Good morning!
We had a fun evening last night. We were there early which put us at a table with a woman from the supervisory committee and her daughter, as well as a man from the supervisory committee and his son. The only one I knew was the woman and DH didn't know any of them, so I was worried it might be somewhat uncomfortable. But the opposite was true. The conversation was lively and interesting and the only lull was when our delicious food was served and everyone began to eat. The only downside is the scale is WAY up this morning and I have halves of two delicious desserts in the fridge besides half of my steak.
Today, I have to head west to Opelousas for another Triad meeting to give out Senior Medicare Patrol information and door prizes. My supervisor says this one is Christmas-themed and a lot of fun. But I know, once again, I will be faced with a big lunch plate. I will do my best to eat only a portion and bring the rest home.
It will be cool today with a high of 58, but the rain seems to have stopped. The drive home last night was not fun.
Have a great day and I'll BBL.

Pam happy you had a fun filled evening and I bet you are looking forward to the Triad meeting today. LOL to the big plate lunch! Is there any other kind these days I'm sure once the eating out is done, you'll get back to your normal routine and the scale will reflect that.
Take care, all

So true, Ann - are there any other kinds of lunches and dinners BUT big plate ones with dessert this time of year? lol Pam, your dinner and socialization sounds like a lot of fun. Sometimes the extra lb or so is worth it! Glad you and your DH enjoyed it. It's great when you wind up having a fantastic conversation with a stranger. Have fun at the Senior Medicare Patrol gathering, too. I love the name of your towns and I won't even attempt to spell it from memory. Op...something! :-) I think of Natchodoches! (sp?)
The meatloaf was delicious. I made it with old fashioned oatmeal and tomato sauce - a recipe I've been using for years and WW has one like it on the website. I made some mashed potatoes with chives and we had peas on the side. I love peas with mashed potatoes, and like Sue, I like the baby ones - either frozen or the LeSueur canned ones. These are the only canned veggies we use 'cept for beans of all kinds and corn sometimes. Now DH will have plenty of leftovers for his solo dinner while I attend another party at the home of a retired friend. It's an annual gathering of people from another local college I worked at for a few years! The Jesuit one, Ann! :-)
The roads were really fine today despite the snow last night. Just wet though cars were covered.
I've been busy in spare time tapping away in Amazon to get a few gifts for the DGKs to ship to NJ and CA. DGS in CA wanted a nice sturdy bigger tool bench and DGD in CA wanted a new "vanity" table and chair. :-) She also requested perfume. LOL Quite the little lady. I bought an art/craft clay kit for her and some books, a Connect game for both kids and an outfit from Hanna Anderson for each of them, too. DGS will be getting a couple books, clothes, a toy and his workbench. DD never wants us to overdo and I agree. They get enough and it gets overwhelming if kids get too much stuff. I already bought our new DGS in NJ a few things - little fun educational toys, books and an outfit and we gave him swim lessons. We got them all a Hallmark ornament, too. I am pretty much DONE except for the adult kids.
Ann, did you get your new TV? We did and it's assembled and great. We took the other one to the Cape.
Haven't seen Sue here lately. I hope all is well!! HI Sue!

Just got back from a very messy walk with LuLa. Sheesh...she had snow and mud all over her paws jacket and belly LOL. We call her our little 'mud turtle' as she loves to romp around in it. She surely puts a smile on the faces of many Yes Judy we do have our tv. It came via Amazon and Carl has it all hooked up. We just love it. At first we thought it was too big...but now it's like we've always had it. Funny how that happens LOL. LOL to your DGK's wanting perfume Too funny. My girlfriend that I worked with told me that her DGD is 9 and wants lipstick and blush LOL.......her mom said a tinted lip gloss will fit the bill just nicely. At that age, all I wanted was a coloring book with my trusty crayola crayons or play dough LOL. My how times have changed Your meatloaf sounds delish. I'll have to try that sometime. Also hope that Sue is simply busy and not sick. Horrible time to be under the weather. Time for me to leave for my day of pampering. Can't wait to get the royal hand and feet process done I so look forward to it.

Ann, it is funny how times have changed. Our little DGD loves her crayons and art mostly, but loves the play lipstick and stuff for her vanity. Ha ha. It's non-colored and fun. She's a girly girl, I think. All pink and purple. Of course, the apple doesn't far from the tree from her Mommy and Grammie. We both love lipstick and perfume, too. :-) Have fun getting glamorized for the royal toes and fingers. Love that treatment.
I, too, sure hope all is okay with Sue and that she is just super busy working and too tired to write. We're thinking of you, Sue!

