince Andrew I will probably avoid this kind of book altogether.
Ok, gotta go get that soup started. Have a great day all Ginny

Good morning everyone...still morning here in mountain time. It's been warmer the last couple days but horribly windy. That is it's horribly windy here but in town yesterday it was fairly calm. My home is wind central Ginny, yes I did get that tree skirt done and sent...was it last year or the year before...I'm not sure. They sent me a picture of it under their tree and it's beautiful too but this one looks like it's much easier to make.Yes I switched to RHSS to make it with and still have that yarn that was in the kit.I guess next year I'll get to see the tree skirt in use because we should be there at Christmas next year because we'll leave earlier in the fall next time. Ginny, buying a new sewing machine is a huge decision. I know you will pick one suited to you if it turns out that you need one. I'm sorry it's taking so long to get yours repaired. I hope that when you get it back it will work perfectly and you won't have to do all that decision making on what to replace it with. Talking about sewing machines makes me want to sew but also everytime I see a new crochet pattern it reminds me of all the things I want to make and it all becomes overwhelming as I mentioned the other day. I really need to do the finishing touches on the things I've already made but I keep saying that and taking little action to get that done. Enjoy the craft fair. I haven't been to one in a long time but when I do go it sure inspires me to make more things myself. Some of the young women on the FB crochet groups do craft fairs and they say these twist earwarmers go like hotcakes.

I'm just hanging out in the living room, feet up in the recliner, three dogs on the throw on my lap. A while ago a flock of waxwings attacked the juniper shrub/tree in front of the bay window. There must have been more than 150. Then something startled them, and they flew off.
Today is marginally better, but now hb is just getting sick. I still sound awful, and taking makes me start coughing.
I've decided to forget about decorations other than some candles and a wreath and the nativity scene. I'll enjoy other peoples lights. It's going to take a while for me to get back to feeling okay.
Ruth, did you find a house? When are you going? Will you stay until winter is over?

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Sue - I hope you and your DH are well soon. I also hope you enjoy the decorations you do put out. Ruth - I'm sorry you have so much wind where you live. Congratulations on the house purchase, I hope it turns out to be a good decision for you and your DH. I have to get my car registration too, I have time so I'm going to mail my request in. Ginny - I agree with you on the expensive machines not really being that much better than the less expensive ones. The costly ones are fine for the special features and if you are someone who uses them all the time or for a business. But I'm just as happy with my $200 Brother machine than I would be with some fancier I do hope that your machine gets fixed soon. It's cold and sunny here today. I have another migraine. It's not severe, but just doesn't seem to go completely away. So I'm not doing too much. I'll go out tomorrow to Target and get their gift cards that are on sale. Take care everyone!
