Good to see your post this morning Ruth. I know you posted last night....yes roasting marshmallows is so much fun and of course making s’mores! I admit I had one marshmallow last night. DGS had more than his share.....I don’t even want to think about how many- but I do know that the bag was empty by the time we decided the kids would ride bikes in front of the house. Its just sp peaceful to sit in front of a small fire in the evening and watch/hear the birds at the end of the day. For some reason I remember there being some big tourist draw in your area Ruth, I remember something that attracted a lot of campers. Perhaps its that fair that you mentioned attracts many tourists. Here, that Jersey fair, which really is a large rural county fair that attracts many from miles away. I will miss the large 4H exhibits of animals with the grandkids....we used to take our children there when they were little. There is other cool stuff like a tractor pull, oxen pull and a demotion derby, of course a nice quilting exhibit.
Sorry to hear that your state has seen another covid death. Its a horrible illness....and I suppose it was inevitable And yes I can imagine that the tourist industry will bring a lot of challenges and unfortunately Covid to your area. Good thing that you and Dh have worked on getting those shop at home opportunities for groceries. With the influx of tourists in many areas (thinking of all the beaches that are opening soon) the next month will be a challenge for sure. Did you get any crocheting done yesterday??
I anticipate that this will be a quieter day- and I hope to work on the baby quilt. Got Bible study tonight, so I have to work on my material for that too.

Good morning and happy new week everyone.
Yes FRonteir days is a gigantic fair and rodeo called "the Grandaddy of Them All" My one aunt and uncle, it turned out, had always wanted to come here to attend that so two years after we moved here they did come to Cheyenne to go to it and then came up here to visit us. I had never heard of it before but apparently it's a big deal. They have nightly rodeos, famous performers, all those exhibits you mentioned which, I'm sure included a quilt exhibit. After my uncle described the crowds to us we never were interested in going. We did attend one rodeo here which was a senior rodeo but that was about 28 years ago.We only went to this county fair twice. only went the second time because dh's sister was here and wanted to go.
Yes I did a lot of crocheting yesterday. I think I"m about half done with this blanket.I'm glad to hear that you're going to have a nice quiet day to work on your crafting. If I understand it correctly I think that the person you sent your quilt to does the quilting then you get it back and have to put on the edging right? It's the binding?

Well, got no crafting done today but I did get a fair amount of outdoor work done. I figured I would get to working on the quilt tomorrow... Yes, I will have to put the binding on my quilt when I get it back. I have the binding all cut already, but need to sew the strips together.
Ruth, glad you got a lot of crocheting in yesterday. That afghan is for DGD?? As she is no longer a baby- its gotta be a nice size and you have made great progress on it to be that far done. Guess you have found the right balance of colors to use after you switched to white-white instead of antique white. Do you think Frontier days will be cancelled or will they hold it this year? Sounds like a lot of fun if you like that sort of thing...
Hope everyone had a good start to their week.....Hi to CJ, Sue and Phyl. Ginny

As I mentioned yesterday the death toll in our state was 7 for a very long time and Saturday they said there was one more. Now over the weekend there were two more. People were getting careless and it shows.
Ginny, well you got that outdoor work out of the way for now so that's off your mind and you'll be able to enjoy your crafting tomorrow without the idea of yard work plagueing you.I hope you had a good Bible study.
It got up to almost 90 today but we had a nice breeze so it didn't feel too hot. Tomorrow will be the same temp but I don't know about the wind situation for tomorrow. I might do a little outdoor work tomorrow morning before it gets too hot but we'll see. The rest of the week is to be cooler so I might wait.
Yes I'm making the blanket for my 8 year old dgd but it's just to be more of a lapghan for her to use while reading. It may come out longer than I planned though because I want the colors to come out right. I did 8 rows of white, two of darker pink (bubble gum) and one of pastel pind, 8 more rows of while then 2 rows of iris then one row lilac, 8 or white agian and then repeated that sequence once but with the lights and darks reversed the 2 rows of white, 5 rows of pastel pink then and now have started to do the same sequences in reverse. Then I'll have the weaving in and border/edging.

