If I write it down maybe, just maybe, this day will turn more SPRING like!!  Trying to remain optimistic - the SNOW didn't stick around long but the COLD temps are still hovering making you catch your breath when outside. Add to that the strong winds (gusts up to 40 mph!) yesterday and it was rough out there! Today seems calmer and we might hit 40 degrees! I didn't work much yesterday - I tried to do some professional reading but kept getting distracted. It was hard. Then I caved and called Cheryl to check on her - that conversation was good as she KNOWS these people I work with and if was good to have a listening ear to share my frustrations and just vent. Queen Bee was NOT the high quality teacher she pretends she used to be before begging to be part of Administration - Cheryl shared some funny stories about HER when she used to have to observe her classroom. Oh - someone asked, Queen Bee is only 50 yr old but you are right, she is so rigid and full of anxiety and I was just shocked she didn't know how to save a pdf to her computer! OMG - Thursday was a rough rough day for work. But I did end it around 4:30 responding to an upset Parent over the news PA Schools would remain closed - she questioned whether or not her 2nd grader would be promoted to 3rd grade. A common question, one we anticipated and I wrote the FAQs including this one. I noticed NOT ONE co-worker replied to my shared response. Whatever. I really need to "Let it Go" |

Linds is home. She arrived around 6:00 PM. She has joined WW! I'm happy for her but was surprised she wouldn't share this as we both could have gotten a FREE month or something if she had let me refer her as a friend. But that's my girl, usually private and a bit secret with herself. She rolls her eyes and calls me, "Coach" if I offer any pointers so I'll just smile and wish her well on her journey. I know she's embarrassed she has had to turn to WW in the first place - turning 21 has come with consequences of not living a healthy lifestyle - but she is not alone and realizes it. Our next door neighbor Maddy has been doing WW too since she encountered the 'Freshman 15" being at college and gaining more weight than believable.
Body Image is such a sensitive topic. Gary just tip toes around the issue but quietly asks, "Have you talked to Linds about her weight?" I keep assuring him it's being addressed. But will take time. She has been ordering "Hello Fresh" since January and was hoping by cooking healthy meals at home this would help her - not much unless she follows portion control, which is what she's learning now. It's all good and I'll encourage her to Move More by joining me on walks. Carly is so happy Lindsey is home! She talks to her all the time and together have already planned their Daily Burn workouts.

Good morning Christine ~ Thanks for starting us off today - I've been up a while... not ready to get the day started - yet! Already ? 37 degrees, (not warm) but the sun is trying to shine...let's hope this is a springlike day out here!
I have 2 pies to make today, and will get my potatoes and squash ready for tomorrow - other than that - nothing on the agenda, unfortunately! I truly NEED to get some things done around here... but by the weekend - I just don't care?!??!?
Fell apart yesterday afternoon - not sure why, or what exactly "did it"... early to bed to watch DVDs - just felt the need to be alone!
Meanwhile, the laundry will get done as usual today - hoping after I make the pies, etc., that I will open my new mop and bucket and sweep and mop the kitchen floor! We'll see.
Going to refill my coffee and catch up here... not sure when Tracy & Zoë will be arriving, but can't start the cooking until Ken heads to work - can't share the kitchen this morning! LOL ♥

Gabrielle: YAY for getting out for a run yesterday with Ed...what did he have to do to your car?? UGH Yeah, those webinars sound very "dull"... so glad you had yesterday off!
I might need to get back to my morning "grateful list" as well... I am finding I revert back to the "resent" rather the "thankful" side of things!
Interesting... I was laying in bed last night - not falling asleep - and felt like my heart was "racing"... and I do know my thoughts were not the "thankful" ones! I think tonight I will try to grab my journal and write some things down - like I used to do before bed... can't hurt at this point!
LOL Well, IF my co-workers would refrain from emailing me to REMIND me that they are "off next week", yeah, that would be nice! I already KNOW... I do not need to be "reminded" every Friday that next week I am doing their work! UGH And why do I still let it get to me???
Yea... I was thinking last night - I was kind of wishing I HAD taken some orders for pies... it would have gotten me into baking last night - and finishing today... given me something to "do"...
Oh Mary is doing GREAT! Five weeks out of surgery and she can climb her stairs... and sleep in her own bed! She can climb into the tub - so she can shower at home. She can get a 106* (degree) with her knee... whatever that means! Whatever it is she was pretty proud of that the other day! She can also walk outside - up the street, just past the church... which made her very happy. No walker any longer, but a cane. She still has a long way to go - and it still "hurts", but she says it's more the "tight skin" from the inflammation - but MAN she showed us her leg last week and it was a heck of a lot less swollen then before!!
She is very happy - and will actually get in the car and ride to the store now! She won't go IN the store - but at least she doesn't mind getting in and out of the car once in a while now!
Yes - she is very grateful that her surgery was just before "all Hell broke loose"! As around here all "elective" surgeries have been postponed... she'd hate to be waiting for a reschedule at this point!
I didn't take a 1/2 day yesterday - BUT - I didn't sit at my "desk" very much in the afternoon! I did a couple things around here... figured my work was done for the day - but hey, others are home not working, so I took yesterday as my half day - while clocked in!

