Happy 4th of July! 💥 🇺🇸 😷 6 🦶 Karen, thanks for the explosive start. I see nothing wrong with Sweet Potato having her own freezer. I hope she continues to tolerate the fireworks well. I hope you got to swim this morning before the tourists arrived at the lake. I have been the one who thought they were being “helpful.” Iggy was not amused either. Iggy said my eye looks better this morning. I am no longer looking as I cannot be objective any more. Linda, I am glad you enjoyed your birthday dinner and strawberry quick bread which looks fantastic. Are your neighbors having a 4th of July shindig kr have they gotten the message yet? We have had a lot of fireworks going off here but no big parties. moonriver , Denise, yay for the weekend off. I hope you get all the yard work done before the big heat hits. We watered the lawn again this morning starting at 5 am to 7 am. The robins came for a shower. Waiting for less crowds in the water is a good idea. Kathy, the “pasta fazool” comes from the Neapolitan “pasta e fasule.” The rest of Italy calls it pasta e fagioli (fa zhoe lee). My family comes from Naples, hence the fazool. Trump Jr’s GF tested positive prior to the SD rally. One box of Kleenex during allergy season! Argh! Oooh, salmon sounds good. We haven’t made it to the fresh fish place lately. I’ll have to see if it is open. Becky, I didn’t expect Kenneth’s cousin to be home so quickly. I hope she makes a quick recovery and they got it all. I wish people were so mask compliant at Kroger as they are at your HEB. The fine here for not wearing a mask is $85 but no jail time. I saw a video of a woman in Dallas throwing her grocery items out of her cart when she was asked to put on a mask at a grocery store. Liz, what is in store for you this weekend? Iggy and I went to the Yellow Springs Farmer’s market and everyone was wearing a mask and complying with the 6 foot distance. Cleveland (in effect now), Cincinnati (July 9) and Columbus (in effect now) have issued a mask ordinance. We got some Seedy McSeedy bread from the Blue Oven Bakery, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, and basil. They cukes and zucchini were too large for us and no one had salad turnips. It was not as big a haul as the Second Street market, but we felt safer. Have a safe day.

Happy 4th, Chicks! Going to be a very unusual one. Linda, how did the strawberry bread turn out? Happy official birthday eve, even though you've already started the celebration. Anything going on at the long term rental house in your neighborhood? Pretty flowers! Are you up over 100 again today? Good that Kenneth's cousin is home, Becky. She needs the rest so, while I hate that it's drug-induced, it will help her heal. Who ever thought you would need an appointment to go to the local pool in the summer? Are there fireworks going on near you? Will you keep Scooter indoors just in case? Denise, I hope you got all your weeding done and stayed well hydrated. How is your garden doing? I put an upside down tomato cage next to the cucumber buses to give the vines something to trellis up. I have tons of blooms but it's not setting fruit yet. I don't blame you for delaying your outing until the crowds diminsh. I love the emojis, Chele! I did the treadmill instead of the lake this morning and it was a good idea. Just glancing out the window right now, I see 7 boats and I know there are many more out there because we can only see a small sliver of the lake. We did have a few fireworks last night and Arya did react a little, but much less than usual. Tonight will be the big test because there will be a bunch of them, including the prospect of some very close by. If Iggy thinks your eye looks better, that sounds positive. Speaking of positive, I heard about Don Jr's GF. Trump isn't going to be able to skate that close and avoid a positive test himself. I saw that your guv was giving cities the choice to enforce masks. Our guv did the same to counties and Sevier County will apparently consider it on Monday (no sense inconveniencing thousands of tourists!). I saw a really good article on FB about the importance of wearing a mask. It really explains well how masks protect. My allergies are kicked into high gear this morning for some reason, even though it was warm enough when we got up that we didn't even open any windows. We are looking at making fish tacos with some of the whiting Dale bought last week. Might think about that for tomorrow. You can go fish shopping during a weekday now, so you need to go. I know you're thrilled about the McSeedy bread. You did well otherwise. Sorry about the cukes, zukes, and turnips. I did get some turnips from the CSA on Wednesday and got seeds to plant my own as soon as I get holes drilled in the tote bottom. Too bad you couldn't hit both markets, but safety is the most important thing. Kathy, enjoy your day. Probably too hot to be outside having a picnic anyway. I heard FL hit a nother record today. And from the look of the beaches, this won't be the last one. I have heard several stories lately about the Washington Redskins considering a name change. I know that has been suggested at your alma mater as well. Are you hearing things recently about it? That would be a real culture change because it would also mean ditching the war chant. Hope you're using that new grill, Liz. I saw a reporter on Corolla and I saw few masks and not much social distancing. I doubt the NC governor was amused. Are you thinking about taking a vacation any time soon (as opposed to your staycation a few weeks back)? But then any time away from work is time away from work. And, you do have the new facility opening, with your dental procedure shortly after. We have a warm and sunny day here, so perfect weather for a holiday. The 4th is a bigger holiday here than either Memorial Day or Labor Day, so things will go downhill from this point. We got to 92 yesterday with a heat index of 101 and we're expecting the same today. Good reason to stay indoors. Hope everyone has a safe weekend.

