Happy Tuesday, all. Kathy I hope you had a nice bday!
When I woke up our temperature was -1.3!!!! I'm hoping that it warms up in a hurry. Mr. L is NOT going to be a happy camper going out in this. Nor will I!
Today we'll drop off more goodies to a few of our neighbors and then we'll be done with that. Other than that, not sure what's on our agenda.
Stay warm and I'll CBL

Hey Ann...thank you, it was lovely, and we got so much done. Tomorrow the packers come, so today is the final big push!
I am seriously pooped today and would like nothing more than to read all the posts and comment, but it is not meant to be.
But, sending good and peaceful vibes to all!

And I thought we were cold this morning, Ann. Poor Luigi! Will he let you put a coat and booties on him? Little Teddy does like it, even when it is freezing outside. Hope the ginger tea worked.
Kathy, I hope you had a nice birthday 🎉 . Did you get your clothes rack together?
Sue, we have been having similar weather to yours with more ice than snow. I saw today's weather map and we are now below the snow line with a significant warm coming. No snow for us for Christmas. I hope you didn't have an outside recess yesterday. How was dinner?
Act, colorful language is a necessity when dealing with tech issues.
Judy, how was the cookie swap? Did you get any good ones or are they bird food?My birthday was December 4. Iggy has recovered and is now planning the next trip which is an overseas trip with the VPs. Since he is the event coordinator it ought to be loads of fun for him. 35 hours at the airport? Ugh! I am glad my corporate traveling days are over.
Kathryn, I am surprised you even have the gear for cold weather. Oh, that's right you go hiking in Colorado, so you would have it. How was the chili? I made a five alarm chili and Iggy's poor bald head was beading up. He loved it! 😋
Today is is a pretty quiet day. I am enjoying the sunshine immensely. The warm front hasn't hit yet. The temps are still in the teens, but I don't mind. I am all set for Christmas so I need to look at my project lost and pick some thing productive to do or maybe I will just be lazy. I haven't decided.

Kathy wonderful bday picture. So happy you are on the last leg of the move. Never pleasant to do. HOpe you can get a nap in to help you along.
Chele, unfortunately Luigi will NOT wear the booties. I've tried several different types. He will wear a coat which does help. Today he did his 'business' VERY quickly...Carl was happy about that. I sat that 'trip' out LOL. Just call me a wimp! I vote for the lazy day!
Act I keep forgetting to tell you how much I LOVE your avatar! Stay warm.
It's now up to 6.7! Should it reach the 'double digits' I think I'll sun myself LOL.
later!

Good Morning, WW Friends ~ Another cold one - actually thought at 17 it was a warm up until I noticed the RF is only 3. That sounds like another indoor recess Good for us, but hard on the kids (who need to run & play). Ann ~ Thanks for opening up the Cafe this morning. Stay warm!! Kathy ~ Glad your move is almost imminent and soon it will be over. You sound tired. Take care YOU! Love, love, love your birthday picture! Chele ~ We did stay indoors yesterday. We combined two Kindergarten classes for coverage (we have a couple of Noon Aides out on sick leave) and I had a double class, so "no rest for the weary"..... LOL Would love to stay and chat but duty calls and it is time for me to leave for school. Afterward I'm meeting one of my nieces for lunch and if I have any energy left over I may do some Christmas shopping since Kohl's is near our lunch destination. But we will have to see. I may wait until Thursday and Friday when I'm off school anyway. BBL. Make a great day!!

Good Morning:
Ann: So good to see you but Brrrrrrrr!!!!! Bundle up when you’re out being Santa and delivering. Or actually you’re more of an adorable Elf. And for sure Luigi will feel the chill. Does he wear a little jacket? I saw dogs out with jackets during our cold spell…Just saw your later post. Nice that Luigi will at least wear a jacket, if not booties. LOL on sunning yourself. Bikini weather for sure.
(((Kathy))) Happy day after BDay. Love your picture. Doesn’t Leia have a hat sort of like that. Did she loan it to you? I can’t imagine moving this time of year! You’re a strong woman. I am hoping all goes as smoothly as possible as you come down to the last act here.
Chele: Iggy’s trip does not sound fun to me either. Ick! LOL on 5 alarm chili. My DH also has a bald top and spicy food makes him sweat. It is funny. But he loves it! (Not the baldness. or the sweating. but the spicy food…) How nice that you and Kathy share a birthday month!
Act: Brrr for you too! LOL on technology stress. We need to uninstall and reinstall a back up system here. We keep putting it off…I’ll remember not to have children about when we do.
Sue: So glad you can recess inside. I was surprised that you have school. Our school vacations started yesterday. But all area schools had Thurs and Fri off because of ice/snow. Stay warm.
Kathryn: I hear you on cold face. We had very high wind and temps in the teens for a couple of days. I got some serious wind burn on my face. Bet you wore your LLBean lined pants!
Judy: I made cookies yesterday for the first time in years and years. I have a gluten free recipe from Penzey’s that I made for DS who has Celiac. I drew his name for Christmas. Baking was a very serious problem for me back in the day. I found that I’m in a better place now, however, I don’t want to do much future baking. It’s too tempting for me. If I went to a cookie swap I’d have to be a giver but not a taker. I hope you can get some rest soon. I’ll likely start Sally Mann next. You have me good and excited about it. I’m reading Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things. It’s compelling but disturbing too.

