June - Happy birthday in Heaven to your dad. Glad you were comforted going over the cards and that your mom is doing surprisingly well at the nursing home. It lifts the burden off of you and your sublings. I have an eggplant on the grill at the moment to make into baba ghanouj LOL on the margarita Bee. Glad you had fun out. Becky - Glad the time is passing quickly. Waiting is so hard. Sorry you didn't sleep well Ann. At least you don't have much going on. Love your creativity with greens and other veggies Cathy. I just do the olive oil, lemon, parsley and chopped grape tomatoes with salt, pepper, garlic. Adding baba ghanouj to the mezze. While I can make it, we have such good brands of hummus available I don't bother. MJ - Glad the community is supportive. That young man should be as well prepared as is possible to join. Battling debilitating sadness. Seeing the ferals, walking in cold sunshine and prayers are helping. I will walk with purpose and prayer again at lunch. This too will pass.

Back at work Monday. Laken has been ill all weekend and just tested positive for the flu! Thank God I had my flu shot - hope it is still working! I had it in November. DH has never taken one - ever. He is so stubborn. June, Great big hugs coming your way. I know how close you were with your Dad. You had him a long time and that sure is a blessing. Bee, glad you had that margarita hope you rested well Becky, I pray things will go well for DN tomorrow. You are such a sweet Auntie Ann, I'm also not a fan of underwire bras. I went to bed early and if that alarm clock had not chimed this morning I could have slept on LOL Cathy, Oh my goodness...Scotland sounds like such a nice trip and something to help keep you on track so you can move and be active and feel great! Susi, sending a great big hug to you, too and prayers. Hang in there

LaDonna Thanks. I was blessed really and truly.
Hope that Laken feels better soon! R& I both get flu shots. And I try to wash my hands, dry them, and then apply sanitizer at school.

We both got our flu shots also. Not a fan but our PCP strongly requested that we get them. I'm happy we did.
LaDonna I hope Laken feels better ((hugs))

So much for my laid back day. Carl was out paying Spectrum our internet provider and ran into a plumber in line. We've been thinking of having our hot water heater looked at or replaced. They guy offered to come and take a look at it. In trying to drain it, it he noticed that it was all rusty at the bottom. Thank God Carl followed his gut feeling. They guy pulled it out and is in the process of installing a new one. When he's done we will have to deal with the 'mess'. Sheesh......but at least it didn't blow and flood our home. For that I'm most grateful and will continue to count my blessings Sending Carl out 'on his own' can run into added expenses LOL.......

I'm sorry Laken has the flu. Hope she gets over it quickly. Glad you had your shot. It may be an added expense Ann, but it would have been worse if you hadn't caught it in time. I never used to get it until Kathy was in the hospital. Now I get that and I got the pneumonia shot.

Susi I so agree. He's still here working on it. Hopefully it will be all one and done soon. It wouldn't be so bad if I were well rested! Isn't it always the way? I never got the shots either. Now I get the flu shot each year and already had shingles and pneumonia. Carl does also. Better safe than sorry. Just waiting for Carl to get home from the bank so that we can pay him.

June, having worked in the school system for the past 20 years hand washing is something that is just second nature to me as well. I don't use a whole lot of hand sanitizer but will if good old soap and water isn't available.
Ann, thank goodness for Carl adding to the expenses just this once! Glad it was caught in time.
Susi, thanks, I've not gotten the pneumonia shot before but may next year.

LaDonna I prefer good ol' soap and water, but I also use the hand sanitizer as well. Our local supermarket has a display of them when you enter the store, where the shopping carts are, and also in produce and meat departments. I guess they want to cover it all Not sure, but I think pneumonia shot is age related....but don't quote me.

I believe it is as well Ann except in cases of compromised systems.

Ann Thanks for the prayers for my DN.I am looking forward to being on the other side of surgery.I'm not sure just how we will manage because we still haven't gotten our car fixed so will be riding in the PU on the days I have to get out after a couple of weeks.Kenneth is concerned the car would break down on the way to mechanic so not sure where that is going yet.
June I found plenty of groceries. They just weren't on sale.LOL. Their ad doesn't change until Wednesday.
Cathy Great goals and I love your mantra. Thanks for the good wishes for DN and me.
Ann I'm sorry you didn't get a good nights sleep.Kenneth takes naps in the afternoon and can sleep fine.I'm not like that.I haven't tried underwire bras because they look so uncomfortable. The Bali soft cup is fine for me.
Susi I agree waiting is hard but they have to go through insurance which makes it longer.I am so sorry for your sadness.Continued prayers and (((hugs))).

LaDonna I'm sorry Laken has the flu.I hope she gets over it quickly.I'm glad you already had the flu shot.Kenneth was stubborn like that about flu shots years ago until we both had the flu at the same time.He has gotten one every year since then. Thanks for the prayers for DN.She is my only niece and she has been through far too much. She was also the flower girl at our wedding so she will always be special to me.
Ann I'm so glad Carl was talking to a plumber.Hopefully there won't be too much of a mess.
Yes the pneumonia shot is age related.I got one last year along with the flu shot and I had to be 65 to get it unless like Susi said there are circumstances. There are 2 parts to it.I'm supposed to get the second part this yr when I get the flu shot.Need to get the shingles vaccine but I want Kenneth to get it first since he has had the shingles and he was miserable.
