Thank you Ginny for your kind thoughts. Stomach pain is gone
Sue, I have a hard time chewing bacon too. It's not an easy thing to eat. Sorry your dh has this problem with other foods also. My dh also has given up eating a lot of things because of chewing and jaw problems. This getting old is no fun.Does your hubby have difficulty swollowing too? Has he had an upper endoscopy lately? Maybe he needs to have his esophagus dilated. Both my dh and I have had to have this done
We decided not to go out after all. It's pretty nice weather but still very windy. It's funny because on the weather reports they clamin there are wind gusts of five miles per hour. They need to come to my house to measure.so I'll spend the time getting things done that I didn't get done ysterday.I decided that I need a couple more of the headbands made with the With Love metallic yarn. I did finished up a bunch yesterday, made two more or maybe it was three and also started another one. On the Christmasy ones I'm putting fur yarn at the edges and they can also be used for Valentines day...the red ones anyway.I have one other for each of the grandchildren and the one friend of my dgd who lives there with them....regular ones they can wear all winter.I'm taking over a lot of both so they can pick out however many they want and I'll either send the others to the other grands or donate them.
Funny thing about donating.Did any of you get this too. I got a cardboard packing envelope from VFW. They, of course, were asking for donations but in the package were two pairs of socks and a check for $2.50. Nice socks too. Of course I'm going to donate as I have many in my family that are veterans but thankfully none were injured as some of the veterans were esp those that fought in Iraq and Afganistan as well as Vietnam veterans.I won't be getting that check cashed either of course

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'm glad you are feeling better. I get a lot of socks, gloves and tote bags from charities wanting me to donate, but not checks - which I wouldn't cash either. I read somewhere about a website with some free patterns and thought you might like to look at them: fromtheheartstitchers.org/crocheted-patterns/Sue - I'm glad you are feeling better too and can go to your event tomorrow. Your rice dish sounds really pretty, I'm sure everyone will enjoy it. Ginny - Hope your weather isn't too bad and you can stay home and off the roads. Phyl - Hope you are doing well and getting some crafting in. Meg - Hope you are doing well and reading some good books over the holidays. I went out today for the last of any groceries I need for several weeks, I'm glad I don't have to go in the stores with all the people shopping for the holidays. I didn't get the computer, I just didn't feel like dealing with it today. Fortunately I have a laptop so I'm alright, but I really want to get a new desktop computer by mid-January when Microsoft stops supporting Windows 7. I finished more of the Rudolph quilt and it's a very dark quilt. There is only one light color fabric in the quilt. I can see that I can't just put a border around it using the main fabric because it will just be one large blob of dark fabric So I went to JoAnn's today and bought a lighter color fabric and I might put this as a small inner border and then put the main print as the outer border. It's cold and windy here today, but sunny. Looks like we'll have some colder weather for a few days. Hope your weather is good. Take care everyone!

Sue, great idea for Ruth to rent a small u -haul for the trip especially knowing that they have a truck (and hopefully can pull one). It would require a tow hitch, wonder if you can rent those also. Your cowboy salad sounds delicious and I am sure it will be enjoyed at your quilting group Christmas party. I love rice salads....my mom used to make one that was so very good. Yours sounds great also. Glad you are feeling well enough to go! A dishwasher (other than left and right) is nice to have but certainly something you can do with out for a week or so. Of course pick the best one for you and from a reputable dealer. Your Hb is blessed to have you being so attentive to his needs. This journey of caring for him must be very frustrating at times.
Ruth, hope you are feeing better. You will be doing what I like the least about this time of year, wrapping gifts. Hope yours is done with out much difficulty. My back gets tired from standing to wrap- guess my table is the wrong height.
Going to be super cold here tonight- in the teens.
Have a good evening all Ginny

CJ- how heartbreaking that you had to go to Joanns today. My condolences....but I bet the Rudolph quilt will look amazing.
Ruth is the fur yarn difficult to work with?? G

I agree that a u haul trailer wouold be a good thing but I'm not going to get one because I am not that good at driving and for sure can't back up a trailer.I'll have a hard time driving in traffic even without a trailer. I'm not as brave as I used to be. Back when I was young I drove with those trailers several times...and also with a boat and trailer but I never could back them up.
Ginny, at least I don't have too many that I will be wrapping but do know what you mean about the back hurting while doing that. I do do a lot of wrapping at birthdays. I've tried sitting on the floor to wrap. It didn't help.
I'm baking dh a cheesecake. He likes the NY style, I like the creamier ones.

Hello Crafters Ginny - Hope you make it through the cold and bad weather alright. It's very cold here today too, but fortunately it was sunny. Ruth - Hope your DH enjoys the cheesecake you made him. I've made a few of them over the years and just find it easier to buy one in the store I went to the Amish Market today and only picked up a few things. The last time I was there they had some Stayman apples and they were really good, so I bought some more of those. I also bought a piece of cake (yellow with chocolate frosting) that was very good. I like being able to just buy one piece, because I've tried some things there that I don't really like and aren't worth the calories. I tried the yellow fabric with the Rudolph quilt and don't like it at all. So I'm just going to finish sewing the 5 rows together and leave it there. I have enough of the Rudolph fabric to use as backing, so that's what I'll do. Take care everyone!