I didn't get here yesterday. But, hey!, made it today. I'm watching 2 hummingbirds. They are opposite sides of the feeder and not chasing each other away. They are a silhouette against the sky so can't see their color. Our cold spell ended yesterday and the temp rose quickly. Lots of rain has melted all the ice and snow. We may get to a balmy 50 today. I was so happy to see the rain. I don't like icy streets and sidewalks. In the cold and wind, the hummingbirds didn't land on the feeder and seemed to be eating frantically--to stay alive I'm sure--so nice to see them relaxing, perching and taking a good long drink. They are tiny but tough! It was good to get back to the gym yesterday. My legs feel used yet today. I forgot to say ann1953 that Sunday was icy outside and we had been gone most of the day. I didn't want to try walking outdoors in the dark for fear of falling. So I got some steps inside like you! The downside was that I somehow tweaked my knee. But I continued without any side to side motion, settling on speed walking up and down our short hallway and that worked well. 6 steps one way, careful pivot, and 6 back! LOL. Anyway I was inspired by and thought of you. Today's exercise will be a walk in the good old rain. No complaints here. We finished out shopping yesterday. Today I hope do do some work in the house, with a focus on getting more "Stuff" out the door or ready to donate anyway.

Ann, brrrrrr, that’s cold!
Kathy, so glad you had a great birthday – love the pic! Hope you’ll soon be able to get some rest.
Chele, you’re right our warm weather clothes from all our mountain hiking in New Mexico and Colorado. Whoa – 5 alarm chili! Mine is only 2 alarm chili, and we loved it – heated us all up!
ACT, after reading everyone’s cold temps, I’m not complaining about our 17 degrees!
Sue, enjoy your lunch with your niece – sounds fun!
Carolyn, yes on the lined LL Beans pants – best purchased I ever made.
It’s been a sad day for us. A friend of mine who was the Special Education director in our district for years recently retired at age 64 to spend time with her kids and grandkids and to have time to travel. She took a terrible fall down her stairs in her condo and hit her head. She passed away this morning. We are all just in shock – so vibrant and so excited about spending her time with family. It makes me appreciate even more each day as a gift.

Hi girls. Just thought I'd pop back in before shutting down for the day. I have to say that we are most definitely having a heat wave. Drum roll....please....it is now 20.5!!!!! Only good thing is that the sun is very bright today. Makes it 'feel' warmer!
Sue I hope you enjoy a great lunch with your niece. Always nice to spend time with family that you enjoy.
Carolyn oh how I love hummingbirds. They are so beautiful and graceful, aren't they? I'm amazed at how fast they move! LOL to walking around the house and thinking of me. So sorry that you hurt your knee. I hope it feels better quickly. Happy donating! This time of the year I usually have a ton of stuff to get rid of. For some reason, I only have one bag this time around. I swear Carl is 'hording his junk' someplace else!!!!
Kathryn I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your Special Education director. My heart goes out to her family and friends that will miss her. It's never easy ANY time of year, but especially during the holiday season. Will keep all involved in my prayers.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of this day. Sleep well, all!

Hi all,
Kathryn, I am so sorry to hear about your friend who retired early and then took a bad fall. That sounds exactly like what happened to DH's dearest cousin who was a school principal and took a bad fall off a curb last fall and died within a day after hitting her head. She was in such wonderful shape and an avid golfer and tennis player. Very, very sad. Who was it who said that if you want to live, stay on your feet? I think your doctor did, Kathryn. That is a good reminder for clumsy me to stay upright since I am always falling.
Carolyn, yum on the gluten free cookies. They did have some of those at the cookie swap. I brought home a small tin for DH and maybe DDIL can have one of the gluten free ones, but she probably won't trust it because of the cross contamination. She is so susceptible to episodes of painful bouts. I want to read STUFF. I will order it at the library.
Kathy, good luck with the move. I am thinking of you. I LOVE the photo of you at your birthday celebration!! You are so loved by your family!
Act, I, too, love your picture of the Seabees. My dad was a Seabee in the Philippines during WWII. He had a desk job, but said he was surrounded by troubles. I have several Sea Bee mementos. Where are you that it is 9 degrees. For some reason, I thought you were in FL. I guess I was wrong!
Ann, stay warm and glad you are done with all your special deliveries. Hey, where's mine? LOL :-) Hope you are doing well and that Luigi is staying warm. D&D have adorable new sweaters, but they LOVE the cold. Daisy will sit on an ice block for hours. :-) Funny for little English dogs.
I lost 2 lbs this week at my WI last night! Go figure. Still in shock and I am happy to say I am getting compliments now. I do know that the hardest part is yet to come--once I do lose to goal, it is that I can NEVER, EVER stop keeping track and paying attention. You all know that better than anyone I know. I am nearly halfway to goal now. About 5 lbs away.

