Ginny, you've accomplished so much this week, it's no wonder you're tired and maybe have aching muscles. You need a day of rest. CJ, that fabric is beautiful. I'd sure love to see the quilt top you make with it. Too bad this site is not like the old WW site in that respect. You could put pictures on that one to share with others. Hot day here today again. I don't know what the official temp got up to yesterday but it had to be close to 100. My friend in AZ told me the other day that their temp got up to 112. They have a dry heat there too of course and she also has central a/c and a swimming pool.Hardly anyone here has a pool because of the dry weather...the water evaporates so fast and I bet it does there too. She mentioned large water bill...well I can sure see why...they have a manicured lawn in large back and front yards and citrus trees in the back also and the pool must use a LOT of water to stay filled. I don't think I'll be doing much today other than crocheting and maybe rummaging thru my yarn to see what I can put together for my next project.I did work on a triangle scarf/shawl last night that I had started about a month ago when one of the group leaders on fb started a "shawl along". I got to row 7 on mine before I set it aside to work on something else. The shawls which will be more like triangle scarves will be Christmas gifts for this year. Now I have to find something to make for the men...my sil and teenage grandson.

CJ- I really like that fabric you ordered and yes, adding some silver and red fabrics to it will make a stunning quilt. The soft grey of the fabric is very comforting- funny that you are thinking of Christmas fabrics here in the heat of summer. (But then I just bought two Christmas quilt kits).. Feedsacks are so pretty and I think will work well in the strip quilt. Always incredible how we use and reuse things like feed sacks- which I almost got into collecting about 10 years ago (never did however). Congrats on completing the apple quilt. So glad you are happy with it- that makes it worth all the work right?? Think as far as Covid goes, your state and mine paid the price early on. Here in NY we were heavily restricted and though plenty of mistakes were made, I think most of the precautions were worth it. Its hard to watch what the other states are going through, and to some extent you think they would have learned something from watching how the really hard hit states reacted. I just hope that there is no second wave and like you, donβt like to see the infection rates go up anywhere. Hoping and praying that an effective and safe vaccine is available very soon.
Got to church this am and then went to Dd#2βs house to drop off some more stuff. Little does she know, I have two more car loads of stuff for her! The house is cute and should be great for them.
Looks like the sky is falling here. Rain on and off most of the afternoon and I can hear thunder. Ginny

Ruth, so sorry I did not refresh the thread and missed your post. Hope you can find some appropriate yarn to make those triangle scarves- sound like a nice and fashionable project for gifting. You have lots of time to figure out something to make for the men- I will put my thinking cap on and see if I come up with any good ideas. Surely your contacts on the crochetting FB group would have good ideas.... G

Ginny, I hope your dd enjoys receiving all her things you are taking to her house for her. She will be busy finding a place for everything then decide to move them all to another place if she's like most people. It's so much fun having a new house. It really stirs up creativity.
I have a lot of Shawl in a Ball yarn. Lion had a huge sale on it plus I have other yarn that's a #2 I think that I can use also but I think I have 20 of the SIAB. It's rated as a #4 yarn but if you've seen it you know it's very thin. I guess they also base their rating on how fuzzy or...well can't think of the word I want but this yarn is very "bristly" but not so that it bothers the skin. Most people would be using it over clothing though anyway.
Yes I know that CJ's home is filled with the most beautiful quilt tops. That fabric with the silver, etc added is going to be another really fantastic quilt! Just from hearing you describe colors and from the links you post, CJ, I know you have a wonderful sense of color coordination and contrasting.
I finally decided what other color I'm putting in this blanket and it's Pistachio. I didn't know how it would look with this vibrant pink but now that I have a few rows done in it I find that they go well together along with the white. As to who will have this blanket well I've decided that I may wait until we go to In and take them all with me and let everyone pick one.
As to men's Christmas gifts, most of the people in those groups just suggest hats and scarves. I'd make them each a blanket except that sil is 6'6" and dgs is almost that tall. I guess I could make them lap blankets for when they play their video games.Let me know if you think of anything. I've already made them hats, ear warmers, fingerless gloves.
I hope you're all having a great day and evening. Wonder what Phyl is up to.
