I went in to get my hair done today. My hairdresser had been exposed to Covid (one of his clients), but his test came back negative, and he was also beyond the 14 day quarantine period. He told me the client didn't feel sick when she came in. She had also told him how careful they were being. What she did NOT tell him was that she'd taken a business trip to South Carolina (one of the hot spots) and hadn't bothered to quarantine when she came back. He would like to tell clients that if they travel, please self quarantine before coming to see him. But, he said either they will lie to him, or go elsewhere. I told him if he can at least get them to wear masks it will help. And since both our state and our city have mask mandates he at least has something to back up his request.

I got a call from my boss yesterday, in her words "Mike and I have decided to sell the salon"
Can't say I am surprised but who would want to buy a salon now?

i guess if they are looking for a client list at a bargain price these days, a salon in financial distress is probably a good option. we won't be in these coronavirus lockdowns forever, and once the lockdowns are fully lifted, i have a feeling there will be people knocking down the doors for an appointment. my hair is in absolute shambles and i'm desperately needing to go back but still feel a little weird about it. my hair is fully brown (no more blonde highlights at all), fuzzy at the ends, thin and sparse looking and doesn't even have a sheen to it anymore. i bought a container of collagen powder this weekend to start adding to one drink a day. i heard good things about it. i also take biotin gummies daily, but i have got to just bite the bullet and get back in the salon.

Yeah, my last color was Feb. 7, my last cut was sometime in 2019. This is actually what we are seeing.. the urgency is gone for many clients, many "got to get my color done every 4 weeks" have realized they can go longer, in some cases much longer, not good for business. She said the biggest decline is color.

I got a call from my boss yesterday, in her words "Mike and I have decided to sell the salon" Can't say I am surprised but who would want to buy a salon now? I replied before I saw this post (I was reading them in backwards order). Is your boss planning on keeping the salon open while they try to find a buyer? Do you think you'll stay during this period? Is it fairly easy to "salon hop" where you are? I know with my hairdresser in California, I followed her to at least 3 or 4 different salons. The hairdresser I'm going to now has changed salons once since I started going to him.

i am finding i can stretch the appointments out longer than i'd have thought, but i don't like it. i need the upkeep at least every 4 months. my daughter who got the short hair cut last year when she was 9 is actually looking really cute in her now bobbed hair. she's certainly rocking the equivalent of tom cruise in magnolia. but she's dying to go back and get it cut back down to a pixie cut again.

luanne Yes it will stay open I have no desire to leave I have only worked in 2 salons my entire career. There are a number of salons in the area but I'd prefer to stay where I am. Thing is, she has only owned the salon for 4 years, our previous owner had it for 25 years. She paid top dollar and will lose her shirt. She has 1 more year on her lease, the one thing I did not ask was, what if no one buys it in that time?

I use Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides-- unflavored. I found using that plus protein powder in smoothies does help with hair loss. I like the Vital Proteins brand as it mixes easily into my tea, coffee or smoothie.

i forget which brand i bought. i think it was a private label for kroger so not sure which manufacturer actually makes it. i am very pleased to see there is no taste to it. the one thing i do notice is that my sparkling water that i mix fresh squeezed grapefruit juice into (plus a squirt of Mio fruit punch) is thicker, more like a juice. i'm not huge on that texture, but the tasteless part is major for me so i'm just going with it. my hair really started thinning in the last couple of months. i can't tell if it's age, stress, lowish carb diet, or combo of all of that. i think it also doesn't help that i haven't had a fresh trim in a year. so my split ends are making their way up the hair shaft and creating thinner more brittle strands.
