Hi all, ann, I’m so sorry for your friend with cancer. Talk about a very tough situation now having to deal with a horrible disease and being afraid to go to hospitals etc. I’ll send them all my thoughts and prayers. My good friend started her first chemo treatment for stage 3 cancer Monday . She’s very upbeat so far even though she’s a single mom with two teens and one with autism. I really admire her and I’m sending frequent notes and cards. She’s relieved that her chemo will be in a clinic and that in 6 months or so, she’ll have surgery. Im listening to folk songs from the 79s...Cat Stevens and the like. I was sad about Kenny Rogers passing away! Harry Chaplin is singing now! Cats in the Cradle. DH has gone in search of distilled water at Walgreens and possibly Shaws grocery store. I have searched online to see who may have it for our CPap machines and it seems that everyone is out. We even looked into buying a machine to make our own distilled water! How crazy is that! But we figured we might have no alternative.
I am so thankful for my eye doctor who has already repaired the glasses I stepped on the other day and call me to pick them up in a droobox outside his office. He’s a saint. Did I tell you all the I stepped on my glasses? Ugh.
And I hope that you enjoyed your hood walk and you too Sue. I am like both of you. I don’t like heading out there, but I feel so much better when I do!
DH is home discouraged. No distilled water! And I had checked on line but I suppose that they flew off the shelves before he got there despite the stores saying they had a few in stock.
Have a a peaceful night.

Hello Friends!
We made our trip safely with only one stop to gas up and for me to use the bathroom (because coffee!) and we wore gloves. The quick stop was pretty much deserted except for the cashier, since we left home very early. It was nearly 80 degrees as we packed up at the camp, so we got hot and sweaty, but I only drank a bottle of water after we headed home so I wouldn't have to stop again. We didn't have room for everything, so I had to pick and choose. I took things that were dear to my heart--my mom's wall clock, a lighthouse pillow from a now-deceased friend, my favorite lighthouse quilt--and a sampling of my many lighthouses. I had to sit and remind myself that they are only things and not so important in the big view of current affairs. We arrived home to cooler temps (63) to unpack and managed to get everything stashed away.
More sad news to report. While we were at the camp, a fellow choir member called to tell me our organist was discovered by her husband dead on the floor this morning. We are all in a state of shock. Tuesday evening, when she was texting me about singing for the funeral on Wednesday, the last thing she said was, "Jesus, I trust in YOU!!!" Our kids were classmates, so I know she was roughly my age. I don't know the cause of death. She was a cancer survivor. Sadly, no funerals are allowed right now, so she will be buried with only immediate family able to attend.
I talked with DSIS and DD2 on my way home. DSIS was told by her employer to get anything she needs from her office this weekend. We suspect the governor will order shelter in place by Monday, another reason DH and I wanted to get the camp cleared out today. Her younger son, an electrician, got laid off this week, but after 2 days was called back to work as one of the 25 out of a workforce of 300 that were called back. I suspect his being unmarried with no children played a part, in addition to his excellent work ethic. DD2 has been able to stock up on all her needs and is prepared to shelter in place in her apartment. Dee (DSIS' VBF) called after we got home to ask for help, so we will help her move from her low-rent housing to her family home here in the village tomorrow. I am very relieved! We will try to keep our distance and will travel in separate vehicles.
I am tired and sad and anxious and at times, very fearful, when I think about who (and what) may not survive this. I am trying to remember what my friend said, "Jesus, I trust in YOU!" I'll be back to post tomorrow, when I feel more positive and less maudlin.

Pam, I’m so sorry about your choir friend. So sad. Glad your DS friend is moving nearby so good to help. Glad you made it home safe and sound from the camp house. I can’t imagine your 80:degrees right now as we have chilly weather back and maybe snow Monday.
I had my doggie walk walk and then we had leftover chili for dinner. Tomorrow I will cook the turkey breast. Sue, have you done it in the instant pot or just the crock pot? Looking for ideas. Thanks.
have a great night all!

Good morning all. Still quite saddened by our neighbor Steve. Keeping his family and all of you in my thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
Sorry...that's all I've got for today.
Take care all!

Happy Sunday! I slept nearly 9 hours last night and woke in a better frame of mind. I had a cup of coffee and then joined an online Mass conducted by one of DD2's former classmates. We are very proud of our Father from the village and he gave an excellent homily. My priest did not do an online Mass as there are several available, but he did post a homily which I will listen to later. I helped Dee load up her car and my SUV and got it all hauled into the house for her to sort through later. Her plan is to call and tell her dad she is in the house, but sometimes the stepmom won't let her talk to him, in which case she will keep quiet. Her excuse when stepmom finally finds out will be, "I tried to tell dad but you wouldn't let me talk to him." Technically, the house has belonged to Dee and her siblings for years, since his usufruct ended when he remarried. They have just never pushed the matter and also allowed him to continue receiving a portion of the income from rental property that had been their mom's. He is in his 90's and in deteriorating health, so no one wanted to upset him in any way. I am relieved that we got her moved, as the Governor has issued a shelter at home order which takes effect tomorrow at 5:00pm and continues until April 13. I am super relieved that this will mean DD1 will be working from home now. Not sure what this means for DSIL's business, however. This is his busiest time of year. DH wandered around the house in his socks and his bandage slipped and leaked, so I had to mop all the floors again. He has agreed to keep slippers on at all times. I have certainly gotten my exercise today. I had a chef salad for lunch and have a pork roast in the crock pot with root beer. I'm going to do pulled pork sandwiches with BBQ sauce and air fries for dinner. Not sure what veggie to go with. DH placed an online order with Walmart and had better luck, so we now have enough milk in the freezer to last a while. Ann I will keep your neighbor Steve in prayer.