LOL yes I do consider myself a 'girlie girl' as well. Won't leave the house without my lipstick and perfume Used to love wearing eye makeup but can't find one that doesn't bother my 'dry eyes'. Oh well..... I chose a real Christmas red and had Gladys add sparkles to it as I didn't care for the red that had the sparkles in it LOL. I have the same color on my toes and she put the sparkles on both big toes Not that anyone will see them but me and Carl, but it's okay Yes Sue...praying that all is well with you and DH. Time to relax.

I'll pick up a veggie platter at Hannaford's market and put 'blinders on' with the other snacks that she will have LOL. Should be a fun time. These are the new neighbors that we spent Thanksgiving with. Waving and wishing all a wonderful OP day. It's cold here...real feel is 19 with the temperature holding at 26! Grateful that they are in the double digits Sue hope all is well with you and DH.

Good Morning all!
I slept a full 8 hours and woke refreshed before the alarm went off. I am trying to get on an even, full sleeping schedule as I know this will help protect me during this season of colds, flu, etc. When I get over-tired and stressed is when I tend to get sick.
The Triad I attended was HUGE. The estimated crowd was 300-350, but I had to take a detour on my route there because of road construction and got there a little late, so only gave out 200 brochures, each with a small gift of an eyeglass cleaner, refrigerator magnet or ink pen. There was music, a Christmas costume contest and a twist contest. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves very much. Lunch was a huge bbq pork steak, rice dressing and baked beans. I ate 1/2 of the rice, about 1/3 of the pork and all the beans. I stopped at Lowe's on the way home and picked up a gift card for DSIL for Christmas. He loves outdoor decorations and will then be able to pick out whatever he wants to add to his collection at half price after Christmas. He never is able to come up with items for his wish list and is notoriously difficult to buy for. When I got home, DH was getting ready to wrap Christmas presents, so I helped with that a little and then took a short nap in my chair. I had choir practice so he also cooked a delicious dinner of pork cutlets (I had my fill of pork!), green beans and a butternut squash, apple & cranberry concoction that was delicious!
DH got a text from his "adoptive" sister, who lives in the San Antonio area, and she may be coming for Christmas. I had put a note in her Christmas card, reminding her that she is always welcome here, but especially at Christmas time. Her family lived next door to DH and her parents "adopted" his when his parents died during his college years. They were wonderful grandparents to our DDs and the best in-laws I could ever have had. Donna has acreage in the greater San Antonio area where she hoards "stuff" and animals. As she has aged, her hoarding tendencies have grown. When we visit, we stay in a hotel. I know that hoarding is a psychological thing, but it is so hard to see in real life. The last time we visited, she had 5 horses, 36 dogs, most of whom live in pens and an unknown number of cats. She spends a small fortune on food and vet bills on a school teacher's retirement. This situation is not something we can change, so we just love her and let her know we are here for her.
Today, our new pest control company is coming to address the critter who seems to have returned to our attic and do the termite treatment that should have been done 3 years ago, that the previous pest control owner let lapse. After lunch, I am supposed to do a long hospice visit so the DIL who is the caregiver can have some respite and maybe get some shopping done. The patient was not doing well this week, so I am not sure she will leave him. I will call a little later to make sure. Tonight is my favorite yoga class.
I hope you all are doing okay and have a wonderful day.

