Speaking of Wag the Dog, when news broke about the whistleblower, he announced that he was pulling troops out of Syria. I can't help but think that this latest maneuver was, in part, meant to impact the 2020 election. And speaking of 2020, does anyone think that Bernie will convince his voters to get behind someone else if he doesn't get the nomination? That's what I think too, Pam. And as for Bernie, I am afraid he won't. He didn't put much effort into it when he didn't get the nomination before, and I'm worried that this time it would be the same way. I think that's why he doesn't actually join the Democrat party, but still considers himself Independent. He wants the best of both worlds. I admit he got a raw deal from the party the last time around, but still he's running on the Democrat ticket so IMO he should be a team player or else just run as an Independent. I really don't understand why the party allows people who do not identify as a member of the party to run on their ticket.

I may not be posting much if at all for the next week. We're going to be in CA, and I'm not taking my laptop. I will have my phone with me, and will try to check in from that, but I am mostly going to concentrate on having a good time. Hopefully the JA won't get us into WWIII while I'm gone.

Have a great time, Joyce! I'll miss your posts. Kudos to you on being down 11# for 2019! I am at a dead standstill. I don't really do resolutions but plan to do some kind of exercise every day. My physical therapy has helped and it's gotten me in the habit of doing something on a regular basis, so I can build on that. Like the house walking idea.
And who said "life is a gift." YES.
Thank you all for being here!

Wouldn't it be nice to have a real president and VP in DC?

Joyce, have a relaxing, political free vaca. Enjoy the food, enjoy the conversation & the activities planned. JA could get us into a whole heap of trouble in a week, but, hopefully, he won't. Counting on his babysitters to put some restraints on him. Well, his babysitters aren't much to count on, but, maybe its better than nothing if they have families who are as frightened as the rest of us. Anyway, have FUN!

With less than a month until Iowa, three are now tied for the top spot. Iran and the US seem destined for war. I am so over men swinging their @*#&s!

Totally agree Pam!
I thought upon waking, well, here we go. Its going to be one scary moment after another with Iran, Impeachment, the irresponsible Tweeting from JA, the Enablers turning a blind eye, and on and on and on.
Will the sight of flag draped coffins arriving home from the Middle East finally be the last straw for JA supporters & Republican Congress people who consistently cover JA behind & make up excuses & blame the Democrats for everything & anything? Somehow I have no faith that even this will make a difference. What a sad state of affairs :-(

I don't think it will come to nuclear war, but anything else seems possible.

I wonder what changed John Boltons mind about testifying??? Especially, announcing it today, with the Iran Crisis dominating the news....Maybe trying to steal the spotlight from his former boss??

Maybe. lol maybe he's finished writing that part of his book. Sure seems like he's signaling to members of Congress like Susan Collins, Mitt Romney and Lisa Murkowski that he has relevant info. I hope they ask the Grim Reaper to subpoena his testimony.

POLITICS 01/06/2020 02:31 pm ET Updated 10 minutes ago Donald Trump Jr. Under Fire For Decorating AR-15 With Hillary Clinton Cartoon Many people on Twitter wondered if the president’s son would go against family tradition and actually enlist in the military.
On a day when many families are preparing to send loved ones to the Middle East, this dumb ass, Donnie Jr, tweets he has had a great day at the shooting range. This family is so damn clueless & amoral. I think Jr, Eric & Ivanna should be the first on the ground in Iraq or Iran. I wonder how far their bravado would go then. It just makes me so angry when I read stuff like this about these idiotic children of an idiotic Fake President.

We were without internet from just after Thanksgiving until just after Christmas. During that time about all I could manage to do when I did get someplace there was internet was try to keep up with emails. I found being away from the computer was very calming. I have decided that while I might read the political posts I see I am not going to get sucked in and comment on them.