Don’t know the statistics for your state Ruth- is it possible that you are entering the peak period for Covid? (Gosh, in my area those numbers would be considered phenominal). You also could be experiencing the influx of tourists- the national parks are opening or partially opening or so I have heard. I have heard that in my area, mask use and social distancing is becoming a bit less compliant. The way I see it, the more folks that are out, the more important it is to be socially distant. Anyway, stay safe, I know you and Dh will.
Hope you can get that yard work in this morning...I know you enjoy gardening. Are you planting anything or straightening up/ weeding?? You usually put in a bit of a vegetable garden- what are your plans for this year?
Hats off to you for the pretty colors you are putting into DGD’s lapghan. Think your color scheme is so pretty and changing to white was perfect. I am sure she will love it. I am not a big fan of weaving in ends....too bad you will not be able to see the smile on DGD’s face when she opens the lapghan.
Study was good last night. We will not be meeting for the next two weeks- others are traveling- but my pastors wife and I are planning on either walking or just having a virtual conversation on the Monday when she is home.
Think some more gardening might be on for today for me....gotta take advantage of the cooler weather. if I do not do that I will work on the baby quilt. Hope Sue, CJ and Phyl are well Ginny

It turns out that the latest two deaths added to the list occurred in March and April. I don't know why it's taken so long for them to be reported but we do have a lot of new cases. That's either due to increased testing or, as you said Ginny, a peak here at this time. Our county health officer, who is a fantastic infectious disease doctor (he could improve on his ego though) held a press conference and mentioned how disappointed he is that people are not following recommendations. So I guess I'm not the only one that has noticed the lack of masks and other precautions being used.
Ginny, no I don't enjoy gardening. I enjoy seeing flowers and veggies growing but don't like the work involved at all.I planted tomato seeds and will soon put them outdoors in my large pots. The flower seeds I planted haven't come up yet. I'm considering transplanting the Alysuum plant that is inside to an outdoor location and see if it survives.
Well either I have to look through my white yarn stash and see if there is one that's close to the white shade I'm using now or revise the end of my blanket. I have about enough of my POL for about 3 rows and to make this end the same as the other (only reversed) I need enough for 24 more rows.Mostly what I have to do outside is a lot of weeding and edging. Weed whackers and I don't get along at all. I always manage to kill them so I have to do it with my snipper. It's too hot and windy today though so perfect excuse to procrastinate more.

Hello Crafters Ruth - The afghan for your DGD sounds so pretty, I love pink, purple and white together. I'm glad that your virus numbers have been so low and I hope that they don't start rising too much. I'm glad that parts of the country still have lower numbers of infected. With over 12,000 cases in my county alone (over 40,000 in the state), I'm at a point where I just can't think about it anymore. I am however interested to see if the numbers will rise in a few weeks since our governor allowed some opening of the start staring last Friday. Ginny - I'm glad you are able to get some yardwork done while the weather is cooler. I hope you will be getting your quilt back soon from the longarmer. It's been cooler here this week, and a bit cloudy. I'm happy for the cooler weather. I finished piecing the quilt top I was working on and I'm happy with how it came out. I like this pattern and may use it for another grouping of fabrics since it shows off the focus fabric so nicely. This other group is a floral with blues and pinks, then a solid blue and finally a pink floral. I don't care for the pattern that came with this group, so it's good I have the other one to use. I'm pretty sure I probably bought this pack because of the fabrics since I like them so much. I've started working on the second quilt now and sewed some strip sets this morning and cut them up. This quilt is all nine patches close together. The colors/fabrics are Christmasy - a gold, a green and a red. It's all the same design in the fabric, just different colors. And it's very pretty fabric that kind of looks like pine tree limbs or brushes of paint. I wish I could link a picture but this fabric is pretty old and I couldn't find it on the Internet. Here's a link to the pattern though and you can see the red, green and gold colors in the sample picture: www.fabriccafe.com/Nine-Patch-3-Yard-Quilt-Pattern-p/090929.htmHope everyone is doing well and taking care. Have a great day!

CJ- 9 patch quilts are SO pretty- and simply amazing how fabric selection and the placement of the 9 patches can make for such an interesting quilt. I really like that pattern- again thanks for sharing. Sounds like you are wishing for winter weather and Christmas- actually not a bad idea if it means that this covid mess is resolving and not menacing with our lives any more. Nice thing about that web site that you are using is that you can buy the fabrics and then use any of their patterns for 3 yards of fabric. A smart way to do business for sure. Bet that the blue and pink florals are so pretty and spring like- don’t blame you for being attracted to those fabrics. My county is not much behind yours - we have a little over 10,000 covid cases. This cooler weather is nice, and it looks pretty good for the Memorial Day weekend- I just hope people comply with social distancing and wearing masks. I try not to think about it either- but I am concerned because my state is FINALLY starting to open up- but my county won’t be doing that for another 10 days. If the knuckle heads cannot socially distance and wear masks, well the cases will go up- we won’t meet the metrics set by the governor and I am stuck in even longer. Are you doing any yard work CJ- taking advantage of the cooler weather??? hope that the bathroom bugs are gone and never to return.
Ruth, simply amazing how many different whites there are. I made a ripple afghan years ago- Ran out of white, or the white I started with and finished (in a new row) with another slightly different white. Really its not noticeable unless you scrutinize the afghan. Somehow I thought you liked gardening. Sorry for being wrong...Regarding Covid, I do hear that any death that can possibly be attributed to Covid is being counted as such. Not sure what the logic is there, but that is what I hear. Anyway, hope that you can find a suitable white. And again, what a shame that some folks feel so cavalier that social distancing and masks are an inconvenience. Their lack of restraint hurts us all.
Got some gardening done- and I only do a little bit, as I just cannot handle all the bending and dislike gardening. I figure if I do small areas that perhaps it might all look ok at some point. Weeding is not my favorite job. Ds went out and got take out (bring in!) for dinner- so I got to play with fabric again and am in the final stages of putting the binding on the baby quilt. Not sure if I want to use a decorative stitch to finally sew it down or just a straight stitch. They say that my machine does decorative stitches really well, perhaps I should try that out.....or I could be lazy and just straight stitch and be done with the quilt in an hour. Its all clipped and ready to stitch.
Have a good evening all Ginny

