Happy Monday Folks!! Trying hard to motivate myself here. I feel fine, just wish I was still in bed.
Nice to see Ruth and CJ checking in last night. Ruth, I always somehow default to an H hook. Don’t ask me why it just happens. But I do know if it was me I would make sure that I left directions for myself what my intentions were for hooks/patterns/yarn. I would, for sure forget!!
CJ- you sure got lucky with a good book and your television viewing working out that you could watch all the shows you wanted to.
Gotta get my day started. Ginny

Hello Crafters Ginny - I hope the day got better for you and you were motivated to do some things Last evening I watched a murder mystery show on Hallmark and then before going to sleep I checked out a bunch of quilting/crafting blogs. So I guess that's why I dreamed last night that a stolen piece of famous cross stitch was found and a detective was trying to find who had taken it Our subconscious minds are so interesting. I went out this morning to get some groceries and run some errands. Now I don't need to go out the rest of the week if I don't want to, that's always nice. One of the grocery stores I went to has an Asian Food Hot Bar and I like the vegetables (mostly I get the zucchini and red peppers) in a sauce and also the chow mein noodles. I treat myself to some of these when I go to the store which is only about 6 or so times a year. They also have a really nice baked turkey breast that I bought too. I can get 3-4 meals out of it. I did finish my book and it was very good, I'll start another one tonight maybe. No luck for me with TV shows tonight. There are 4 shows on at 9:00 that I want to watch and 3 shows on at 10:00 that I want to watch. I'll probably record a few of them and some will probably repeat, so I can catch them later. Of course in a few days (Wed and Thurs) there is pretty much nothing on I want to watch I'm hoping to get the sewing lines drawn on the fabrics I cut the other day. Then I'll be ready to sew. I think I'm also going to bring my bags of scrap fabrics into the room where I watch TV so that I can sort them by color now, instead of by size. I think it would be fun to see how many different things I can do with the scraps in the monthly assigned color and hopefully by the end of the year I won't have much left. Hope everyone had a good day and is getting in some crafting

Hello Friends. I hope you are all having a good day and will have a great week. Something to hope for anyway.
Ginny, I often feel like I want to stay in bed. Mornings are my best sleeping times. I hope you can get some crafting done but if I remember correctly Mondays are a very busy day for you.
CJ, sorry that today is not like yesterday and that so many of good programs you would like to watch are on at the same time. The store you mentioned sounds very good to me. I know that there are some like that in Indiana. My ddil has mentioned some and I hope she will take me to some of them. Congrats in getting your scraps organized and a plan to use them by the end of the year.
I looked thru my fabric again this morning and still not really through all of it.I found two pieces that I think will make an awesome table runner and now I'm wondering If I need to change my plan. The one I'm making for myself I'm going to make smaller than the videos because I think my camper table is pretty small. About the size of a small restaurant booth table so I may want to save this fabric for a larger table. The one piece is primarily red with the words of the pledge of allegiance on it and the other piece is primariy dark navy with little flags. I have a lot of the fabric that would make a good second fabric for the point part of the runner but have to look thru more to find some for the main parts. It is to be a little warmer this week so hopefully the wind stays at a reasonable level so that it isn't too cold and I can make a couple. I just need to review the video because one of the videos shows the point done the opposite way of the one you gave us the link to, Ginny. So I'm going to follow your video
Hello to Sue, Meg, and Phyl also and hope all is well with you.

Will be back later..... but I wonder if the directions for the 10 minute table runner are available in written form. Then they can be printed out . Might make it easier for Ruth

CJ-First off, I am glad that you finished the book and that it was so worth reading. Are you sticking with the same author on your next book? I find it fun to start up with a new author (new for me) and then be able to read through the whole series, without having to wait for the next book. Do you have your books lined up- do you know what you will read next? What a great idea to go through your fabric scraps while watching TV. Kills two birds with one stone for sure. What did you think of the murder mystery? I recorded it, have not had a chance to watch it yet. The preview made it sound really good.
Ruth, Hope you can get the opportunity to make some of the table runners. I would imagine you could change the size somewhat to accommodate a smaller table. Perhaps another design would work too....
No crating done today, but I did get to look though the newest Herrscheners catalog, so that counts! I decided at 2 pm that I wanted the morning off tomorrow, so I let work know I would not be going in. This evening, we heard from DSIL that we are getting the kids for babysitting at 7 am- so there goes my quiet morning ! I spoke to the woman at Joanns who called to confirm my appointment for my machine. She suggested that I might just need a new bobbin case, so I will discuss that with her Wednesday.
Gotta get some sleep.... Hi to Phyl, Sue and Meg. Ginny

Good Morning my dear crafting friends,
yesterday I did get par of my sewing/family room organized. still have some work to do. will not even talk about my overflow room with more sewing stuff.
Sunday I went over to Nita's. WE both worked on the paper piecing project that we took a class in.Nita had finished her table runner months ago. not sure what she is making now.
I don't know what mine will turn into. my blocks are not coming out to 7 inches. oh well just means mine will be a little shorter. these Judy Neuimier These quiltworx patterns are not easy.as one quilter says they are complicated.
So now Nita is going to start one of judy's patterns called pansies. the kind of sewing you don't want anybody around to distract you. oh my gosh, talk about tiny paper paper piecing pieces..
today we have sew day. not sure I am going again. did not sleep very good.
Ginny what kind of thread are you using? some machines do not like certain threads. when I had my pfaff it did not like coats and clarks or monofiliment. mey dealer back then said do not buy walmart threads. they are rejects from the thread companies.he showed me how thin they are compared to a good thread.
have a good day. phyl

