Seeing as I'm still on my desktop, I thought I'd jump start us for the week. Tomorrow I was supposed to go to my oncologist, but she has another emergency appointment so they rescheduled me for January. Actually I'm fine with it, as it gives me more 'me time' LOL. I already have two doctor appointment this month so I really do embrace the break Sleep well and talk in the am.

Hi again,
I’ll be signing off for bed in a minute but wanted to give you another update on DD in CA. She didn’t want to tell me because of the scare but they called a code for septic shock on Friday night after she was admitted. She was in very serious trouble and when she woke, she had six or seven Stanford University doctors hovering over her. Very very very scary. We are so relieved she is okay now pending further testing. We’ll be glad to get out there soon.
Pam, we are still working on plans and meeting with the architect and builder regarding the house. We do want to tear down and rebuild because of our great location and attachment to the property . It’s a process though and we’ll have to see where the budget lands in relation to cost. We love the design/build company we are working with and the people are great and have a wonderful reputation.
Off to bed. I’m beat. I have a crazy week with all the dinners and parties every single night but Tuesday. Fun but a lot at once like it is for everyone this time of year. Then my NC nephew and his boyfriend arrive for a weekend visit with us at the Cape. We love having them with us. They are fun, relaxing and easy! I have a doctors appt tomorrow and on Thursday for two different issues- different specialties. Nothing major!
Night all. Thanks for your prayers for our precious DD.

Good morning all. Woke up to warmer temps and rain. Will plan activities around that.
(((((((((Judy)))))))))) Thanks for the update. Keeping DD in my prayers. Good luck with your doctor appointments also. Happy that your NC nephew and friend are coming for a visit. Sometimes a distraction is a good thing.
Wishing AWF a wonderful OP Monday. Will CBL

Good Morning all!
I am feeling quite chipper after about 9 hours of sleep last night. My one day in quite a while to not have to wake up to an alarm and I woke at 7:15 and had to go to the bathroom. I got back in bed just to savor not having to get up and go anywhere. DH woke me at 8:40 wanting to know if I was going to sleep all day, lol. It just goes to show how very tired I was.
DH has gone off to help the men at church with some project. I am doing laundry and catching up on my Advent reading and various other little chores that require email, texting, etc. I think what I needed to do re: Christmas caroling at our Cultural District event on Saturday is done.
My flighty yoga instructor texted last night that she has reached a tentative agreement with the health club owner and the cost will increase from $12 per class to $15 per class. I told her to let me know if/when the OLLI classes start. I won't be going back unless that happens. I think $15 for a 45 minute class is just too much when I have already paid the $50 OLLI registration+$70 yoga class fee. I will continue with the other (better) 60 minute classes at the cost of whatever donation I wish to make (usually $12/class or $65/mo.). If the OLLI class doesn't happen, my $70 course fee will be refunded.
Yesterday, Abby came to help me decorate for Christmas. She hung the stockings, put up the nativity scene, helped with the few outdoor decorations we do and hung quite a few of the tree ornaments before she decided that was enough decorating. She played on the iPad while I finished up and then I took her home.
DH and I enjoyed the Mass, native dancers and wonderful Mexican food last night. I ate way too much and was uncomfortable after we got home. Oh well, it was worth it. The tamales and Spanish rice were my favorites. There was a large crowd and it was especially nice to see all the families attending Mass together. We sat across from some folks we didn't know but enjoyed chatting during dinner.
I got all the Christmas boxes stashed away until after Christmas and will do some other general cleaning. Not much else on the agenda, other than reviewing my credit union packet so we can vote on a consent agenda at the Christmas party tomorrow night. It is held at Ruth's Chris restaurant in BTR, so is quite a treat, even with a limited menu. It will definitely behoove me to get in some walking this week.
Sue - Your high tea sounded delightfully fun! I am glad you and DH got to spend some time with DBIL, in case things don't improve for him. I'm still holding him and DNeph in prayer each day.
Judy - When you said DD had a ruptured cyst, my first thought was sepsis. I am SO glad she is doing better. Enjoy all the festivities. It makes things very difficult program-wise, but with careful choices, you can avoid total disaster. I definitely feel your angst, as my scale is creeping upwards the past couple days, surely in response to Christmas parties.
Ann - Sue's choice of Cuddleduds is a good one. Those things are quite cosy. I have a camisole and leggings I wear on our coldest days or if I go to DD3's in winter months. I had to laugh at your "heat wave" of 26.
Have a great day, all!

Pam that is a lot of extra $ for the class. Hopefully it will all work out. I do have cuddle duds and they come in handy when the weather dips way down low. Bet you feel rejuvenated after your sleep. Lol to DH waking you up Our temp is now in the 40's but it's pouring. I showered did laundry and already jammified. I did some baking and it's already cooled and frozen lol. Safer that way. Christmas music still playing and the tree is lit. Feels good to have a laid back day. So grateful my oncologist had to reschedule my appt. Not a fan of traveling in rain. Enjoy all