Sue: Glad Jason can sleep in once in a while! Oh gosh, our weather yesterday was AWFUL! One minute sunny and "nice" the next snowing - and windy... then sunny but windy... then rain! UGH I was having a hard time keeping up! Hope Jason got to mow! I am waiting - for enough of a break to have my yard guy come and do the spring cleanup!
Yes Sue... start saving and planning, it was the best decision we ever had and the best money we have ever spent! We had talked about doing another full family trip (maybe not Disney) for our 45th... now I am not sure... just can't even think about a trip without Matt ♥
Well our weather has shifted I guess... I see we are looking at sunny and 50/60 degrees today and tomorrow! More rain and wind Monday but then Tuesday on looks like quite a bit if sun! MAYBE??? That will "help"?
Yes Sue, the depression that some of us suffer from - is definitely not getting better these days! I am considering contacting my Dr to see if she can reach back in my files and re-prescribe something I took years ago! I do NOT want to have to go in for an appointment... Maybe Sarah having the kids home - and helping them with schoolwork will actually help her through this...
LOL I called for pizza last night, and he told me we ONLY take cash and checks! No cards accepted... no matter for me - I wrote a check... but I thought that was odd - in this day and age!
Yeah - I guess other than notifying IT no one cares I emailed my GLs to home... it doesn't even matter to me at this point! It's done... I won't do it again... but like you said they do need to cut us some slack every now and again! Oh I guess it makes sense - that's what our bank is doing too... Deb in then Debbie in - they share the weeks... everything about this is just odd! I am over it - have been for a week or so now... but it doesn't matter what I think/want/need...
Yeah - looks like Ken has found a new grocery company - hoping it all works out well... just one more headache that could have been avoided!
I cannot even think about this going past May...

Christine - I too am hoping for the springlike weather..but still at 39 here!
So glad you had Cheryl to talk with and provide some distraction for you! Good luck with helping parents navigate this... sounds like you might be on your own with this one! UGH!
YAY for Linds coming home! Oh dear... sorry she needs WW, but so good that she acknowledged it and is working on it!! Carly will be a big help to her too - I bet! I think being home, and the tree of you girls ALL working towards healthier eating will help all of you!! {{{hugs}}} as you deal with her father! LOL
OK Ken just left - so I can have the kitchen! Will go get pie crust started... then when Tracy & Zoë arrive, they may want to help. We do have eggs ready for coloring later...
I got Zoë's basket filled and in a bag yesterday - put Eden's stuff in a bag to give her "someday"... that may have been what triggered the meltdown yesterday?
I KNOW It is what it is and I need to get over it...  Just not sure how to do that!
For now, I have things to take my mind off it all... I think this weekend is a minute by minute thing for me...

