Good evening!
CJ- so glad you got all ready for the class tomorrow and have your fabric cut. I am really anxious to hear how you like the project and technique. It would be great if we can figure out how to post pictures here, then we could easily see each other's projects. Glad the weather will cooperate for you to go to class too. Even with a smaller group, it's nice that you could get out to eat and spend time together.
Ruth- hope you are happily making hats, and in that new yarn that you found too!! Think you are right with the reasons why kids are not properly dressed for bad weather...vanity is a real problem with reference to that. Of course I understand that you would not want to post where DGS wants to attend school- and being that I am no expert on Christian schools, there is a good chance I do not know where it is anyway! BOth Grove City and Houghton are excellent schools, both several hours away from our home. For my DD, the public school she is attending is much closer and permits her, most weekends to come home for church. And she is not the super crazy type, so I am not worried about her doing something absurd on campus. I love snow....it's pretty....and it makes for a perfectly good excuse not to have to go out and a perfectly good reason to stay in and craft!
Think we are done with Christmas shopping. Amen.
Meg, hope you rested up a bit. Phyl, we look forward to hearing from you when you can stop in. Ginny

Hj everyone, so much for a restful day. DS was available to help me do our big grocery shopping so off we went this morning. I used the electric chair and I wizzed around. to give my legs a rest. He did most of the shopping and I got what I wanted. Then homer and put everything away.
In the after noon I went to my Knit Wits group which I always enjoy. I worked on the b/blanket that I started awhile ago before I ran out of one of the yarns. I am now using another yarn which will have to do. The blanket will be donated when it is finished. This evening I have been working on another b/blanket that needs a border and I am listening to a audio book by Danielle Steel titled Echoes. I think I will get quite a lot of crocheting listening to this one.
Ginny, good for you getting all your shopping finished. Tomorrow I may go to Kohl's I would like to treat myself to some new slippers if they still have the ones I want. DS works there and he gets a discount on top of his employee discount so this is a good time for me to shop. Gary over on the othe thread may know how to post pictures as he has posted one of himself.
Ruth, are you snowed in?
cj, hope all is well with you also Phyl and that you are both staying warm. I wonder what happened to Tee.
Anyway I need to get off this computer.

Ginny, it's nice to be done with shopping isn't it. Just 10 days until Christmas now and we can concentrate on wrapping and other things in the house like baking if you do that, cooking and cleaning and most of all resting and crafting.
I see online that the interstate thru here is closed so other roads probably are too and dh looked out earlier and said the snow is drifting. It's ok because we aren't going anywhere anywy.
Ginny, yes after I did some laundry and cleaned the bedroom I started on the hats. I'll be done with them this weekend I'm sure. I have some cooking to do tomorrow and after that it's back to crochet.Dh wanted me to bake him some pecan tarts (or walnut tarts) but when we were out yesterday they had a sale on Marie Callendar pies and you also got free ice cream when you bought one pie so he bought a pecan pie so maybe he won't want the tarts after all although by next weekend he might. He'll probably have the pie eaten by Monday.
Meg, I hope they have the slippers you want. It sounds like you had a busy day as usual.
Well I'm going to go start another hat then in about an hour time to sleep.

Hello Crafters - hope you are enjoying your weekend I didn't get to go to my class today. It was icy here until at least noontime, so it wasn't safe to go out and drive. The quilt shop said that they are going to reschedule the class for another date. So that was nice of them. At least I'll be ready for the class whenever it happens. I haven't done any crafting today, but might pick up my crochet later. Take care everyone.

CJ, I'm sorry that you couldn't get to your cless but yes, it's great that it will be rescheduled. I'm glad you didn't try to go out on that ice.
I've been cooking and now am going to craft. Dh will have food for a couple days.

www.1dogwoof.com/millbrook-slouch-hat-yarn-heroes/this is a pattern for a nice hat. If any one makes it though...a word of warning. ...don't follow her advice on the number if increase rows to make. This hat is way too small for an adult. Also the ridges it shows donn't show up as much in person as it does on the picture she has posted. I knew it wasn't going to be large enough but I had to try anyway so wasted some time doing a few more rows then tearing them back out to make it larger.

Hi everyone. I am taking a break from sorting and throwing out paper. Oh how it can pile up in just a week. The shredder decided to stop working maybe it is time for a new one. I had so much stuff from the bank as I take care of Janet's funds and other medical papers and most of I don't need. so I had a good session de cluttering paper.
Last evening I almost finished the border on the second b/blanket and I will finish it today sometime. Then I just have to finish knitting the 3 rd b/blanket and that should not take long once I sit down and do it. I have a good audio book at the moment and that inspires me to sit down crochet or knit.
I have most of my Christmas gifts taken care of and I just have a few to wrap which I will do next week. Tomorrow we will have a Christmas gathering here with a few friends so next week should be fairly easy and Devin will be at school all week.
Ruth, your home sounds very full of the Christmas spirit. Snow outside and the smell of cooking and baking inside. What more can you ask for. Pecan pies sound nice. I used to bake them years ago. I don't bake a lot anymore.
cj, I am sorry you were not able to go to your class but better you stay of ice covered roads. At least you have it to look forward to at a future date.
Gunny, I guess you are very busy. Hope all is well.
Phyl, how are you? I hope you don't have to drive on ice covered roads. Take care
Have a wonderful care free day.

