I believe the first 40 minutes are free Not exactly accurate... There are two versions of Zoom: one is free and for the other one you have to pay. The free one is limited to 40 minutes if there are more than two people accessing it (example: I can tutor one person, so that person and I are the only two on the screen, and there is no limitation on time, but if a third person comes in from a third location, we are limited to 40 minutes). The version that costs money has no "time" limitation. So it appears that each "location" of WW must have one "paid" version of Zoom in order for a coach plus one or two support people (that's 2 or 3 right there) and any number of members to be on the screen for more than 40 minutes. At one of the Zoom workshops I attended in the past week or so, they announced that they were changing to be available for 15 minutes before, and 15 minutes after the workshops going forward That adds up to an hour... So, Deb, it looks like at your location they are going to be keeping the paid version of Zoom.
My regular workshop is Fridays at 12:30 (Zoom opens at noon). However, I won't be able to attend tomorrow, so I went to another workshop (led by my regular coach) the day before yesterday. I do not recall that she said anything at all about changing times... I'll pay closer attention next week (which will be my regular workshop on Friday, and the date will be July 31).

They also said that as of 7/31/20, you have to go through the WW App or website to attend the meetings. Sounds like they are going to do the "waiting room" thing or allowing only those who have WW Zoom invitation into a meeting. I suppose that will put an end to people visiting VW's in other areas as I would imagine you would get a "ticket" from your designated meeting place and wouldn't have access to any other. I hope not, because the local workshops I have attended aren't as great with participation and coaches as others I have attended in other locations. The one local coach I DO like has gone to doing the in-person workshops, which I can't attend because of being in the high risk category with my health issues. I'm going to guess that for those with memberships like Monthly Pass, which would allow you to visit multiple workshops, including those in other locations, would still be able visit other workshops virtually. One coach mentioned that it has to do with keeping up with attendance, and making sure the people that are in the meetings belong there. I wonder how that will work out with the big popular workshops like Tony Williams' Sunday morning one that gets over 200 people! She did say to watch your emails, and that basically as long as you are going through the app or website you will be allowed in to the workshop.

This was the link our guide gave us about joining the VW www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/how-it-works/virtual-workshops (not sure if you have to be logged in to the WW site to see this) Really it doesn't look any different than what we have to do now. I guess time will tell (or next week when I try to go to my Monday VW). It looks like the same info they have had since they started VW's, complete with the codes. If they are changing the way they are doing things then I suppose there will be new info there, eventually. If WW is setting up its own system of private meetings things might get a bit scary, lol. Oh, and I clicked on my WW meeting link to see if I could get into a meeting. Not planning on going to one, it was only a test. What a surprise---all booked up. If I was someone who was paying the full price of a meetings membership I think I would be a bit peeved. The message: "We’re sorry! All Workshops are currently full. Please select another Studio to find an in-person Workshop with availability. You can also continue to attend this Studio’s Virtual Workshops." And as far as being able to go to the meetings early to chat, etc---this is the notice on the WW page: "NOTE: The Zoom link will be active 10 minutes prior to each Virtual Workshop start time (if you click the link when a Virtual Workshop isn’t taking place, you won’t see anything!). Check the schedule in your Virtual Studio Connect group for Virtual Workshop times."

I message WW on FB the other day and asked if there was a discount rate for VW and they said nope. I said $45 a month is a rip off for the app and zoom. I may call the customer support and see what kind of deal they have. As for changes, who knows! they charge $45 a month for virtual meetings? i thought they gave everyone a discount down to the online monthly rate? wow if it's $45 a month, that is crazy!

Its very hard to talk of plan changes without our dear beloved Zazzles. It makes me miss him. He made the threads so much more interesting.

Went to Rene Falgout's workshop this morning. [Gretna LA Friday 9:30 AM Central Time] It was a great discussion!
She said at the end of the meeting that the updated way of attending the Virtual Workshops that was supposed to go into place on 7/31 is postponed. It appears that for now, Online only members can continue to attend them.

I don't think there will be anything new coming unless it's a six week challenge or something of that nature.

fullmahina, I agree about the Zoom meetings. Even though the COVID retrofitted live meetings feel so sterile, they're worlds better than Zoom. I never heard of Zoom prior to COVID and am so sick of it at this point. I don't know how long I'd last if WW went to Zoom only. So far all of the seats for all of the live meetings where I live are gobbled up quickly.

So far all of the seats for all of the live meetings where I live are gobbled up quickly. Honestly at this point I would not go to any gathering of any size so in-person WW meetings are not on my list of things I want to explore but I have tried to see if there are any openings, just for the heck of it. Nope, none, no matter what time I go in there and try to book one. I saw that they can be booked up to seven days in advance so I imagine that people are booking them the minute the live meeting is over, lol. I checked out other live meetings and got the same "sorry no room at the inn" message. I still stop in to some of the Zoom meetings but the one who is doing most of the meetings in my area has the most horrible grating voice on the planet. IRL I once walked out of a meeting run by her---it was a meeting full of noisy cliques that were carrying on their own conversations and she was shrieking over them, trying to get their attention to no avail until finally someone let out a piercing whistle (the kind where you put two fingers into your mouth) and they finally stopped. My regular leader is not doing Zoom sessions nor is she scheduled for any live workshops.

No way!! Wow people can be so freaking rude. Why bother going on the meeting if you are going to blather through it. 🙄

No way!! Wow people can be so freaking rude. Why bother going on the meeting if you are going to blather through it. 🙄 Actually the final straw at that meeting was not that episode. It was the woman sitting behind me with a kid in a stroller. The kid was alternately babbling and wailing (think yayayaya lalalalalala muhmuhmuhmuh WAAAAHHHHHH) while kicking the back of my chair. The leader said nothing, the Mom was oblivious and I was outta there, lol. The meeting was packed, no other place to sit and who the heck wants to listen to that anyway. So bottom line, not really interested in going to any meeting, live or Zoom, run by this leader. I am cranky enough to begin with without adding more annoying stuff.

I agree that there will likely be minimal program changes.
In the before time (pre-Covid) there was an earnings call where they talked about piloting the virtual meetings. At that time, they were planning to charge a price that was more than online only but less than in person meeting. That had some sense to it.
So, when Covid came around they were fairly easily able to expand to the Zoom meetings. At that time, in I think the first earnings call after that they said that one studios opened up again they planned to shut down the Zoom meetings until they were ready to roll out the virtual memberships. I had the sense then that the virtual option was intended to be the "big" program change this year.
But, now that they have found that people will be $45 a month for virtual maybe they will just not discount for it.
One interesting thing. I am lifetime above goal. After I entered my vouchers I was good through 7/1. Anyway, before it expired they extended it until 9/1. I am not sure what I will do then. I keep intending to go to Zoom meetings but haven't done so yet. Well, I went to one but I didn't want to be on camera for it and they gave me such a hard time I left.
Oh I always read the earnings call transcripts when they come out. The one for Q2 should be out any time now.