Okay, by golly, I am going to get a post off before I get back to work. With the packers coming tomorrow at 8:00, I don't have a clue what the day might bring, but I can do a bit of a catch-up today. I did take the load this AM (and yes, suewms I AM tired...) My legs and back have really done well, I have tried to take breaks, not carry things too heavy, etc, so it was pretty disheartening to get out of bed this morning and feel 102. We have a rug on the floor at the new place for the piano to sit on, and I lay on it and did yoga stretches before I headed back...I'm sure I should have been doing a few more. When I got home, I worked in the kitchen (still more prep for tomorrow to do there, but we have to eat dinner!) and a bit of organization upstairs and started on some wash, giving me the chance to just collapse for a while. I'm on the last load, so it will be back to work soon. I hate this part of a move when it feels like it will just never be wrapped up, but of course it will! Jeremy has been such a trooper, you can tell how much younger he is than I because I know he's exhausted, but he made two trips both yesterday and today and really has so much done...still some music and CD's, but I think/hope he's going to let them pack them up. I'm thinking the packers might be annoyed to see how much we have done, but I told the guy I would do as much as I could. I still need to pack up my chest of drawers tonight, but I think that's the worst of it. I know I could let them pack it, but at this point, I know I'd prefer to be the person rummaging in my personal stuff. It's possible I'll just pack my small suitcase and not bring the rest down until next week, we'll see, but I have to get the drawers emptied!

judy709 I was wondering if people were starting to say things...that's so exciting! Yes, it does get harder to lose towards the end, but I always think that one of the reasons I was able to stay at goal was because it had taken me so long and I had finally started to change some habits...which you obviously are doing. Keep going, GF! ann1953 You are right, that sun makes all the difference. Actually, if the sun is going to be as shiny bright as it is these days, I'd rather have it cold. I feel so lucky only to have had two days of cold AND wet, I am still always having my eye out for a shiny patch, LOL. Funny with Carl and the hoarding...I *cleaned* Jeremy out pretty well when we left Pittsburgh, but he has surprised me being willing to get rid of a few things. I think both of us are terrified that the apartment is going to feel too small. kca195 Besides the obvious tragedy of your friend, I actually know someone else on the general board that had the same thing happen to her SIL last week; I knew how lucky I was when I took that bad fall in Pittsburgh, but still. It seems like there are daily reminders of how fleeting life is; so sorry. I am honestly afraid of falling, and have not liked having two stories here in Salem, it was one of my motivations to move. Remind me of that when we are piled on top of each other.... carolyn0506 You and Leia are the gimps at the moment...her sitter called me that she was limping (I haven't told Jeremy yet.) I hope you're healing quickly....and yes, Leslie Sansone is the walking indoors person. I haven't done a lot of her lately, but still have some DVD's and since I don't anticipate immediately joining a gym, I feel certain Leslie and I will be getting together soon. LOL about you remembering Leia's BD hat (we spared her wearing it this year, but she still has it.) I think Dana though those teeny hats would be decoration but we all wore them. With the conversation about dogs and boots, if you would like a laugh....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWPfCB_rwz8 An instant classic at our house; if the link doesn't work search "kathybruns new boots" on youtube. Art I laughed out loud at your vocabulary comment. @u21queen Yes, we did get the rack together...it was *touch and go*, seriously it almost touches the ceiling and with various wires and pipes, I probably need my head examined putting my clothes down there. As long as we don't get burned down, I am feeling pretty ready to get rid of most anything, so we'll see how it goes. And I agree with you, I think we are kindred spirits, too; I frequently think we're looking at life in the same way. I do know that my parents loved me, I wasn't abused or anything, but they didn't *get* what it was I needed, and I spent my life *looking in all the wrong places*. It's nice to feel so much more content. suewms Yes, I've put a ton away; sadly, until some furniture gets there, I'm a bit stuck. But, I do think that I've made the coming months easier with my efforts and that we can get through Jeremy's busy weekend and have a nice Christmas without needing to be pawing through boxes, so all good. Funny that no matter where we are, we're all cold right now. Okay, time to sign off...will try to wave tomorrow and Thursday!
