Welcoming in May and hoping it is better than April. May 1 or May Day is a pagan holiday halfway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. It celebrates spring and growing crops and flowers.
Linda, your “shady” deal cracked me up.
Have a good Friday.

That’s how I felt on Wednesday, Linda.
How is the plant sale going today, Karen? Are you feeling better with the kidney infection?
Liz, I hope you don’t have to stay too late tonight before you get to go home for the weekend.
Becky, it is probably better to stay at home Sunday and catch the services online. I hope you get the outbound therapy so you can workout on machines and build your strength up. I haven’t been brave enough to go to Walmart since early March.
Kathy, I think Iggy and I are staying put in May. The governor reversed his orders on face masks. Employees have to wear them but customers and clients do not. Boo!
Enjoy your Friday evening.

Thanks for the May Day start, Chele. Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit. Is your weather warming up today? How soon will they probably reopen Iggy's office away from home? Is his home office far enough from where you spend your days that you can get some freedom? That will be awful if you can't stock up for tornado season. You certainly don't need to be hit again like last year. But it happened in Chattanooga a few weeks ago, so it's possible. Mother Nature isn't going to cut us a break just because we are dealing with covid. I may have to get some vegan cheese and do a quesadilla, now that you have me in the mood for one. I don't have a panini grill, but got pretty adept at using a non-stick griddle. I plan to celebrate crop growing by working with my plants getting everyone fertilized and perhaps making my pathetic looking tomatoes perk up a bit. The tomatoes I got from the sale yesterday look amazing! I'll have to post a picture. Enjoy your warmer weather. Here as well. So, workers are the only potential threats in your retail system? I think that's pretty short sighted on the part of your governor, given that people don't seem to know how to social distance or follow directions.
Linda, we did assemble several pretty large orders yesterday and hope to get more from the public tomorrow. However, we will have to have at least one more sale because we have A LOT of plants. I know how you love Five Guys and it's been a while since you were there. LOL on the drug deal. I hadn't thought of cash in a zip lock. I want to stop at the fruit stand tomorrow and I usually pay with cash there. Wish I knew how much their berries are this year so I could arrange for exact change. LOL on using a wipe to wipe off the box of wipes. Such is life right now.
Will you watch both church services, Becky? I wonder how many people will be present at your church this Sunday, even with the diminished capacity. Is the other service you'll watch at the church you were thinking about switching to at one point before the surgery? Good job on the mile walk. I know how badly you need a challenge right now, so I hope you can get to the therapy center very soon so you can have a few sessions before they cut you loose. WOW on the county with such an increase in positive cases, after having just one. You have to wonder how much testing they were doing. I'll bet socially distancing in the WM check out line yesterday was difficult. Now that I think back, all the registers were open at mine yesterday.
Kathy, they just announced that the visitors' centers at the national park won't be open until a couple of weeks after the trails open next weekend. They had a segment on the Noon news about how everyone is having crazy dreams right now, so it's just not us. I had another one last night about Dale and I staying at an AirBnB with the crazy owner also being there. Not sure where that came from because we have never stayed at an AirBnB.
Enjoy your sunshine, Denise. What part of MI are you from? I lived in Toledo, OH, for a while and have been a University of Michigan football fan since the Bo Schembechler days. I worked for a summer at Cedar Point Amusement Park and made some friends there who were U of M students and they got me interested. That was back in the days when you wrote letters to friends because there were no computers and long distance calls were way too expensive. We stayed in touch well past college graduation but lost track at some point. When I lived in Toledo, I got admitted to grad school at U of M but didn't get to enroll because we moved to Austin, TX.
Liz, you made it to Friday. I know exhaustion has to be a way of life for you right now. Are you planning to do a staycation after things calm down to try to recharge?
Things have been a little weird with this UTI related to my Garmin. As you know from discussions between Becky and me, you know that Garmin measures intensity minutes, which is calculated from pulse rate and perceived stress level. I worked out on the bike Monday before I got sick and logged in 113 intensity minutes. From Tuesday through Thursday, I logged over 300 additional intensity minutes just by being sick. Am I the only one who finds that strange? I did a rowing workout this morning and gained another 80 minutes so I'm close to 600 for the week now and the week doesn't end until Sunday. I got some feedback on the plant sale from one of the MGs this morning. He had a lot of positive things to say, but noted that not everyone with public contact was wearing face coverings. I knew exactly who he was talking about and it didn't surprise me. All I can do is suggest, but I hoped they would comply. The two in particular I know he was talking about are also officers who should be setting an example. The master gardener who called me said he asked about a mask and the reply was that she was practicing her immunity. She also posted on FB the video from the 2 urgent care docs in California who did a "research study" claiming it's just like the flu, that is more holey than Swiss cheese. I hope she doesn't pay for her stupidity. More reasons for the rest of us to wear masks. I did send out an email this morning to all the volunteers scheduled for tomorrow (including the offenders) that includes the UT regulation about PPE. In response, I got an email from one of them asking if I wanted them to just not interact with the public. The problem is that one of the two has the Square that we take credit cards with. Chele, I can see you rolling your eyes and saying, "I'm retired so I wouldn't put up with that s&^t!" I also don't want to have to work the whole freaking day tomorrow because I don't feel up to it yet. Taking it easy today and just doing what has to be done. Lots of hydration because I didn't do as well yesterday as I should have. As a result, I actually had leg cramps before bedtime last night. I have my plants fertilized and all sitting out on the screened porch. The new tomatoes look really good!

Eyes still rolling, Karen. I don’t want you to work all day tomorrow either not with the crazies who are “practicing” their immunity. Either you are immune or you aren’t. There is no practice. Sweden is working on the herd immunity theory and did not close down. They are willing to accept a high death rate for keeping their economy rolling. Hurray for your healthy tomato plants.

Chele, I'll either work a.m. OR p.m. but have decided I will not work both. I'm waiting to hear back from one person and if he will be the point of contact for sales, I will go in early. I agree on immunity and there is some question if a person who contracts the virus truly will be immune for any period of time, so herd immunity may not work the way some people want it to. I heard about Sweden and am glad I'm not there.

Chele, thanks for the start. Not sure where April went, but I'm kind of glad to see that one go. Face masks aren't mandatory here, but some businesses are requiring them for employees. If people would respect the social distancing, they probably wouldn't need masks. I think we should stay put in May too, but DM is eager to go out. She got her new DVR and DS and DBIL installed it for her. She stayed in another room while they were there. Strange times for sure.
Karen, I'm rolling my eyes along with Chele! I'm glad you're not going to work the whole day. That's scary to think there might not be much immunity since that seems like it would make developing a vaccine extremely difficult. I don't think they really know yet. I'm not familiar with the Garmin, but is it possible your pulse and stress were both higher than normal due to being sick?
I guess it's not surprising on the strange dreams given all the strange stuff that's going on. Too funny on the Airbnb dream. I have heard them mentioned on the news lately since they can't rent them out or at least they're not supposed to be renting them out right now.
It's a nice sunny day here and only 80 right now. We're supposed to go down into the upper 50s tonight, so that's cool for May. Hope everyone has a good Friday evening.