Good evening,,
Ruth, you are absolutely right about the hazards of driving a you haul. I know in the CDL manual they mention that one of the most dangerous drivers are those who are driving youhauls, becasue they are not confident of their driving and do not have the proper training to go any distance. I forgot that you do most of the driving....How did Dhโs cheesecake turn out??
CJ- great idea to buy one piece of cake- getting the desire for sweets out of your system and then moving on. Hope those apples were good! Is this Amish market open year round? Dh and I are planning on getting to one in the spring, but their winter hours are much less than their spring and summer hours.
Phyl- Indeed wisdom that you shared with about fabric selection. Hope that the concert was delightful and a good time.
I worked this am and then babysat. Babysitting all day tomorrow too, so I wonโt get much done tomorrow.. I did start laying out the next Bible cover...now that I have made this once I figure this one will go more quickly.
Have a great night all Ginny

Phyl, I loved John Denver's music and have several cd's.
CJ, after I get to Indiana I'm going to have to see if they have Amish markets there. I understand there are a lot of Amish people living in that area and I know there's a buffet restaurant with all Amish food. I forgot to thank you for the crochet pattern site. I love looking at patterns of all kinds
Haven't got to any crafting today yet except for looking at the crochet groups on FB.

Phyl, thank you for that info. Shipshewana is pretty far from the part of Indiana I'll be in. Its more to the north and I'll be closer to the Ky border in the southern part of the state. When we get a chance to explore the state though that will definitely be a place of interest for us.

Thanks for the reminder Phyl- there are many amish settlements in Indiana! Nice places for Ruth and her Dh to visit. So glad the concert was a nice time for you. Ruth, perhaps on the way to your home or if you need a nice day trip you can check out that amish area. As CJ well knows, the Amish markets are so nice.
Got two little kids coming here in an hour. Better get my day started. Ginny

I found out something interesting last night. Chromebooks have an expiration date! I got mine this spring and it expires in Jun of 1922, They say the exp date is 6.5 years but that is from the date of chipset not the date of purchase. Dh was looking at laptops yesterday because he has only a desktop and he found this out. He also found out that they are selling brand new ones that already have only a couple years left. You can still use them after that date but then you're a a huge risk that people can access your info esp if you doing banking and buying things online. So we won't be buying anymore Chromebooks. This exp is for updates including updates in security measures.

Hello Crafters Phyl - I'm glad you enjoyed the concert. I enjoyed John Denver's music too. My mother was born in West Virginia, so she enjoyed hearing his song "Country Roads". Ginny - I hope you can find some time to get the bible cover done, it sounds like life has been very busy for you. Ruth - There are lots of Amish shops in Indiana, I hope you do get to visit some of them. I like to get their food because I know it doesn't have preservatives in it, but it does mean you have to eat it quickly. I'm glad you enjoyed looking at the patterns. That's interesting about the Chromebooks, thanks for sharing. I have a laptop and my kindles, so I'm glad I don't need another type of tablet. I still haven't bought the desktop PC, I didn't feel like going in the store this week. I might just wait until the new year to buy it. It was sunny here today and milder, in the 40s. I'm glad not to have any rain. I finished piecing the Rudolph top together and I'm glad I decided not to put any outer borders on it, I think it's fine just the way it is. It finished at 42 inches wide by 55 inches long, a nice lap size. Now I want to figure out how to cut up the other piece of fabric - I think I have 2 or 3 yards of it, but it's a repeating fabric so I have to be careful where I cut. This is the fabric: www.etsy.com/listing/712388859/country-christmas-scenic-blue-allover?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_christmas_Craft_Supplies_and_Tools&utm_custom1=37286668-cc0c-481a-abb3-c97c9c58c903&utm_content=go_1707294370_69268674929_331635229818_pla-295462056867_c__712388859&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI17_LvrPF5gIVlYjICh1MrgYZEAYYAiABEgJ_9_D_BwEwww.amazon.com/Elizabeths-Studio-Country-Christmas-Scenic/dp/B072YWTX91/ref=pd_sbs_201_t_0/145-1429732-9084211?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B072YWTX91&pd_rd_r=6c70464e-391b-40ea-86cd-50072ae4dc25&pd_rd_w=j6I3q&pd_rd_wg=TSxE4&pf_rd_p=5cfcfe89-300f-47d2-b1ad-a4e27203a02a&pf_rd_r=5FMGFHMAM21EJG6VRFTR&psc=1&refRID=5FMGFHMAM21EJG6VRFTR(Sorry for the long links, hope they work) Take care everyone!

Had no idea about Chromebooks with an expiration date! Kind of scary. We have a desk top and this IPad.- and I will say that Apple automatically makes their products with expiration dates, as does Microsoft by making so many software updates that they refuse to support older models.
CJ- so glad you finished the Rudolph top!! It sounds adorable and I hope you are happy with it.
Long day babysitting....and now Dh is watching some stupid aliens show on TV. Boring to me......
Have a great night ginny
