Hi Friends,
I don't often eat soup but am trying to change things up. Lunch is my most challenging meal. I know a lot of home made soups are delicious but I don't often make them or have them ready to go - any suggestions for canned or other soups that I can keep in the pantry and use sometimes. Good tasting, not loaded with sodium...maybe I am asking for too much?

I love the Trader Joe's Organic Tomato and Roasted Pepper soup and Organic Creamy tomato soup low sodium versions. Both contain only 140 mg. sodium which is very low for soup.

Trader Joe's also has lentil and split pea soup, both are in small individual serving boxes and before the change in programs they were only two points per box.
Costco has a vegetable and barley soup in the fresh food aisle, it is 2 points for 1 Cup, 3 for up to 1 7/8, 4 pts for 2 cups.
Not sure of the sodium content because I haven't used them lately.

The WW tracker database shows a lot of Progresso soups with (Greem) SmartPoints values from 1 to 6. Unfortunately, the tracker info doesn’t give sodium levels; you’d have to check the cans in the store. Progresso soups were a staple for many members in the days of PointPlus.
Campbell also makes a number of “Heart Healthy” soups which have reduced sodium and fat.
Finally, I **think** that Trader Joe’s makes some frozen soups. No idea about the NI and sodium, but you might look to see if they have any in the freezer case.

I love soup, but so much sodium in the canned stuff! I try to make a batch of something on the weekend and eat it all week.

Progresso also has many reduced sodium soups. I believe they have a green band around the top of the label. Even their reduced sodium soups have 450-480 mg. sodium per serving which is too high for my taste.

The easiest is just veggie soup! A jug of V8 (you can get lower sodium, I usually use the spicy), I chop up a head of green cabbage and throw in a bag of frozen veggies! EASY PEASY!
This past week I made hot & sour soup! Veggie stock (low fat/low sodium), tofu, bean sprouts, shredded carrots, mushrooms and I found a packet of hot & sour seasoning at the grocery store (Kroger). I added in some extra fresh grated ginger and a splash of low sodium soy sauce to boost the flavor.

I've got turkey noodle soup on the stove right now, made from the Thanksgiving carcass. It really should come off now but it smells so good I keep saying "oh, just a little bit longer."

I love soups...I made some easy soups this week in crockpot and stock pot
I use the rotisserie chicken they have at walmart or Sams and make chicken soup, add in chicken or veggie broth, onion, chicken, chopped collards or kale, let it simmer a bit, very tasty ( i also use them to make chicken noodle soup, chicken chili)
I made a heartier soup last week with just black and red beans, veggie broth, little brown rice, chopped onion, let it simmer, very tasty but it might be a bit higher in points if you counting points.
In the crockpot i made beef stew, beef, beef bone broth, chopped mushrooms, canned tomatoes, little tomato sauce, onion, bag of frozen veggies
Low carb chili, with ground chicken or turkey, ground sausage, onion, tomato sauce, tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, fresh garlic

I've got turkey noodle soup on the stove right now, made from the Thanksgiving carcass. It really should come off now but it smells so good I keep saying "oh, just a little bit longer.” My grandmother always made Turkey-Rice soup from the carcass; however I never liked it—probably because the broth was so weak. Since I roasted a turkey breast on Sunday, I threw the carcass into the Instant Pot and made my own (weak) broth; but when it was done I put it in a pot and simmered it with vegetables until it was reduced to a more full-bodied broth. Then, yesterday, I turned it into Turkey-Pasta-Vegetable soup which was good.

My grandmother always made Turkey-Rice soup from the carcass; however I never liked it—probably because the broth was so weak. I had 1/2 a container of turkey broth and a smidge of gravy that went into the soup to boost the flavor. There is sodium in broth, but it gets diffused in the homemade broth. Added celery, carrots, noodles and some turkey breast. Turned out pretty good.