Good evening!
CJ- glad to hear you are ok and that you did not attend class .(also wonderful that they rescheduled it!). In your general area there was an accident involving a tractor trailer that exploded- with at least 2 fatalities....so glad you are ok and were not impacted by that. I feel horrible for the people and their families in the accident. Such a sad incident.
Meg, you shredding fiend! Most shredders have overheat cut outs- and they recommend you only shred for 5 minutes to give the motor time to cool. Give it a rest, and perhaps you will find it just needed to cool down. I hope you can get your slippers at Kohls! Nothing better than a new pair of slippers to keep your feet cozy! Glad you have a good book to listen to- Danielle Steel books are real page turners.... You are making good progress on the baby afghans too!! Bet you crochet more quickly to an exciting book!
Ruth- the pattern I gave you has too many rows of slouch! Will you be making the hats for your DGS's from the pattern you posted? Think I will stick with my pattern- it's easy ( I need easy!) and I want to make a few more hats (including one for myself). Thanks for providing the link for this hat though, it looks cute.Well, I bet you are prepared for making walnut(or pecan ) tarts- after Dh finishes that pie! Hope it's not a temptation for you....
Yes, today was busy- I had to go with Dh to pick up Dd's car. She stayed home to study for finals. It was awful, the roads were unplowed, and while we were able to get through, conditions were bad. I spent a lot of the day cooking- Dd's bday is tomorow and she will be heading back to school tomorrow. So celebrating today (which we did) makes more sense. Gonna finish that hat tonight while watching football with Dh. I hope to give it to the young lady at church I am mentoring tomorrow.
Phyl- hope you are doing well.
G'night! Ginny

Meg, one of my friends keeps all her paperwork...all the ones that you get after a medical visit or treatment that Medicare pays for ...what are they CMS or something? I don't know why. I don't save them. I don't know of what use they would be. I don't have a shredder, I have a woodstove so I save them up and burn them when I get to it. I've been burning a lot lately.
Well my house smells like food yes but not Christmas food. And not any dessert baking...just food.
Ginny, yes the pattern you gave does have a lot of rows of slouch. I didn't do all of them. I did see something on the news where they showed people putting wreaths on the graves of veterans and one had an extremely shouchy hat on. It looked good on her but no I don't want to make them with that much slouch. In the pattern I posted I didn't know what she meant by the "extra back stitch" and looked behind the stitch and there it was. It's tricky so I don't blame you for not wanting to try it...at least not right away. I have NEVER seen a pattern where they said to crochet into the crochet into that part.I did make my dgs and dggs' hats with that pattern but, as usual, I altered it to my taste. I esp had to alter the one for the baby because he's only 3 months old so the hat is too small for the three seconds of the raised part.
Have a good evening, CJ, Meg, Ginny, and Phyl and anyone else that reads here.
Oh I meant to say that I heard about that accident. It's a horrible thing
I also was going to say that I should have gone to visit ds for Christmas...it's 66 there....southern Indiana

Hello Crafters Just wanted to stop by and say "hello". I haven't done any crafting or much of anything else this weekend. I guess I needed a break after all the things I had to do last week. I'm hoping this week will be a little quieter but I already have a commitment to visit a sick friend at the hospital tomorrow and I might be going to a visitation at a funeral home this week too. Take care.

Good evening!
Today became much busier than I anticipated....am just settling in to normalcy now.
Worked on the hat a little last night and I had to take out a few rows, one stitch looked funny. Oh well....
CJ- your week sounds a bit emotionally draining- Visting a sick friend and a visitation at a funeral home. Was the deceased someone close? It is a difficult time of year to lose a loved one or friend.
Ruth- yes, I like to burn my excess papers when I can too. I do not do all the rows of slouch- think I mentioned that. Perhaps will take on the other pattern next year. I have to finish the hat I am working on and get busy on the Afghan. It's hard to believe that Southern Indiana could be so much warmer....almost spring like!
Have a good evening all Hi to Meg and Phyl Ginny

Just stopping in quick to say hello. It's been a cold and busy day
Ginny, today the temp where ds lives was only 25 so a big drop from yesterday.
I saw another pattern today that uses that same stich in back of the main stitch. Strange that I never saw it before and now in two days I've seen two patterns using it.
Ginny, I do think the slouchy's look nice but not when they have too much slouch so you're right...the pattern has too many rows but that's easy to change as you know. The hat I made for sil is the most complicated one I've made in the ones I made the last couple days. I'd bet anything, though, that it will end up being used by the 11 yr old dgs which is fine with me. At least I made the effort to do something for sil.
See you all tomorrow.