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
Happy Sunday! Today marks one week since the last time I ventured out anywhere. I am looking forward to grocery shopping on Tuesday morning at Meijer Senior Hours of 7-8 a.m. The store will be freshly cleaned and restocked.
Judy ~ I am afraid I am no help with the turkey breast. We buy Jennie-O ones that go "from freezer to oven" and are encased in a baking bag. So that is the only way I have cooked them. Let me know what you decide to do and how it turns out, will you?? The Jennie-O gravy packet is very good, however.
Pam ~ Good job on getting your stuff from Camp and bringing it home. Glad you had an uneventful trip. So sorry to hear about your organist! Glad you got everything you need before the shelter in place begins. I am also doing a pork loin in the crock pot tomorrow.
Ann ~ So sorry to hear about your neighbor's DH. This is such a terrible time to be diagnosed with anything! A friend of mine on Vancouver Island (B.C.) has a DH who has been undergoing cancer treatments for the better part of a year and they have been suspended due to coronavirus. I will keep Steve in prayer.
We've had a very interesting day. We took a DOR from exercise as my left hip is bothering me. I've used some Icy Hot and done a bit of stretching. We had Bagel Thins with LF cream cheese and bacon for breakfast. For lunch we had some soft rolls (from a restaurant) with XL ham from Costco. I am warming up the leftover stuffed peppers from Costco for supper.
We watched Flashpoint on NBC because it is hosted by our favorite local newscaster; then watched a sermon by Dr. Charles Stanley (In Touch Ministries). He was known to me because I have heard him before and read some of his books. I also dug out a book called "25 Surprising Marriages" which is a "Faith-Building Stories from the Lives of Famous Christians". I read some of it years ago; so started over and read the first one today which was the story of John & Polly Newton. These are all things we don't do every day, so it gave us a "breath of fresh air". This afternoon we binge-watched "The Deputy" and now only have 2 episodes left. We had watched it once and liked it, but it conflicted with other shows we watched, so it got left behind.
We are now waiting for supper to warm up and then will watch the evening news. Since we haven't seen any all day, it will all be new for us. Hope everyone had a wonderful day!!

Hi all This will be just a quick end of the day note because I just finished watching Outlander, one of my favorite shows on the STARZ network. Our bone in Turkey breast was about 6 pounds and it came out the best I’ve ever made it in the instant pot. I seasoned it with Italian seasonings, oil, smoked paprika, garlic and a few other spices plus a little salt and pepper and it cooked for six minutes a pound so in about 36 minutes. It was was wonderful . I baked a couple potatoes and roasted some asparagus, made a gravy and served with cranberry sauce. We have plenty left for more than one meal. Other than that, today was a very lazy day for us. It was on the chilly side, though sunny, but we didn’t venture out too much except for a quick trip to Whole Foods to buy distilled water that were they were holding at the customer service desk for me. It’s really hard to believe that a full week has gone by that we’ve pretty much been sheltered at home. We talked to our son and daughter-in-law in New Jersey who are sheltering in place and it was fun to do some FaceTime with the baby watching him eat his dinner. We also talked to our daughter in California and I had fun virtually playing with the kids and coloring along with them to pass the time. It’s such a weird reality today with no traffic on the streets, the stores are closed except for the groceries and the general quietness that I’ve noticed when I have had to go out. No one is talking nor they making eye contact. It’s as though we all are wondering if the other person has the virus. So strange. I can’t help but wonder how long this will go on and the uncertainty of it all, but the best we can do is just take it day by day and hope for the best.
I’m glad you were all doing well. Pam, glad you successfully moved your friend into her new home and I’m sorry that she has such a difficult situation with her father. It must be so hard to have his wife not allow her to speak to him. Glad she’s in a safer place and you’re a good friend to help her out.
Sue, it sounds like you and your husband had a peaceful day and that your shopping plans for Tuesday are all set. My friend went early this morning at 6 AM to our Stop & Shop for the senior hours, and she found most things in stock and the crowds much lighter than she was used to during regular hours. I think that is the seniors get used to the new hours, it won’t be as mobbed as it was initially around here.
Ann, hope you had a good day, too.
Tomorrow morning I’ll be back on the drawing board doing my work projects, and actually I’m quite thankful to have something to keep my mind occupied. I like to work and I have plenty to keep me busy even at home. I’ll be in touch. Have a great night everyone.