Hi all,
Ann, I am bundled up in my new puffy full length Eddie Bauer coat today as it is so cold! The sunshine is so pretty on the glittering snow & I do love the four seasons so not complaining too much. It beats foggy, rainy and gloomy.
I have a doctor's appointment in about a half hour so I will be heading out soon. I am seeing a specialist and hope we can solve an ongoing issue. Ugh. I might email you about it. It's not serious, just annoying.
Ann, your nails sound so great. I love sparkles! No one sees my toes either, but I think we do this for ourselves anyhow - it just looks and feels better to be "well groomed" and a bit dressier! Count me in on being the lipstick/perfume out the door girl, too! In fact, I have decided to wear red lipstick for all of the December! :-) Perks me up.
I went to another very fun and festive party last night. The host decorates her wonderful home so beautifully - every room done up gorgeously. She is a retired, single woman and bought a large 5 bedroom home when she retired. The opposite of many people who downsize, but she loves to entertain and now has a swimming pool, tennis courts, a handball court and a lot of land. It's like being in a resort/paradise in the summer! We all chipped in a bit of $$ and she catered dinner last night and then we did a Yankee Swap with inexpensive gifts. Lots of fun. Tonight I have another holiday dinner with three close friends at another Italian place in Millbury, Ann. Calabria Restaurant. Tomorrow night is my boss's annual party for staff from 3-5! Tis the Season!
My nephew and his boyfriend arrive on Saturday at the Cape. I'll drive them to the airport on Sunday very early and they will find their own way down to the Cape from Boston on Saturday. They asked if we would pick them up, but it's a big ask since DH is there every single weekday and it's not an easy drive on Saturday so they happily agreed to Uber. They are "big" boys and can find a way down.
Pam, great idea on the gift card for your DSIL. My kids do that for my DH. He is, unlike Sue's agreeable DH, nearly impossible to buy for. LOL He has great qualities but seems to want nothing. So, Home Depot/Lowe's cards are perfect for him. Your gathering sounded like fun yesterday. Wow, that was a ton of people. I love roast pork so I'd happily have two meals in a row of it! I hope you get rid of the critter. I heard a mouse or something last night so guess we need to investigate, too. Aren't you and your DH generous to have his "sister" from TX for Christmas! I remember you telling me about her hoarding before. Like you said, there is not much you can do. Wow, that is a lot of animals. She must have a big heart, but it's hard to fathom. I think hoarding is a sickness. We have a relative who has 4 mini storage units filled. Her house is immaculate, but she can't seem to empty out the units. It is costly and there is probably no use for all the stuff there. Oh well, it's the same as you said. Nothing to be done by her kids or anyone else.
Off to the docs. Take care. Sue, thinking of you!

Popping back in again. Pam I so agree that getting quality sleep wards off the 'nasties' that this time of the year bring on! Sounds like you managed well at the Triad with the food and happy you had such a wonderful time. You are wise to realize that you can't change people....just accept them for what they are. I guess she takes hording to a new level. Wishing you good luck on your pest control issue. Judy keeping you in my prayers re: your doctor visit. Happy that you are all bundled up. Carl took LuLa out early this a.m. She did her 'business' in record time and is now on the sectional under her blankie Happy as a lark and toasty warm. The coat we got her does help....but she won't wear boots! Not sure of any canine that likes them. Luigi bit them off and took a piece out of the toe area LOL. Sounds like you party was festive indeed That's a big house for one person. Then again, we are all different. LOL to downsizing! I also don't blame DH for not wanting to travel on a Saturday. Uber works Looking forward to getting together with our neighbors tonight Take care Sue you are missed!

Judy - Your holiday party schedule is amazing! Your friend's house sounds beautiful and very much like a resort. I'll bet she doesn't have to hunt to find friends who want to visit regularly, lol. Enjoy your nephew's visit. Doesn't it make you feel good that the younger generation wants to spend quality time with you and DH?
Ann - Lula is smart not to spend any more time than is necessary to do her cold weather business, especially if she refuses to wear booties. I have heard the snow, ice and salt is hard on pets' feet.
Speaking of pest control, DD1 called me in tears this morning. She discovered live bugs in her huge, beautifully decorated Christmas tree, purchased at a Home Depot. She is un-decorating as we speak and DSIL is on his way home to remove the tree from the house and burn it. An emergency call to pest control has been made and Home Depot will be notified once pest control confirms exactly what type of bug infestation it is. This has just about pushed her over the edge. At work, she has been drafted as the "IT" person to handle a recent crisis. Apparently, their software provider, through whom all the hospice and home health visits, documentation and billing are done, was hacked by ransom ware and had to be shut down a few weeks ago. It has been a nightmare, which her boss, the administrator, has pretty much ignored leaving her to deal with all the uproar. Her real job, as social worker, has been pushed to the side and she is way behind in that. Add to that, Abby's dental woes and holiday shopping for 3 kids and she is about to the breaking point. Please say a prayer for her.

