Another vote for Hillary to bow out and keep quiet during this process. I think she could have been a really good President, but she lost. She may not have lost fairly, and she may have won the popular vote but nevertheless she lost. It is what it is. She needs to step back and stay quiet. Everything she is saying about Sanders may be true. Who knows? But even if it is true, he would be a million times better than what we have now. We need to unite the party, and unite behind whoever ends up as the nominee. Personally, Sanders is my least favorite of the candidates who probably have an actual shot at the nomination. But I can tell you that if he should get the nomination I will be cheering him on and supporting him with all my might. That's what Hillary should do too, and for now she should just keep quiet.

Please, please, please some Republicans (at least 4) in the Senate remember that you are there to uphold the Constitution--not to fawn over Mitch McConnell or the JA. You took an oath. That should mean something. Will it? Are there at least 4 Republicans who care about preserving democracy? Or has every single one of them sold their souls?

They have all sold their their souls!!! This is such a sham & those 4 GOP Congress People who "dangle" the possibility of their voting for witness, when I don't doubt for a minute they will cave, are the worst of the bunch. Honesty is not in the GOP vocabulary!

Should we be planning a "cyber Pajama Party"?....;-)

The only reason a defense doesn't want witnesses is because they're guilty. I wish more DT supporters would realize that.

DotRen, the problem is they do, but they don't care.

@lka48 , I think you are absolutely right. I don't really hold out any hope for them either, but oh I wish they would prove me wrong. Guess I'll be a Pollyanna until the bitter end, although even I can hold out no hope he'll be convicted. There's not that much justice in the world, and certainly not in D.C. Count me in for the cyber pajama party. I'll bring the white zinfandel. DotRen, absolutely they'd want witnesses if they believed for an instant it would even cast a shadow of doubt over his guilt. They KNOW with absolute certainty that he is guilty. lani, you are right that they absolutely do not care. I think they know he's guilty and they don't care, but I struggle with how that can be. How can any American truly not care that our country and our democracy is being destroyed. They might as well build a bonfire and throw the Constitution into the fire while they all join hands and dance around the flames.

Well said, Lani. That is the truth. They don't give a rat's about the country. These people aren't the politicans of our parents or grandparents. They want to keep their jobs. That's all.
The one thing they don't want is the truth.
We talk a good talk about truth and justice but they are meaningless words without any action.
It's a shame. Founding Fathers would be shocked.
Expect nothing and you will never be disappointed.
I don't like wasting time or money. I also don't like liars or cheats. I especially don't like when I'm paying their salary.

Are you Yaaaaawning?....LOL Actually, I didn't even watch anything after about 5pm. I had it on all day & kept my hands busy with some needlepointing while watching. But just got to a point, I needed to walk away. I'll have the TV on today. I keep thinking this is history in the making & I have so much time invested since JA walked down that escalator I want to see it to the end, whenever that is.

So far it's such a blatant mockery of "justice".. no witnesses, trying to quash documents - republican voters should really look hard and long at their "elected" officials right now through this.

Republicans should be hanging their heads in shame! Susan Collins did cross lines on one vote, but that's pretty much meaningless. Will she stand up again? She's not been one that could be counted on to have a spine in the past. She's been pretty much talk without action. And where was Alexander and the other "moderates"? Hiding in the cloakroom closet I suppose as usual when they need to take a stand. Disgusting!
I listened to some, but really only in bits and pieces. I just couldn't take the JA's lawyers without feeling sick to my stomach. This afternoon I will miss a lot as I'm going to be out of the house with DH and then on chauffeur duty for the DGKs. They'll be here for dinner tonight as well, so won't be watching anything until at least after they leave. That's for the best. It just gets me so upset and leaves me feeling helpless.
Bernie's attacks against Biden and doing things like using a video where Biden was mocking Ryan to pretend it was Biden's actual position is making me angry too even if it was "staff" as opposed to actually Bernie. Come on Democrats! Get it together! We need to win this thing, not attack each other. But then, Bernie's not a Democrat and most likely his staff isn't either. So Bernie cut it out and control your staff! I was pleased that Biden refused to get down in the dirt about it this morning on Morning Joe. Biden is not my first choice. But I was pleased with his interview this morning.

I saw Biden on Morning Joe, too. I agree, this sniping at each other has to stop. I wonder if Bernie fired that staff member? If its getting nasty now, I can only imagine how bad its going to get down the road before nominations. I think Susan Collins is the one that Midnight Mitch, as he is now being called by others, probably is using her as the sacrificial lamb & has given her permission to to vote with the Dems so that he can keep the rest in line. Susan Collins going along with that is just hypocritical IMHO. I don't trust her either. Wonder how that is playing in her state?

I know I am biased against DT, but I really don't understand how anyone could listen to even a bit of the Senate impeachment without seeing how baseless the Republican lawyers' talking points are. Anyway, even if they allowed that everything happened as the House has laid out, they will just say it's not impeachable. Oh well...
At least the evidence is out there for anyone who cares to see.

Some of the evidence at least from the Congress, but I'm afraid not enough people will pay attention. They'll just listen to the fact that the Senate acquits him and move on past. Republican Senators obviously just don't care. There's not a patriot in the bunch. Democrats are not without flaw, that's for certain. But as someone (can't remember who right now) once said, "Thank God I am not a Republican!" ------- "In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for; as for me, I rejoice that I am not a Republican. " -- H. L. Mencken