Morning Christine, Carole and all to come....it's a cold one here in Glenville...only 34° when I got up at 7:00 but at least the sun is trying to shine...a bit overcast but the sun is peeking out brightly at times!! Got my 2nd cup of coffee so ready to visit for a bit....
LOL Christine...if writing it down made it happen we would all be writing SPRING down is giant letters!! After those couple of gorgeous days it makes days like this even more miserable! Thankfully we didn't get any snow but the cold temps and winds were crazy!! Jason tried to work cleaning out the garage with the door up but because of the fence along the driveway the winds were swirling around and into the garage blowing stuff everywhere so he had to make do with the door down. He's hoping to finish today and be able to keep the door up this time...the winds have definitely died down but not stopped yet!! At least the howling is over....
Christine...glad you didn't do too much work on your day OFF!! Glad you got to chat to Cheryl and vent...having someone who knows the people you work with is great because she "knows the circus" you have to function in at work! Ah, so Cheryl knows the "Queen Bee" from her teacher days, eh?? I'm sure that was enlightening and explains why she is "less than capable" of the position she holds! Yes, it was me that asked how old QB was....for as long as she has been in teaching and admin, how can you know know how to save a PDF to the computer....that shocks me as well!!
Yes, I'm sure many parents are wondering if all the kids will be moved to the next grade in the fall....honestly, I can't see how you and make an entire nation repeat a grade, especially with the continues online/virtual supplemental teaching that is being done in pretty much all districts. I'm sure kids will be needing a different start to the next school year and there will be a little bit more "review" than usual but I'm sure most districts will have a plan in place to make this VERY STRANGE situation and transition to the next grade a success.
Glad Linds is home...I'm sure there is peace of mind for all of you that she is not alone in the apartment complex at this crazy time...hopefully she was smart and did indeed "stay at home" while away and there will be no germs arriving with her!! WTG to Linds for taking the steps to join WW...yes, the "Freshman 15" is not uncommon for many as the healthy meals planned by mom are not available and "comfort foods" or cheap foods becomes the norm for college students on a budget!!
Ah yes...body image of any young girl is a touchy subject...I know my girls have both gone through stages of "chunkier than normal" and both have been able to reign things in before they got like me and just didn't care....that is one thing I have never brought up with either of them but if they mentioned it to me, I do offer suggestions, different choices, etc but I won't be the mom, like my DM, that nags about it! If I heard once, I heard it a thousand times "you'd be a pretty girl if you would just lose some weight"!! NOT what a girl wants to hear!!
Yes Christine...that is the biggest key....eating healthy is great but if you are eating a larger portion than you need then you still have more calories in than out!! Hey, now if Gary doesn't want to walk with you and Colby Girl you could have a walking buddy and I'm so glad the girls are planning the "daily burn" workouts together. I'm sure being at home in a more focused toward health environment will help her on her journey!! WTG Linds!
Carole....yes, I too have been up for awhile...woke up and just wouldn't fall back to sleep so I got up...didn't want to toss and turn to wake Jason...he is enjoying 3 days to catch up on sleep so I don't want to be the reason he's up earlier than he wants to be! Hope your day does end up more springlike...we are to hit 55° with less wind so definitely better than yesterday. Jason plans to mow here and at the lot today...depending on what he gets into, he may head down to the lot and get things done there and end up mowing here tomorrow...who knows, it's just another day for us!

Good morning!
Well, I am glad that it is Saturday, but it's not quite the same as the "normal" Saturday, is it? I am sorry to hear about the cold weather moving in for a lot of you. I couldn't believe it when I looked at the temp at 5:15 am--it was 50 degrees! That has been close to our high temp for about a week now! So we might be getting sunshine and it is right in time. I am going to check to be sure the weather is good for the next week and put the cushions out on the furniture on the deck. It will be a NICE change to be able to sit outside...can't wait. It will spur me to clean up the deck too.
Christine: YAHOO, Linds is home!!! So happy for all of you! Just what the family needed. Hey, good for her for joining WW. I first joined when I was about 24 and it was a good thing because it really helped me to be a member after the boys were born. Healthy eating is such a GREAT life skill and how nice that she has told you and can openly get support now. Sounds like the whole family will be feeling on top of their health--wonderful! So glad that you reached out to Cheryl and got that relief of a good conversation with a friend. Also glad that you had some time yesterday. Is your school "taking" a Spring break? Our schools in the county had this last week planned for it so they really did "take it off". Teachers had it in their contract as well...I think that the timing was good--we need to take our time to disengage from this challenging work....rest our minds and our bodies to re-energize for the weeks ahead. These last weeks of the school year are always hard...this year will not be any different (I think). Hope that you have a good day and that the "lacrosse" practice has settled down for now?

