Well I was going to post thoughts on a couple things but if that's considered a "conflict" I guess I'll move on.

wildcat  Feel free to post....so we can "discuss"!!! Ditto! I want to cut out for myself 1. Obsessing over the minutiae (sp?) 2. Comparing myself and my progress to others 3. Overeating at night 4. Feeling like I must eat every last point 5. Not planning meals 6. Not allowing for treats within reason 7. Not looking for healthier alternatives 8. Not taking advantage of everything WW and SP has to offer because hey, I'm still paying for this 9. Self doubt

newheavensearth2 I love your list! I spent a lot of time last year being frustrated with the new SP but now I've accepted it. That said, #4 (eating every point) is something I dropped. I'm not going to eat 2 points at 9 pm just so I can get the silly blue dot on my phone. Some days I'm just not as hungry. Also, I'm pretty strict with my treats but why is it I can eat 1 Christmas cookie and it seems my weight jumps a whole pound! How is that possible? My theory is I've cut back on the sugar so much this year so if I have one sweet item, my body really reacts to it. That may just be me but I've been so afraid of the Christmas cookies this year.

That may just be me but I've been so afraid of the Christmas cookies this year. I noticed the scale jump too! Even if it is perfectly planned within points it still happens. And I caught myself shuffling around serving sizes for food I wasn't even hungry for just to get minimum 28 pts. I told myself I didn't want to eat when not hungry, so this just went against it. I'm going to just leave the leftover points alone if its late and I really don't need them.

wildcat,Please feel free to post. It's good to get everyone's viewpoints on this list.I don't think all points in the article fits everyone. All of them didn't fit me either. I also don't eat every single SP I get.I didn't put myself on maintenance b/c that's way too many SP for me.If I'm not hungry between meals or after dinner I don't eat just to get all the SP in.I do like to plan a healthy snack at least once a day though.

I do think the Popsugar list makes some valid points. On the other hand there are things you have to do to be healthy adult. If you don't change your diet because you don't like the taste of healthy (less saturated fat, salt sugar) foods then how will you ever learn to like healthier foods? I am not saying force kale down your throat if you don't like it but you have to learn to eat more greens/veggies for example. Maybe try a new one each week.
I agree you should do an exercise you enjoy. However, some things you just need to do to be healthy. You may not want to walk faster on the treadmill or bike on a high level to get into a cardio heart zone. However, you need to exercise your heart. And sure it's a pain to fit stretch and lifting weights into a busy schedule but again there are things you need to do. We don't say I don't feel like brushing my teeth every day because it isn't fun. You do it because you need to do it and over time it becomes a healthy habit. As the commercial says, Just Do It. That said, I do take some awesome classes at the Y and it does motivate me to keep on. Though after class I still hit the weights and cardio even if it isn't a complete joy and I may want to quit after 10 minutes but I make myself do more. I don't give myself the option to quit. And to be honest I never regret a workout after I am done. I do try to make it more pleasant with audio books or music. I've read that when doing cardio the first 5 minutes are the hardest and I find that to be true. Also having a Fitbit and seeing what others steps always gets me moving.
For me, the list was a a bit too much of a pass to continue on with bad habits because of feelings. It's not always about how you feel but what you need.
By the way, I am a daily scale person, too. It helps me to keep things under control. If I see the scale start to creep up a few pounds it much easier to put the breaks on some bad food habit and get back on track quickly then to deal with a big weight gain later on.
I do like #1 a lot. I think when we mediate you can see how much negative garbage runs though your mind unconsciously.
# 4 -- I don't know about this. If I don't like my arms, for example, doing targeted weights for arms will improve the situation. If I need to improve balance or leg strength, targeting that area will help a lot.
#7. I have to be mindful of calories, saturated fat, sugar and sodium. I am a big label reader. It's what got me to a healthy weight.
#8. Totally on board with mediation. I am a newbie and don't do it regularly but I am trying. I even love the mediation we do in some of my yoga and stretch classes. It's all good.
I'm not knocking the list. I follow Popsugar myself on Facebook. Just adding my few cents to the discussion.

I didn't post this thread from popsugar.com to create a conflict.I also track points, weigh and measure my food and weigh every day.I am accountable to myself but don't feel obsessive either.I didn't say I agreed with each point of the article. Oh, please don't take my comments as being a conflict. I enjoy reading stuff from other sites and ideas and enjoy discussing and debating the specifics. No conflict involved at all. Just found it interesting to go through and comment on.

I think the important thing for each of us is to really think about what things we each need to do -- or not do -- to make this next year a better year. We are all different so each of us may need things that are different from someone else. That is why I like looking at those kinds of lists because I wonder if someone has thought of something I haven't thought of. One thing I try to do from time to time -- not just with regard to weight -- is to examine my own assumptions and my own tried and true stuff to see if something that once worked for me no longer works for me. So, for example, while I find daily weighing works well for me sometimes I step back and ask if it is still working well for me. And, sometimes I change my mind or try something different (although my attempt to not weigh confirmed that, for me, I need to weigh often).

I find weighing daily helps me more too Kitty.I only use the once a week WI for doing online only but I also like the daily accountability to myself. There are definitely things that work for me that may not work for anyone else and what works for others may not work for me.That's why we are all unique individuals and there is no one diet fits all.