Chele, great emojis! Thanks for the explanation on “pasta fazool”. That is actually the pronunciation I had always heard when I was younger and the one I've used, but then I started hearing the other one. Now it makes sense. I have a stash of Puffs, but I'm trying not to use them until I can't buy anything. I found that Kleenex Ultra Soft & Strong is close to Puffs, but I still prefer the Puffs. I was surprised the shopper could only get one box and it left me wondering if there was only 1 box on the shelves and she got it? I go through a lot of tissue in a week! At least now it seems like there is a good supply of TP. Denise, enjoy your weekend off. Linda, love the flowers! Karen, there is a huge difference in calling a team the Redskins and in naming them after a specific local tribe. I don't think anyone would dare call a team any other color followed by skins. I haven't heard anything lately about FSU's relationship with the Seminole tribe, but they've worked closely together to ensure it is respectful. Women from the tribe actually sew the clothes for the student that plays Osceola. The band has always played the War Chant, but you're probably referring to the Tomahawk Chop which is more recent and started after I graduated. That started in the stands, but the band picked up on it. I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinued that at some point. Here's a good article explaining the relationship: FSU and the Seminole tribe.
FSU has said that if at any time the Seminole tribe wants them to stop using the name, it will stop. In the climate we're in now, I wouldn't be surprised if it came up again, but it would be up to the tribe whether or not to continue the relationship. There have been some vocal opponents to it, mainly in the Oklahoma Seminole tribe. Their council also approved using the name though. Another hot day, but more rain expected so that will keep the heat down some. Hope the fireworks don't bother anyone's pets tonight. Liz, hope you have a great weekend. Becky, that's good that Kenneth's cousin is home. Hope she has a quick recovery.

Bout time those names went away.
the quick bread is more like not too sweet cake..very good.
Another day...mowed lawn earlier because next then days we are 108-112 with still no rain in sight. Ran an extra water cycle for shrubs.
deviled eggs, baked beans, green bean salad and hot dogs will be our little 4th. no idea what brother and his kids are doing in next city over. Last heard from him in March. No, they do not remember my birthday.
Neighbors couple street up have been exploding things last three nights around midnight. Micki growls. Bet some neighbors with little kids growl too!

Karen, one thing that will probably be changed soon at FSU is the name of Doak Campbell stadium due to his racist history. Same thing at UF with their O'Connell center.
Linda, that's awful on your brother not keeping in touch. It's been raining here, so I don't know how many fireworks we'll get. Hope Micki doesn't get too upset. Thanks for the chart. I need to get gas soon, so I'm glad to see that is lower risk.

Thanks for the start Karen. moonriver Denise I hope you had a good 4th of July and enjoy tomorrow off. Chele They only expected his cousin to be in the hospital 3 or 4 days. She had already gone through all her chemo so they wanted to do the surgery while they could.Abbott said the same thing about no jail time.Kenneth said he saw one person at Walmart today not wearing one but the only one I saw was a young kid I would say under 10 yo and they aren't required to wear one.I saw that video also and she was such an idiot.I'm glad everyone was social distancing at the farmers market. Linda Beautiful flowers.Happy Birthday eve. Karen No public fireworks going on anywhere close.Elgin never really had anything except a parade.Taylor always had a big display but they cancelled theirs as well as Austin cancelling theirs.I think they are having something at the Dell Diamond in RR but too hot to go anywhere. We did get up to 100.It's still 91 at 8:00.I don't blame you for not going to the lake.Texas hit their highest day ever for positive cases but thankfully Bastrop County had no new cases for once.

Brother is not a phone person or one to remember personal stuff. He is on meds that make him tired after work..tends to fall asleep, not remember what you said. i worry.Once in a while I think his wife says call your sister to give him somebody else to talk to! She and I were never close...I am not up to her church standards....so never got close to her two sons who like me, but are busy. I do hear from the first two kids ...on two different coasts. oh well.
fireworks cancelled for pandemic and fire watch...so naturally people are being stupid.
Fireworks on street behind us...pop pop, bark, howl, pop, howl, pop BANG, arooooo, going to be long evening. He takes it personally!