Carole: Oh.....I am sorry that yesterday was a rough day. I would expect that, regardless of our current sheltering situation, you would have rough days, but this all makes it even rougher. Glad that you recognized that you needed time to yourself. Yes, do reach out to see if there is something that you might take to help with this. When it affects your activities this much, it is time. Hugs to you my friend. Just reading your words about starting the pie crust, Zoe coming, and coloring eggs, I can pick up on a positive turn! So glad that you have that to look forward to! My "car"....did I tell you about my birthday present last July? Can't remember....that is another story
Sue: I am getting ready to jump off here and get ready for my run to get out on the roads before too many cars are there. What kind of pies are you making today Carole?? Are they for Easter dinner tomorrow or are you delivering them to someone today?? Aside from making the Chicken Divan later for dinner I don't have anything on my agenda today either....just no motivation! I know I will putter and do a few things but not sure what it will be?? Have fun with that mop and bucket LOL, not sure I'd be excited for that one! 
Hugs to you Carole...yes, we all have times we just "fall apart" with no explanation of what might have pushed us "over the edge"...it happens and I'm glad you recognized you had to let it happen and take the time to let whatever feelings you were having go and work through them. Hope you are feeling better today! ♥♥♥ Will say that this week has been probably my toughest so far in this time of quarantine...not sure why?? It honestly felt good yesterday to share here what I was thankful for these days....I have found myself putting on a "happy, OK" front but getting angrier and more frustrated on the inside....yesterday I tried hard to let that go....thank you for mentioning it and making me look inside a bit....I truly needed it!
Yes Carole, I think that journaling your "grateful list" would a good thing...I know you had mentioned before that journaling does help you and with the added stresses and chaos now it will likely do the same for you now.... To be honest, I think many people are leaning more toward the "resent" vs "thankful" side of things these days....it's hard not to right now but I think the only way any of us are going to get to the other side of this quarantine is to try daily to think of at least one positive for the day!
Carole...maybe a few pie orders would have been good for you this year, kind of "normal" and would have given some purpose to the weekend....but then again depending on where you posted you could have been overwhelmed with orders that could have caused stress!! Kind of the "double-edged sword" kind of thing!
YAY Mary....that's great!! Being able to climb the stairs get into her own tub is a good thing! Doing the stairs is a GREAT strengthening exercise too...I know when I got back to work and had to finally do stairs it was tough for a while....living in a rancher I didn't do stairs, except for the occasional trip to the basement, for almost 3 months...I didn't have to!! Yes, keeping the cane fro now, especially when she goes outside is a good thing....glad she is doing so well!! Oh, the swelling does make it feel tight and that will continue to improve but it does "flare up" from time to time during the 1st year! Yes...I'm glad she got it done before this....two people at work had surgery scheduled that has now been postponed....who knows when it will be back on the schedule...Heck Margie's hip replacement was scheduled for May 1st and it's already cancelled!
I LOVE that you took your 1/2 day "on the clock" Carole...you are right! Everyone else is getting paid the same amount to do nothing and if your work was done....take advantage!!

Jason just got up and is planning his day....it's actually warming up fairly quickly and the sunshine is brighter and more consistent so I think he will head out as soon as he's done eating breakfast and doing his shoulder exercises. The winds are to pick up a bit later so he figures to get out now when the weather is the best! Our yard doesn't look too bad at this point and Jason had gotten out and did the "spring clean up" early so he could burn the twigs and clutter a few weeks ago....but if he doesn't mow soon, some of the long patches will be TOO long to get through with the mower so now it's just a "trim" to get everything back on "even" growing length!!
Carole...I only have 6 more car payments on the CR-V but will continue to "pay the car payment" as it is a direct deposit out of my check each payday!! It's only $260/month but in 2 years it will be about $6000 so that is a good start to the Disney trip....I know it will be WAY more than that but it's a start. In light of the current situation, it's hard to plan to save any extra right now...with no OT for either of us at this point and still not knowing for sure if I will have a job when this is over we need to be a bit frugal.
Oh my YES YES YES...the sun definitely helps the mood!! I actually said that to people last Monday....the weekend before it was rainy and miserable, people were trapped in their house all weekend and came to work miserable and cranky.....this past Monday after a GORGEOUS weekend around here everyone came to work happier and smiling...the sun truly does wonders for our moods!
Honestly, for both my girls the home-schooling is a real struggle....they both see their short-comings academically in their kids...for example Kellen struggles with math as Sarah did....she is trying to help him as I tried 25 years ago to help her as well and realizes it's harder than it looks and both are getting more and more frustrated. Hannah has a similar struggle with Kale when something "doesn't come easy" and he gets frustrated and starts to cry....I went through the same thing with her! I know they will both make it through and have been quick to reach out to teachers via email and Kellen has actually had a 1 on 1 Zoom meeting with his math teacher which really helped a lot.
WOW Carole...only cash or check at the pizza place?? That really is odd, especially this day and age....heck, even the Hot Dog Shop that was only cash for a long time takes debit/credit cards now!! I can only think of two places around here that are cash only and they are both ice cream places....