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
Sorry for being MIA this week. We have been so busy besides it being a busy time of year. One day I had to grocery shop on the way home, and one day I had to go to Kohl's and pick up an item I had ordered; and it seemed the other days I got home and DH was here and we started doing this and that. I did finish up his Christmas shopping and now am ready to wrap when the last two arrive (today and tomorrow). I ended up cancelling the one I ordered on Amazon that probably wasn't going to arrive before Christmas.
Nonetheless, I did not mean to worry anyone. Every day I thought to myself that the next time I sat down at the computer, I'd write a note to you all, then the time just got away from me!! Besides, my DBIL is still in the hospital. He is the one who asks no questions, listens to nothing he is told, so we got information but nothing to tell us (1) why he is in the hospital (2) why they're doing what they do or (3) what the expected outcome is. I do believe that he received a pacemaker today but he has no idea why, so neither do we. It is all very frustrating!! Plus their sister who lives out-of-town is worried and calling us frequently. Wish I could offer her more, but I don't know any more either. I talked to DBIL yesterday and got absolutely nothing.
I am happy to report that I am not sick; and DH is not sick; and life at our house is pretty doggoned good!! We had a full weekend on the last weekend and this one promises to be the same. We are able to space our commitments out so that we don't overdo. Last night we went to DH's VBF's house and played with the Boxer contingent. The younger female is expecting in just a couple of weeks so we'll have new puppies to play with.
Judy ~ I have been enjoying my down filled coat as well. Our temps the past two days were too cold to take the kiddos outside and the nights are unbelievable!!
Ann ~ I also have red nails (since last Thursday) with a white diagonal stripe and one-half with sparkles. It makes me feel very girly indeed!
Pam ~ We have also had experiences where when seated with strangers we found the most entertaining conversation and took away such happy memories.
Tomorrow is our 28th wedding anniversary and we are looking forward to a special dinner most likely at Black Rock which is a unique steakhouse. My other choice would be Longhorn Steakhouse which is reputed to have the best prime rib around this area. But we'll decide tomorrow.
Saturday we have to drive an hour to attend a Retrouvaille Christmas Party in the evening. Then Sunday we are meeting the couple we mentor in Retrouvaille for brunch at a new (to us) place. Next week we will have our Secret Santa all week at school topped with a Staff Christmas Breakfast on Friday morning.
Tonight we are having leftover turkey dinner. Everything is in the fridge so I'm going to just make up 2 plates and reheat them and call it a day. We also have 2 slices of Crustless Pumpkin Pie that we'll have for dessert.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue so happy to hear from you. Thrilled you and DH are not sick. I can't begin to think about the frustration you and DH are going through with your DBIL. Keeping him and all involved in my thoughts and prayers. Happy Anniversary Enjoy your meal out wherever you decide to go. Will CBL

Hooray for Sue- you ARE okay. I'm a worrywart sometimes and glad you are doing well and just busy, busy! Good to read your catch up news. Sorry about your stubborn, non questioner DBIL. That is frustrating because it is HIS health and his life. Well, I guess you can't do much because you sure can't change him now. You have a busy holiday schedule, too. Guess we all do!
Have fun at the Retrouville events and dinner with the couple you sponsor this weekend. I have a Yankee swap again next week at a work party. DH was my personal shopper at BJs. He picked up a few big boxes of beautiful Belgian chocolates and truffles and some smaller fancy chocolates for me to give a few others at work. Those were my gift last night and again next week. I don't want to collect a bunch more chotskies and decorations and some of my friends are in the same boat. If we can't consume it - lol - or use it up like bath lotion, gift cards, etc., we don't want it. Ha! You know what I mean when it comes to that stuff at these parties. So lotion, wine, candles, bath soaps, fancy food, etc. work well. People fought over the chocolates so it seemed to work. As long as I get them out of the house, it'll be good! I bought my boss a fancy bottle of Scotch - his favorite. I guess I am not too imaginative, but it works.
Pam, yes, DH and I are both so pleased that my DN and friend want to spend time with us! They could stay in Boston and have fun in the city. If it was not 1.5 hours each way from the Cape, we'd get them, but poor DH is in Boston every single day and it would be a lot. I do have pangs of guilt but they are 34 year old men so they're fine. I am especially pleased that they just want to hang out and relax. How lucky are we! I will bring them back at 6 AM on Sunday to Logan Airport in Boston.
My doctor's appointment with the specialist went well but I have more testing and a follow up next week. It wasn't fun but it was necessary. More to come.
Pam, my retired friend does have a big summer party, too. She is very generous to host these big gatherings. Summer is really fun since her grounds are just beautiful. Your poor DD with the bugs in the tree. I feel so badly for her!!! That is so much to handle with little kids, work stress, etc. Home Depot better give her a gorgeous artificial tree in exchange! I love real trees and we always had them until two years ago. I bought a tiny artificial one and I won't go back. So easy. I saw a news segment about the differences and actually both are about equal in environmental impact if that matters to her. People keep their fake trees a long time and then they usually GIVE them away rather than toss them. Just food for thought. Poor kiddo- that is awful. Up here the bugs are all dead by now at the tree farms - one consolation.
Ann, have fun tonight at your friends!