Another good idea Phyl! I am using sulky, which I have used many many times in this machine. As a matter of fact the entire BOM quilt is put together with sulky. But its still a great idea and simply amazing how quirky these machines are.Congrats to you for getting some straightening up done. Its not fun, but its gotta happen. Little by little it all gets done as long as you do not mess up the area more before you get it straightened up. (Which Is what would happen to me). I have bought thread from Walmart, and actually used coats and Clark’s for the rag quilts I made from my mom’s polyester blouses. For that it worked fine- but the fabric I was using was not good quilting calico. Any idea why you did not sleep well last night? It seems like I get at least one bad night a week....anyway, hope that you manage to sleep well tonight. Are you a big fan of paperpiecing? Were you and Nita able to get very far on the projects you were working on? Sounds like a challenging project, lots of small pieces. I sure hope that the directions are good!!
Took DGD to story time. She seemed to like it.

good morning everyone. I'm getting a late start today as I didn't sleep well in the night either so when I did fall asleep I slept too late
Phyl, congrats on getting the sewing area cleaned up. I, too, have an overflow room (or two). Paper piecing sounds more complicated than I'd want to deal with so congrats on expanding your talent in that direction
All I remember is that they told me I put it in in the wrong direction which I know wasn't the problem because I tried both directions and it did the same thing. so When I bought my new machine they told me also not to use cheapie thread. I bought some from them but it has no markings and I don't remember what it was called if I ever knew. It came on a thin long spool rather than the traditional spools. It was several years ago that I bought the machine and I havent' even used up the first spool yet.
I think it would be pretty easy to adjust the size of the table runner so I'm going to try it one day this week...probably Thursday unless dh becomes inspired to go out again. Can't believe it's already Tuesday.
Yesterday we did get a bunch of things packed up to take with us on our trip. Got a lot more to do though and, of course I want the house clean when I leave also.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I've just spent the last hour or so looking at quilt blocks on websites, one thing just takes you to another and so on and so on I finished some of the sewing for my bowtie quilt blocks and hope to finish them later today. I'm not going to do an hourglass block right now because I don't think I have enough of the white fabric I'm using for the first blocks. I may need to go to JoAnn Fabrics (hopefully I bought the white fabric there) and see if they have more of it. I'm going to cut up what I have of it into the 5 inch squares I'm using and see how much more I need or if I have enough. Ginny - I'm glad your DGD enjoyed storytime, I'm sure it's fun for you remembering taking your own children to it I have, in the past, saved up several books of a series by one author to read them one after another, it is nice doing that. But the books I've been reading monthly are mostly from different authors (although some are from series). Phyl - Hope you enjoy sew day. Meg and Sue - Hope you are getting some crafting done. It's raining some here today, I'm glad I don't have to go out. I'm going to bake some carrots to eat with my turkey breast. Take care everyone

Ruth - I have a crochet question for you. Can you tell what type of yarn was used in this baby blanket? I don't mean the brand, but like the weight or type, if you know what I mean. I think it's really pretty and I'd like to try to make it using the same texture yarn. Thanks! gemini-stitches.blogspot.com/2019/06/pastel-crochet-baby-blanket.html

hi, sew day was ok. don't think to many of us had to much energery. there were 11 of us.usually there are 20 or more.
I did work on this small paper piecing .think I know what I was doing wrong.
plus before you cut some of the project has a odd ball shape,. that is what was throwing me off. yet when it is done right you still end up with a square.
RUTH wonder if they sold you some kind of serger thread. Nancy from Nancy's notions and have read it do not use serger thread for quilting.guess it can still break after you have the quilting done. other reasons I can not remember.
Ginny my brother/pfaff/vinking dealer stopped selling sulky threads in his shop. can' t remember the reason.that was another thread my pfaff did not like at the time.
ginny I am not a big fan of paper piecing. just getting to the point of starting to like at times.I do have friends that is the only way they will quilt.phyl

CJ- ok so I am going to try to answer your question.....and Ruth will laugh hysterically at my response. I am going to vote for that this is a fine or sport weight yarn- or a #3 in weight. My guesstimating is based upon this- the crochet hook pictured is a small hook and the yarn looks small in comparison to the hook Ruth will have a much more scientific reason for whatever the proper response is but that is my input. Hope you do not mind that I commented. I did finish the Hallmark movie ( A beautiful place to die) and actually liked it a lot! Ifs a bit of a deviation from their normal sweet movies, but did not become excessively seedy. What did you think of it? Were you able to finish your bow tie blocks....and I hope you do not have to go back to Joanns for more fabric. Chances are they still have the same fabric, especially if its a tonal type white. Or perhaps you can find something very close.
Phyl- my LQS still sells sulky and they also have it in Joanns. Yes its that time of year, not all of us have much energy. Hope you get yours back after a good nights sleep. Good luck with the paper piecing...it does make such precision corners and shapes, but I can see why some consider it a pain.
Ruth, your trip is starting to sound like its soon! I do not envy you, there must be many loose ends to tie up and make sure things are the way you want them.
Hope everyone sleeps well tonight...Sue, when do you get the results from the biopsy? Again, hoping they are negative and that you are healing well from the procedure. Meg, did you get out to lunch and find some yarn to make an afghan for Devin?

I left a message asking about the yarn but since that was posted in June of 19 she may not even see it
