Linda, so far I haven't seen Bernie being realistic about anything so he may very well think he can be a two term President. The whole country seems to have just gone completely nuts. Pete is saying there are irregularities in the Nevada caucus count. Remember when we were laughing at the fact that Florida couldn't count votes? Seems like they're not the only state that needs a math lesson or maybe a technology lesson. luanne, absolutely if Bernie should win they're going to be shouting about Russian interference. We totally have Republicans to blame for not doing more to make this election secure. What a mess as I think Pam said the other day!

DH actually spoke these words this morning: "I may have to vote for Trump if Bernie gets the nomination." My blood runs cold. He can't stand Trump and yet... I fear he's not the only one. Oh my gosh lani , that is scary, and I'm afraid there are many more out there like your DH. Sometimes it seems like the Democrat Party is its own worst enemy in its choices. I keep wanting someone to tell me I am wrong about Bernie not being able to beat Trump. Please someone tell me I am wrong. Well I thought there was no way Trump would beat Hillary. So I have no confidence in my predictions or gut feelings.

I thought there was no way Trump would beat Hillary. So I have no confidence in my predictions or gut feelings. No one did, not even Trump. Don't forget all those polls. Say Bernie does win. Will the House go republican in the next time they're up for election? Will the Senate become even more republican? Will Bernie be able to enact any of his policies with a divided congress and the republicans in lock step? If he appoints to the SCOTUS will McConnell find a way to block any nominee for four years? Aside from disagreeing with his policies, these are the things that keep me up at night.

I don't think Trump beat Hillary. I believe he and his cronies bought the election. I believe he's a mobster. A thug. He's not a patriot either. He's in this for one thing. Money and the power it brings.
I also believe he's a plant, a patsy, a traitor. I could go on but he's not worth it.

True! I can't wait for the day I turn on a news channel or a political show and see and hear real news and political stories. Not these Baby Huey rants and tweets. Not this smirking fool on 24/7 and not ever saying anything important. Starting every sentence with "I".
We need a real president. Not a lame actor playing one for the camera.
If we can't do better than this jerk Kruschev was correct. Russia is burying us and our own people are doing it.
Pathetic.

Joyce, you are wrong. Lol.
If Bernie is the best we can do we might as well keep Trump.
I need a new hobby. Politics is depressing. It doesn't encourage me or make me feel hopeful. It brings me down and makes me worried and fearful.

I just remember watching the returns on election night and feeling my heart, and stomach, sinking.

Bernie needs to explain in more detail HOW he's going to accomplish his plans. The debate format sure doesn't give him the chance to clearly put forth enough detail. Folks don't like the idea of socialism but do they really know what Bernie wants to socialize and how he's get any of it through Congress?? Our military, Federal Highway system, social security, Medicare, Medicaid, EPA, the FBI, Federal prison system, etc - all are run by government now. I think folks have no idea that they may be much better off financially with Medicare for All (especially with a single payer system). If employers weren't paying for employee health plans, they could increase employee compensation. Yes, our taxes would go up but for the good of all. No one would ever have to worry about losing their homes or going bankrupt because of medical bills. All our lives would be better if there were more funding for mental health care and addiction services. If people were making a living wage, crime and addiction would go down. We wouldn't have 40 million Americans living in poverty.
I'm not crazy about paying for college for all. I don't know about you, but it wasn't free when I was that age.
I know I may be the only one on this board who wants Bernie to win, but I'm not convinced that any of the others won't continue letting the big corporations and big money run this country, for the good of the 1%.

Mine feels the same way. He's afraid that Bernie will end up gutting the middle class (and the social security fund) to pay for his programs, worse than the other presidents have.

My fears about Bernie are that because he's labeled himself a socialist even though a Democratic Socialist, that he can't pull in enough voters to win the election. That term scares a lot of people even though I admit that most of them don't understand what it means. conniefromct , is right that we already have a lot of socialism going on, but people just don't recognize it as such. My second fear is that if he heads the ticket we will lose the House and lose even more in the Senate. Certainly Mitch McConnell will never let any of his ideas pass the Senate even if we kept the House, so for any actual change to take place we need to take both the House and the Senate. I think Bernie is right that there has to be a better way to manage healthcare. I have no problem with Medicare for all if Medicare picks up the 20% that it currently does not cover or there is another way to cover that, and if it includes a pharmacy plan. Like conniefromct , I'm not on board with free college for all. As a former community college teacher I know that there are a lot of students who simply don't apply themselves. Maybe they just aren't ready for college yet, or for other reasons. I also think that if we have that it should cover vocational/technical training as well. I do think college and/or vo-tech school should be affordable enough to be within everyone's grasp. If loans are needed to pay for it, then they should be low interest and there should be a way to also pay them back with service to the country and/or community. My main fear with Bernie is not his policies so much as that I fear he simply is not electable as President. Pat, thanks for telling me I am wrong. I really want to be wrong on that score!
