My second fear is that if he heads the ticket we will lose the House and lose even more in the Senate. Certainly Mitch McConnell will never let any of his ideas pass the Senate even if we kept the House, so for any actual change to take place we need to take both the House and the Senate. That's what I've been saying!

I know I don't post much, but wanted to let you all know that I will most likely be off line for the next few weeks. Dh and I (and younger dd) are leaving tomorrow for a couple of days in San Francisco, then off to Maui where our older dd will meet us. We'll be there for two weeks, then back through San Francisco. I'm hoping to leave all of this mess behind me and just concentrate on sun, sand and ocean.

luanne , enjoy! I love Maui. conniefromct, I read both articles. They don't say diddly about what I believe will be a voter backlash that will weaken Democratic influence in both Houses of Congress if Bern gets elected. Just my opinion. I think control of the Senate is paramount but I don't see it happening.

Luanne, I don't really mean that about Bernie being as bad as Trump.
I am voting against the slime in the WH.
If Roger Rabbit was the Dems choice he would get my vote.
I don't think votes count as much as money does these days. But, that's just me.
Have a wonderful time!

conniefromct , thanks for sharing the articles. I read them both. I am still hesitant about Bernie and possible repercussions, but I don't seem to understand politics at all these days. I once thought I did, but conventional wisdom seems to have flown completely out the window leaving me totally perplexed and shaking my head in wonderment. We'll see how well Bernie does as he moves into more moderate states. One thing that makes it hard to tell what will happen with primaries is that they usually only draw those who are really into watching politics. Many voters don't bother to vote in the primaries, and if the weather is bad, etc. that's a good excuse for many to skip. So I'm not sure primaries always give a true picture of how the general election will unfold. And as we all learned last time around, polls definitely can't be trusted to show a true picture. If they were accurate we wouldn't have this JA in the WH now. I hope if he gets the nomination that Bernie can win, and that he can bring a blue wave along with him. Whoever gets the nomination, they can be assured of my vote. Not that it will matter as TN will go Republican so when it gets to the EC my vote will be meaningless.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas's wife is in charge of providing the list of people who are not loyal to JA to the JA in the White House. So then he can purge & whittle down those around him. Jeez! What's wrong with this picture.

I read the articles about Bernie. I think young people are amazing. Obama was an outsider Trump was an outsider Kerry Hilary did not win. Young people voted for Jill Stein or not with Hilary/ The future is with them. If young people Africn Americans Latinx other working people come out it I dont think Bernie is any worse than others for not winning the senate/ I am down on Pete and Bloomberg/ Biden doesn't appeal to young people/ I like Biden better than the rest of the lot besides Bernie who is growing on me. I saw a interview with Paul Krugman who hates Bernie saying he's a socialist when he is really FDR in 1944. Krugman says he is a social democrat and he believes Bernie isn't radical at all but the New Deal and those in 1947 when we almost passed national health insurance.

I dont think Bernie is any worse than others for not winning the senate/ The Senate is a lost cause IMO. I'm talking about the House. If that goes, Katie bar the door. And their elections come around a whole lot quicker than the Senate.

Gosh, I would love to have my picture taken in front of Taj Mahal. Even better, if it was a free trip since I couldn't afford to go there. Wonder who else wants a free trip to India even tho they could afford it. Jared & Ivanka! And lucky us, we get to pay for it. UGH! Makes me GAG!

Oh but surely there must have been something really important that Jared needed to solve there. I mean now that he's brought peace to the Middle East and solved all the other world problems he's been tasked with he probably has a lot of free time on his hands to help out with anything needed for India. Ivanka maybe needed a patent from India, so there you go with her need to be there. Aren't we lucky to have them there to free load and represent us? Speaking of taxpayer costs, I saw a meme yesterday about how Bernie will be able to pay for his policies . . . he doesn't play golf like the JA so that will be a huge savings right there.

As for Bernie, while he's not my favorite for the nomination I do have to stand up for him about the kerfluffle over his comments about Cuba. I don't see anything wrong with what he said or what I have seen clips of him saying. Literacy is a good thing regardless of who brought it about. From what I have read, Cuba evidently has a very good healthcare system too. Saying those things are good doesn't mean he's saying Castro is good for the country. But I see where the panic in the party is coming from as Florida has a strong anti-Castro population. Also since Bernie's self-proclaimed Democratic Socialism is already being compared to communism by many people, this just gives more ammunition for that. So saying that probably wasn't the best move he could have made. Of course comparisons to communism could be made for rooting out "disloyal" government workers and purging them as well, but we all know that comparison is not likely to be made.
Who's planning to watch the debate tonight? I will be watching.