Hi all,
Pam, hearing about your homemade tamales makes me miss AZ so much. I remember at the holiday times, Mexican colleagues would bring them in to work for our party. They were just the BEST. Haven't had anything like that since. I did not realize you have a large Mexican population in LA. On our DD, the doctors all say that the septic shock was caused from the ileum and not the ruptured ovarian cyst. I thought exactly as you did because that made sense to me. Our bodies are amazing overall but when things go downhill they can deteriorate very fast. The sepsis was close to affecting her major organs. I shudder to think but glad she is recuperating now.
It is a miserable day today - raw (about 45 degrees) and rainy and foggy. I would rather have a colder, snowy day. The roads are flooded already. I had to go to the hospital for my dr appointment and the parking garage was backed up for 20 minutes just to get in since the road was so clogged. My visit was good and I have some follow up soon so worth the hassle of going out in this stuff.
I have the first of my week's worth of parties - LOL - tonight. It's at a great Italian restaurant. Hmmm, I am going to look for a nice fish dish with lots of veggies and stay away from all the pasta. I am trying to stay on track.
Glad you had good night's rest Pam. I keep waking up at about 3:30 thinking it's morning time! I do doze back off but it's been hard. Lots on my mind, I guess.
Ann, I envy your jammified relaxation wardrobe today. It is a great day for it. I love Cuddle Duds, too, and I even have their fleece PJs. I also have the Muk-Luk Canadian socks and fleece jammies, too. Love those, too! My DDIL's Canadian relatives are the "suppliers" though I guess they are on QVC, too. Figures!
Have a good day and I am feeling much better now that DD is okay. TTFN.

Judy I'm with you. I'd rather snow than rain. Today was the absolute pits. I did keep busy baking and such. Yes I nibbled but not too badly. Good luck at the Italian restaurant. Wish I liked fish lol. Back to my kindle. Had to stop reading An Affair To Dismember as a library book I had on hold became available. I'm loling along with Lisa Scottolini's Why My Third Husband Will Be A Dog. Light and fun read.

Hi all,
The day started out sunnier and nicer but is now cloudy again. Better than the foggy, rainy day and night we had yesterday. Today is downright balmy at nearly 60 degrees. More like April than December.
I started the day off at my WW meeting at 7:30 AM and am down a lb. Yippee considering my consumption lately. I have been trying to avoid tons of carbs and that helps. Last night was so much fun with my book club pals at a nice Italian restaurant. I chose Chicken Piccata with pasta on the side (which I took home to my DH). I did have an Old Fashioned drink and then someone brought out cupcakes from a great local Italian bakery (Gerardo's) so I splurged on a lemon one. I enjoyed it and it was worth every bite.
Ann, An Affair to Dismember sounds hilarious! I'll look it up. Do you ever read the "Goldie" books - offbeat mysteries and funny about a caterer in Colorado? I have one now in my Kindle called Fatally Flaky by Diane Mott Davidson. They are a fun escape. I am wrapped up in Maybe You Should Talk to Someone for our next book club selection. I suggested it based on a great review by my DSIL. It is funny and insightful and true - about a psychotherapist's own therapy and also her own patients. Fun and hard to put down.
Enjoy the day and I'll BBS. Can you believe this is my second writing of this post? I forgot to hit send the first time!! Senior moment.

Judy same weather deal here. It's cloudy and foggy in my neck of the woods. I was going to run errands with Carl, but decided against it. I took a nice hot shower, I'm once again 'jammified' and after posting going to join LuLa on the sectional and read a bit with Christmas music playing. I have read some of those books, Judy....but more than likely out of order LOL. Love Gerado's bakery and glad you enjoyed each and every bite of the cupcake Going to relax....talk tomorrow if I don't pop back in later.

Ann, it's a great day to be jammified and "hunkered down" to relax as now the weather has turned rainy and foggy again - not too cold but I hear that more bad weather is coming tonight just in time for tomorrow morning's commute. Lovely.:-(
Just finished a California Sushi lunch in the cafeteria. Loved it and will ease up on eating at dinner as Sushi is fairly pointy despite seeming so healthy.

Hello all! It's a cool dreary day with off and on rain. It was 58 when I left home this morning to attend IDT, but has steadily dropped to 48 now. I left IDT early to meet the marketer at the public library meeting room where we gave a presentation on hospice services to a group of bus drivers. Afterwards, I stopped in to see my little lady patient. She was still in bed, but determined to "get up and go to work". I gently reminded her that she is no longer capable of getting up by herself and offered to get the CNA to assist. She thanked me, but thought she could do it, which is impossible. I remarked how it is hard to ask for help when you are used to doing things on your own and asked if she found it frustrating. I quoted, "The mind is willing, but the flesh is weak" and told her this is where she is in life right now, but thankfully, help is available and left to get the CNA. I don't think she will be able to get up into a chair much longer. She is one hard-headed lady, though, and will continue to try. After writing up my visit notes, I headed home and helped DH get Christmas packages ready to mail. For lunch, I had half a ham sandwich, a salad and a satsuma orange from our tree. They are really sweet and plentiful this year. Dinner will be our credit union Christmas party at Ruth's Chris. I plan to enjoy it within reason. As my holiday eating has continued, the scale is creeping back up. The weather is supposed to worsen, which will make the drive to BTR and back a pain. I am hoping to get a short nap in, so I won't be over-tired when driving home on a full stomach. DH's night vision is poor, so the task usually falls to me. Judy - Your DD surely had a double-whammy of illness. I am glad she is recovering. Ann - Sounds like you have the perfect afternoon planned! Sue - Waving!

Pam, have fun tonight! We are getting a new Ruth's Chris steakhouse in our town here soon. There's one in Boston but not closer. We are all happy! I am thinking about your little lady determined to go to work. She sounded like a firecracker and hard working. Sad that she can't do what she wants anymore. And I am very envious of your Satsuma Oranges. I love them! They are hard to find here.
I am off to the grocery store for a few ingredients to make a meatloaf for dinner. Night night!