Oh- the other thing is I found a gift card to the quilt shop.....and checked out their web site. They have a lovely Christmas quilt/ (50X60) that I can use the gift card on- and understand that they are doing curbside pickups.... Do I need another project ? No. Is this project pretty? Very. Should I get it?? Maybe. Not sure what else I would get from this store, as the gift cards are only good for a year and Lord knows if I will get up there again. Just a thought....and I might try to pick up the Christmas quilt.

CJ, that nine patch is so pretty and all your color choices do sound beautiful also. I wish you could have an exhibit and that we could see all the great quilt tops and table runners you've made. It was almost 90 today and maybe even hit 90 but the breeze was nice. I can understand how you like the cool days but I'm not looking forward to winter being back
Ginny, that's great that you found a gift card! Yes I would get that quilt if I were you. You sure don't want the gift card to expire. I did outside work today too. Dh and I pruned a bush...well actually cut most of it down. It was a broken twig when we planted it many years ago and grew to almost tree height or actually to tree height but in it's old age it's become very straggly and has a lot of dead areas...more dead areas than areas that show any signs of life. I cut the smaller brances off with my pruner and dh sawed a lot of the thicker trunks with his reciprocating saw. We now have lots of tree branches in the yard. tomorrow I'll go out and work on cutting them down to a size that the trash pickup people will accept and maybe save some of the thicker parts for firewood.
That's exactly what I'm going to do Ginny is use a white that looks close. And don't feel bad about thinking I like to garden. You have plenty on your mind and don't need to remember my likes and dislikes
I don't know how long it will take us all to be comfortable shopping inside stores and being amoung people again.I guess it's only a waiting game till we find out if this virus will come back with a vengeance in the fall or even if it will go completely away during the summer.

Not so bad if you and Dh worked outside today and got that bush pruned. May the branches be easy to get rid of or cut for easy burning... Sounds like both of you got a good workout- good activity.
I did just finish the quilt. Gotta cut threads and wrap it up. Its not my best binding in the world but all in all it came out ok.

Got up nice and early and got to the store for senior hour and senior discount day. Everyone had on masks- but some still absolutely do not get the idea of going up one aisle and down the other.. They seem oblivious. But I gotta say it seems to be a bit more compliant than other times, and perhaps folks are getting used to this.

My crafting for today was.......I spray painted my gazebo table and chairs black to match - they look wonderful! And I used up some old stain from the deck and freshened up some benches and the door to the shed. It all looks better. Will get to playing with fabric or yarn tomorrow. I did not sleep all that well last night and hope tonight goes better.

Congratulations on getting all that painting and freshening of your yard. I know it feels great to have everything looking so nice. Yes you can do fabric and yarn work tomorrow. It's nice you got to not only senior hour at your store but senior discount day too. I'm not sure when our senior days are here. I know the last store I was in it was senior day and I didn't even know until I checked out and saw the discount on my receipt.
Well spent a lot of the day outside cutting up the branches from the big tree/bush and hauling it all to the roadside where it will hopefully be picked up tomorrow. There sure was a lot of walking involved and bending, etc so lots of nice exercise. There's a lot to be done in my yard but I'll work on it a little at a time. The yard does look a lot better with that big dead bush mostly gone. We just saved the part where there were still some signs of life. New branches are growing up from the root. Before I went out I did do a little crocheting and then after coming in, cleaning the kitchen and making dh some hamburgers for his "breakfast" and putting on potatoes and carrots to cook, I got back to crocheting again. I think I will probably finish this blanket this weekend. It might be before that depending on how much time I want to put in. I might get all the rows done today and just have the weaving in then border to do. There's lots of weaving in to do on this one.
CJ, I hope you're having a good time with your fabrics. Sue, Phyl, and Meg,,hope you are all doing ok.
