I'm not sure why one would expect the rating of the nearby schools to impact the cleanliness of bathrooms in a movie theater.
The bathroom on a plane is probably the cleanest place since they do actually get cleaned, unlike the seats, trays, windows, etc.

One time I entered a stall and encountered poop smeared on the back of the toilet seat. Because there was a line of women waiting to go, I told them not to use that stall and why. I informed the movie theater manager who got an employee to clean it. This movie theater is in Millburn, a very affluent community with a top rated school system. Yikes! I've seen poo sharted (it's a word) on a wall of all places. And don't get me started on port a potties and train bathrooms. My mother told me I held it on a train ride from South Carolina to New York because I refused to use the train bathroom. And I've held it for hours or walked to local malls because I refused to use port a potties.

I don't think affluence is an indicator of bathroom hygiene. I'd even guess some wealthier people are more likely to be less hygienic because they're not used to cleaning up after themselves, -because they don't have to.
I've never seen anyone barefoot on an overseas flight. It's usually so cold up there, people are in their fuzzy socks or slippers. I usually change out of my slippers back into my street shoes when I go to the restroom on a plane.

unfortunately i think a lot of ladies are the culprits as well! you have no idea how often i've gone into ladies' restrooms with pee sprayed all over the seat. so little miss thang that couldn't handle putting her bum onto a public toilet seat has now made it even MORE unsanitary for me and my kids. i am not a fan of ladies that feel the need to squat in a public bathroom and then not clean up after yourselves. you're not in some developing country over a pot in the ground. have some respect, bitches. Yes this!

I don't really care who did what, but when I'm sitting with my pants around my ankles, I want a women's only bathroom. I love everybody but when I'm in a public restroom, I don't want any men in there.

I actually close the door when I'm using a public restroom, plus I don't examine the genitals of my fellow bathroom users, so I don't need to have any concerns about the sex or gender of the person in the stall next to me.

This was a stand alone bathroom, not a multi-stalls restroom. Just a sink and the toilet with tinkle all over the seat.
I'm totally okay with anyone trans who identifies as a woman using the women's bathroom with me. But when I think about it, I don't want to be alone in a public bathroom with a strange man, whether it's doing our business or washing our hands.

a "strange" man, sure, as in one that's acting all leery and creepy. i'd feel equally weird about a strange-acting woman. but i have no qualms whatsoever about being in a public restroom with either gender when we're all just doing our business, washing our hands, checking ourselves out in the mirror, and then leaving. since we have established that women are just as fucking filthy in the bathroom as men.

DH was a swimming pool manager in high school and he dreaded cleaning the women's bathrooms the most because they were the dirtiest!

What exactly are "those places?"
I'm genuinely not sure what you mean. Target? People that are transgendered but haven't gotten the operation have been using the bathroom with the sign with which they identify for years.
But I get being uncomfortable. We can't always help it.

still trying to figure out what those places are...
nightclubs in the castro? cabaret night at the local watering hole? the unisex bathrooms at almost every shopping mall?
oh well, i guess i will never know.

ICK! In our bathroom at work, there is one stall that when flushed sprays water EVERYWHERE! So you don't know if it's pee or potty water (which is gross). I don't use that stall! I agree, people should clean up after themselves! No one else has time for that! Plus the poor people who do have to clean the toilets have it bad enough! That is also the case for one of the stalls at my work restroom. This one toilet just sprays toilet water everywhere. This could also be a mom bringing a young son into the ladies room to go potty, but just not inspecting the toilet seat afterwards. If I had a young son, he'd be using the ladies room with me in the bathroom with him (not necessarily in the stall).