Yes Carole...you may be right...the thing that put you "over the edge" very well could have been putting together the Easter baskets, knowing that Eden would not be joining you tomorrow! Sometimes it's the littlest thing that brings on a meltdown! Hugs to you.... there is not right or wrong way to get over things...and I think the added loss of not having Matt here this year is likely amplifying emotions of loss and missing out on "traditions" as you know them....it will indeed be a tough weekend....the "first" of all things w/o Matt will tough, add the quarantine and it's REALLY different this year!
I know Pat, like me, is really struggling this Easter season without dad and he has been gone for 4 years now...she texted yesterday that she was thinking of me as she knows that certain times I struggle w/o dad and this is definitely one of those times. As I mentioned yesterday...Easter was his favorite season of the church year.
Gabrielle...HAPPY SATURDAY!! I'm jealous of your 50° at 5:15am....10:20 here and only 47°!! But I guess after you week of cold temps you deserve a break!! Yes....get those cushions out so you can enjoy a break now and then in your work day to sit on the deck and do a little work or just "take a break"....remember, your co-workers are NOT working a 8+ hour day so cut yourself a little slack!
OK...either I missed something or you didn't tell us about your birthday last year Gabrielle....you got a car???

It sounds yummy and I see you can also do it with white beans....sounds like something I'll like and Jason will try and who know, might just like it too! He is usually open to new recipes even if it's something he's not used to eating! Thanks for the pepper tip...I added it to the comments when I pinned it!
I had a "be kind to Sue" day the other day....I was having a bad day and as the front door was open to let "spring in" there was a breeze blowing the mist from the diffuser by my computer right at the side of my head and it was annoying me...the smell was fine but feeling the mist hit my temple was pi$$ing me off! I know, petty! I was on the computer and decided to check Amazon so I searched for a diffuser stand.....I found the cutest thing...it arrived yesterday and it lifts the diffuser up about 6" so the mist now goes OVER my head and the bottom is a lazy Susan that holds 11 oils. It's perfect as I always have several bottles sitting beside this diffuser for my favorite combo blends....now it's all neat and in one place....the bottom is no skid so it stays secure in place...it's perfect! It takes up the same space but it's neater and serves the purpose of getting the mist away from my head! LOL! I really didn't "need" it and I could have used the $25 for something else but I wanted it and it made my day!! It arrived yesterday and I put it together and set it up immediately. I might actually get another one for the bedroom just to help keep the oils and diffuser neat and tidy!!
Anyway, later after getting that set up and setting up my spot for painting last night I was in a happier mood and I decided to get on Amazon and find some sort of art kits or something fun for the boys and send it to them just for something extra and fun to do while they are all quarantined for the rest of the school year. I needed a "be kind to Sue day" and I figure the girls and the boys will appreciate an added activity or project too! I found some fun 3-D puzzle kits that they have to color 1st then put together...there were 9 puzzles per kit so I figured it would occupy them for a few days anyway....it has a 3 Vehicles - Airplane, Train and Helicopter - 3 Animals - Butterfly, Horse and Elephant - 2 Houses and a BIG EIFFEL TOWER! It was just under $25 and thought the boys would enjoy it since they all love to color and do craft project and love puzzles.
Last night I had so much fun painting....add my new diffuser stand to my day and what started as a not so good day ended "almost normal"! Lacey did it as a FB live feed so we could only interact by commenting on the video and it was a lag....someone mentioned doing it on Zoom next time and we all agreed! That would be so fun!! She hopes to do another next week. I had gotten two different kits, the one she suggested and another with an easel and a few more paints and a canvas....so I should be ready to go next time. Since she always give us a "punch" toward a few class when we paint, she said if we do 3 "online" classes we will get a punch....the cost of 3 online is the same as 1 regular class since with the online we have to buy our own supplies. Guess this could be the start of my "painting in retirement" supplies! I have an easel, I have some brushes.....I'm still smiling!
OK...really need to think about doing something today....I haven't really been sitting here all morning, I've been up and down doing "this and that" but it's time to actually get up and be productive!!
